Tpu case + full coverage screen protector - Galaxy S III Accessories
View attachment 1628614So I finally got a tpu case for my s3. And now I'm in the market for a new screen protector. I've searched around the forum, and the consensus is that screen protectors that cover the entire front of the phone (e.g. realook 3d forming and spigen curved crystal) will eventually just start getting pushed up at the edges by the tight tpu case. However, looking at my cheapo ebay case, the edges of the case only just barely cover the chrome edges of the phone, no more. I'm wondering if anyone has experience trying out a full coverage screen protector along with a tpu case. Is it feasible? Here's a link to the case I'm using:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Black-S-Curve-Soft-Gel-Back-Case-TPU-Cover-for-SAMSUNG-Galaxy-S3-III-L710-/130746295599?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item1e7116252f
I've tried a few full screen protectors with my diztronics tpu case and they all bubbled up at the edges. I finally went with the dba just like glass protector because I hated the edges being raised and it works perfect with the case. It's also very clear and smooth. I would recommend it over everything I've tried so far (cheap protector that came with the case, skinomi tech skin and zagg invisible shield). You won't regret it, great protector.

I believe all full screen protectors will cause issues with slim tpu cases because they dont overlap the protector. My xtremeguard lifts with my zoogue case.. but not with my uag nor seidio surface or any other bigger case

well I guess that settles it. Now I just need to find one that's compatible with tpu cases and has some decent coverage over the edges of the screen (but not just the screen itself). I had a realook crystal on my old mytouch 4g, and that one covered almost the entire face of the phone. I would just get another realook crystal clear, but the one for the s3 just only barely covers the screen and almost none of the rest of the face of the phone. It looks cheesy. Thinking about trying spigen crystal. The nano seems to dent/scratch too easily. I just want a protector that would work well with a tpu case and provide more coverage (not entire face of course) than just the lcd screen alone. Something with ~2mm gaps on the sides would probably accommodate a tpu case. No? It's just too difficult to tell how much space each protector leaves around the edges of the screen.
That also reminds me, do the sgp ultra crystal (latest revision) and sgp ultra nano both cover the same amount of surface on the s3? I understand that the nano is thinner. So perhaps it covers more of the face of the phone. Please reply if you know.
I was going to post a similar thread. I didn't have an issue with a Zagg shield + TPU case on my DINC2 but the one I bought off eBay (where I bought my other ones) has been causing bubbles. This bums me out because I feel that the phone is incredibly slippery without a case.

I have Realook 3D full coverage screen protector. It works with some cheap HK TPU cases, the but doesn't work with Diztronic TPU case.

That's what I needed to hear! I have the cheap hk tpu case and my friend has the diztronic tpu case. So it looks like if I buy the realook 3d forming for me and the spigen ultra crystal for him, then I'll have compatibility for both phones/cases. For anyone curious, here's what I've gleaned from posts on this forum so far.
Spigen Ultra Crystal, ultra nano, and Realook crystal clear will work with any tpu case because the protector just covers the screen, not the most outer edges.
Realook 3d forming will probably only work with tight tpu cases that barely cover the edges of the phone. Although this protector is supposed to have edge-to-edge coverage, others have stated that the protector stops 1-2mm short of the very edges of the phone. So it should work with some tpu cases.
Spigen curved crystal won't work with any tpu cases b/c the protector literally goes exactly to the edge of the phone with no space in between.'
That's what I know for the most popular choices in dry-apply protectors. I'm not interested in wet-apply protectors, but I do know that these will not get messed up by cases because they literally glue to the screen. Post here to let us know if you have any brands/styles of dry-apply protectors to add from experience.

Correct. I have tried few cases and few screen protectors.
Screen protectors including Spigen Nano clear, Realook 3D and Glasszone Tempered Glass.
Cases: few cheap HK 2 bucks cases, Seidio Surface, Diztronic TPU and Samsung Protective Cover+.
The best combination for me is Samsung Protective Cover+ and Realook 3D curved screen protector. This combination gives me a solid look and moderate protection. It is best combo for going with formal wear and showing some content for my clients from the phone. It is barely noticable that my phone has case and SP

Is the one you used the same as the one I have (picture in my first post at the top of the thread)? Anyone else use this case with full screen screen protectors successfully?
I have used this one:

Well, I should have taken everyone's advice here. I tried to get the realook 3d forming full screen protector to work with my cheapo ebay case, and of course, it pushes up the corners. So sad because I really like the screen protector's coverage. What kinds of cases work with the full screen protectors? (obviously not tpu ones as I've tried both diztronic and mercury without success). If there was just 1 mm less coverage on the full screen protectors, you could use a regular tpu case. My other galaxy s3 has the spy ultra crystal which is also nice, but just barely covers the lcd screen leaving 3-4 mm around the bezel to get scratched. I suppose a result screen protector is my only option if I want to use a tup case as well? please report!

Try my suggested tpu case above or get samsung protective cover+.
No problems so far. Using this for two months. No more frustration. Full coverage screen and full coverage bezel protection.
EDIT: I also suggest original samsung TPU cases as they fit perfectly with full screen protectors.

