[Q] help! weird kindle fire reboot issue - Kindle Fire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I installed fff 1.4a, but could not enter the recovery or fastboot mode
every time i select recovery in fff, it just loops
it does not work even using those utility tools to set the boot mode to 4002 or 5001, because every time i use adb shell set idme to 4002, my fire just run into fff and waiting for me to select the boot mode, and it either loops if i select recovery or just boot into the OS (CM7 for me) if i select normal mode
any body has meet the issue before?
i think i should remove fff first, any one knows how to do it under adb??
thanks !!

Rooted Kindle boots to Recovery by default

I don't know why, but my Kindle fire always boots to TWRP instead of booting to the ROM first. I can boot to the ROM by just doing the boot options when the device turns on. It's a little annoying though. Is there anyway I can get my Kindle to boot to the ROM by default instead of TWRP. Thanks
Go to the boot options (FFF) and choose "reset boot mode".
if that doesn`t work use this to install the newest twrp http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1500935 when exiting recovery select reboot then system this will correct your bootmode...

[Q] Need help rooting, im out of luck!

Hello Im new and looking for help =)
Ok to start off I searched all over and cant seem to find a solution to my root problem, Ok I have followed every guide on how to root the fire with KFU, I get it were all my info is correct with it being online and showing 4000 with the KFU, I click #2 for root it goes into the process of rooting, now my pc makes pop up noises and keep trying to reinstall driver (little window in corner) I know its doing its work, now about 5 mins into it KFU stalls and wont go anymore into the process, after it stalls TWRP loads and pops up and nothing else, it doesnt load back to the org. kindle screen just TWRP, I dont wanna install any rom yet just root it and get the market and still use the org. kindle layout. so basically I have to use the 6.3.1update load it on TWRP and install it to wipe TWRP to get my fire back to the norm, ive done this more than once and on a different pc,different, usb ports, ect same results! any info would be great!
Install FFF. It would make it easier to switch between the bootmodes. At the (blue) Kindle Fire screen, hold the power button until the boot options appear at the bottom...select "reset boot mode".
Assuming you have the right version of TWRP, you can select Reboot > Reboot System, and it will reset your bootmode to 4000.
Another thing you can do is use the adb shell to change the bootmode...
Code:
adb shell
idme bootmode 4000
reboot

should I do FFF first not select #2?
I don't know what option #2 is so I'll say...it depends on the KFU. If your drivers are working properly then it should work with no problem to change the bootmode or install FFF, BUT using it to install FFF is dangerous. If anything goes wrong during the flash (power outage, power surge, accidental cable dissconnect, and a host of other things), your Kindle will be seriously bricked. Download FFF1.4 and flash it in recovery. And don't try to go without installing it, even if you are able to use other methods to change your bootmode. It will save your butt in a pinch.
I have always selected the option for twrp first a broken recovery is not near as bad as a broken bootloader by far

[Q] Stuck on Yellow Triangle Without Recovery Option (Was: Is it bricked?) [Fixed]

I rooted and installed an ICS ROM several months back on my Fire. One morning the wife brings it in and says my son got it stuck in some weird mode. Turns out it is stuck on the TWRP yellow triangle and does not seem to be able to get into recovery mode. I have done that several times before so I am pretty confident I am not messing that up. Just the power button never turns orange and eventually the device just turns off. My computer see the USB device but ADB does not. I did `android update adb` and then added '0x1949' to '~/.android/adb_usb.ini'. Do I have any options left or is it bricked?
Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read this. Especially to any who can reply with suggestions.

Download TWRP and FFF1.4
TWRP

FFF1.4

ADB will not work because you're in fastboot mode. Use fastboot commands to install the new TWRP and change the bootmode.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery /path/to/recovery.img
fastboot oem idme bootmode 5001
Hold the power button to perform a hard shutdown and restart the device. You should then be able to launch recovery using the power button. If not, you'll have to flash the bootloader as well. If this is the case, be extremely careful you don't pull the USB cable during the flash or you will really brick your device.
Also, it is very important to know that the version of FFF you'll download comes in a .zip format to be flashed in recovery. Don not flash the .zip file directly to your bootloader partition. Instead, unzip it and find the "fff-u-boot_v1.4.bin" located in the cache folder and flash it.
Code:
fastboot flash bootloader /path/to/fff-u-boot_v1.4.bin
fastboot reboot
If you were able to access recovery just by reinstalling it with the first command, push the FFF1.4.zip file to your sdcard and flash it in recovery. Just remember not to wipe anything before installation. That will help you to fix your bootmode problems a lot easier in the future by holding the power button untill the boot options appear at the bottom.

