It is included in the gapps file, and make sure you are flashing the gapps for 4.1.2 not 4.2 unless you are on cm10.1 http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip there is the link for 4.1.2 and make sure you do not dirty flash it, clean install oh and you need a file named .forcefaceunlock on the root of the sdcard

[Q] kernels problem

tested many roms now running on juggernaut 5
flashed synergy kernel and phone cant place calls ... just receive calls and send/receive mgs
so i restore and flashed hercules kernel (faux) still same problem
any help
sry for the demon that brought u here
what do u mean u cant make calls ???
answer: once i tap the call button, get the calling screen and call ended right away
Did you just answer and replied to your own thread? Anyways use darksides super wipe and do a fresh clean install. Flash dark side kernel or Eugenes
Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk
Be aware if you flash TDJ's super wipe you will have to re flash the ROM also. You cant just use it to flash a kernel.

Wish I could help you with that. But I can help you with this sound piece of advice, if you manage to get that .zip, DO NOT FLASH IT UNTIL you flash the flash counter removal .zip, so they can't tell you ever rooted/flashed on your phone. After flashing that, than proceed to flash that stock .zip...all the best and good luck to you!
Ask mrx ... he does everything stock he have bases on t989$

Yeah there were like 3 zips... Rom kernel and recovery. You turn just remove the super user after that. If anything you should be fine flashing stock ROM and kernel. No need to go to stock recovery

I can try to make a CWM/TWRP not De-odexed or rooted out of the stock T989 UVLH1 tar file and make a flashable stock recovery, once I get off work.
Edit 1:Uploading Flash-able SGH-T989 UVLH1 stock rom to Dev-host(20 minutes to finish upload) wait for confirmation i need to test it on my device 1st once is done uploading in the mean time i will make flash-able stock recovery and test it also.
Edit 2:Uploading done both rom and recovery, going to download now both and test it.

Ok testing completed, everything works as it should. The ROM zip will update your kernel to stock.
Might need to flash the UVLH1 radio 1st before flashing the stock recovery.
This is how I did it(tested it):
1. install/flash stock ROM 1st.
2. Once installation completed Reboot to custom recovery.
3. install/flash stock recovery.zip.
4. Power off to verified stock recovery.

baseband version aka modem? i think

hi guys,
alright some i'm new to this forum. i wouldnt consider myself that great at rooting and flashing etc but i'm getting the hang of it. been following qbking77 cuz he is like my god lol
anyway, i need to post at least 10 times before i can post on the thread that i wanna post on and i searched a little bit but cant seem to find what i'm looking for. and btw i have an Epic 4g.
ok, so ive noticed everyone saying i have CM10 or 9 and this and that and then they say they are on FC19 or El22 etc. I want to know how do i update/change that stuff, what my options are, and what would those benefits be?
i'm currently running CM10 build 9/14 by nightlies on stock FC09. will be going to the most recent build soon but want to maybe play with the baseband version. thanks guys.
You are correct. It is the baseband aka modem software on your phone. There is a thread in development that allows you to flash with clockwork mod and another thread that has you changing modems with Odin.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using xda premium
Since you're on CM10, your first stop should be this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=30433583
Should give you better service/speed than any Epic modem.

Ok. I'm a noob. I'm on stock fc09. So if I go to that link what modem would that put me at? And I'm assuming flashing means all you do is go to recovery mode and install zip from sd card, correct?

The modem package includes a modified kernel. You must flash the ROM first, or its included kernel won't recognize the Nexus modem.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
it keeps failing. i downloaded this: http://darkierawr.com/Android/Users/xboxfanj/nexusmodempatchcm10prevAIO.zip
was that the right one?
I'm pretty sure my baseband said unknown for the first hour or so before it showed the modem version
Sent from my SPH-D700 using xda app-developers app
the only way i could get that file to install was if i did it before the CM10 rom. when i do it after it fails. so i wiped cache and dalvik again and just installed CM10 and now i still have unknown baseband version. what do i do? will i have to do a data reset?
Try mounting system and data in recovery.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk 2
i accidently wiped date, then cache, then dalvik, mounted system and then mounted data. flashed CM10 and then tried the modem and it still failed.
nevermind! i accidently mounted sd card instead of system. wiped everything rebooted recovery, mounted system and data and installed both zips. booting up now. taking a while for the animation tho....

Installing AOKP on S3 with JB 4.1.1

Hey guys, I just picked up a new Galaxy S3 this morning and I'm not sure how to install a custom AOKP rom.
I've already rooted the phone, but because the firmware is 4.1.1 I'm unsure how to proceed.
Should I just install the latest AOKP rom version, or do I need to upgrade to a newer firmware while still using stock and go from there?

Should be in the q&a threads...
You'll need to install a custom recovery (twrp or cwm)
Than you can flash any ROM you want. If you want Tasks aokp just download the newest version and most recent gapps and flash as instructed in the thread.

I believe the rom I used to root my phone also installed CWM, so I should be good to go as soon as I finish downloading AOKP and gapps.

Make sure you have the latest version of cwm. They're at 6.0.2.3 if your recovery isn't at that than the flash won't work properly.

Cwm 6.0.3.1 is the most recent, not 6.0.2.3. You can find it in post #2, at the bottom. It's a zip you can flash in cwm

It's not really an issue, I just tend to be somewhat of a minimalist when it comes to boot logos and animations.
Either way, I don't know much about compiling kernels. And the consensus seems to be that your kernel is pretty good, so I'm gonna stick with it.
Thanks for the reply, and I appreciate your work on the rom. Cheers!

I'm assuming you're coming from stock rooted TW.
First two things you want to do are:
Upgrade your phone baseband/firmware to MD4. The newer versions of CM10.1 include a check for your bootloader. It must be MD4, so you'll need to make sure you're running that. You can go to Freeza's thread and download the MD4 Update file:
MD4 Firmware:
MD4 Firmware/modem/baseband update
MD5: EEEAFDBE59CF9C5B492B1A591EC92D02
Click to collapse
The file name is: Galaxy-S-fre3-MD4FirmwareModemAIO.zip
Upgrade your Recovery to the latest. I only run TWRP, so I can't say anything for CWM, but it's best to use the latest TWRP (v2.5.0.0) for installing CM10.1. Naddict has created update zips for the various recoveries that you can flash from the recovery itself. Also, CNexus has a recovery switcher that works well, too.
Other than that, I always recommend a full wipe before switching between TW and AOSP:
Wipe Cache and Dalvik Cache
Wipe /data
Wipe /system
Hope this helps!
Thank you very much.
Yes I'm stock rooted with cwm. And I have md4 already installed.
How stable is Cyanogenmod rc5?

I honestly haven't used CM 10.1 in a while, but typically the Release Candidates (RCs) are pretty rock solid. The best thing to do would be to read the last 10-15 pages of the CM10.1 Thread to see if there are any known bugs with RC5 (and if they're deal breakers for you).
