native hotspot won't turn on - T-Mobile, Samsung Galaxy SIII

I recently upgraded to Jellybean and rooted my phone via root66 method. Now when I turn on my native hotspot app, it switches itself off instantly. It doesn't give any error message or anything. Before the upgrade I was able to use the native hotspot app just fine. I am oversea right now so I am not using T-Mobile's network. Is there something in the Jellybean image that is causing this?

[Q] Missing WI-FI thethering after ICS T-Mobile Upgrade

So I upgraded to ICS 4.0 for T-Mobile few days ago. Now I lost the wifi Tethering icons. Tried to recover them from my backup using Titanium Backup, but they are not coming back up.
I went into settings, more, Tethering and mobile hotspot and turned it on...but now it auto redirects me to Tmobile sign up page for Tethering when I try to browse the web.
Any work around this besides re-flashing it with a custom ROM? I already rooted the phone.
Use Titanium Backup to freeze or uninstall the tethering provision .apk (I uninstalled it myself).
Works like a charm. If it still gives you issues, make sure the device that is tethered is not browsing using Chrome.
yeah what he said ^^^
i would suggest backing it up before you uninstall in case you have any problems though.
Happy tethering
When I froze it or uninstall it and go into settings, More, tethering and mobile hotspot, the word "error" appears under the mobile hotspot option. I can't even turn on the mobile hotspot feature without having the tethering provision being turned on. Any other ideas?
Don't use the function on the phone. Freeze tethering provision and then download an app that let's you tether.

Vicious Jelly Bean WIFI hotspot

Im having trouble getting my wifi to work on my verizon jb rom. I tried barnable and other wifi tether apps and they dont work. I then went in to setting to mobile hotspot on the phone and got it to work. however next time I went in to check mobile hotspot on it immediately disconnects and unchecks the mobile hotspot and doesnt work. Any ideas?

[Q] mobile hotspot on a different network

So I'm using a t999 here in Jamaica, and whenever I wanna using mobile hotspot app it turns on then turns off. I can never get it to stay on. I had foxfi on my previous rom (4.1.1), but I haven't put it back on the phone since the recent update. This time around, I tried out a hotspot widget (instead of installing foxfi) and this time the mobile hostspot app turned on and stayed on. When I was using foxfi, it also turned on the stock app.
Is there someway I could edit the apk so I can get it work without any addition app?
Can I use the tetheringprovision.apk from the intl s3? If so, where can I get it?

Enable free WiFi hot-spot (rooted)

All,
My Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phone is rooted and is running Android 4.1.2, build MA7 and I would like to enable WiFI tethering. I know that at some point in the past I was able to do this. Now, no matter what I try, I cannot get it to work. For example, I just downloaded and installed PdaNet (using the link for Sprint customers - aren't we lucky ).
When I ran the program, the following message was displayed:
Hotspot/Tethering Error
Unable to connect to data network; turning off Hotspot/Tethering. You may not be subscribed to the Hotspot service; please contact your phone company.
I have seen this same error message when trying several other similar programs.
What should I do to get WiFi hot-spot functionality working?

[Q] FoxFi w/ Lollipop update?

I just upgraded to Lollipop and I am not sure if I like it. Anyway, I found out that I couldn't start my FoxFi , probably blocked by Verzion or something. However, I think I found a work-around. When I started the hotspot process in FoxFi, I would pull down my notification bar and tap the Mobile Hotspot. The phone wouldn't do anything for a few second then it would say I that I don't have a mobile subscription 'yada yada' but then the hotspot would turn on and the SSID would have FoxFi99. The FoxFi app says the process failed, but the hotspot is active.
Think I might have found a useful glitch?
