Hello
Guys I was wondering should I get 2yrs contract or buy the phone and use pre-paid. I am already using the pre-paid 2GB plan but I was thinking about unlimated plan but for unlimited plan I have to buy post-paid.
Suggestion would be awesome.:cyclops:
It depends, do you need unlimited data? & prepaid is $60 flat (for the 2GB plan) and contract is usually more for the same plan + tax. I wouldn't get a contract unless I was getting a family plan. If you constantly go over 2GB upgrade to 5GB & if that isn't enough then go for the unlimited plan.

Thanks it totally make sense, 2GB is enough for me for sure cause most of the time I am on wifi.
Why not use straighttalk or simple if you want to use 2gb? Cheaper that's for sure

Impossible because simple mobile uses t mobile towers.

Dollar for dollar you are better off buying outright. You will pay way more in the long run on contract. And yes. Depending on your location, simple and straight talk both use T-Mobile towers.

Just wanted some opinions from you guys that own an s3 on tmobile.
The plan I have is unlimited minutes, unlimited text, and 2gb of 4G data(unlimited throttled).
It's a two year contract classic plan that expires next month in February.
My average over the last 3 months of whenever minutes is 447, and data around 1.1gb.

I was thinking of going with the value plan with 500 minutes, unlimited text and 2gb of 4G data for $49.99 which is a 30 dollar savings each month. But I'm sketchy about the value plans for some reason.
Has anyone switched from a classic plan to a value plan without issues and not regret?

Try Straight Talk

My contract with TMO just ended as well so I decided to try an alternative myself. I unlocked the phone, went to WalMart and bought the Straight Talk SIM. It costs 45 bucks a month + 15 bucks 1 time for the SIM for unlimited everything (TALK, TEXT & DATA) and uses the AT&T network.
So far so good!
I'm running the Domination V2 ROM and everything seems to run great.

Out of curiosity why did you go with the att sim, because I know straight talk also has a tmobile sim.
I put in an att sim card in my tmo s3 unlocked, and the data speeds were really slow.

They were out of the TMO SIMS when I went to the store. AT&T and TMO seem to share the same towers in my area so I haven't noticed any reduction in speed. Tethering works great as well..
I went from classic to value one month ago no more upgrades but you can get a subsidized anytime you want. Saving 100 dollars a month on my bill

Switched to value plan and added a fourth line. We share 1000 min. Unlimited text and unlimited data with 2gb high speed. Although i live in 2g area. I pay just under 140 a month
. We do have the insurance on 3 lines

Wouldn't 500/1000 minutes or w.e the classic plan is be like $10/20 cheaper a month? I think they allow you to change without a penalty...
Here's mine...
5 lines
3,000 shared minutes.
Unlimited texts.
3 lines have unlimited 2gb data & 2 lines have the unlimited 5gb.
Edit: oh yeah forgot to add that 4 of the lines have insurance.
Total bill after taxes is $230

We have 3 lines 1200 min ,unlimited text ,5gb data each and [email protected] home. Also all 3 line have insurence. I pay 150. Although if I wasnt on contract and it was just me I would use straight talk.
I have one line, 500 min, unlimited txt, and the unlimited 4g, paying around 85 a month. Value plan though so when i finish paying up the S3 it will be $15-$20 cheaper, though I'll probably end up getting the s4 so it will stay around the same

I'm running simple mobile. I play 50 bucks a month and I have unlimited talk text and HSPA+ 42.2. So its like having the actual T-Mobile but for cheaper, however, some say that they threat on account cancellation after 2GB. I'm surrounded by WiFi and I don't watch videos on the go lunch so I've never gone over the 2GB. I may go to straight talk AT&T because I know AT&T has better coverage but I know I won't be getting 12mbps down anymore. It will.be more like 4 or 5. I also heard that straight talk kills some customers by throttling them to 200kbps. So that's the only reason why I'm afraid to switch from simple

one thing u need to think about be4 u change classic to vaule,do u want getting new phone with 2 yrs contract?if yes, then dont change to vaule, classic change to vaule always no problem becuz vaule is $10 cheaper then classic on monthly payment, but if u reget, want to back to classic, sry,u cant, unless u cancel the whole vaule plan and active a new classic plan...and for u,i suggest just change to $39.99 500 min classic with 2gb $20 web,if u really under 500 mins usage for the pass 3 months and no text message usage

well I do use texting.. a lot lol so i need that
i was thinking either of going with simple mobile 50$ unlimited all, or with the value plan of 500mins, unlimited text, and 2gb of 4g data, or the new prepaid plans the other member mentioned.

