[Q] How to update and install apps without linking the account (without booting)? - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

I've bought a new Galaxy Nexus for my brother and I've installed the latest factory (4.2.1) image using fastboot. I'd like to update all gapps (I've already downloaded them usign APK downloader from the market) plus some other apps (Facebook etc.) without booting the phone and linking the account.
Is this even possible? I can easly boot into CWM recovery (oem unclocked phone). Should i push apps... but where? Thank you. :good:

You can skip the sign in at boot up, if that's your concern?
Just touch the four corners of the screen in sequence, starting with the top left and working clockwise.
You can then sideload apps.
I like to upload TiBu or a filebrowser apk to dropbox, and then download it through the built in browser (just download).
Once you've got your filebrowser installed, sideloading is easy...

Planning to uninstall Maps

Hi,
I am planning to uninstall the System app Google Maps using Titanium Backup.
For now I will use a third party app (Sygic). However in the future I may want to install it later, but if possible I will choose to install it as a normal app instead of restoring the system app.
Questions -
1. If I remove Maps, will it affect any other part of the system that you would like to caution me about?
2. If I replace the system app with normal app, will I be able to upgrade to next version of android whenever it's rolled out for my phone (Galaxy S2 I9100)? I am currently on Gingerbread 2.3.3.
Regards

I realized better place for this question would be on the Android Questions section.

[Q] Q - Rom. 4.1.2 - app installation issues

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1945441
'Lo all, using this - though I am utterly new to ... everything, let's say.
Anyway, I am constantly having trouble with trying to install apps. I had an .apk file which wasn't recognised as anything that could be installed (from email anyway), but now that I've managed to get it to be recognised, the phone is telling me that there isn't enough space! Even though it shows itself as having 45mb free, and the app is about 7.
any ideas?
Thanks

com.samsung.sdm file... what is it?

Hi, quick question for somebody that knows their way around this phone better than me... I am on the stock Jelly Bean ROM that came with it when I got the phone in early December... All I've done is root and add some tweaks myself so I can use things like Titanium, MyBackup Root, etc... in any case, I was trying to delete an app earlier this morning in Titanium, and accidentally hit the app above it on the list, and deleted before I uninstalled... the app was com.samsung.sdm... can't figure out via google search exactly what this does... I do know that some have frozen or deleted this file with no ill effect to performance... my question is whether this app has anything to do with OTA updates? Part of the reason I'm temporarily on stock (as opposed to custom ROMs I've used on every other Android phone) is to get OTA updates, and I don't want to have them blocked after accidentally deleting this app...
I found a copy of the sdm file in an older Titanium backup folder on my hard drive, so I know I can restore it, but before I bother, was just curious if any of you gurus could enlighten me on exactly what this file is and does?
Thanks in advance,
-A

Issue with latest version of Google Now

Guys, I think this is a bug related to the latest update of Google Now. Previously it worked perfectly, but now the Menu option is totally broken at least with the Note II.
Everytime I open Google Now and I try to show the menu to access to the Settings option, the menu pops out, just goes away the screen, it happens every time I press the menu key on the phone, and it's impossible to press any option inside the menu. I tested with other apps and so far, Google Now is the only one with this issue.
Anybody has experienced this with the latest version of Google Now?
Same here... Sure there will be a fast update
The menu is not in the correct position for me but it works fine. I saw someone with an S3 having the same bug as the OP though.
I had these on earlier roms, IIRC just clear google search data, uninstall the update then update again. You can try to clear 1st see if it works. Think I have also tried removing the system app and install from playstore...
Corrections, above was an old issue.
For the current temp fix, just touch the cursor area, 'Search, or say Google'. Then you are able to access the menu...

Try to format data/cache/dalvik, then re-install the ROM.
