Put the edge of your hand on one side and swipe the hand across the screen like it was a handheld scanner. The image will be captured and saved in the Gallery under Screenshots.
For the palm swipe capture make sure it's activated in the motion settings

Setting - motion - select palm swipe to capture (under Hand motion)
for tutorial
setting - motion - Hand motion tutorial - learn about hand motion - palm swipe to capture
I use the palm swipe mostly.
You can also use the S Pen as well if you want.
Its about 3rd down in the list below.

This also gives you the option of annotating the screen grab before you save it :good:

My friend told me use palm to cover the whole screen then it can make screen shot but I try it not working
You have to slide the SIDE of your hand across the screen either left or right
Covering the screen with your hand mutes sound like music ect.

I can't get that slide your hand trick to work. You can press the home button + power button to take a screenshot too.
It's very simple.. This should help http://www.blogyourearth.com/en/sma...-samsung-galaxy-s3-palm-swipe-to-capture/3986
Make sure yu have the setting on.. Settings /motion / palm swipe to capture also the side of your palm has to be TOUCHING the screen as your swiping.. I've seen others with this problem they were waving their hands across instead of actually touching the screen...

That's one way. The easiest way, IMO, is the hold Power + Home button combo.

I still can't get this to work. If I touch my palm to the screen, the notification bar comes down or the screen swipes to the next page or something. Maybe I am just stupid. I will just just the button method forget this gesture crap.

Don't use your palm face down to do it.. You have to turn your hand right and use the SIDE of your palm then swipe across like in the picture in the link I posted.. Good luck hope you get it!

much easier to do the power button/ home screen combo.. the palm swipe is just for show imo.. sometimes my screen slides too other times i get it perfect.
doesnt really have to be the side f your palm. ive tested using each of my fingers and its worked.from left to right. it just takes a little getting used to is all
What's the best way to create a hotkey shortcut for a screen shot? With my previous HTC Amaze, I could press the Power and center button and it would take the shot without having to launch an app before hand. Anyway to do this?
Thanks,
You can do that with your galaxy s3 too
even with your hands on the screen !

Ahhh, got it! You have to hit them both at the exact same time. Thanks!
Also just learned you can swipe the side of your hand across the screen and it will also snap a screen shot.
You are missing the cool features of sgs3.
Swype from left to right or right to left with palm of your hand. That's how you take screen shot. Like you scan a page.

Yeah, but if you have folders open where you want to take a screenshot of the content swiping the hand doesn't always work (the physical touch on the screen closes the folder). For this I use the two button method.
i have looked but could not find what i was looking for.i have an sgs3 from sprint, stock.the swipe for screen shot worked then stopped working.i dont know if an app or setting caused this.i have the feature checked in options, but still no luck.can anyone help.if this has been discussed, please direct me to where.thank you
Idk but as an alternative, you can just hold home+power and it'll take a screenshot. Did you debloat your rom? Maybe you removed the motion apk?

Try this, go to Settings, then Motion, then scroll to the bottom. There should be a section title "Hand Motions". Make sure "Palm swipe to capture" is checked.

yeah i have done so a few diffrent times and still nothing.i have been reading diffrent forums and trying to get as much info as possible.will just resort to the home button/power button to use the screen shot feature.thanks for the help

yeah.i have tried a bunch of ways, but i am obviously doing something wrong.crazy how im making something thats supposed to be so simple so complicated..lol
Funny thing is I was watching a review on the SG3 the other day and the guy in the video couldn't get it to work either
The hold home+power button didn't work?

I gave up on using the Palm swipe method. Works sometimes and when it does I'm usually dragging a screen with it and taking a picture mid-animation. Home+ power works much better.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda app-developers app
It always works for me, but it can be clumsy and change the screen when you touch it. It is a neat idea, imo, so I wouldn't give up. Did you try doing a reset after wiping cache?

Make sure your using the side of your hand. (Like karate chop) place it firmly on the screen then pause for a sec then Swype. works for me every time.

yeah i just use the power/home button.the swipe is cool when it works.tried to show it off and made a fool of myself...lol
Is this possible? I don't like using the S pen to take screen shots because I always end up marking up the image and it gets annoying having to take it out just for a quick screen shot.
Slide your hand across your screen.. boom... I find it works best using the back of my hand with my fingers touching the screen as well
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda app-developers app
Yes if you swipe your palm across the whole screen either right or left it will take a screen shot. Also holding down the power button plus the home key will also do it.

Neither of these work for me, I guess it doesn't work on Nova Launcher and only Touchwiz.
Thank for the replies though!:good:
Edit: never mind, holding power + home worked! thank again guys!
Just hold power button and home button down at same time and it takes a screen shot hope that helps

also the palm swipe requires that you enable "MOTION" and check the screenshot option (motion is off by default unless you selected to enable it)
I can confirm ALL THREE operations function. press hold spen (pressing button) or palm swipe or simul press hold home and power.

Guys have anyone of you noticed that quality of screen shots is quiet poor ...its like quiet blurry..can anyone help me out with it...I never felt it on my galaxy note 3 or note 2 or note 8.0..it ruins the whole experience of taking screen shots of important articles and making notes over it...
This seems to be a limitation of the SPen enabled Screen capture only. When using other apps like Screenshot UX, the screen captures (especially the text) look great and are nice and crisp. Samsung needs to fix this issue.

I just tested my tablet by holding the power button and home key to take a screen shot and it looks good, don't know what issue's your having but tablet is sharp.
Take a look of this screenshot...no matter which way u screen shot it...whether by s pen or by holding home and power button text is not very clear

I second this. Same for pen or home+power.
Cheers,
Bjoern
My screenshots from air command are blurry while the ones taken by Home + Power are crisp and half the size than the former.
iiSo say we all!! from my SM- P600
My screenshots via S-pen or Holding the Power+Home are crisp too.
I have the same "issue". Both via S-Pen and Home + Power...
Very strange.

To me it honestly looked no different from my S3. I will have a look properly and will post some pics if I get a chance tonight after work but honestly the times I have taken screenshots the quality seemed pretty good to me whether I was pre-ocupied of just being excited about the S-pen but I'm sure I would have noticed if it was terrible quality like the pic you posted.
Earlier was somehow compressed...take a look at this one...its not very blurry but you cannot call it a crisp one...quiet low quality when compared to note devices..

Exactly, when taking screenshots with the Spen It will compress it to be used in the image editor.
When using the regular screenshot either swipe or Home+Power its an uncompressed png.
