Universal ROOT in 3 steps - Level: Asian - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

While searching for a method to root the JB build for the yarvik tablet of my family (usual methods have not been successful), i stumbled upon the following Windows based method that now i want to share and should work with a lot more devices:
On your PC:
1. Install USB/ADB drivers from your manufacturer's website
2. Install & connect via http://www.moborobo.com Management Tools, loads own device specific ADB-drivers
3. Download & install this Chinese piece of software from http://www.shuame.com/en/root/
Further steps obsolete, because they're offering an english Root-Tool now.
But for the sake of completion, they will remain here:
In case you don't understand what you do:
- On Website press blue download-button with arrow pointing downwards
- During Installation uncheck every checkbox except the one that grays out the next-button upon unchecking
the download has been a bit slow for me (10kb/sec), if it fails or the take it offline: drop a comment, perhaps i can share the setup file somehow
4. On your device: turn on USB-debugging
On your PC:
5. Run Moborobo Software, then plug your device to USB-Port, wait until Moborobo has recognized it (in my case i had to click some dialogues...)
6. Run freshly installed software from Shuame.com (titled Ë¢»ú¾«Áé in my start menu)
7. When shuame-Logo appears on your device's screen, head on the windows-software towards the 4th icon in the top row; on the appearing screen click on the 4th icon in the 2nd icon-row (the android with some chinese signs + ROOT as title)
on your device:
8. download SuperUser (or superSU) from Market or install via other sources (if not already done)
9. replace asian root / su files (recognized as older versions) with newer ones by SuperUser or superSU
10. delete 2 chinese shuame-APKs from /system/apps directory or uninstall via Titanium Backup
11. => you're done.
if more than 10 People complain they can't find the right button's to click
then i'm willing to post a few screenshots...
else: have fun!

No, i didn't see any custom recovery for this tablet, I think that it's because it's pretty new. But until now i love it. The only thing i saw was a "blank" forum thread on another forum which i can't recall right now, but i think you already saw that, if not i'm gonna link it to you.

Hello,
Bit of feedback on your guide. Could benefit other Slate users
First I tried only using my adb drivers and skipped Moborobo, but I got a blank screen with what looks to be half of the right side of the notification bar is darker. So I rebooted and all was well.
I used Moborobo and it found my device and I used Shuame and it looked to be going well until I reached the point of encryption. So the software says press the right so I do and then it rebooted. There was no root and on screen it is asking me to press the blue button again as the green bar was only half so I did. This then put me on a boot loop. I booted into recovery and rebooted to system. It worked. So the screen was still spinning trying to do something and then out of no where it rebooted and same again with the darker area. So I unplugged and rebooted and it worked. I got root.
Now just for the tricky part of removing these Chinese files lol.
Good guide mate. Thank you very much.

Well that's a problem for me, if i get that ..( i got black screen twice, I thanked god it wasn't bricked, and decided to not try it again... Lucky third? Either bricked or rooted, not going to give it a go ) )

If you follow what I did mate you will get root. Its scary but I got it in the end. Its safe to use.. as long as you get in recovery you can save your device.
I have the problem of adding in English SuperUser. When I do and install binary I loose root.
Could someone detail how to do this correctly please? I will still be searching and trying.

yea i refreshed it like 10 times but nothing happens...i think its because im using windows 7...should i try on a xp pc?
You can also try unrevoked3, that gets you su permissions then do toasts part 2 then use whiteslacks "how to start over method. Seems the long way around but you can usually avoid the problems simpleroot seems to cause some people.

They are easy to find, just run a forum search, use advanced search then forum title only, i dont have the links in front of me i would have to search for them too, you can also try this

This will only work if you have su permissions though. give it a try and let me know how it works. You can also pm me if you like so i can find out exactl where you are in the process.
ok guys good news...i tried the OTA simpleroot on the xp pc and everything went perfectly without any error, my phone is currently updating files in bootloader as we speak, but i have a question how do i user RA recovery instead of clockwork? does it matter or make a difference? or should i just leave clockwork and load a custom rom
personal preference really, i use Ra, just boot to recovery then flash away, either one is good, some say clockwork does not completely wipe ... I havent had any problems with either personally.
I had problems loading DC 3.2.X with clockwork... but ROM manager needs clockwork and is amazing

