How do you Flash?
I had the same problem,
Until I have flashed so:
1.Go to CWM Recovery
2.Wipe Data and Cache
3.Go to Advanced
4.Wipe Dalvik Cache
5.Go Back
6.Go to mounts and storage
7.Press on "mount /data" and on "mount /system" (then must be stay "unmount /data" and "unmount system"
8.Go back and flash you Firmware
9.Wipe data
10.FINISH
So it works by me ;D

When I click on the option to wipe my dalvik cache in Clockworkmod Recovery, this comes up:
E:Can't mount /dev/blcok/mmcblk0p2
(No such file or directory)
I can still wipe my cache though, what is it that I'm missing?
Are you booting into recovery from ROM manager? Just I got the same using Rom manager but not when rebooting the phone into recovery.

Nope, booted into it via the Advance Power Menu mod
its nothing to worry about, its just because there is no ext partition on yourn sd card
So I restored to t mobile stock on my sgh t989d and cwm 5.0.2.6 will let me flash but the roms that i flash never boot up and it says it cant open cache/recover/log please help

First update your CWM using this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1844637
Before flashing a new ROM it’s always a good idea to:
***create a backup****
*wipe data/factory reset
*wipe cache partition
*go to Mounts and Storage and select format /system
*go to advanced and Wipe Dalvik Cache
*Fix Permissions
Reboot and enjoy your new rom.
Problem:
I can't flash any custom rom successfully.
At first, I use CWM but I can't wipe dalvik cache.
Then, I switched to RZ recovery and it can wipe dalvik cache for me.
I wipe dalvik, data, cache before flashing many new roms, however, it just doesn;t work....just stay at s5660, some kind of screens
[solved]:
1. install EXT4 formatter via CWM5.0.2.7 rfs+ext4( I am using Stock RFS system ROM)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421650
If you have error status 6, unzip and repack it (save only or compressed best)
2.wipe data/factory reset and wipe data
3. advance-> wipe dalvik cache
4. flash a ext4 only CWM
5. flash MIUI ROM and it was successful
Re: frustrated flashing rom
Did you move from rfs to ext4??
Sent from my GT-S5660 using xda premium
I am using RFS format
tried cwm rfs or ext4. both not working to wipe dalvik
tried ext4 formatter but installation aborted (status 6))
anyone have idea?
Where can I find some old CWM to try? I can only find 5.0.2.7.
you need a recovery which supports RFS+EXT4 file system.check on development section.

Hi all,
I got sick of Android 2.3.3 on my Samsung Galaxy Gio so I decided to root it and install CM 10.2. I followed a trusted root precedure and ended up with my Galaxy Gio beeing rooted. Then I went on to installing Clockworkmod (again using a trusted method).... I followed the guide exactly, but the only problem I ran into was that I didn't have a "root" section/folder on my SD card... So I just put it into the card with all the other files (not into any folder) . I ended up with "Superuser" installed and I then installed "Rom Manger" and gave it superuser permitions. Then I went on to installing the ROM (again following a guide) . I transfered CM 10.1 ( for my device) and gapps 10.1 and put them into the SD card. I entered into recovery mode but for some reason I didn't enter itno Clockwork MOD ( I noticed no change in the recovery esthetics, but I carried on anyway...) I went onto part 8. - Backup and Restore but didn't see that option so I skipped it.. (I know I should've stopped here :crying: )... ) so I went onto part 9. - Wipe Data/ factory reset so I did that and then went onto "apply update from sdcard". I selected CM 10.1 but it "aborted" so I tried again and then again and in the end ( after no succes) I decided to "reboot system now" but after multiple tries I never got past the Galaxy Gio "loading screen" . Then I got really frustrated and tried to undo things by randomly flashing gapps, CM 10.1, the Update.zip (which I used for the rooting) and then I wiped the Cache... All leeded to nothing and now my device is bricked Please give me some advice
Thanks !
First thing: Keep calm.
Second: It's not bricked
So: You havn't installed CWM Recovery, right? Put the update.zip(clockwork mod recovery zip file) onto your sd card -> run up recovery mode on your phone -> choose "apply update.zip"(or sth like this) and select the update.zip -> since you followed up guides you know that you need to format your phone's partitions to ext4 format so you probably have "ext4formatter.zip" file from our MMB team, install it using "install zip from sd card" in recovery -> restart recovery -> "wipe data/factory reset", choose "wipe data/factory reset" -> find "format system" command and use it too -> choose "install zip from sd card" again and flash CM rom -> wipe data again -> done, should work.

Hi. The real problem here is that I can't "install zip from sd" - I just don't have the option in the recovery and Clockwork mod recovery didn't boot up I just can't do it.. And I don't have an "ext4formatter,zip"
Please read this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421650
Download version 5.0.2.7
After installing cwm just flash rom, it MUST work - otherwise you're doing something wrong.
Got it !

Do a full wife before you install new ROM.
For installation, first, make sure you got your ROM and the correct Gapps on your External SD Card.
After that, enter CWM and:
select "wipe data / factory reset"
go to "mounts & storage" and format /system. This is extremely important!
under the same menu, format /sdcard (be careful NOT to format /external_sd by mistake)
install ROM (from the external sd)
install Gapps (from the external sd)
reboot your phone

Sorry but I do not know where to find this:
...go to "mounts & storage" and format /system. This is extremely important!
....under the same menu, format /sdcard (be careful NOT to format /external_sd by mistake)
I suppose mnt/sdcard but I do not see any /system and what do you mean with format ?