[Q] TWRP flash failed but firefirefire installed, now I can't get to fastboot mode

I've been trying to root my Kindle Fire running 6.3.3. I bought a fastboot cable and got it to boot into fastboot mode to flash TWRP and firefirefire. I ran the commands and TWRP failed but firefirefire installed. Now when the kindle boots I get the firefirefire bootloader but it cant boot into the recovery because the TWRP never installed. Also, I can't get it to fastboot anymore, not even with the cable. Can anyone please help me get TWRP installed? I've read many forums and tried about everything I found.

FFF bootloader supports fastboot commands, but the flash command is now
fastboot flash recovery file name
ie drop the -i 0x1949
Code:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.1-otter.img
because the fastboot mode window is short
with kindle connected to pc, power off kindle, enter commands, then power on kindle

I've been trying this for about 30 minutes or so with no luck...I even downloaded a different version of the twrp image. Do I have to wait for the fastboot screen to start the command or do I start the process before powering on the device? I'm not really sure what I'm doing wrong here.

Should be able to do it either way but I press enter, before the power button
This will not work if drivers are not correct
could try
Code:
fastboot devices
as a test should get something like
Code:
123456789 bootloader
back in command prompt
I finally got it to work and I can't thank you enough. You were right. I knew my computer recognized the device with adb in normal boot but my computer wouldn't recognize the device in fastboot mode until i reinstalled the android driver while it was in fastboot mode. Now I have a custom ROM running Google Play apps! Again, thank you!
Hey, I don't know if this will help others, but I had a hell of a time trying to get my kindle to recognize while in the bootloader/fastboot mode... It frustrated me so much that I had to write about it.
I recently switched to Windows 10, so it seems like my computer is relearning drivers and stuff...
My kindle was fine when on, and I could issue adb commands from the main screen, but when in fastboot mode, I couldn't get it detected. I knew the drivers were an issue, but I couldn't figure out how to do it. I looked at Amazon's support pages, went through the SDK route, tinkered with the adb.ini and so forth... to no avail.
Post after post said that the easiest way to install the drivers was through the Kindle Fire Utility, but for some reason, the drivers in the .bat file kept failing and would not load. It took a good few hours to figure out the solution.
When I asked the Web why the drivers kept failing, I came across a post that said Windows was actually blocking unknown drivers from loading onto my system. I really wish Windows had told me that instead of just saying "Fail"...
I had to hold down the shift button and click restart on the start menu, and when the computer restarted, I when through: troubleshoot -> advanced options -> startup settings and clicked on Restart. It eventually gave me the option to disable that signature verification [F7]
My explanation is crude, because I want you to look it up properly. Just search for "disable driver signature enforcement" and you should be fine.
Hope this helps others out. I may have to revisit my own post just to see how to do this again.

[Q] My fire won't exit fastboot

Hi, I was running CM11 on a rooted Kindle Fire HD 8.9 happily but decided to take the CM12 nightly and it's not gone well.
It installed but wasn't running correctly, here's where I made my mistake. Instead of waiting until I had a PC to hand, I did a factory reset on the kindle itself (i'm an idiot!).
Now, the kindle will start up into fastboot mode and take some commands but that's it. No recovery, no adb.
I have the android SDK installed along with google usb drivers and the amazon kindle usb drivers. The device appears on the PC (no yellow triangle, I'm running windows 8.1 and the driver is signed).
With fastboot, I can flash a boot and recovery image but I can't then restart the device in recovery mode or standard boot.
a fastboot reboot stays in fastboot mode. any volume and power button combinations won't take it into recovery.
i tried fastboot oem unlock but that doesn't get a response from the device.
I have the kindle SR tool utility (v 1.3.5). It can flash the images to the device but any attempt to reboot will always take it back into fastboot.
I've read countless articles but I'm now stuck. Have I killed my fire?
Thanks, Mike
"fastboot -i 0x1949 oem recovery" should reboot your kfhd into recovery. From there you can wipe system, recovery and data and re-install recovery, cm11 and gapps assuming the zip files are still on your device. Or you can erase and re-flash everything using fastboot commands. If all else fails you can first return it to stock KFHD OS using the system recovery tool. All you need is to get it into fastboot mode which it sounds like you can.

In my situation (Kindle fire HD 8.9 amazon OS 8.1.5) after install TWRP 2.6.0.0, the device is not loaded (always orange logo kindlefire at all) me helped Wipe> format data, after I then sent image cm-11 for devices, `adb push cm-11.zip /sdcard/`, and wipe cache and install cm-11 are successful.
Installing TWRP only for fastboot mode, in the fastboot mode `adb` command dont work, only `fastboot...........` command.
I hope something helped.
