I've the same problem and not sure I understood what you've meant.
I've info about apn but can't get where to add it. Was thinking of a proper file, if it is possible or is there a better way?
upd:
And yes, as the guy from '[Q] htc one v cricket no service issue' topic, I've no service either. Any help?)

What he meant is click on Settings - click on "Mobile data" (not on and off button), it will take you to the next page where you will see "Access points names", click on it then menu - New APN
But not so sure about fixing cdma device as I don't own one.

i have already found where the "mobile network" option is and i'm not clicking on the "On/Off" switch.Whenever i try to tap the "mobile network" field it just makes it "on" and "off" and i cant see these "Acess points names " option and all .Tapping on the field does not take me to new page.

bump..waitin for a much specific piece of information

Is VM your carrier? If not, you need to use a hex editor like hxd to open apns.conf from /etc and check if your carrier is listed there. If not we will need a stock ROM from your carrier to add the apn from.

Are you on boost mobile?

ok i created this thread to see how many of you are running on boost and how much you paid for it to be done or if you done it your self
Won't find to many answering that one cause of legal issues with it . Lol
I did it myself. I would suggest everyone do it themselves because when problems arise you'll know how to fix it. I see alot of people stuck because they don't know what they have to do when they lose data, and they have no more contact with the only person who has what they need. It's funner to tinker yourself anyways

I saw you sent me a message but this is exactly what I was going to tell you
This is my 2nd Evo on boost. Everything works just depends on the ROM I'm using. I find a lot of trouble sticking with ASOP ROMS as their lack of GPS support and no EPST menu. Other than that love it. I had mine done by the same people that also did my TP2.
And no, it's no legal if you're paying for the service ALREADY and you OWN your "to be" donor phone that you'd clone to the Evo.

[Q] Settings file for the stock ICS Wifi Tether App?

Does anyone know where the Wifi settings are located? Maybe there is a way to disable authentication in that file if it exists.
Thanks!
Edit: Just to be clear on CDMA version it "Authenticates" with Verizon to make sure you are subscribed to their tethering plan before allowing you to use it. I am hoping to find a way to disable that authentication using either sqlite or some other method.

I meant some kind of hidden settings text file like a build.prop file.
After looking through with SQ_lite I found a 'preferred_cdma_subscription 1' setting but it cannot be changes because "Error 5-Database is locked" anyway around this?

The option for an open wifi hotspot is given to you in the menu (as provided by itsjusttim above). You don't need to modify anything.

There are a number of apps to do it for Win7. You can also do it just using a script, or a few netsh commands (including on Win8 or even Windows RT).
Ok......I'm odviously a complete idiot because I've been threw this simple procedure about 10 times in the last 3 hours and have yet to get it right
I honestly think I'm following your instructions to the letter...
I download Wifi_8.zip
Extract it
Run Wifi 8.exe (install it)
Go into the propertie of the short cut and tick it, Run as Admin
Double click the short cut
I wait till winblows finishing identifieing the new network
Right click the new Local Area Connection*12 - choose properties.
Then the sharing tab, tick Allow other network users to connect and in the box under Home networking connection is Wi-Fi, which is the what my
WiFi connection is called................
What am I doing wrong, or not doing?????

3g/4g Network

Hi, my dad brought the this phone from China (for the second time, the first phone got bricked) and it came rooted with an ics rom. Wifi and the edge network was working, but I could not get 3g or 4g data. (It showed a 'G' on top of my network data bar on the top right). Is there a rom i can download that will allow at least my 3g data to be working. So far I tried cm10 but only the edge network worked and I had no wifi connection. My Baseband is SU640-MDM9200B V10i. I live in Canada and the phone is from China. Who knows what is wrong?
As far as I know the radios are different so that could be the problem.
Sent from my LG-P930 using xda app-developers app
you have to modify build.prop to correct region so your phone uses the proper radio settings for this region.
i'm not an expert but you can get a build.prop editor on play store, change the region to US i think it's ro.product.locale.region is the entry i think that's what it is on my rom atleast

Thanks for the suggestion, i tried your idea but no luck. I changed the value of that line to US and also CA but it was still giving me edge network.

Same problem happen to me when I changed the baseband before set the network mode to "GSM/WCDMA preferred".What I do is to rollback "the initial baseband" and make sure is 3G available.

What is your baseband now?Have you ever changed it?If yes, rollback your baseband using " dd if=/sdcard/baseband.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p14"(baseband.img is the one you used before,v10i,v10f...or else) ,after finish reboot your phone and set your network mod to "GSM/WCDMA preferred". Haven't done anything to the baseband. It is APQ806/MDM9200. Should I just type that line into a terminal I download from Google play.
Extra info: I'm rooted on the newest jb v30c but can't seem to get into recovery I think because it's a secured/locked boot loader.

Check "network mode",is it "GSM only" and unchangeable?Otherwise this probably not a baseband problem

Before and after I input the code the network mode says 2 things... Lte preferred and 3g only. Either one I choose gives me the 'E' network above the bars.

[Q] Problems with LTE

How can I disable LTE. I have tried a few suggestion from this site, and havent got it to work. I am not tech savvy at all.
I went and got at&t service in December 2013 and bought the LG G2 phone and loved the phone. Everything was great with
The phone, data speed and connections until April 12th. I was not able to load any web page, and when on facebook it would
not update the page. It would tell the that I was not connected to the network, when I had all 5 signal bars. I also noticed that it also
now said LTE under the 4G. So they sent me another phone (lg g2) and I still had the same problem, so I then went and got a new
sim card, and that did not fix it either. So they sent me another phone. So now I have the LG OPTIMUS PRO E980 . I also figured out
that the only time I am able to use data is while I am on a phone call. And when i make a call, it changes from 4g LTE to just 4G. So
I called at&t to ask them how to disable LTE and they told me that they couldnt tell me how to do it because they dont support it.
I work from home, and use my phone for work, so this is really hurting me. What isbreally weird is that I have a tower about 1/4 mile
from my house. I am sorry for such a long post. I am not tech savvy either, so alot of whatvyall talk about, I have no clue what
it means, lol. Like rooted, bricked and flashed. HELP PLEASE! Thank you in advance.
Under settings, mobile data, is there a place to select "preferred network type"? I remember it being there.
On cm11 it can be selected, either LTE, 3g, or 2g.

Yes, the option is there, but it is greyed out

Thanks so much
Have you tried changing the APN.
Its in setting/tethering & networks/mobile networks/access point name..
Once there click your menus button and add Apn..
Input the info listed below. One of these should accomplish what u want. Oh and make sure after you enter the apn to hit menus and save.

There is an an app that will let you set it to 3g, but it seems to require root on some devices:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.cc.signalinfo.
On some att phones dialing *#*#4636#*#* can give one access to these settings too.
I am not running stock and not on att, so I cannot test it.

What about APN'S for the LG G2 phone? I have to
send one of the 2 phones back, and I would much
rather keep the LG G2, if I could figure a way out to
not have to use LTE. I really appreciate everyones help
