Hey there,
I got the international N2 the first day its out (3g). its been flashing roms between WanamLite and Omega. Yesterday I've been going through xda forum again and notice about CM10.1, I really like the out look of CM over TouchWiz. I came across 3 CM roms; the PACman, JellyBeer and Resurrection Remix. I flashed PACman first because it's the most interested one since it has all 3 CM10, Aokp and PA features packed into one rom. Really love turning the phone into tablet mode. Playing it around after i notice its based on 4.1.2 not 4.2.1 that i wanted, also i can't find any custom kernel for 4.1.2. I really want to use redpill kernel so i flashed Resurrection Remix (FAST & LIGHT), this rom is based on 4.2.1 and it comes with redpill on stock. one thing i dislike RR Remix is I can't change the DPI. Next I flashed the JellyBeer, its based on 4.2.1 also, unfortunately it doesn't allow me to install facebook and many other apps I tried so i switched back to Wanamlite V2.4 it took me quite awhile to download and install, since most of the CM roms are around 300mbs. The minute i flashed Wanamlite i felt the phone is heavy and laggy comparing to the CM. Today I went back to RR Remix. So far its the best out of the three CM roms i tried.
So far, love the CM10.1 on RR Remix, I knew i lost many good sammy features like the Snote, but how many time have you really pull out the spen to use? I got the Gnote on apps store with pretty much the same function as Snote.:good:
Pro and Cons I notice so far:
CM Pro: Very light memory consumption (around 400mb used), able to customize the battery, clock, toggles.
CM Cons: Battery charging very very slow (10% charge in an hour) if i am using the phone while charging; the battery % doesn't go up LOL
At the end, sorry for all my BAD ENGLISH
If anyone is facing the battery charging problem, please share with me if there's a way to fix it

Hi, Community
Guys, I new in the world android, but i decided to buy my firts android and is a Samsung Galaxy Gio.... a friend told me that these phones can be overlock the proccesor and much more.
but needed a rom mod to make all these things with a stock rom will not let me, here's my question which of all these roms are the most stable mod to work well as stock? and please tell me what are the bugs of all those roms mod if you have any?
Thanks guys for help me in the world android
For me the Particle ROM as I do not like custom launchers. I'm really satisfied with TouchWiz.
There is a small issue with Wifi though, it disconnects every once in a while.
Aside from that, stability, performance and battery life is very impressive.
hey there,
I use Particle Rom....impressive battery performance etc...
I also use a custom launcher with it called GOlauncher EX - I love it.
hey there
I've been using CyanogenMod 7.1 RC3 since a while, and for me it works perfectly.
However,I'm not totallly satisfied withthe battery lifetime, except that, it works awesome, I've been able tooverclock it to 883 Mhz.
And if you are satisfied with the TouchWiz UI, you can find a tutorial in CyanogenMod 1.st post, posted by me, it shows you how to put TouchWiz UI on CyanogenMod.
I hope I could help, however if youstill have any questions, PM me anytime I'm usually checking XDA.
I'm using GioPro 1.4 for 1 week almost and i have nothing bad to say about it, except the battery life ... can't get more then 24hours, but i'm playing 2-3 hours and wifi its always on. but it works like a charm. + I use GoLauncher ex and DT app2sd . i have arround 40 apps installed and 178mb free of phone memory
Using a CM 7.1 RC2 modded a few by me. faster and more stable of rc3.
Anyone had score in quadrant like 1800 apart from using CM 7.1 RC2?
Im using gio pro 1.4.& not many bug in this rom.simple & stable

