The process is slow as we await the carriers to pack every last bit of bloatware in the latest release.

In all honesty that jelly bean update for s3 wasn't too bad

Samsung is just as bad as the carriers for letting them drag their feet. Its like when little kids misbehave its just as much the parents fault for allowing it.

Once Samsung releases the ROM to each carrier (to add their bloatware), its really no longer Samsung's responsibility.
I wouldn't mind it if the international ROMs could be easily ported to our devices.

Definitely a carrier based problem not Samsung, I am on AT&T right now and they took forever to update the Galaxy SIII to Jelly Bean which it really didn't matter to me because I am rooted with stock Android (Task650 AOKP)

No they don't. This just means that Samsung is releasing it to the S3, which they already did to the Note 2. The carriers still have to approve it and release it to the devices, so it's going to be a while until the AT&T S3 gets it.

They also had to wait 3 weeks longer to touch their phones. It's a trade-off, for sure. For all we know, that's why Verizon delayed releasing their phone, so they could update the firmware with multiview (and add their bloatware to it!).

I think you'll only really hear people who are anal about rooting their phones, who tend to always complain about stock UI. I've owned HTC phones with stock Sense and Samsung phones with stock TouchWiz, and I've yet to find anything so terrible about either, that I feel I simply must root my phone to replace it. What exactly is so bad about stock UI?? Maybe someone can point some things out to shed a light on what I may be missing due to my ignorance.

4.2.2 firmware confirmed for mid June

Just got the full confirmation from my Samsung mobile rep yesterday that sprint will be dropping the 4.2.2 firmware for the S3 in mid June. Anybody hear anything differently of can back up what he told me?
Edit: it's mid June and we've seen nothing yet lol *(clearly)*. Either my rep was mistaken on the ETA or the rumors are true about the delay for the S3 and the Note II. I apologize for the mixed information.

Interesting but history doesn't lie... usually international will get it then the US gets it months later. So I would not be surprised if you have been told false info.

I'm guessing that to get that OTA 4.2.2 update I would have to go back to stock everything from something like this: (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1904099)
I feel like quite a bit of people on XDA already are rooted and have a custom ROM that is already 4.2.2; is there a reason to unroot and go back to stock when 4.2.2 comes back?

Right now only AOSP based Roms are on 4.2.2 for our phone. Some people like Touchwiz Roms better. You don't have to unroot. When OTA drops you can just flash a rooted version of the OTA update or other OTA based TW Roms when they update.

Is your Samsung contact actually from Samsung or just a 3rd party marketing partner like MarketStar or Marketsource?

And like someone said, Sprint is getting better with updates, probably the best from the 4 major companies.

From Telstras website..
The Galaxy Gear requires Bluetooth 4.0.
Bluetooth 4.0 is a feature of Android 4.3.
In October the Galaxy note 2 will receive an update that allows compatibility with the Galaxy Gear.
Simple deduction proves that we will have Android 4.3 next month.

Thankfully our phone is nearly identical, so the rom can actually be used as a base.
Not like most galaxy phones where the International and North American versions are vastly different

The only reason the early names were generic & not sponsored (just like everything else, every venue & arena) is because Android was still considered an unpolished "geek's" device. Until recently, no other company wanted their name associated with it. If the very first iteration of Android hade been as stable as ICS or JB, we would likely have already seen other sponsored names. Maybe honeycomb would have been Hot Tamale.

FYI October date if for international Touchwiz phones, not US carriers. Will be months later before US carriers accept what Sammy gives them, adds their files and then decides when it is a good time to push it.
To add to that^, I have a Galaxy S4, that I'm selling, but every other major carrier in the US, Canada, and really much of the world, has received an update so you can move apps to the SD card months ago.
T-Mobile? Not a single word about it.
It will be months after international gets 4.3 for the other 3 major carriers in the US. And likely months after that that T-Mobile sends it out.

Im with you that's why I stick to stock roms but tweak them to what I want, tired of flashing different roms to find one that is close to what I want but has extra crap I don't want either broken or its just like having the boatware the carrier installs. Yes the Developers do a great job here at xda over the cell phone carriers. I haven't found one that fits what I want( mostly get rid of bloatware and a few tweaks I like) and one thing is I don't complain and do give thanks, cause I don't develop.
To all you developers who read this you do amazing work. I'm not putting you down, I'm a select few who likes to take your mods and add them to my stock rom that's all

Maybe it's just this will be the third time I have gone through this. First with the behold 2, was promised to us that we would get froyo, which never happened. Second with vibrant, which was promised gingerbread, which also never happened. After that I went through nexus s, nexus s4g then galaxy nexus. Gnex was a bad daddy phone that still can hang with the newest. I was on the fence whether to get nexus 4(which my wife has) or the note. I decided that the screen and pen were more important to me then having newest software. I knew 100% what I was getting into. In the past I have complained to tmobile, signed petitions, complained to samsux, with null results. You may call me a corporate sheep, while I call myself an educated consumer.

one scenario would be once samsung releases the final build -- cyanogenmod gets ahold of it and and puts together a tmobile port for it -- and they start charging for roms maybe. they are in business now to make money and their stable roms tend to be just that.. i'd pay a reasonable amount for a stable rom with all the bells and whistles. I said CM since they went public as a corp- other modders have great roms too

Doubt cm will port an OEM ROM, and especially now that they are technically a OEM. Their goal is to sell the cm experience. Now that they are a corporate they are now for profit. Now no one knows exactly how they are going to acneive that goal. Ads, teaming up with an OEM like Google does with lg and has done with Samsung and HTC. Maybe they will have their own app store. Maybe charge for the installer. Who knows

Some what good news, there is a 4.3 leak for att note 2. No root method yet. I definitely don't recommended flashing if Cuz it will have ARF modem. I plan to flash soon. I have unlocked att note. Pretty sure if a leak doesn't come out there will be flashable zips soon which will make its way to T-Mobile

Where did you hear of the leak? I haven't seen it yet
Why is the right door always locked?

I'm not messing with it but it's hard to tell from the model number. Is it for att variant?
