Greetings all, I'm a noob to the forum, although I've been reading a lot useful posts from xda.
I have a question here: is it possible for me to use N7102 on Verizon network? I currently use Verizon Droid RAZR and I also have an old GSM iphone 3GS on which I have a foreign SIM card. Since N7102 supports both GSM and UMTS with dual-SIM and dual-standby feature, I really want to get an N7102 so I don't have to carry two phones all the time. I'm sure my GSM SIM card can work on N7102, and since I'm on a long term contract with Verizon, I'd like to know whether I switch to N7102 with Verizon?
It looks like Verizon allows people to use CDMA phones other than those provided by Verizon, but they have a page titled "Check Your Device" for people to check if their devices are eligible (as I'm not allow to post link here, please just google "check your device verizon" to get the page if you can help). Since I don't own an N7102 nor do I know anyone who owns one, I would really appreciate it if any owner of an N7102 here can help me check if N7102 is eligible for use on Verizon network. Thank you!
100% no. The N7102 doesn't support CDMA at all. Think you'd have more than a little bit of trouble getting Verizon to accept a foreign ESN even if it did.

N719 might be the right one for you.
Mini Sim---GSM 900/1800
Micro Sim---CDMA/evdo
N719 is on sell in China.
N719 for China Telecom only?

I remember N719 is designed for China Telecom only, maybe I'm wrong.
If I'm correct, it should be using WCDMA network, are you sure it can be used on CDMA on USA carries?
Even so, I guess it may need to be flashed before it can be used on any USA CDMA network. Is that right?

I've just bought a Verizon Droid Incredible in ebay and i was wondering if i'm gonna be able to use it with my t-mobile sim card?
In case I can not use it, how can I unlock the cellphone?
Sorry if it is a stupid question, i hope you can help me guys!
Well the incredible doesnt have a SIM Card slot so im gonna go with no, but i may be wrong.
No, you can't, T-Mobile is a GSM band company in the US, and the Droid Incredible is a CDMA compatible phone.
so, there is no way to use the Droid Incredible in t-mobile??, which cellphone with the same characteristics and price do you recommend me??. Taking into account that I bought the incredible for $175. I'm living in Florida but I live also in Spain, so it has to be a cellphone that I can use in both places.
Thank you!!

T-Mobile uses 1700, 1900 and 2100 bands (according to Wikipedia), So if you decide that you would like to continue to use 3G in Spain, then you should subscribe to a network there with equal bands. If that isn't important to you then I think (someone correct me if I'm wrong) that you could get away with using an AT&T phone for Voice and SMS like some do here with iPhones on T-Mobile.
PhoneArena.Com is a great website that displays technical information about phones, ie supported Bands. and also allows comparisons between them.
My personal suggestion is if you enjoy an Android phone with a form of HTC software like Verizons Droid Incredible then T-Mobiles MyTouch 4G might suffice. Once again this is just my personal opinion though
But I hope this Helps
Thank you!!, but i think that they don't have cdma network in spain, and other thing that i don't understand is why the CDMA cellphones are cheaper than the GSM cellphones if the connection speed in the first one is supposed to be better.

The prices are determined by the phone's carrier.
I recommend the nexus one if you're on t-mobile and aren't looking to spend too much. Its the phone most like the incredible.
T-Mobile is GSM and the Incredible is on Verizon which is CDMA so no you can't use it on tmobile. If you want something like the Inc on Tmobile I would go with the G2 or Nexus S.
Regarles of the phone you get, get an unlock code from t-mobile so u can be able to use a different sim card other than t-mobile...
Sent from my Incredible using Tapatalk
A world phone would also work such as the moto droid 2 or wait for the incredible 2. It is supposed to be a world phone. You could use it on CDMA here and gsm in Spain.
Any way you look at it, you are going to want a global sim card for the country that you are using the phone the least.
I am interested in getting the Verizon model for how cheap it is. Is it possible to sim unlock the Verizon model to use on T-mobile?
I know someone is offering a boot unlocks and regular sim unlocks with GSM models. Not sure if it will work with the CDMA model.
Insights?
He said he can unlock Verizon locked Plays as well.
He just said on the 12th page post of his unlocking forum that the GSM baseband isnt supported.

I think @netorino is right, baseband doesnt allow gsm networks."
I am just asking and double making sure cause I kept seeing people using the word "unlocked". And I know unlocked has multiple meanings. (boot, sim, ect)

Quick answer? NO, absolutely not.
Longer answer?
Basically the SIM Slot seems to be physically uncoupled from the chassis. Further, the chipset that would be running the GSM is replaced with one for the CDMA. Whether it can function as both is a question, but the chip is actually different (from my teardown to look, the chip numbering is different from the tech/repair manuals).
I would, in general, assume that no phone that is on Verizon (unless it specifically says "World phone" or "World Edition") can be used on T-Mobile. CDMA vs GSM silliness. Different frequencies, different methods, different technologies.
So while the bootloader unlcok could work for the CDMA model, the SIM-unlock wouldn't.
Interestingly enough, there are still traces of the GSM code in the phone's diagnostic menus though.
i have a friend that has a phone repair shop in my hometown. i called him when i found a play that is cdma thru verizon. it is a world phone and has a sim card slot. he said that as long as its a world phone version it can be unlocked for gsm use in the united states. idk im getting one tonight and im gonna tinker with it and once i get it all going i will let everyone know on here if it can in fact be unlocked for gsm use in the US.
Well???

well turns out that the phone ended up not having a sim card slot and the person that i was supposed to purchase it from had no clue about anything. i did not end up buying this device. sorry!!!!
This was stated years ago, the R800x has a sim card slot but it is turned off on a hardware level. It is a non-functioning sim slot.
So I'm thinking of buying a Verizon Galaxy Nexus.
I know it has a sim tray so i'm wondering if it can be unlocked for T-Mobile.
Any help would be appreciated.