The tool was released from less than 24 hour,it got about 90 downloads ( first 2 versions got over 2400 downloads) i have got confirmations that it's working, plus if it bricked anyone i think they will rush to post about it,feel free to try it or not.
What is the advantage/disadvantage of using this verses using the Root method that QBKing77 did on Youtube? The BigRushDog root method? Pros and cons?! I used a One Click Root on my Epic 4G when it first came out and worked well AND stuck through multiple resets but I'd like to know about this for the Gnex Sprint. Any work on if my $$ in Google Wallet will remain after this? Got about $200 in there and don't want it gone
Took a gamble with this program,
It worked PERFECTLY on my Nexus 9023 4.0.4 Stock ICS.
Cheers sabra!!!
It really works!
I have the Sprint Galaxy Nexus. At first I had trouble in that it I didn't have all the drivers installed. I used the ones included with this download (64bit). Once I installed all the drivers and re-ran the program, it works like a champ!
Just a couple of points though, be sure to keep an eye on both your phone and the terminal screen on your machine while doing this. Also, follow the instructions exactly as it says on the terminal screen and on the phone. I never ran this app before and I was successful with it.
I'm glad this is here, if I had to do it old skool, I would have been pulling my hair out. After rooting so many of my other phones with ADB, I get tired of it after a while and I'm glad people like m.sabra are around to make life a little easier for people like me.
Thanks m.sabra, your contributions and efforts are definitely appreciated!
Thanks man

Welcome
Worked FLAWLESSLY! I have nothing but thanks to give to you! Now I can enjoy the full freedom of my Sprint Nexus.
used this kit to root earlier and i couldnt believe how simple the process was, except for one problem with superuser everything was good. I would recommend people use superSU instead of superuser initially cus the phone doesnt appear to root with the latter (at least in my case), CWM evthing flashes good though.
Me too
That's what I did too. I read up real quick on the difference between the two and apparantly, SuperSU is the 'newer and improved' version of superuser.

Worked flawlessly, thank you so much
Worked like a charm! i finally get to upgrade to 4.0.4 & on to Jelly bean! thank you sir!

Am I missing something? I extracted it but it will not run?
Nexus s, not working
hi,
i do have a nexus s with 4.04 (9I020xxKI1)here and a broken powerbutton, so i do need to find a solution to root it with some kind of one-click solution to install button remapper. I tried a couple of ways but all failed. Also this one. It works fine until the phone reboots and ends up in fastboot, the terminal at the computer tells me <waiting for device> forever and as the powerbutton stucks and kind of blocks the volume rocker, I cannot do anything on the phone while in fastboot. And no, the previously mentioned methods of others around here to tapp on the back of the phone does not work. So my question is why does the process stop here after all and is there any kind of way to root my phone without using the fastboot menu? i reallz do hope so, because it would suck so much if that would be the reason I have to abandon this otherwise pretty much awesome phone...
thanks so much!
I used this tool and I don't have superuser premessions and it says I'm not rooted. Also when I try to get the clockwork recovery it sends me to a screen with the android guy that says download and it just reboots. Thanks

try these steps and try to replace boot.img
(by copying boot.img file only inside the folder),from any other working roms
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1749212
older version of boot.img incompatible with black screen devices.
I've never had a recovery with a black screen [on any of my devices and I've tested my share of crappy recoveries]. The stock RUU recovery option sounds better OR flash a working recovery through fastboot. The whole point of a recovery is to have a tool by which you can reset/recover your device. If I have to drive in to a workstation and do an adb plug-in anytime I want to use recovery.. I'm sorry, but I'd seek a better solution. And that's without considering the security risks associated with dropping a firewall and adding a java dev kit. I would in fact, if I had experienced such, find out:
1. Why the blackscreen occurred
2. Fix it
3. Take preventative measures so that it would not occur again.
But that's just me. I wouldn't build a tool to propigate my device's bad behavior.

its fully upon users ,weather they are using it on firewall on or off.(it will work on both the conditions if the "adb" have the access to the port)
its just a recommendation from my side. That's it
Its fully safe from my end and free from any type of virus.
as i have already said this tool is not mine. Please consult the owner of this tool linked on first page of this Thread For future reference.
i don't know why this "black screen recovery" Problem is there with all the newly manufactured WFS.
Why occurred?
1. I am rooting and reflashing CWM on old wfs without any problem.(even rooted for the first time)
2. the same above is not working with any newly manufactured devices.(all working well but With a black CWM recovery)
3. My doubts are pointing, its a fault of hardware,or any kind of display adapters Upgradation from HTC Side.(May be HTC is planning to give supports like ICS etc for future)
4.Also Some rooting errors can be the catch,(Again if HTC upgraded something)
4.CWM is fully working without any error.(Blindly)
5.only the four keys are lighting up,
6.This tool is The only option in that case to flash any custom ROMS.

