Hi,
I've noticed an issue with sending from different email accounts using the 'Email' app (not Gmail).
I have two Exchange accounts set up on my Gnex, however if I used the combined view and start composing an email I am unable to change which account the email will be sent from. Likewise if I am in the inbox for 'Account 1' then I am not able to choose 'Account 2' as the from account without coming out of the mail, switching inbox and starting a new email.
This is also a problem when using the 'share via email' capability of some apps, as I can't choose which account will do the sending.
Does anyone else have this issue?
This is also the same on my Nexus 7, so it's not specific to the device. Both are running stock unrooted 4.2.1

Ok,
(Cannot find any forum for just silly starter Android questions, so putting here since I have the Evo.)
Email.
I have two accounts set up and they are working on the Evo. (Hotmail & Earthlink) I do get that little notice on the envelope that an email has been received...but...I cannot tell which account has the email. This leads to two questions:
1) Is there any better (maybe app) way to switch between accounts? Having to make multiple taps to switch accounts seems huge waste of time when I would expect to just have both apps listed and chose which with one tap.
2) If not above, then how can I get two of those little envelope icons...one for each account. (My assumption would be that would split the notifications correctly and open the email associated with that icon)
Any help much appreciated as I find little when out searching.
Just to clarify, I am not looking to find a better way to 'combine' emails. I am not currently planning to suck everything into one account like GMail. I use separate accounts on purpose as they have different functions.
i guess you could probably get a separate email app from the market, use that for one of your accounts then use the other email app (the one that came with the phone) for the other account.
go to where you want to put the email inbox on a home screen, then long press, then click shortcut, then click mail inbox, then choose the inbox you want to see, presto a shortcut to that inbox. Hope this helps.
Edit: If you want to push these accounts through Gmail check out this post. You can add the accounts and show their inboxes seperately, and show them seperately on the home screen

Not sure if this is android or the email app problem. the sgs does not allow me to respond to meeting invites. I have to save to calendar manually. Anyone knows?
I have the same problem. Could not find a way to send an invite for an appointment, either. The email client needs some polishing ;-)
Here is my wishlist
1. Notification about incoming mails even if they are sorted into a subfolder (Server-side rules with my Exchange Server)
2. Improvement in how the folders are displayed. I've got subfolders of subfolders. All that is not presented very well. Maybe have separated views for folders and emails.
3. The invites issue solved as mentioned above.
4. I would like to have unread messages to be better distinguished from already read mails.
Maybe froyo is bringing all that to us
Have a good night!
Hu guys,
i do have the same issue here. No possibility to accept meeting request.
Works fine on HTC Desire ;(
I guess this is a general problem with the build in email client of the sgs. I read in other forums that will be solved by froyo.
In the meantime i am using Touchdown Exchange Client. This client looks great the push mail function works properly - the only issue is the low performance.

I believe XWJM1 comes with that features, but the same feature not available at XWJM5.
Hey guys I am not sure if this will help you but I too had the same problem I downloaded the app from the market called ICS-Bot and it reads the attachment coming in. I am not sure what email account you are using but what I did was have any emails going to my corporate or/pop3 account from my work and I set a rule up that will forward any email with the subject titled Meeting in it and have it forwarded to my gmail account and once it arrives it will be read as an .ics file where you can preview it and set it up on your calendar. The downside is that you cannot edit or send a response back but you can inout the event onto your calendar and set reminders, I know it is not what we want but at least you have the event in your calendar, hope this helps.
I just replaced my Tilt with a Tilt 2 and am now having an issue with my emails being deleted from the server when I delete them from my phone. I went into the advanced settings to try and change it, but the only options I have available are "Delete Messages from server" or "Move messages to server Trash". I would like to know if it's possible to have it set up the way it was with my old phone, whereas, when I deleted an email from my phone, it stayed in the inbox on the server.
I have looked for a solution, and I am not sure if there is one, but I *did* search for an answer before posting. Everything i have come across pertains to pop3 and this phone automatically configures the setting as imap.
I am accessing gmail, if that matters.
Is there a fix for this?
I have already read about moving them to a folder, which is the same thing to me as them being moved to the "trash" folder. I don't want to move them. I want them kept in the inbox.
Any help/suggestions are greatly appreciated. This is driving me nuts!!!
I had the same issue, i just select "mark as un-read" on the phone after i read them. if i forget to do that , the mail will just show up in my "old mail" folder.. then from my computer i deal with them..
That won't work for my initial request. I want to delete them from my phone, but keep them on the server. If I mark them as unread, they are still on my phone. Is there a way to change the email setting to pop instead of the default IMAP? I believe that was the setting on my first tilt, but this one automatically sets it as IMAP.
Thanks.....

