I installed fff 1.4a, but could not enter the recovery or fastboot mode
every time i select recovery in fff, it just loops
it does not work even using those utility tools to set the boot mode to 4002 or 5001, because every time i use adb shell set idme to 4002, my fire just run into fff and waiting for me to select the boot mode, and it either loops if i select recovery or just boot into the OS (CM7 for me) if i select normal mode
any body has meet the issue before?
i think i should remove fff first, any one knows how to do it under adb??
thanks !!

What recovery do you have installed and have you tried reinstalling it?
My kindle fire runs on Rooted Kindle Fire stock ROM downloaded from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1569298.
Yesterday I tried to install twrp using KFU0.9.6 and it says the MD5 check sum failed deleting the files.
Then it worked fine. After that i turn it off my Kindle fire. And I turn it on after some time. From that moment it got stuck in Kindle Fire boot screen.
Then I tried to connect my device to PC and launched KFU0.9.6 and it is saying my Device is offline
Could someone help me to resolve this issue???
Hard boot then boot into recovery.....then flash your stock ROM backup. You made a backup, right?

Still not booting up

Im having the same problem... How can i boot into recovery mode if the Kindle Fire utility isnt detecting the device unless its literally on?
try this
Hi
I had the same problem... Try this:
Download the 'Kindle Fire Utility' unzip it and run install_drivers.bat
Plugin the kindle and make sure nothing is unrecognized in the Device Manager
Open a command prompt and enter the following two lines
fastboot -i 0x1949 oem idme bootmode 4000
fastboot -i 0x1949 reboot
(If fastboot cannot be found switch to the "kindle fire Utility" folder into the Tools directory)
Afterwards you can run the utility and install the latest "TWRP Recovery" and "FireFireFire". I've been stuck there in the installation: Don't plug-out your kindle, just reboot it a few times (keep the power-button pressed for at least 10sec)
Hope this helpes
I use "Custom CWM-Based Touch Recovery 5.0.2.7 for Kindle Fire" to install CM10.1
And now my KF stuck at boot animation. When i connect it with computer, the computer had the 'mtp usb device' error (can't install).
KFU still show 'Online' status but I can't use the boot mode (included normal, fast, recover).
"Waiting for device" is the only thing that I had.
Any one can help me solve this problem?

FFF 1.3 with the Android, right? Enter the following command, and reboot your device:
Code:
fastboot oem idme bootmode 5001
That should get you into recovery so you can reflash your ROM. Remember to factory reset.

What I should do now? :crying:
Ichigo said:
Do this:
1)Hold power down until device shuts off
2)In cmd, open up fastboot like you just did
3) Type:
Code:
fastboot getvar store
4)Turn on device(with usb cable in)
5)Now type
Code:
fastboot oem idme bootmode 5001
6)It should reboot into recovery, where you can reflash the ROM.

Guys,
Need some help now..
I have done a preliminary search but I haven't got an answer, hence the New thread.. Sorry about it if it's well explained elsewhere.
I have been using the fire since beginning of 2012 and rooted it and I was running a custom rom (I think Gederom) from one of the devs until yesterday.
It is on twrp 2.1.1
The rom seemed a bit laggy and I decided to try out another last night. So i downloaded the hellkat linaro 4.4.2 2013-12-30 version and the gapps to flash.
I went into recovery and wiped Cache , Dalvik , factory reset and flashed the rom.
Now, the flashing ended with an unsuccessful message and I am stuck on bootloop since there is no active rom on my fire.
Should I update twrp? If so, how?
Or what else am I supposed to do now, to get it up and running?
You need to flash TWRP 2.6.3.1 in order to flash a 4.4.2 ROM. Flashing on any other version of TWRP will cause an unsuccessful error. I believe Hashcode posted an updated TWRP that while it still states 2.6.3.0, it is actually updated to 2.6.3.1. You need to find it, download it, go back into recovery, go to mount, and mount only USB storage with your kindle connected to your computer. This will allow you to copy files to your kindle from recovery. Copy the recovery to your kindle and flash it like you would flash anything else. Power off your kindle and power it back on, and boot into recovery again. This time, flash the ROM like you normally would, and you should be all set.
EDIT: Did ya one better I still had the zip on my Kindle, so I uploaded it for you. It will still say 2.6.3.0 but it is really 2.6.3.1. Enjoy

If you can get your computer to recognize the kindle when it is in the bootloader through adb then you can boot into recovery by downloading the latest twrp recovery IMG file. Get the TWRP IMG file downloaded and then run the adb commands to get into fastboot mode.
Rooted stock:
Code:
adb shell su -c 'idme bootmode 4002'
ROM with root access:
Code:
adb shell idme bootmode 4002
Once you are in fastboot mode you can enter recovery without actually having it flashed to your device by issuing the following fastboot command
Code:
fastboot boot recovery path/to/recovery.img
Replace the path/to/recovery with the actual path and name of the recovery image for example if its on your C drive it would be something like "C:/TWRP.2.3.6.1_otter.img"
That will give you full access to the newest TWRP without actually having it flashed on your device and once you save you kindle you can actually permanently flash the recovery.
To get out of fastboot issue the following command.
Code:
fastboot oem idme bootmode 4000
fastboot reboot

I flashed that zip and it still says v2.0.0.0 in recovery
Hi, I was running CM11 on a rooted Kindle Fire HD 8.9 happily but decided to take the CM12 nightly and it's not gone well.
It installed but wasn't running correctly, here's where I made my mistake. Instead of waiting until I had a PC to hand, I did a factory reset on the kindle itself (i'm an idiot!).
Now, the kindle will start up into fastboot mode and take some commands but that's it. No recovery, no adb.
I have the android SDK installed along with google usb drivers and the amazon kindle usb drivers. The device appears on the PC (no yellow triangle, I'm running windows 8.1 and the driver is signed).
With fastboot, I can flash a boot and recovery image but I can't then restart the device in recovery mode or standard boot.
a fastboot reboot stays in fastboot mode. any volume and power button combinations won't take it into recovery.
i tried fastboot oem unlock but that doesn't get a response from the device.
I have the kindle SR tool utility (v 1.3.5). It can flash the images to the device but any attempt to reboot will always take it back into fastboot.
I've read countless articles but I'm now stuck. Have I killed my fire?
Thanks, Mike
"fastboot -i 0x1949 oem recovery" should reboot your kfhd into recovery. From there you can wipe system, recovery and data and re-install recovery, cm11 and gapps assuming the zip files are still on your device. Or you can erase and re-flash everything using fastboot commands. If all else fails you can first return it to stock KFHD OS using the system recovery tool. All you need is to get it into fastboot mode which it sounds like you can.

In my situation (Kindle fire HD 8.9 amazon OS 8.1.5) after install TWRP 2.6.0.0, the device is not loaded (always orange logo kindlefire at all) me helped Wipe> format data, after I then sent image cm-11 for devices, `adb push cm-11.zip /sdcard/`, and wipe cache and install cm-11 are successful.
Installing TWRP only for fastboot mode, in the fastboot mode `adb` command dont work, only `fastboot...........` command.
I hope something helped.