download poot, install it let it download and install ministro,
start poot,it will then start ministro
Ministro will create some libraries, thats ok.
Poot will then start, make sure to press the poot button and then it will give you some code

It worked great, I've been watching the forums for a root for almost 3 months. I'm new to this, but I believe I could write a book over the things I've read. I do have one question what is the next thing I need to do? Once again thank y'all for making a flawless way to root. Billy

Huawei Ascend Y H866C ROOTED!!!
If you have been lurking the posts on google for a root for the phone, you are just like me, so i
decided to learn some things. I contacted GiantPune and we worked together applying this root:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/k9b3ks
download poot, install it let it download and install ministro,
start poot,it will then start ministro
Ministro will create some libraries, thats ok.
Poot will then start, make sure to press the poot button and then it will give you some code
At the end of the code somewhere in there it should say sucessfully found and wrote su.
press the built in rootcheck to see if you are rooted
restart the phone go to the playstore and download Superuser.

few questions
Now i have read that many have achived root on the ascend Y H866C. What I have not seen if its there a way to go back if you mess up.
#1 Just for example.. i use dto own a galaxy precedent.. and if i messed up i could just go back and do a clean stock restore.. is that possible with the ascend Y?
#2 Once i achieve root.. is it possible to create a partition to install more apps and remove blotware apps ? and what apps or programs i need to create the partitions?
#3 many have mentioned about holding the up and down volume while holding the power button.. what does that doo? and do you do that once you are rooted or before? I have tried while the phone is off and on but nothing happens.
I really want to root my phone but if i brick i just want to know i can restore back to stock at least.
Thanks in advance to all the great devs and the smart people that make this possible.
Regards,
Pryma
Bump?? can anyone please help the ascend Y H866C community!

It's not very difficult.
Go to the previous page (page 4). Download the Poot posted by that guy that I still need to send a donation to (I promise I will, I have to wait until the first of Feb. when I have money).
1. Save Poot to the SD card.
2. Download and install SuperUser (or SuperUser Elite if you want, but it's not necessary to pay for SU Elite).
3. Run Poot. It will need to download Ministro II. Accept the download and just let Ministro II download/install.
4. Let Ministro II install the QT packages it needs.
5. If you want, Reboot the phone (press and hold power button, select restart), but I don't think it's necessary.
6. Run Poot again, it will give you a success or failure message. If you did everything right, it will give you a success.
SuperUser or SuperUser Elite is necessary just for the root. I don't know about ClockWorkMod other than that CWM does NOT (the last time I checked) have a mod that supports Huawei H866c. Now if you do get a mod on there, you don't need SU or SU Elite (most of the time).

Now I followed the above exactly and it appears to have worked. Here is what my screen looked like once done.
I tried to rotate the pics but could not do it had to retake. if its really necessary ill rotate them for ya.
It wont let me put links for the images or for other posts. I will update the post when i have the ability to
Hope this helps others in know that it does work. Now all we need if someone is willing to assist in making a stock recovery so we can go back to stock and make partitions for more space for more apps. Anyone out there can assist the H866C community please?
I'm fairly new to the android scene but have become very interested quite quickly once I started to learn more. I have managed to root my phone & get rid of google+, google maps, etc. I actually even uninstalled Google Play at one time & managed to get a version I found on KAT to load off of sd card with no problems so far, but still quite small internal memory. I read in my research about possibly being able to "trick" the phone into thinking the sd card were part of internal memory, is this real? Using Root All To SD I've managed to create and mount a 512mb external SD memory but can't get anything to move to it. Still never seems like I can get internal memory above 30. Any suggestions on how I could better unlock my phone to it's full potential?
hi ditch. Im on ths asme boat with you man. I saw your post on the other forum as well. Its frustratin to think that the H866C is not thriving as a great phone which i think it is! Im really hoping that other developers come to our rescue.
Im willing to pay someone to get a ROM going so we can partition and recover back to stock. Please PM me devs!! we really need your help!
Thanks in advanced
Regards,
Pryma
I couldn't agree more, the phone seems to be a really good phone (except the internal memory problem). It's just getting to the point now that I feel I must ask if it's something I should wait around on or if it would be in my best interest to get my money back and try to get a different phone instead.

