It seems like TMobile US removed 5G cap for their $70 prepaid plan. It might be worthy for GNex to tether. But their web page
are very inconsistent. Anyone successfully switch the data plan to $70 prepaid unlimited?
http://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/monthly-4g-plans
I wish Tmo had reception here where I live, I would jump on that plan quick.
I was on the 5G for $70 and it automatically switched to unlimited (or at least that's what my account says). Never got above 4G, so I don't know if it gets throttled after 5G...
Good deal I been hoping they would offer a no contract legit unlimited data option. I might still go with the 30$ 100 min option though, just because I've gotten used to regulating my data for 5gb and don't use hardly any mins anyway. Oh well I got 2 more months to decide, maybe they'll have more choices by then.

You can always use the thrity dollar plan and just change it ton the seventy if you find yourself going over. Don't think you can do it the other way around

In my account's plan page it showed as below. It is very inconsistent.
* First 5 GB at up to 4G speed
Plan details : $70 UNLIMITED 4G WEB, TALK and TEXT
* First 2 GB at up to 4G speed
Plan details : $60 Unlimited Talk, Text & Web (first 2 GB at up to 4G speed)
* First 100 MB at up to 4G speed
Plan details : $50 Unlimited Talk, Text & Web (first 100 MB at up to 4G speed)
I'm definitely switching to this. Sick of trying to deal with VoIP on the $30 plan, and, while I'll rarely take advantage of it, having truly unlimited data can't be argued with for peace of mind on vacations or whatever.
Tmobile won't let you activate a tethering plan with the unlimited 4g plan, I tried and it different work anymore

Since it is a newer plan, I would imagine that they are still working at getting current subscribers ported over to the new plan. I would also guess that if you do go over your "limit" that you could be thrown onto the applicable plan by calling to customer support.
Looks like a great deal, one I would definitely hop on if I didn't have such great service through Verizon.
I bet some of the mnvos will follow suit, or at least modify their definitions of "unlimited" data.

I switched over on Friday and purposely passed 5GB by re-syncing a ton of my Google Music library. No throttle.

Good to know. I will try to download things like Linux image to test the throttle.

As you probably know, Verizon no longer offers unlimited data. I luckily managed to get in before the change, but I still cant believe this b.s. ... especially now that they have 4G. Heck with 4G you could easily go over the 10GB plan(the best they offer) in a single day. Even on my Inc 2 I still average 20Gb/month.
It really bothered me because I thought of getting rid of my Inc 2 and getting a tablet, then switching to a data only plan... but ofcourse then it would no longer be unlimited.
Are any of you guys upset about this? Think it will hurt Verizon?
im not too upset by it since i was able to get a discounted incredible 2 and unlimited data the day before they changed plans. what i am unhappy with is the pricing of the new plans. 30 for 2gb? i feel they should have offered a cheaper plan than 30. i rarely go over a gb of data since i use wifi mostly so it would have been really nice to save with a cheaper data plan.
Anyone already on an unlimited plan is grandfathered in. This includes adding a new line or device under your account. Only new subscribers at this point are stuck with tiered.

Actually, there is a catch. I added the unlimited data to my plan late June when I heard they were making the move to tiered data even though I am still sporting a Chocolate 3. Yesterday, I snagged the Inc 2 through Target for free. Checked my new plan on Verizon and they put me on the 2GB plan. I called and was told that I had the Unlimited Data plan for "Feature Phone" and now I have a Smartphone so 2GB for $30. After, telling them to cancel everything they finally changed it over. So all good now, but I never knew that the bits were different on Feature vs Smart phones.
I read everywhere that even if you have an account it doesn't matter unless you have unlimited. No grandfathering in when you add a line. Looking for the links

yeah i've read this also. i'm pretty sure it was on a link showing internal communications within verizon saying that.
also, to the OP - how are you using 20GB in one month??

well, i go 'mobile' a lot with my laptop and so i use tethering often. also, i don't have a tv so i will stream a lot of movies on my phone & watch that way while laying in bed. additionally, when i'm at work or driving around i have it stream music quite often.
Tiered doesn't matter to me at all. I use around 1GB per month at the most, so having a 2GB plan with a 2GB Tethering (for my Galaxy Tab 10.1) on top for a little under 39 bucks (with my discount) isn't all that bad. Sure, unlimited is better, but I don't use more than 2GB anyway so what do I care. I do wish they had lowered the price to the lowest plan though...that was kind of disappointing.
20 GB a month? Wow.. At my worst, I only managed 3, and that was a little under 2 GB mobile and over 1 GB tether.
Hello, I currently an on sprint but am wanting to move to t mobile. My family already has a family plan classic plan 1000 minutes plus unlimited msg ($20 add on) plus one of the phones with the $20 2GB data totaling a hundred a month. would it be better to add a lounge to their plan with the s3 or go individual? I never added a line before and the website was confusing me as it said that I have to pay for a plan with data totaling $95 for myself? Am I doing this wrong? I want to add a line plus 5GB data which is $35 and perhaps up the minutes to 2000
My life for Aiur
I just switched to the value plan. Unlimited everything including high speed data up to 5gigs, plus 20 a month for my phone, two lines , and I pay 160 a month. From what I understand you can add lines for 5 bucks a piece on the value plan.

