[Q] Help! totally confused. - HTC Wildfire S

Ive just receive my htc wildfire s from the repair shop after hard bricking it by myself, they manage to bring my phone back to access bootloader but still stuck on htc green and white logo when you just turn it on,they used jtag method..my problem is I dont know what firmware should i use to flash my phone and bring it back to stock gingerbread firmware..
here is my bootloader info :
hboot - 0.90.000
radio - 7.46.35.08
I dont have any ***locked*** or ***unlocked*** phrase on the first line indicated - (and ive read some articles in other forum that it is necessary to update the bootloader to have ***locked oow*** appear on my bootloader and update my hboot to 1.08.0099 - 1.10.000 and then unlocked my bootloader via htc.dev officially).
one more thing , ive tried flashing extracted ruu from football's post because like what ive said my phone is stuck on htc white and green logo when turning it on after a jtag...but my log says that "main version is older" ,, i tried it using goldcard and plain micro sd card.. So the big question is WHAT firmware or rom should i flash in order to use my phone again?? do i need to update bootloader first??? or what..what method should i use??? thus my wildfire s is still brick or un recoverable???
hoping someone can educate and help me.... thanks
by the way asian user here.

Again if you were already rooted with S-off , and you say you did a factory reset , what exactly did you do to "factory reset"?????? In your first post you said you had perm root before, so this means you would have had S-off, meaning in order to get S-on you would have had to unroot your phone. How did you root your phone the first time??? What did you do to unroot your phone now???????? Doing a factory reset would not unroot your phone. So my guess is you never rooted the first time. So that means you must be doing something wrong in the rooting process, as far as I know your version is rootable, what methods have you tried and exactly what steps have you done in the processes.
I wonder if the 1.74 RUU worked at least enough to change the phone back to S-ON, and as has been discussed the 1.74 stuff can't be rooted using normal methods.
I might suggest this for help:

[Q] Stuck on boot "htc" logo

Hi
I searched the forum but I cannot find how to unbrick my Wildfire S...
The problem is like this:
Android 2.3.5, hboot 1.08, bootloader unlocked, rooted and link2sd installed. Recently from link2sd I converted the system file "com.htc" (i don't remember how it was called correctly, I just know that it was the biggest system file) into user file and after I restarted the phone, it got on bootloop (htc quietly brilliant logo) it just restarted itself..
I tried to fix but I couldn't so I sent it to service repair..
After a month they told me that they cannot repair it.
Now I see it that the hboot is 0.9 and when I turn it on, it hangs on white screen with green htc logo..
I tried to repair like this but no luck:
RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.2_Radio_47.23a.35.3035H_7.53.39.03M_release_225747_signed ERROR [140]:BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR
RUU_Marvel_S_HTC_Europe_2.13.401.3_Radio_47.23c.35.3037_7.54.39.28M_release_236989_signed ERROR [140]:BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR
Tried to update hboot with this: PG7610000_Marvel_hboot_1.08.0099_20111216 but I get this error: ERROR [190]: ROM IS NOT UPDATED Your ROM is not the latest version. Please upgrade to 2.13.401.2 to apply this RUU to be able to unlock your bootloader.
Somewhere I see the solution is goldcard but I cannot create a goldcard.
I also tried flashing from sdcard with PG76IMG.ZIP but I get this error: Main version is older! Update Fail!
Any suggestions please?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=25375379
I tried that, I tried everything..
But the problem is that my phone won't switch on so I cannot create a goldcard and I cannot use adb to flash misc partition...
I also tried flashing from sd card with PG76IMG.zip but no luck
This is what I get on hboot:
MARVEL PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-0.90.0000
MICROP-0451
RADIO-7.46.35.08
Apr 8 2011, 17:45:10
In the 1st post you said you have hboot 1.08 and unlocked.. How did you downgrade it to 0.90.0000? There's something wrong
Yes that's right it was 1.08 but when I got it from service repair I saw that they downgraded to 0.9 but they didn't managed to boot it up..
Did you try running an ruu?
Yes I tried but everytime I get this ERROR [140]:BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR

If you have an A510e/Marvel, this should get 2.13.401.3 flashed:
[GUIDE]How to update HTC Wildfire S/Marvel/A510e/GSM to Software Version 2.3.5
You've already tried procedure 1 and 2 so try 3.
In first post I mentioned that I tried 2.13.401.3 but no luck, now I also tried the virgin rom but it says CID incorrect, man I tried every rom but with every rom no luck
tried changing the cid to 11111?
As far as I know I cannot change the cid if I'm S-ON, anyway I tried and I get error..
I think that I found where is the problem but I don't know how to resolve it...
When I run RUU it tells me that the current version of image on phone is 11.33.401.2 and because of that I think that I cannot update it because RUU thinks that the image on phone is newer than the one that I want to flash and because of that it gives me error.
So the question is: Does somebody know how I can change the version on RUU to be for example 12.13.401.3 so it can be updated....????
Here's the pic that I get..
http://dl.dropbox.com/u/40681700/RUU.PNG
I managed to change the version on android-info.txt but now I get ERROR 132 SIGNATURE ERROR
Search the dev section for bootloader set superversion. This allows you to set your s/w number to 0.0.0.0 so you can install any RUU
Yes I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1530864 but the first option is via changing the misc partition but I need adb and I'm stuck on fastboot and cannot use adb.. and the other option is the bootloadertool but I don't know how to flash that tool I tried with fastboot update but no luck nor with fastboot flash...
have it s-offed by an xtc clip and you will have, access to read write execute on the device, I mean flash anything hboots ruu roms etc. also flash a clockworkmod.
com.htc file your saying is just a file, so your phone is not actually brick, also if you have 0.90 hboot, you search the chinese guide to s-off the device w/o xtc clip. like flashing rom1.zip except rom2.zip something like that, go to bbs.anzhi.com/bbs.xda.cn/bbs.gfan.com use google translate.
gud luck
That's the problem, in my country I cannot find xtc clip and I'm still searching for it..
xtc clip is the 100% solution but I cannot find one
Ok I'll search it for ya, wait a min. btw read my previous post.
---------- Post added at 10:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:56 AM ----------
read this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457992&highlight=possible+s-off I'll look for the other thread.
I think that I found xtc clip in a neighborhood city....
Going to make it s-off...

[TUT] Downgrade your Desire/Bravo HBOOT from 1.02.0001 to 0.93.0001

Hi,
This is how you downgrade a Desire/Bravo with the HBOOT 1.02.0001 already installed, - this method is appropriate for people who need to downgrade the HBOOT for unlock purposes. I struggled for ages on this and once I found the method thought i'd post it around the internet as I couldn't find this info anywhere.
-Summary of steps-
1)Turn S-Off + Update HBOOT
2)Downgrade HBOOT to 0.93.0001 (Turns S-ON)
I have personally tested this and it worked perfectly without any problems. However flashing anything to your phone is done at your own risk, & I accept no responsability for your device.
--Step 1--
Download and run the Revolutionary tool here http://revolutionary.io/ to turn S-Off - Follow the steps on their website for how to do this if you get stuck.
Once you have run the Revolutionary tool, when it asks if you want to install the Clockworkmod recovery press no.
You will now have an S-Off phone running HBOOT 6.93.1002
--Step 2--
Format a microSD card, download the following zip file and save it to your memory card.
http://www.mediafire.com/download/dyyn35zm07x2x7a/PB99IMG.zip LINK UPDATED 2 JAN 2013
You should now have a single file on your memory card named PB99IMG.zip
--Step 3--
Put the microSD card back in your phone and hold 'VOL+DOWN + ACTION' and press the power button to get to the HBOOT menu. Wait around 10 seconds (give or take) and the phone will detect the update and ask you to install it, Select yes to install then reboot your phone back into the HBOOT menu.
You will now have an S-On phone with the 0.93.0001 HBOOT
--Step4-- IF THIS STEP APPLIES TO YOU FOR UNLOCKING
Unlock with XTC-Clip as you normally would - Creating goldcard with 0.93.X001 HBOOT.
Your phone will now be unlocked.[/QUOTE]
NOTE: You can do the official updates through the phone as normal without loosing your unlock
Hope you find this info useful
what ruu (PB99IMG) is it?
what if someone has an orange branded phone, coz there is no ruu for it and they would need a goldcard.
what about people from different regions coz theres different ruu's for different regions aswell and they would need a gold card.
edit: its a hboot.img, thought it was an ruu.
did u try this yet? does it work?
normaly when u change hboots u have to format partitions. if u go to the trouble of getting s-off then why not just run the correct ruu for ur device, just to be safe.