You need to tell us which type of email you are using (Google, exchange, etc). But what you describe is IMAP behavior. Pop servers don't do that.
On Windows Mobile, Samsung Galaxy Devices with TouchWiz, MS Exchange and ActiveSync sync your text messages along with your emails. You are able to text straight from Outlook. New text messages arrive in your email inbox.
I have a Nexus which I have been playing with and exchange is working well. Unfortunately it's clear there's no option to sync SMS.
Did you know a way to get the function from my Galaxy S2 to my Galaxy Nexus?
I have test "Touchdown" but it´s "only" send the messages and don´t save it in de Message Application.
Anything I can do?
Thanks.

I know only limited apps can use the hover option (all samsung apps), but I saw that it can be used in the EMAIL app to show a message preview
most of us use gmail, so i was hoping it would work in Gmail too, or google would let it work in an update
any thoughts/news on this?
Doesn't work in Gmail but I think it does in the stock email client, just haven't set it up yet.

Gmail doesn't support it, the native email client that Samsung provides has that feature. Don't think Google will support it. Dont expect them to either. Its s feature only 1-2% of all of Android users will be able to take advantage. Not feasible.

Quick question.
Does the native e-mail app support sending e-mails that your main account can send from? Ie. I have hotmail/outlook and I link my school account with it so I can send e-mails from my school address via Hotmail/Outlook.
Not sure if I'm clear, but I just want to know my Nexus 7 nor my Sensation can do that, so I just wanna know if it's possible.

Yes you can set up for Hotmail account to send emails from the Email client provided by Samsung.

More specifically I was wondering if I set up Hotmail/Outlook to be able to send e-mail from another account (my .edu account in this instance) could I also send the message from that address? Sure I can reply to all e-mails with my Hotmail/Outlook address, but that's an issue if the e-mail was sent to my .edu address (and pushed to my hotmail/outlook inbox)
No push for me with the native email but it's okay with the app Hotmail. I must to choice between push and Air View ...
While it's true that few Android users will have an s pen there are some that use a mouse. How does Android react when you hover something with a mouse? If they treat the s pen hover the same as a mouse hover they'd kill 2 birds with one stone.
I'm trying to figure out how to get the s pen quick commands to work properly with the Gmail app. If I make a command to just open Gmail it works but if I try to make it so you can add a message or recipient the shortcut doesn't open anything. Kind of annoying. It must be passing the arguments wrong to the app. Even if I could get it to open a bookmark to "mailto:" with an argument for the recipient and/or message, I think it would function since if I make a bookmark to mailto and put it on the home screen it opens Gmail right up.
Too bad the quick commands set up is so very limited.
You could use exchange in the default email app for push but I read somewhere that Google stopped supporting that on Gmail accounts.
Gmail does support some other kind of push. Perhaps there is a different email app that supports that alternate push method and also plays nice with the s pen and associated tools?

I did figure out a bit of a workaround for my issue with the s pen quick command. I just set up the built in email app with my Gmail account but I unchecked "sync email" and set all the sync options to "never". I still get email pushed to me and I have Gmail set as my default mail client for if I click on an email address/send to link but if I want to use an s pen quick command to send an email to a contact, it will work. Just a slightly different interface which is no big deal. It's for send only anyway.
Also, if you want Google to support the s pen try using the "send feedback" option in the Gmail app and tell them so. I'm sure if enough of us do that they will listen.