It might cost you a little more, I used to be on Sprint they good coverage but network is too slow, unless you are in a lte market, that being said you won't get as many minutes or data for the same price I pay like 85$ for one account and 500 minutes, unlimited text and 5Gb cap after that, if you buy the phone outright it would be cheaper tho, like 65 for the same amount of data and minutes, you could also add unlimited wifi minutes to your account, if I were in the market for a phone and good and cheaper data plan I would get the galaxy nexus for 350$ from the play store and tmobile 65$ price, your off contract and you have a worldwide phone as well

I'm on T-Mobile .. single line. Unlimited everything 78$ a month ... its the classic plan ... I think t mobile has the best pricing .. att and Verizon are way too overpriced and sprint internet is bad.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
The minutes of family plans are pooled. So if you choose 2000 minutes, it will be 2000 minutes for everybody. This means you will also have changed their original pricing plan (1000 minutes to 2000 minutes). This makes it a little more confusing. If you keep their original plan and just add yourself as the third family member it should be $5 plus $35 for 5gb of data (....I think).
Btw, Aiur is dead many years ago. Long live Sakura.

This must be a granfathered plan? I signed up for tmo a month ago and the closest classic plan they had to your pricing is the $84.99 classic plan but thats only 500 min, unlimited text, and 5gb data. Ended up buying the phone for retail at coscto and getting the $64.99 value plan which is also 500 min, unlimted text, and 5gb data.

Hey all. I've been using Straight Talk with an ATT SIM but I'm tired of getting throttled for no reason. I want to switch to a plan with ATT. I would use roughly 2-4 GB a month and prefer unlimited talk and text. Any ideas on a good plan or deal?

although you wont be throttled in speeds, you'll be throttled in the wallet as a major carrier is usually going to cost double or more.
currently, an AT&T individual plan with 450 minutes, 3gb of data and unlimited texting is $90 before tax
a mobile share plan with unlimited minutes, unlimited texting and 4gb of data is $110 before tax
i have at&t. just want you to understand the cost difference

Re: Best ATT plan?
I appreciate the quick response. Yeah, I know the price is gonna suck but honestly I have a tough time trusting ST anymore. They literally told me my plan was throttled because I use FB and Twitter. When I was on Sprint I used maybe 5gb a month. Came to ST and started off using around 2 but for throttled. They have me down to 1GB a month and I STILL get throttled. I don't stream anything and only use a few mb a day. They have a new "department" now for high data use subscribers. Its a voice recording telling you how to minimize your data use. That's it. My plan renewed and it went right back to 200k down. I'm ready to pay more so I can actually use my data for more then just a quick web browse. The price is great but they're so unclear about their policies and its impossible to find someone there who actually knows what they are talking about. Pay for what you get I guess.

And don't forget, it's $10 for every Gb you go over your data plan

As mentioned before there are several options with AT&T, but they come with a price tag. If you want unlimited talk and text and a limited data then mobile share is the way to go. If you have family, or family members who you trust will pay their share of the bill, you can add lines and spread out the costs SOME. There is no right or wrong choice...it is dependent upon you and what you want and/or need. Keep in mind that you can tie into AT&T wireless areas as part of the plans so you can help limit some data usage.
I just went on the t-mobile website just to take a look to see if there were any changes to offered plans to save me some money. Still have that migration fee to get a cheaper plan, but I was able to upgrade my data plan from 2GB/$20 to 4GB per month (or 4GB + 500MB, not sure) and it only costs $15 per month on sale right now. They also have discounts on higher data pans like 6GB 8GB 10GB...
Go check it out! You might save some money and get more data! I didn't have to change my plan or anything else.

Sucks they don't have the 500 minute plan...like I I don't need unlimited so why should I have to pay the extra $10. Thankfully I am already on that plan. Carriers know that people don't use as much mediums with so many other options to communicate so they are forcing it down our throats. Really thinking of going back to Virgin Mobile and dealing with their stupidly slow speeds...too bad I am on contract for another year or so

dang i just checked it, it's 30 dollars :/ oh well.

It may be because our family has been with T-Mobile for more than ten years.

Edit: just noticed this includes mobile hotspot...and 500MB is included for no charge? Damn this seems like too good a deal.

I don't have much information to say but I believe the $15/mo reduction is only for classic/grandfathered plans. In other words, Bridge to value. Since I don't have enough information from that image, that is the only thing I can think of. Basically, it gives you early access to EIP for phones or how value plans work (bring your own device or financed for 20 months I think?) for upgrades but you do not have to switch to the value plan.
Just to clarify

My exact setup..! LTE most of the time no more freaking contracts!
56 and some change. Unlimited everything and insurance with no cap on data/LTE. I don't tether too often unless I go on trips with the family, but I never had any problems with paying more.
Current bill averages ~103/month.
Simple Choice Plan: Unlimited Talk + Text = $50
Premium Handset Protection Bundle for Premier Devices = $11.99 (Dunno why I'm still paying for this.)
Unlimited Nationwide 4G = $20
Monthly Equipment Charge = $20
I also have one of those soon-to-be deprecated corporate discounts taking off approximately 10/month.
Coming from Sprint, I have to say I have had a very high quality experience with T-Mobile. I also use the hell out of their international data service in Canada. I could pay off my device and reduce my monthly by 20 bucks, but 0% financing is impossible to beat.

Yep, no point in paying off 0%.
We just moved from VZW. My wife was an employee once upon a time (got swept up when Frontier bought a bunch of the landline business). We still got the discount, but now we pay less than we did on VZW even with the discount. We are not heavy data users, so we just have the new family plans with 1 GB each LTE. I'm using my VZW S4 (everything works...mostly Band 4 LTE around here so I am good to go). She got a new iBend 6 , mostly for the better keyboard case options once the accessories get rolling (she is coming from a Droid 4). We pay $80 for the service.
(About that 1 GB: we have guest wifi at work and I use OpenVPN. There just is not that much time that I am away from wifi, and when I am, I'm busy doing something, not dorking around on my phone. I'm a middle aged dad...no music streaming, watch movies on a real TV with real surround sound, and play games where God intended: on a PC.)