ok,so u can add MSG too.....lol,simple mobile $50 unlimited is not ture unlimited, cuz data will drop speed after 2gb,my frd has it ,so i knew, vaule plan,as i said,do u want upgarde phone with a cheaper price when ur contract was end,if answer is yes, dont change to vaule, classic one ppl plan has $39.99 500 mins plan, then u can add unlimited text and $20 2gb web if u want, just $10 difference with vaule plan...i worked for tmobile be4,so i know vaule plan is nth but only for those dont have enough credit to have a classic plan,so thats why when u chang to vaule,u will lose the benefit to get new phone with cheaper price, and dont believe those rep in call center when u call customer care, they push u to change to vaule becuz they can earn bonus for that
I use Straight Talk AT&T at the moment and I bounce prepaid service. I'd like to buy the Samsung Galaxy S III from T-Mobile and get the SIM unlocked via a hack I saw on here but I wasn't sure if you have to activate a prepaid plan with first? Or could I just buy the phone and SIM unlock without repercussions?
I could get the Galaxy S III from Amazon Wireless for cheaper with the AT&T variation. But, it's likely that I'll jump back to a prepaid T-Mobile plan. The lack of DC-HSPA+ would make a difference and that would be tougher to get HSDPA because refarming isn't complete.
Anyone know if they lock down their prepaid phones or if you have to activate a prepaid plan?
No they dont lock down their phones yes it's carrier locked but u can unlock it it'll work.

If I were you I would go with the T-Mobile 70$ prepaid plan. This plan now offers true unlimited 4g data no caps.

Hi all,
I am currently using the $30 T-Mobile monthly plan (100 mins, unlimited texts and web) in my T889. The 4G service around here is shaky at best. I got a ATT Net10 sim card and am thinking of moving over to that for the potentially better service. Has anyone had experience using ATT Net10 on this phone and if so, did you have any problems? What were your experiences? The T-Mo plan is great for me the way it is set up, but the service is a damn killer. I also love when talking to T-Mobile reps in their stores/kiosks, they disavow all knowledge that my plan even exists (it's listed right there on their website, much as they try to hide it).
Thanks!
Sent you a pm

I went to Canada today for the first time since global roaming became included in our plans. Overall it was a good experience. Google maps worked well for over 100 miles. I tested out groove ip. The call quality was fair but not great. I tested zoiper with VoIP.ms using the g729 codec and the call quality was better than groove ip. A few Google searches worked as well. I'm attaching a screenshot of the t mobile text I received as soon as I started roaming. All roaming where I went used Rogers network.

thanks for the info. I've been wondering about their global roaming but too lazy to research

I'm in Montreal this week and got the same text. I thought it seemed ambiguous. It isn't clear whether my *current* plan qualifies for free text/data or if they are telling you there is a plan that qualifies.
So I called TMo and asked...was told for my plan:
Calls $.15/min. Txt $.50/msg. Data $10/MB
Wow.
So I've been in airplane mode all week except when I have wifi calling turned on.
Needless to say I'm rather irritated about the msg from TMo as I could have easily racked up a 4-digit bill in 3 days time.
I'm on a shared small biz plan with unlimited everything.
I'm on the $70 unlimited plan. My wife has the same plan. I thought the business plans would be even better than the unlimited plans. Guess the devils in the details. Our bill is definitely cheaper than it was with Verizon. My bill with Verizon was $250-280 a month going to Canada regularly with light data usage. Were saving about $80 a month and were making monthly payments on our phones plus insurance. Aio/straight talk & go phone are a no go if you live in Buffalo and go to Canada frequently.

Do I see this right? They're charging you for wifi calls?
WiFi calls are free to USA. 20 cents per minute if calling a Canadian number.

So no one has really confirmed that it works this way with prepaid plans... hope someone can chime in soon
There are prepaid plans that there is no credit check or anything. You pay ahead of time as well. The no contract plans are paid following the month of use. So they are not all prepaid. There are prepaid and no contract postpaid.

This new data plan they have is awesome. I'm retired Army and my wife is currently deployed overseas, this new plan helps because now she can text or Facebook messenger/skype (slow) me and the kids and was able to see instant pictures of our grandson who was born a month after she left.
Ask this at no cost to us. And she gets to use wifi calling to me free and when no wifi available calls are only 0.20 cents a minute.
The call quality is Pretty good seeing she is way on the other side of the world. There's only like a 2 second delay.
