Hi experts,
Here on xda-developers, I read, that if we get the Samsung Galaxy S3, with the Exynos Processors, the APNs can be modified and can be used as a World Phone.
That means, if we are in the US we can use Verizon 4G LTE Network.
If we go to Europe, we can use the local SIM Card and use the local 4G LTE even from a GSM or a CDMA provider.
Here are my questions.
1. Is this possible? Is the information true?
Here is the link for that.
http://www.xda-developers.com/androi...ther-variants/
If this is possible, can the same be applied to the Snap Dragon Processors?
Swapping the Samsung Galaxy S3 between different carriers, Is this possible?
From Verizon to use it with AT&T and vice versa?
2. There is also a thread which shows that, the Galaxy S3 can now be booted from a SD Card.
Here is the link for that.
http://www.xda-developers.com/androi...galaxy-camera/
If that is possible, can the Bricked G3 Phones from Verizon or AT&T can be reused?
Thanks a lot for the answers and sharing of Your wisdom on this.
Peace,
A J.

no because it does not have a sim card slot.
It has one, but it is internal, and it is only for LTE
No because Sprint is not a gsm network therefore its devices do not have an external SIM card slot.

it said "But hold the, uh, phone. Verizon was cited by PhoneScoop as saying that a future software upgrade would allow the phone to be used globally, on the 2G and 3G networks of carriers outside the US. That means somewhere inside the Verizon phone is a GSM radio. In turn, potentially that means your phone could be used on AT&T." im confused now:crying:
Sorry to revive an old thread, but can a Sprint SG3 be unlocked and work on Verizon?

You can unlock your Samsung Galaxy S3 using unlock code.If you need unlock code visit classicunlocking.com Here you can unlock your mobile within a day.
((( I moved this post from General to Q&A ))
I'm looking a purchasing a Samsung Note II that will be used on AT&T network. Since my upgrade is a year away, I have a Skyrocket that's only a year old, this phone will be a full price for me. I'm trying to find out some specific questions on the different Note II phone types, euro vs North America and what preloaded software differences are between them.
* the Note II that I purchase MUST have 4G LTE (AT&T FINALLY turned on 4G LTE in North East OKLA about 4 weeks ago! ..LOVEING IT).
* 10 minutes after I purchase the phone and verifying that everything is in working order it gets rooted.
I can purchase the phone from AT&T for full retail for 649. Best Buy said they would match that price (we'll see if they really do). When at Best Buy I asked about the preloaded software on the Note II (sense they do not have a working model on the floor) I was told in a blunt tone that it was an AT&T phone so it would work on AT&T's network.
Question---
1. Is the AT&T Note II phone that Best Buy sells have the same preloaded junk that comes on the one at the AT&T store?
2. Is the AT&T Note II phone that Best Buy sells been stripped of some of the Note II futures like the one at the AT&T store?
-- I read on an Amazon review the following http://www.amazon.com/review/R2Q2WM4I4VO8J7/ref=cm_cr_pr_viewpnt#R2Q2WM4I4VO8J7
Be aware that the AT&T version of the Galaxy Note II is currently missing various standard functionality that Samsung is marketing and the other major carriers provide- missing functionality include:
~Multiview
~Group Shot Camera mode - with the ability to change faces
~Mobile data toggle
~Blocking mode toggle
~Screen Recorder
Since I am trying to get the most bang for my buck (a lot of bucks) which Note II phone that will work on AT&T that has 4G LTE should I be looking at?
(note- I suffered waiting on an ICS update from AT&T, so not having to depended on AT&T for my Android updates is a big plus)
Any advise or pointers is appreciated
Thanks
1.yes
2.yes
I will never buy a phone with a att stamp on it.

non carrier branded
So if I go with an unlocked phone- non carrier branded, which model number should I get that will work on AT&T and have LTE?
I saw this on another review-
Update: LTE! There are many people commenting about this. Apparently there's a version of the international Note 2 (not the N7100) that sports LTE, the model number is N7105 and it comes with "LTE 700 MHz Class 17 / 2100" (Sources: GSM Arena, Engadget and XDA forums). If you have a N7100 the LTE radio is simply not there. However this is not guarantee that the N7105 will work with AT&T's or Tmo's LTE, it all depends if those frequencies are compilant with those carriers' respective LTE signals. As LTE network compatibility can be a deal breaker for many people within the US, I suggest you to research very well before buying it. If someone can squeeze any info out of AT&T or Tmo, please comment. To shed more light on this issue, you can Google the xda thread 1917383. (Geez, all this makes me feel kinda happy I don't have to worry about LTE compatibility yet).
The only way to get lte with a note on att is with their model. If you can live with out lte the get N7100.in San Diego I get around 8mb down and around 2 up.
This PSA was Swyped out on my Paranoid Note 2 N7100
If you get the N7105, it will have LTE, but in the wrong bands for AT&T.
GT-N7105 (International Note 2): 800/1800/2600
SGH-i317 (AT&T Note 2): 700/850/AWS/1900
See how those don't line up?
I'd just get the 7100. You'll get 21mbps with that on AT&T with HSPA+ and you won't have any carrier BS. HSPA+ is pretty dang quick.
Might want to check this site too http://www.dailysteals.com/ got a good deal on note 2's today.
I am running the 7100 on AT&T in Phoenix. The lack of LTE does not bug me too often as the HSPA+ is good enough for my needs.
However, the OP stated that they would be rooting the phone. As such a clean bloat-free ROM for the AT&T phone would work on LTE. I have not been in the AT&T forums, but I assume there are bloat-free ROMs with all the missing features turned on.