The pop has a less nice 'feel' to it for my tastes, so I would recommend the tough between the two.
I definitely didn't get a screen protector with my tough case but I bought an sgp flex and the edges of the screen protector are nicely covered by the case. Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk
I didn't get a screen protector with my toughcase. I have a Zagg though, but I'm a little annoyed that the silicone part of the toughcase has the tendency to push at the edge of the Zagg at the bottom corners. I guess this is because the Zagg doesn't fit completely from edge to edge. I got it centered as best I could and I consider myself decently skilled at applying these things. Oh and the toughcase silicone is a dust magnet.
Cases for Spigen Curved Glass Screen Protectors
I bought the Spigen Curved Glass screen protector, and I absolutely love the fit. I have zero bubbles anywhere on my screen and everything is laying flat. However, the case I have keeps making the sides of the screen protector come up. Here is the case I have now (which I freaking love): http://tpu-cases.com/index.php?main...id=275&zenid=1bb0920acd2cedd0634ccf906fa15569 Is there anyone else that has this screen protector and can recommend a case that doesn't make the sides of the protector come up?

Click to collapse Thanks for your response! The UAG is nice, but too bulky. The Element Eclipse looks amazing, but I'll pay $65 for a case the same day I win a lottery. As for Spigen, I don't see a Modello for the SGS3, but I don't like any of their cases. I'd get a flip cover case, but the ones I've seen have no protection for the top or bottom of the phone. I do very much appreciate your feedback, I'm just hoping for a case that I like and that works with this protector.

FYI, I decided to try the Seidio Surface case, thinking that if I could slide the case on it wouldn't be a problem. Fail. Totally pulls the sides of the protector up. Unless I can find a similar, minimalist case that will work with this screen protector, I'll have to just get a different protector.
A little old, but all the cases in on my crappy blog worked fine with the Curved Glass. Including all metal bumpers.

[Q] Clear case or full body screen protectors
I'm trying to choose between a clear case + screen protector or just a full body screen protector for my HTC One. I had the Zagg full body protector on my Motorola Atrix and it was ok considering they would send me a new one every time the old one peeled off, but there was always lint collecting under the edges causing it to come off after a few weeks. I came across this Spigen SGP clear case + screen protector on Amazon. I don't want a cheap looking loosely fitted case that doesn't snugly fit. Anyone have any experience with these on other phones or have any other suggestions? SPIGEN SGP HTC One 2013 Case Slim [Ultra Thin Air] [Soft Clear] MATTE Hard Case Protection Cover + Clear Steinheil Screen Protector Film
I also want protection but something that still shows off the phone itself. I have gone for a clear case - the poetic atmosphere. In figured that if the phone drops, it will dent with the body protector whereas the case will be a little bit better. I have not received my case yet, wouldn't mind if someone out there has had any experience with poetic vs spigen (forgotten the spelling, sorry) ? Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk 2

Any screen protector friendly cases for the Nexus 5 out?
My skinomi screen protector fits exactly on the Nexus 5 glass leaving zero margins or gaps to the edge. Currently using a Rearth ringke slim case with the Nexus. It fits perfectly and doesn't push on my screen protector, but I am looking for something with more drop protection. Noticed all of the TPU or thicker bumper style cases wrap around the edge of screen a bit and will likely bubble or lift my screen protector up. Anyone found a durable case that is screen protector friendly?

The Ringke Fusion is very similar to the Spigen Ultra Hybrid. http://i.imgur.com/2869wVa.jpg Shows a side cross section. Looks like it has minimal contact with the edge. I might give one of those a shot.
The official nexus bumper case from Google does not interfere with the screen protector at all. I have the Spigen Neo Hybrid, which bubbles the edge of the screen protector in some areas. Also have a Nilkin case from eBay that bubbles the lower right corner. The Google bumper is perfect. No interference at all.

I tried almost all whats available in the market, you name it, i tried it (expect for the zagg sphhire, still waiting for it).. Glass and film, tried them all, and i can highly recommend the iq shield wet film, so far the only one that you almost can't see it there, and definitely case friendly (subject to you applying it at the right position as a millimeter makes all the difference).. Try it and you will see.. Spigen wet film will be my second option, only its a bit more visible after applying it and more finger print magnite.. Alllllll, and i mean alllllll glass screen protectors are worthless, i tried at least 10 brands, cheap and expensive, and non works or sticks well, and definitely non is case friendly, the once that are, you can clearly see the adhesive through the glass after applying it, and that makes it soooo ugly..
I've got a Caseology (Spigen Tough Armor) and a MoKo 9h glass protector and they aren't compatible.
BearMotion with icarez glass. Pretty good combo.

Yep, spigen tough armor and some tempered glass protectors aint compatible. Pushes up. Same thing for any other film protector for the tough armor. Pushes up on almost all i have tried. havent found one that works so im getting over this spigen tough armor.
I also have the IQ Shield case friendly and it works great with my 2 Supcase and Spigen Hybrid.

Awesome guys, thank you. :good:
I just ordered the iq one that was suggested. I have an otterbox defender so I'll see how it works with that case. From what I've read the glass protectors do not play nice with most cases.
I have the Ghost Armor wet film on my S8+ and think it's one of the better ones out there. I got a glass screen protector free with my purchase, but it is pretty terrible so I decided to go with a film one. And the Ghost Armor is case friendly.
I've got the GPEL glass screen protector with a spigen ultra hybrid case. No issues
I have the wet install skinomi case friendly protector. It fits great and doesnt even look like its on there. Ive been using these since the note edge days. They sell a 2pack for around $8 ship