Hi,
It souldn't matter what network the phone is on - The HBoot was taken from a WWE RUU & I tested it with a UK Vodaphone branded desire which worked. I used this method to unlock a 1.02.0001 phone which isnt supported by xtc hence the downgrade needed. You shouldn't need a goldcard for the downgrade part as running the revolutionary tool will switch s-off, after applying the downgraded hboot it will turn s-on but as you will be on the old 0.93.0001 hboot you can just create the goldcard with xtc and complete the unlock if this step applies to you - it probably does as I dont know another reason for downgrading to this HBOOT.
Running the downgrade will wipe the phone - it did atleast with mine.
The reason I couldnt run an RUU to downgrade the hboot after turning s-off is because revolutionarys tool adds some protection to prevent hboot flashing via RUU & fastboot. The only way I could find to do it was to flash it directly from the SD card.
As for the other regions you may be right and need a local hboot - I'm not able to test this as I only ever get UK phones to unlock. If it is the case the HBOOT which you want to downgrade to can always be extracted from a local RUU and added to your own update.zip (named correctly of course) - The network branded phones on the other hand should make no difference - as s is off, so a UK orange, vodafone etc will take the hboot from WWE RUU aslong as s is off. (This is why its neccessary to run revolutionary first)
Hope this info helps.
cool. just so u know to unlock the hboot 6.93.1002 u have to flash the Alpharev downgrader img, that way it can be overwritten by an ruu

Hi,
Thanks for mensioning that, I did actually run the Alpharev downgrader as part of the process but completely forgot to add that step ( I wrote the tutorial after doing it not during ) With me though after running the alpharev downgrade the hboot still wouldnt downgrade from the ruu - also tried manually flashing with fastboot but got various errors (something to do with usb something or other - maby it was just my usb's playing up again as they occasionaly do) so for me I still had to do the sd card way but if you find it works for you with the ruu then even better.
For anyone getting stuck, do this step after running revolutionary - Just download the Bravo Downgrader from here http://alpharev.nl/ and run it before continuing with the rest of the steps.
i always use PB99IMG awsell, my laptop dont like my phone haha

yeh its always the usb's that let me down - 7 workstations n all of them are failing on the usb's overuse i think
desire with broken volume keys
hi friends, I found a HTC Desire bravo at the flee market and bought it thinking it is actually a nexus-one... a nice phone with lots of nice futures in it after a charging session the phone boot up and it was alive back again. with one problem the volume keys was not working.. ı dismantled it and cleaned up as it is described in xda forums and didn't worked so i made a little check and found the thin foil attaching the volume keys to the main board was broken since there is no way to fix it without changing the main board and i had no intention to pay lots of money on it i left it like that with one problem; no way to boot in to recovery from start... after couple of days i found i didn't liked the rom on it i decided to change it, there was no problem since i could boot it to recovery using the restart menu which the ROM had since it was rooted but i made a mistake and fell in to a boot lope the only way to boot it back was the adb commands but phone couldn't start up so no debugging mode only fast boot so i tried many fast boot commands to boot in to recovery with no success after searching forums i found lots of desire bravos around with the same problem.. so i used ruu to reboot it properly the only ruu worked for me was the official 2.3.3 update ruu ''RUU_HTC Desire Android 2.3 Upgrade (Gingerbread).exe'' the phone booted and working now but no s off and no root and there was no way to root it without the volume up and down keys i was stuck with the useless unrooted rom so here how i rooted the phone without the volume keys first you have to download ''DooMLoRD_v3_ROOT-zergRush-busybox-su.zip'' and run it in USB debugging mode after that you have a working recovery partition to install a recovery bin using fastboot or what ever( the problem was after the update i lost the phones recovery partition and couldn't get the state s-off even i am s-off there was no recovery partition... since i am not good at commands to re format the boot loader this could be a life saver so i decided to share my experience... afterwards you can boot into recovery since you have a recovery partition you can push any recovery to your phone i think zergrush tool is not intended to use with bravo that why no body mentioned it in the bravo forums ops i forgot the say i used alphadevs methods and software to gain s-off on my phone before using zergrush i hope this will hwlp people like me stucked with non fonctioning volume keys