Sim tray maybe but the vzw one is cdma and the GSM one is...well..GSM.
Different technologies! Not compatible.
I have the Verizon phone and yes it does have a SIM card but it uses different radios. Verizon uses CDMA/LTE and T-Mobile uses GSM so you can put whatever SIM card you want in there but since it uses different radios it won't physically be able to talk to T-Mobile (or any GSM carrier's towers)
btw, what happen if you travel away USA in a country without CDMA?.
At least, the CDMA iPhone have a simcard tray but it's locked until your operator wants.

Starting with Verizon's 4G LTE phones they all require SIM cards. They were also used in 3G global phones (my old blackberry and droid pro had them) but the CDMA Galaxy Nexus isn't global so you'd just SOL.
well.
nope. it won't work cause it's not CDMA...

@[email protected] can't believe people are asking this question. The phone has been out for over 3 months now.
Besides, the SIM card slot is specifically for LTE... as in, the SIM card is an LTE SIM card. LTE, not HSPA+.
I can only think, because the AT&T (HSPA+) model would be more prolific among sellers, that you'll have a better time finding a better price than a Verizon (LTE) one.

Then you have no service. Grab a cheap GSM phone and pre-paid SIM.
Try the yellow or the sky blue Galaxy Nexus. Those ones will work on both Verizon and T-Mobile.

Back when verizon did both GSM and CDMA I had a verizon phone that I got to work on tmobile. I think it might have been a windows phone, honestly it was a while ago. I had to pay for a network unlock code and patch a radio or something....anyway, just wanted to say that it is in fact possible. My phone did brick in about two months, but that might have been from getting it wet...anyway...Good luck!

Total non sequitur. The phone in question must have been an old "world phone". The Verizon Galaxy Nexus never had any GSM radio whatsoever.
Also you bumped a 2 year old thread.

For the CDMA GNex you would need either a CDMA or neutral carrier/MVNO (such as StraightTalk, Tracfone, etc.). I have a CDMA ex-VZW GNex (now running Unlegacy-Android 7.1) that I am taking to Tracfone (replacing a Tracfone feature phone) because Tracfone uses a mix of carrier towers (depending on location, either T-Mobile or VZW). My current feature phone uses T-Mobile towers - because I am bringing a CDMA phone under BYOP, I have to ask the carrier (Tracfone, in this case) to create a custom SIM Kit for the brought phone, and thus have to communicate the IMEI and MEID of the incoming phone (this information is in the phone under Settings). Yes - this also applies to lifeline feature phones supplied by Tracfone/Safelink (if Safelink supplied the phone, Tracfone is your MVNO). If you want a GSM version of the Galaxy Nexus, you would want the maguro (the Galaxy Nexus in AT&T Mobility or T-Mobile guise); because GSM is more popular overseas, they tend to get exported compared to CDMA or W-CDMA (Verizon or Sprint, respectively).

The tmobile version is GSM whereas sprint/Verizon are CDMA. These are 2 totally different technologies. As far as I am concerned, there is no way to run a gsm device on the cdma network or viceversa. They use different frequencies, etc.
However, I may be wrong so let's wait to see if some with a better knowledge supports my claim.

My cousin(in his youthful stupidity) is with Verizon, he has a Motorola Droid(more stupidity) and for some strange reason it has a sim slot, and it is populated with a Verizon sim. I'm not sure why, maybe they do that so they can use phones that aren't normally CDMA? But then they'd need towers and spectrum for GSM. Who knows.
I actually sold an ATT S3, unlocked to someone on ebay and they tried to use it on vzw prepaid. Of course my ad said clearly it was ATT, and unlocked. I didn't think about needing to state it would NOT work on vzw. Your situation is a bit different however.

Verizon/Sprint phones are CDMA but the new 4g LTE phones from them are using a sim card slot for the 4g LTE network ... (correct me if im wrong obviously)
on side note: wonder if anyone knows how to flash the phone to verizon unleased unlimited plan $50 unlimited everything ?
Yes, the New 4g LTE phones from Verizon and Sprint have SIM Slot, and can be unlocked to use with other Carriers just like just At&t and Tmobile phones. so Sprint/Verizon phones have both GSM and CDMA chip.
Why would you buy a bad ESN phone for $500?? BAD ESN means LOST or STOLEN Phone.
You buy a stolen phone from eBay and you're surprised you didn't get what you paid for?
Stupidity.
Well being the genius I am failed to open the phone and see the huge sprint logo there. :silly:
It seems he is just running a tmobile Jedi rom and i just looked up the device id from the phones properties.
My fault guys. But not that it is a sprint phone that has been flashed to vzw prepaid. How do I activate? the MEID number that is displayed after the #*06# does not work on the vzw site or over the phone.

Check amazon for an ATT S3 phone. The one I got was classified as good, and it looks brand new, no marks nothing. I may have gotten lucky. I bought it from Amazon warehouse, not one of the other sellers. The price was a bit higher but it appears worth it. But with amazon if it doesn't meet your standards you can return it.
