Should I buy from T-Mobile Prepaid website? - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I use Straight Talk AT&T at the moment and I bounce prepaid service. I'd like to buy the Samsung Galaxy S III from T-Mobile and get the SIM unlocked via a hack I saw on here but I wasn't sure if you have to activate a prepaid plan with first? Or could I just buy the phone and SIM unlock without repercussions?
I could get the Galaxy S III from Amazon Wireless for cheaper with the AT&T variation. But, it's likely that I'll jump back to a prepaid T-Mobile plan. The lack of DC-HSPA+ would make a difference and that would be tougher to get HSDPA because refarming isn't complete.

Anyone know if they lock down their prepaid phones or if you have to activate a prepaid plan?

No they dont lock down their phones yes it's carrier locked but u can unlock it it'll work.

If I were you I would go with the T-Mobile 70$ prepaid plan. This plan now offers true unlimited 4g data no caps.

Unlocked GSM GNexus w/ a minute only plan?

So I have wifi available at home and at work, and my wife owns a wifi hotspot. I dont need data for my phone.
Would one of net10's minutes only option work for the GNexus?

BUMP! There are like 1000000 posts a day going on right now about JB lol.
Anyone have any idea about the minutes?

I talked w/ a Net-10 CSR and was told the same thing today. Shucks!
Prepaid plans with unlimited minutes, like the Straight Talk $45 plan, are an amazing deal and you still get data. You don't need to gimp yourself with a minute-only plan.

10$ a month....if you go over the minutes then it goes up to the next tier
Get the sim card and they give ya extra minutes too (instead of the free phone)

where can i buy a non-at&t micro sim?
So... you want a T-Mobile microsim? Are you planning on activating it or just using it to activate a phone?

+1 on that considering you will most likely be using AT&T's service anyways but you have a cap of about 2gb of data for $45 a month with unlimited everything... Sim cost $15.00 shipped at straight talk's website...

[Q] Recommended carrier for Tmo GS3

I will be getting a T-mobile GS3 out of contract soon, and I was hoping someone could recommend a carrier. I would like to go with a cheap prepaid plan, and I don't use that much data.
Can anyone recommend a good prepaid carrier for a non-LTE phone? What (no-contract) carrier do you use?
T-Mobile would be your best bet. Followed by Simple Mobile.

Or Straight Talk.

T-mobile has $30 a prepaid plan with 100 minutes, unlimited text, and 5GB data. If you are worry about the low minutes, you can combine it with Google Voice.

Should get 2yrs contract or buy it off :)

Hello
Guys I was wondering should I get 2yrs contract or buy the phone and use pre-paid. I am already using the pre-paid 2GB plan but I was thinking about unlimated plan but for unlimited plan I have to buy post-paid.
Suggestion would be awesome.:cyclops:
It depends, do you need unlimited data? & prepaid is $60 flat (for the 2GB plan) and contract is usually more for the same plan + tax. I wouldn't get a contract unless I was getting a family plan. If you constantly go over 2GB upgrade to 5GB & if that isn't enough then go for the unlimited plan.

Thanks it totally make sense, 2GB is enough for me for sure cause most of the time I am on wifi.
Why not use straighttalk or simple if you want to use 2gb? Cheaper that's for sure

Impossible because simple mobile uses t mobile towers.

Dollar for dollar you are better off buying outright. You will pay way more in the long run on contract. And yes. Depending on your location, simple and straight talk both use T-Mobile towers.

[Q] Contract terminated

So my Sprint contract got terminated for roaming. It will be effective next month.
I had really bad service where I lived. My signal would sometimes just go dead and would have no data just cellular and 3g 4g speeds were abysmal.. Trying to watch a youtube video or even load a gif HURT.
My question is while I go on about selling my GS3, what are my options for service? Can my phone go on a Sprint month to month service while I can jump ship?
Question for you, did Sprint charge you the ETF or anything like that, like was there any negatives other than service being cut?

Nope. The letter stated no ETF would be applied.
Really, I'm happy. Their service was unusable and I got tired of waiting on promises of better coverage. I think at this point in my area going with an unlocked Nexus 4 on TMobile prepaid is my answer ($50 a month unlimited everything. Speeds are terrific 16mbps+ in my apartment).
Just trying to figure out what can I do while I find a buyer for my phone and jump ship
You could flash to page plus in the mean time which uses Verizon's network. Or activate a cheap phone on your line right now and sell the gs3 now

I know T-Mo prepaid has a $30 unlimited Text and data(throttled after 5GB) with 100 minutes a month. Unless you need the unlimited minutes, I'd say the $30 would be a better deal.
As for selling the phone, I'd say try EBay and Craigslist.

I sold my nexus s on swappa. It took a couple weeks but it was very easy and secure.

I thought they still have tethered plans, but also offer a fully unlimited plans. I may be wrong though.

I was looking at TMO before deciding to extend my contract with Sprint and upgrade to the SIII. TMO does have plans that are cheaper which doesn't allow tether (unless you add it on - $15.00/month) or more expensive plans that do allow tether but aren't unlimited. It's all a cluster.