HTC one V Hboot 1.18 installing stock RUU-S ON

Hi guys...
i desperately in need of help. i am in stock rom and i wanted to root my HTC and i did unlocked using HTC dev method. and installed CWM recovery. it worked fine for about 6 months (plz note i never flashed any custom rom, just unlocked with the stock rom)
but now suddenly my sim card is not detected. when i go to settings the flight mode says 'turning off' and it never turns off...and hence my sim not working. so i decided to reinstall stock RUU but it says wrong RUU and failed.
Info:
****Unlocked****
PrimoU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
Hboot 1.18.0000
Radio-3831.19.00.120
eMMC-boot
CID : HTC_038
i tried flashing stock recovery and relock the mobile and then RUU but it fails.now when i searched in internet i came to know that i need to down grade hboot 1.18 since no RUU is available for this version and for doing so i need to do S-OFF. i tried rum runner but it ended up in failed to update error. so plz help me. :crying:
I want to know why the radio is not working and also how to revert back to stock RUU.?
P.S :i have a doubt on how it happened-last week i updated SuperSU and on recovery menu in Hboot it showed me warning that " Rom will flash stock recovery, proceed to fix.? " i gave no...i am not sure but i thing it may be the reason because i havent done anything new since i rooted my mobile.
take a backup with CWM recovery
bro before doing anything to stock rom pls backup through CWM recovery
1st of all, to find a compatible RUU for your phone the hboot is irelevant, you need to figure out what's your CID. There is a CID application on play store that will tell you what you need: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tritonsoft.cidgetter&hl=ro
2nd from what i understood in your post you are still able to use the ROM somewhat, try to activate ADB in developer settings and reboot the phone through adb command. you will need to install android SDK and update your envoirnment variables in windows. you can lookup a tutorial on google about how to do that or if you can't find it you can PM me and i can give you some instructions.
it's very important to find a way to reboot your phone in bootloader because in order to reflash a RUU you need to relock your bootloader and to flash back the stock recovery.
it does not sound to me like your phone will be hard to fix (i had a lot worse and still managed to fix it ^^)
good luck with these steps, see if you can get any results and update here, we'll figure something out
cheers

[Q] How to identify Version Main number of my M8?

Hey all,
I'm from India & i'm totally unaware of how to root or unlock android phones(HTC ONE M8) but recently my collegeue got my phone unlocked and rooted, I did not receive OTA for lollipop till date, I want to relock and unroot my device to get proper OTA updates, please help!
My phone was unlocked using Hasoon's toolkit and tried to unroot my device with the same toolkit but i couldnt find my version main number, i'm strucked since i'm a beginner, kindly help me get back my device back to stock form, by the way how to find whether my device has custom recovery or stock recovery??
Current status when i open bootloader :
*** Software status: modified ***
***Relocked***
M8_UL PVT SHIP S-ON
Please someone help me on this, please adjust that i dont know anything on this.
Thanks in advance
First off, if you don't understand how to root the phone, you shouldn't have a rooted phone. I firmly believe this. Rooting the phone isn't that hard, and if you aren't willing to put in the time and effort to learn about how to root it, its probably dangerous for you to have the phone rooted.
You are unfortunately now in the spot where you will have to learn a lot just to get the phone back to a stock condition.
Do you know what version of the phone you have (carrier or region?)? What hboot number?
If you select recovery in bootloader, and a red triangle (or green circle if an update is loading, but likely red triangle) with exclamation point is shown, that is stock recovery. Anything else is custom recovery.
Hey Thanks for the reply,
I'm from India & i use Indian version of M8.
i couldnt find my version main number :/
My HBOOT is 3.19.0.0000
Radio 1.22.2133114741.29G
OpenDsp
Phone Relocked & S-ON now!
When i clicked recovery on bootloader it showed "Security Warning" so i did not proceeed further.
What to do next, please help