Yes I plan on rooting the phone and installing a clean bloat free ROM. (rant) I just wanted to buy a phone with all the futures the EU version has and without the silly branding/bloat that carriers do, all they do is muck up the phone.
Greetings all, I'm a noob to the forum, although I've been reading a lot useful posts from xda.
I have a question here: is it possible for me to use N7102 on Verizon network? I currently use Verizon Droid RAZR and I also have an old GSM iphone 3GS on which I have a foreign SIM card. Since N7102 supports both GSM and UMTS with dual-SIM and dual-standby feature, I really want to get an N7102 so I don't have to carry two phones all the time. I'm sure my GSM SIM card can work on N7102, and since I'm on a long term contract with Verizon, I'd like to know whether I switch to N7102 with Verizon?
It looks like Verizon allows people to use CDMA phones other than those provided by Verizon, but they have a page titled "Check Your Device" for people to check if their devices are eligible (as I'm not allow to post link here, please just google "check your device verizon" to get the page if you can help). Since I don't own an N7102 nor do I know anyone who owns one, I would really appreciate it if any owner of an N7102 here can help me check if N7102 is eligible for use on Verizon network. Thank you!
100% no. The N7102 doesn't support CDMA at all. Think you'd have more than a little bit of trouble getting Verizon to accept a foreign ESN even if it did.

N719 might be the right one for you.
Mini Sim---GSM 900/1800
Micro Sim---CDMA/evdo
N719 is on sell in China.
N719 for China Telecom only?

I remember N719 is designed for China Telecom only, maybe I'm wrong.
If I'm correct, it should be using WCDMA network, are you sure it can be used on CDMA on USA carries?
Even so, I guess it may need to be flashed before it can be used on any USA CDMA network. Is that right?
Ok so I was trying to unlock this samsung s 4 mini lte SPH-L520 but it seems like it's the only model of S 4 mini that i can't find an unlock code for, is this phone un-unlockable? and what is the difference between the SPH-L520 and all the other samsun s 4 mini?
Well one rather big difference of the Sprint S4 mini (SPH-L520) versus the international models (GT-I919X) is that it uses CDMA networks rather than GSM. I am not sure if you can use it on GSM networks with a sim card. I do, however, know that the Verizon version (SCH-I435) which is also CDMA can be unlocked and used on GSM networks. I used the app RegionLock Away from the play store (and here on xda) to unlock and it worked with an AT&T sim card.

I hope your help

sprint sph-l520 NOT a worldphone
I talked with the Sprint folks.
The Sprint variant has a sim tray that is just for the data sim (UICC card) not a GSM sim. And it is NOT a worldphone.
So even if you put a GSM sim in it, the radio is not looking for GSM towers (only CDMA).
But the Verizon version IS a world phone, which is why "wiisixtyfour" was able to unlock his.
That being said, since Samsung has made several versions that do have this capability, it seems possible that if someone modifies these things it could work:
-Modified sprint radio to receive GSM radio frequencies/signals (maybe copying the Verizon one?)
-Modified PRL to look for GSM towers
-Modified SIM tray communication to recognize not just DATA sims but GSM sims as well
I have no idea how to do any of these. But would love it if someone a lot smarter than me can take a stab at it. :cyclops:

SPH-L520 can run on GSM carrier!
Yes, this is what Sprint told me last summer. But it's incorrect. I have a Sprint S4 mini that works on both Sprint and a TMobile MVNO. Voice, text, data (in refarmed area). Unlocking GSM can be done!

avgtuhm, that's only true if you can explain how it was done and it can be replicated.
What does #0111*NETWORKCODE accomplish?
First off, my apologies if I am in error about GSM functioning on my phone.
I will explain what I've done with my Sprint S4 mini and maybe you/someone can tell what is happening. But this is why I thought GSM was/is working on my phone, until supermaxkato questioned this. (Note: I am not a developer.)
My S4 mini is active with Sprint. If I put a GSM SIM in it, of course it does nothing. Try to make a phone call and I get an automated message that it cannot be completed. But after doing the following, I can make calls, send texts, use mobile data.
I powered on with GSM SIM in phone. Entered #0111*NETWORKCODE for my phone in the dialer and hit call button. After this voice, text, data work. However, phone shows "Invalid SIM" in the notifications and the calls and texts come from my Sprint phone vs. the number associated with my GSM SIM. (I didn't realize this until testing last night.)
So did the code just make it so the SIM tray ignores the GSM SIM and functions on Sprint network? (again.. before entering the codes, no calling/texting/data worked with GSM SIM in the phone)
Same results on 2 activated Galaxy phones. Unsuccessful on non-activated S4 Mini.
I am not tech savvy but if anyone wants me to check something on my phone, I will try to get you the information. (I do not have a rooted/modified phone.)
Again, sorry for my mistaken report of success. In retrospect, I should have known it couldn't be that easy.
(Earlier this year, I WAS told by a developer in Colorado that there has been limited success with Sprint S4 minis being unlocked for GSM both internationally and domestic. And a Sprint rep recently told me that this phone can be unlocked internationally for GSM, although I see that it is not on their list of unlockable phones.)
mobile tower problem
mobile network is disabled in my phone samsung galaxy s4 mini sprint spark meid:99000437598028
how to fix this
Hello,
I recently joined Sprint's network. I am aware that their phones are CDMA-based, unlike T-Mobile's and ATT's, which are GSM-based.
My mother has a Note 3 in good condition that she is getting rid of, and I'd like to keep it; but it's a T-Mobile model, and have been trying to find info. about whether or not the phone can be made to work in Sprint's network after unlocking it.
Any information is greatly appreciated.
No, 2 different types of radios. work with any GSM based carrier like T Mobile AT&T etc but not sprint
should work in 2020 as sprint is now owned by tmobile
