I am looking for a good gamepad, I have been trying to find a highly compatible one but most of the ones I find work with next to nothing, anyone got a suggestion?
Try the Powera Moga Game Pad. It even holds your phone for you. Just download the Moga Universal Driver from the market and you can use it for any game that supports a game pad.

I heard very positive feedback about the IPEGA Bluetooth Controller. Very cheap and native compatibility for most games.
http://www.tinydeal.com/ipega-bluetooth-30-controller-for-androidiostablet-pc-p-76366.html
It's on ebay, dealextreme, focalprice, aliexpress, etc...
A seller on dealextreme mentioned the SIII would fit perfectly, but the Note II is too big.

I've had a lot of luck with the phonejoy.
I've been using a PS3 controller with the Gameklip and the Six Axis app. It works amazingly. Completely compatible with Vice City.

I have this controller. I bought it for $25 on EBAY. It's available for around that price on dealextreme.com - it's a well known site to buy from, the only bad thing is glacially slow shipping.
There's a more detailed thread on the Ipega controller, that you can get to just by searching the XDA forums. I don't want to repeat all of the detailed feedback that there was.
I also have the phonejoy analog for around $50 - and the Ipega is superior in my opinion. The only drawback is that it no longer works for Vice City for some reason. One user claimed that it did once work. I've used it for all sorts of emulators, Shadowgun and Dead Trigger. It works great, and is easily pocketable. My only gripes are comfort, and I wish it had 2 more shoulder buttons. Even though it won't work for Vice City, I think it's a steal for the $25 price. The people complaining, or talking about lag - don't have a GS3 and need to install other drivers to work through.

So I can't post pics yet, but I am working on combining a Power A mini wiimote into a classic controller pro. It is the same thing MOG has been working on, and he has done some great stuff.
So Key points so far.
The mini wiimote does work with the Droid X at least, and it does connect to the classic controller pro.
I can't cut the wiimote pcb, because there are just too many connections all over the board, unlike the typical wiimote where the top half can be cut.
Next step is to solder the wires correctly for the wiimote and the classic controller.
Stay posted if interested. If it goes well, I plan to add a dock like MOG did, but also USB power and what not, depending how much I like it. Kind of just combining multiple things I've seen on the net.
So the soldering went well, but for some reason the player indicator lights keep flashing.
It actually didn't take long, now i just need something to glue it together. I'll post pics once I get to 8 posts.

I did something similar to this, but did not cut the controller I used an adapter and glued it. And modded a case to attach the phone to the controller.
Looks awesome
I've made 2 and will make my 3rd soon. Here's the idea for my 3rd.
-must use classic controller (not pro version) this gives u a flat back surface
-wiimote will be horizontal on the back of the CC (put the trigger on the back left side) gives u a nice trigger for shooter games!
Still need to see exactly how ill mount the phone but I really want a trigger like the n64 controller.
Just found this thread while searching for advise. I want to do something like this, but I want to mount the Power A board INSIDE the CC or CC Pro shell. Has anyone tried this, will it fit? I'd like a switch on it that tells the buttons to work as CC buttons or Wiimote buttons, and add a rechargable battery and charging port. Basically I want to make a copy of the Wii U branded Interworks Pro Controller that does exactly this. I would buy one, but I hear they don't work all that well. (bad dpad, shuts off, etc).
I hear the datel retro controller works. It looks just like the classic but its wireless.

since the note is 83mm wide, im guessing no, it does not fit it.
it was not hard at all to find their official site and specs.. http://gametel.se/index.php/explore/specification
I have one, and I even did a review of it over on swartz.de You certainly can't fit the Note in it, although I'm pretty certain you could hack the holding bracket to get it to fit, via 3-d printing a longer part. The other problem would be Samsungs button placement. If inserted, you'll be constantly activating the volume button rocker unless you angle it exactly right. Of course, if you're already designing a new holding bracket for 3D printing, you could probably get around that problem as well. That said, it's still a very nice bluetooth game controller.

Yes, it does.
Yeah, i've got it now.
I've been using the GameKlip along with my ps3 controller for the past two weeks and recommend it to anyone with a galaxy device.
www.thegameklip.com
Hi,
I love to play on the go but as much as i like the creative touch games we can play on our high end device i prefer playing with buttons.
The possibility to emulate Gameboy and N64 is awesome as soon as you get a Bluetooth gamepad.
I started looking for a gamepad with the possibility to mount my s3.
This stuff is expensive!
Ordering an iControlpad to germany would cost me a hundret dollar.
I found some alternatives but none with good quality and affordable price.
I have a lot of Nintendo Wii stuff lying around but remembered the app which connects wiimotes to android phones via bluetooth had issues on most newer HTC and Samsung Phones.
Turned out it works like a charm on ourS3!!!
So I hacked something together from a wiimote and and one of those steering wheels
You can buy both for less than 25$ (non original wiimotes are totaly sufficient as you need the buttons only.
I first disassembled the wheel giving me 2 halfs. On The one half i cut out some space for the s3 adding some duct tape for protection (this thing could even be pretty if you use white tape)
If you are left handed you are done now
Otherwise you will notice that the wiimote fits in the wrong way - more plastic to remove.
Here are some pictures:

I added some tape behind the phone to lift it up a bit.
Playing is pretty safe - the phone cant really fall of. With a bit of precice cutting one could make it fit really tight.
Happy crafting guys
Nice work

Great job! I'm hoping to get someone with better skills then me to get a holder for a PS3 controller. I'm surprised there isn't even a big aftermarket for holders for 360/PS3/Wii controllers with smart phones. Unless I'm searching the wrong areas.
I am looking for a pad too, I remember a little one handed joystick type pad being released a while back but can no longer find it.
Also there was an msi Bluetooth pad I was thinking about purchasing when I owned a hd2 but I can no longer find that for sale.
Surely there must be some little gaming pads that are portable. It's the only thing I will miss about my xperia play.
Im sure there would be a great market for a good quality pad for android, one styled like the old square nintendo pad would be awesome.
Does anyone know of pads available? For shipping in the UK preferably.
Sorry for going off topic.

This device comes packed with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor paired with a Mali 400mp quad-core GPU for high-class graphics in 7"
http://www.jbmm.fr/2012/08/la-fuite-de-larchos-gamepad/
7 inches is a bit strange for such a device, but why not ? I'm an Xperia Player and I'd love to try that device.
Yes 7" seem a bit big for a handheld console. But I'm interested though. I just have to test these physical buttons/pads before buying (what is the point of leaving questionable touch controls for bad physical ones). Let's hope XperiaPlay and Ouya compatible games will be easily playable. At least 8/16/32 bit emulators would be great.
would be nice to plug the gamepad thingy on and off

I'm hesitating to buy it... I mean, for the price, we can have a Nexus 7 :/
For 200$ and without physical button... It's not better or worse, that is just something else...
You'd better compare this Archos gamepad with yinlips and JXD Android consoles.

I'm looking for ICS, 6 buttons (2 shoulders), and one analog stick (all this is a minimum). Do not forget good perfs on emulators.

I can't wait for this to come out. Though shame there's not many sites which offer pre-orders.
I contacted a seller who's offering a pre-order and they said that the date of release is Friday 16th November with a price of £122 ( ex delivery) though nothings set in stone until announced publicly from Archos themselves. Which apparently is within the next week or so.

Trying to get my hands on the white Nyko, but so far release date was moved to 11/15/2012. Can't say that in all my time searching I found much of a smaller one. There is one on Kickstarter that is pretty small and fits as a keychain, but the problem is that the games have to SUPPORT the controller. So far, Nyko is the only controller I've seen that wont require this since it will have the options to customize touchpad, button control, etc. to the controller itself. IMO wait for the Nyko controller. The black Nyko is out right now.

not small and may not be cheap depending on what you may already have.
PS3 controller and a Gameklip - hard core awesome.
you can also use a USB PS3 controller or Xbox USB controller (native support IIRC) get a used one and chop the cable to short it with a $2 ebay OTG cable.

Well I managed to get the play pad pro a few weeks ago at a GameStop nearby and I gotta say its a solid controller but the compatibility isn't that great...it will work for emulators and games meant for gamepads like dead trigger but a ps3 controller u can map the touch screen to gamepad...a feature that nyko says will be in the future updates of their app. Their app as of now sucks but the controller has some dev potential ...honestly though I kinda wish I went with a ps3 controller where the dev is already here

After reading lots of review, I got this one http://dx.com/p/2-4ghz-wireless-dual-shock-joypad-controller-gamepad-for-pc-3-aaa-44217?item=14 . It's cheap and high quality. I have it for at least half a year. kids play with it a lot, without any problem.
Robust enough so it does not break. feels also heavy enough in your hands to give good user experience.
not need to install the driver - Plug and play worked on Win 7.
identical to brand-named joypads.
Thanks! Do you know if the regular playpad works the same way?

Just saw this on ebay.
Looks an awful lot like the Gametel with 2 analogs and a better dpad.
I quite like my phonejoy, though for some reason, the price has gone up (by $15) since I bought mine.
That's because shipping cost is now included I think.
I still wonder what I'm going to buy. I already got the Gametel but it feels cheap and really lack precision.
I play a lot of emulators and need something great for fighting games.
I don't feel really confident about Sony gamepad.
Their Dpad wasn't good back in the days, hard to make 2x quarter circle and stuff like that, but I never tried a PS3 controller though (are they really different from PS1 / PS2?).
I like the Logitech Dpad you can find on old RumblepadII and the F310-710 series.
But compatibility seems to be not that great from what I could find (few infos) and using the usb port (need to charge? stop playing ).
Phonejoy Dpad is great? you play fighting games?
this is pretty sweet i think im gonna buy one
Since I don't play often, and when I do it's just emulator stuff, I just use my Wiimote.