Right now it seems like things are not looking good. For now im keeping my phone which is still functioning very well. Im keeping it in the hopes that someone comes and helps us resolve this issue.
TO ALL XDA DEVS! PLEASE HELP US OUT WITH THIS PROJECT. WE CAN WORK OUR A MONETARY DONATION TO THE SITE OR WORK OUT THE DETAILS! PLEASE HEAR OUR CRY FOR HELP.
that might be overkill and some might not like it but I just feel that they gave up on us. maybe because the phone is too hard or difficult to crack. I could not say or even imagine since im not proeffcient in this sort of things. However i think something could be arranged if they are willing for work with us. would you be willing to assist in payment or donation if they work on this for us ditch?
regards,
pryma
I posted questions on a couple sites & on one I got this is return:
Apps/scripts such as A2SD and Link2SD would work for you to accomplish that, however, I believe you'd have to have a custom recovery, as A2SD is a script that must be flashed from recovery, and while Link2SD doesn't need to be flashed, both require you to also partition the SD card and use one of the partitions for app storage. You might be able to use Link2SD without recovery though, if you partition your SD card on a PC.
As a matter of fact, I just found a guide that will probably get you through with little or no fuss:
(there was a link for a Link2SD tut here but I'm a noob so no outside links yet)
from BlastGT1 at UnleashedPrePaids
I've gotten a second partition made but still am having some trouble with linking apps to it. Hope this helps us on our journey somehow.
To all xda devs! Please help us out with this project. We can work our a monetary donation to the site or work out the details! Please hear our cry for help.
Using Link2SD I've managed to install about 70 apps and still have roughly about 60mb of internal storage left as long as I keep my cache cleaned up. So for now I'm doing much better than before. Custom ROMS would be great (don't get me wrong) but defeating the internal memory problem is a win for me. Thank you everyone for the help so far.

Backup image e988

Guys,
Anybody has a CWM backup for e988? Seems like I'm on "soft-brick" mode right now
Help much apreciated.
Thanks a bunch.
Sincerely,
Jonathan
You can use this method to download LG original ROM -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=44354300&postcount=1
Before you do it, read the instructions carefully (although from my experience even if it will flash your device, it doesn't wipe your data, but you'll have to do root again and reflash the CWM recovery).
Alrite --- let me try.
Once again thank you so much for your help.
I will share the result right after ...
Sincerely,
Jonathan
Liam,
no luck --- I can not even find the usb driver (I can not find my hardware model)
You don't need your HW model the tool should find your IMEI by itself.
Try this -
1. Download the LGMobile Support Tool from here (under Software Update & Drivers) and install it.
2. Open LGMobile Support Tool and choose "Install USB Driver.
3. Press volume up+down and then (still pressing the keys) connect the USB cable.
4. LGMobile Support Tool should see your device.
5. Go to the next step in the instructions I linked before.
If it doesn't work. Try to find your ROM here, and flash it using one of the tutorials on the forum.
Good luck
Hi again Liam,
still no luck with the USB driver --> so I'm downloading the ROM now (it will take quiet some time for that). I will let you know the result as soon as I completed the download. It's late already here so I will just let the download process run over night and continue to flash tomorrow.
Once again thank yo so much for your help Liam.
Sincerely,
Jonathan
Liam,
I finally able to run the LG Mobile Support tool (somehow I have to try it several times before I finally succeed). Failed to get the ROM though, said I already have the latest ROM. So I'm back to downloading the ROM from http://lg-phone-firmware.com/index.php?id_mod=25 ...

There are 3 ways I know to get the original lg rom (image).
1. Through the instructions I gave earlier.
2. Through the web site I linked in my previous post.
3. Calculating the the direct url to the image file on LGs servers (you have to google about it).
Liam,
I tried ran freegee again to test whether the problem persists --> and yes it is. Now I'm back to my soft-brick condition but strange that the same method (using LG Mobile Support Tool) now I failed to store the factory image. The message says that the battery level is low and upgrade is unavailable. I check my battery level is using the ADB command and it says that my battery is at 100%.
Do you know what I can do this time to fix my problem?
Thanks again,
Jonathan
Sorry I didn't come across this problem, try to do a search in the forum (you can try to search in LG Optimus G without the "Pro" forum too).
Hi again Liam,
After trying to do lots of things strangely yeaterday suddenly I can restore my phone via the same method.
Weird! But I'm glad my phone is back ?.
Once again thank you ...