There is no "best rom", what can be best for me...probably cannot be the best for you. So, this can be a redundant thread since everyone can have a different opinion. The best way to do it..try every rom..and the one you feel it fills your daily needs..that's the one
On that note, thread closed.
I'm not too new to Android. I'm not a developer, just a lover of the system. I hated the stock rom on my SGS3 and rooted and flashed the device to put some new roms on it. I've bounced around from rom to rom. I've settled on the ParanoidAOKPdroid rom.
I have some problems with it being stable (mostly sleep of deaths), but I expect that with any custom rom. So my question to you guys is this, What AOKP rom is the best rom that you've found? What one is the most stable, easiest to use, ect..
I found aokp on my samsung infuse 4g. I used to try a new rom every two weeks or so. Once I installed aokp on my infuse I have not had any real desire to go to any other rom which has xfered to my sgs3. I'm currently using task and ktoonsez's aokp and haven't tried the other ones for the s3 to give you my opinion on them.
Ive used task's aokp before. Its pretty solid and stable. I dont recall getting SOD on his aokp. I would recommend giving it a try.

Yeah, I use task's and toonz AOKP rom as well. Its amazing. Can't go back to TW after this.
I've run AOKP on my past Galaxy Player 5.0, and now I'm using task's AOKP on my GS3. It's really great - a lot of useful new features (which makes it much easier in day-to-day use), it's really fast, but I wouldn't call it quite as stable as touchwiz roms. It's not actually unstable at all, just touchy sometimes. I've never had a sleep of death or anything running task's ROM, usually any funkyness is my fault.
There's a definite learning curve to AOKP, it's a much more "vanilla android" experience than touchwiz but it's worth it. I just make sure I have a backup in TWRP (or CWM if you choose to use it) made frequently while I'm playing with stuff. Get AOKP installed and stable => do a backup. Install some more stuff, get it stable => do a backup, etc. This way you can play with stuff and not worry about breaking anything, you can go right back to where you were if you happen to make it unstable in any way.
Oh, and KT747 kernel is definitely worth a try too. EXCELLENT kernel.
I survived rooting an S3, flashing CM9 and then having wi-fi work fine that day but cease functioning the next. I tried CM10 but that didn't fix the wi-fi issue. I went back to stock 4.1.1 LK3 and wi-fi works. Are the wi-fi drivers in CM not that good? Nothing I tried could get connectivity after the first day. Reflashing didn't fix the issue.
I can live with relatively minor bugs in ROMs, but not when it comes to wi-fi. What else should I be trying? I'm thinking of LiquidSmooth, but am open to suggestions. What I did love about CM was how fast it booted and ran.
One person here whose opinion I highly respect uses Task ROM and Lean kernel. Anyone else like those?
Well there are many different roms out there I personally run Jellybam which is a mixture of AOKP, CM10, and Paranoid Android. Also, it's pretty stable i have the occasional Wifi drops but you just have to turn it off and turn it back on and I have problems with the Paranoid Android part of it. From what i know Cyanogenmod has moved on to 10.1 which is 4.2.1 and i think AOKP has move on to 4.2.1 and i think they are still working on some bugs. But i haven't been on their threads in a while.
But i heard that AOCP The Collective and Jedi Invasion are stable roms just to name a few (don't know 100%) but i would read up on their threads before doing anything as to be 100% sure before flashing. For example I read that someone had problems with Jedi Invasion 2.1 but 2.0 worked great for them, etc.
i had horrible wifi on any rom i tried. it onky worked on stock for me when i turned off wifi power saving. however the newest aokp from task, android 4.2 has fixed my problems and i no longer experience problems.

I find it odd that wi-fi is such an issue given how common and universal this technology is. Plus wi-fi is such an essential service, far more than many other features. Appreciate the replies, which have given me new ROMs to research more closely.

Not finding this. Search has zero results. Wrong spelling?
Ive had wifi issues on all cm 10 and aokp based roms. I havent had any wifi issues on the newer cm 10.1 or aokp 4.2 or any of the touch wiz based roms. Another option is use an app called smart wifi toggler it seems to work pretty well and is free on the play store.

Well, I'm looking at Task & Ktoonsez AOKP Task 4.2.1 as a first-choice potential ROM, so your positive remark about wi-fi is good to read.
I do use the wi-fi toggle you noted, but it won't overcome a functional wi-fi issue in a ROM...at least for me.
Out of curiosity, do these hybrid ROMs run themes for CM, AOKP and others or only one specific type?
Task and Ktoonsez is a great ROM really stable. I was using it for a while but I am actually running Liquid Smooth RC9 right now and its my ROM of choice. I personally like the vanilla experience you get from Liquidsmooth. The Liquid Splasher is incredibly customizable, and no issues with wifi whatsoever.
Good luck!

I read LS thread and was concerned about posts regarding different RCs. Some love RC7, others RC9, and there seemed to be a lot of things waiting to be fixed. No? I'm probably going to try the TK ROM first, but am keeping an eye on LS because I have a second S3 that I will root and flash after first one is ready for daily use. The wi-fi issue is most important to me, so I'm interested that you have had no problems on your S3.
Is Liquid Splasher the launcher?
Does LS support AOKP/CM10 themes?
Liquid Splasher is the internal customizer to set a various array of settings and configurations, there is a huge amount of options so kind of hard to give you a detailed listing of what it can do. LS Launcher is stock nothing special about it but you can always just install nova if you prefer nova.
Yes I have been able to run AOKP themes.
Heres the unofficial thread about LS http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012791
I am sure you will really like Tasks ROM its really good from the experience I had. But for me personally I am just having a lot more success with LS in regards to performance and app compatibility, and battery life. It seems everyone has a little different experience with custom ROM`s so I can only speak for myself that LS has been rock solid for me.
Hope that helps somewhat.
Yes, your remarks have been very helpful. Always good to read comments from someone with experience with these things. Most appreciated.
Hello.
I'm looking for a fast, stable and batterysaving everyday ROM for my Defy+ (red lens) phone.
This is NOT a 'best rom' question, I just want some input to find a ROM among all these GREAT options which is best suited for my needs. As there are loads of ROMs and versions, I'm hoping somebody else have been in my position and have a ROM to recommend!
I have tried Mokee, which was very fast, but a little buggy (dialer FC-ed when 3g) and not very well supported (yet) on Defy+.
Before that I ran the newest Quarx CM10 4.1.2 nightlies, but most of them have some irritating bugs (Wifi ch 11 not working, ringtone bug etc), and I don't want the hassle of having to upgrade the phone every week.
CM9, CM10, I really don't care as long as it is fast and stable.
Before that I ran the Pikachu-rom from TweetyPeety. It looked very nice, but developement is not continued and besides the not-so-great speed there were some bugs unfortunately.
Today I tried the newest CM9 (12-11-18) from Epsilon, but the batterydrain was bad compared to Mokee.
Thanks!

If you want a STABLE rom for DEFY than only back to stock GB and MS2G or CM7.
I have also tried many of the CM10 but if Reability, Speed and Battery is TOP agenda than only GB for now.

There is no such thing.

I've tried out some great Roms such as , Resurrection Remix, Liquid Smooth, SlimKat and Cyanogenmod
But so far i only like CyanogenMod, v10.1.3 and whenever i upgrade to the next version 10.2.1 i feel as if it lost its smoothness and it has some lag every now and then and it sorta disappoints me.
I've been wondering , if you guys can help recommend me a Kernel to flash for this rom?
i'm looking for a kernel for this Rom specifically like or specific type
(Type1 )
Very Smooth or Fast
Great or Good Battery life,
(Type 2)
Mixed Somewhat Smooth and Somewhat Good Battery life
(Type 3)
Very Fast and Smooth , okay or below average Battery life.
i use my phone almost daily for just apps and some camera footage but i just want to know if theirs a good one that meets my asking.
also how do i flash a kernel? or well do i have flash the kernel before the rom in CWM or after i flash the rom then flash the kernel????
sorta n00b here
I've been also thinking....
I've been also thinking if theirs a CM ROM? or a different ROM , refering to like a muisic based phone or rom.
such as a Rom that include speaker tweaks or mods and make the sound better or the quality perfomance greater.
and during calls to make it louder or sound better aswell. but also including smooth and fast responsiveness. ive been noticing the FC or force closes in the other roms and sometimes my phone wouldnt wake up when i push the power button and that sorta grinded my gears.
