*** skyrocket ics port q&a ***

Please post your questions and answers regarding my port here....
UPDATE: 5/24/2012
Won't be doing any work on this for a while. Phone got run over and can't afford a new one right now. Using my SGS4G as a backup until I can get a good price on an s2 or possibly a new S3.
UPDATE 4/5/2012
Good News is I got my phone back from JTAG repair... BAD NEWS is they messed up my usb port. Phone boots and all but I have no way to charge it.. When I plug it in it flashes a warning saying Battery is too hot or too cold, charging has been canceled. Was able to get in download mode and did a wipe to see if maybe it was a firmware issue but it did not help. Went back to download mode to see if I could flash a new boot.img and get this error:
Claiming interface... Failed. Attempting to detach driver...
Claiming interface again... Success
Setting up interface... Success
Beginning session...
Failed to initialise usb communication!
Re-attaching kernel driver...
Now my battery is completely dead so I can't try anything until I can get an external charger if they make one... will update as I can

I won't be able to work on this for a few days.
Bricked my phone working on a different kernel and modem.
Will send it out for jtag repair and have it back sometime next week hopefully...
Guess I will jump back to the sgs4g forum and work there for a few days.. Have that phone with unbrickable mod...
If anyone knows if unbrickable mod is available for this phone let me know.
I Have no problem tearing it apart and performing the mod.
Update 4/1/12 Turning down in call volume will cut down on in call echo.

On a side note i was having data issues and I flashed cache and reenterd my APN settings manually and it fixed it

You need to flash the superuser zip again in CWM. So long as the thread didn't get deleted in Development, look at the 3rd post, you should find a link there.

I actually had the same question too but no one answered..I ended up restoring my NAND backup of a 2.3.6 ROM, manually forcing it to go to WCDMA only, then re-flashing ICS, which effectively saved the settings. For some reason lol

is there a crt off option anywhere? it's the only thing missing (besides the autorotate, everything else works for me).

Is there a way to get the keyboard to go landscape without auto rotate?

any one has a problem with gallary not working when trying to add picture to a contact in contacts?

can we get the ics threads stickied, just so they stay on the front page to avoid a barrage of 'where do i download ics?' threads? since the threads can't be bumped by posts anymore.

just tried adding an alarm and it worked for me. I am guessing you may need to Fix Permissions.

i only got that when i cleared the caches, which was once. since then, it boots really quick.

Weird...mine does it everytime and data quit working randomly after it was working flawlessly all day.

Also having an issue with the gallery. The gallery works fine and I can view the pics, but trying to set a picture as the lockscreen background causes the gallery to freeze and screen to turn black and unresponsive. the capacitive buttons light up, and when I hit the power button it says unfortunately gallery has stopped. I've cleared data/cache, any one else able to reproduce this bug?

bug i found in DARKSIDE.UCLE2 beta 06

so...i just installed new beta 06 of Darkside...i really liked the new tw app drawer but i found a bug....theres no calender widget...like they used to have and the bug i found is...when adding agenda 4*4 to the screen touchwiz force close....then restarts...now the problem is...whenever u scroll back to the screen u tried to put that widget...touchwiz stops ( force closes). i did fix permissions....flashed darside.cache.wipe. but it just doesnt go...so i had to reflash the rom thinking it might be a bad download....but its the same case again. so now,..i am flashing the rom for third time and gonna use third party calender widget.
hope he fixes it soon.
update: ...so, altogether i flashed this ROM 4/5 times and NO...the FC doesnt go if u restart the phone. CONFIRMED. touchwiz home force close all the time.

I also found that I can't add a wallpaper from the home screen. I need to go to settings to do it.

Yup, something is wrong with the calendar.
Work around is to freeze it and use alternative.
Otherwise it will keep foreclosing every time you go to that screen.

Thats true...i dont see why they dont ask where is suppossed to. Also they need to read. There are bugs in OP...and Dereck said dont ask to fix it. They will do it..im pretty sure. But you people must learn to wait. He doesnt work specially for you guys. He has a life to live. Take it easy.

It has been discussed today that setting the widget will fc the launcher. Just reboot the device and it will be exactly where you placed it.

Ok. Sorry. I didnt know that. Its related to new tw Galaxy 3 launcher. It looks pretty nice but im having similar problems. Hopefully you can find a fix rebooting as dereck said. However i think we still could find some fc related to this tw launcher...i read a couple threads about other roms using this launcher with similar issues. Also setting up lockscreen.

Same problem here. I read pressing power + home for 2 seconds but i cant do it yet. You always can dowload a free screenshot app from the market.

try holding the buttons for a little longer. from my experience ics takes a little longer to screenshot.

Bug I found was that my boondocks cartoon videos in my SD card, colors are inverted when playing the video on either of the video players. Only inverted when watching in horizontal view. Normal when viewing vertically

also, i noticed that the vibration is very weak now, compared to beta 3. in regards to receiving phone calls or messages, it vibrates very weak, 1st thing i noticed after flashing

Buggy? What do you mean buggy?I have had a near flawless experience

My led notifications dont work for any mseed calls emails texts nothing , and ive tried everything using different apps deleting apps and reinstalling them.. this is big thing for me being I cant have my volume on at work so having led lets me know I missed call or have a new email / text
Also I cant send or get mms.. called sprint no towers or any known issues , also pulled battery put back in still dont work
Apps get deleted from my home pages and its different apps each time ....
Once in a while it will try to make a emergency call

Are you interested in trouble shooting or are you to the point that you're set to jump back to ICS?
If you are interested in trying to figure out your issues; we'd need to know which FK23 you used to start. You said you were stock/unrooted so I'd assume you used the .tar file with Odin, but I don't want to assume.
Like third son, I use Fk23 as my dd and have, so far, had a great experience to my delight. I used the intial .tar with pc Odin.

I would start from scratch. Sounds like you got a flacky install.

I guess I can try again... I followed the youtube video from qbking77 so whatever the video used is what I used lol
I mean I like this update but to buggy for me
So ill give it one more try. Any other way to try it would be great

OP - Try this link. (I'm am not saying it's better than _dan's, Mattix's, garwynns / nor am I saying unrooted is better than rooted. I'm saying this is the build that's my DD and has been great for me.)
Be advised to backup everything important from your phone prior. Read everything and take your time. I know you were busy but don't rush.
If you have any questions, I'm sure there are a ton of people willing to answer.

LED flashes blue for me when I get notifications
mms works instantly
gps is a near instant lock (unless I am in a known dead zone)
I got 16hr of battery yesterday with over 3h of screen time and still had 32% left in my battery before I plugged it in.
I had some problems using AGATs recovery. I did an initial install of the TAR (which erased my internal SD) then I flashed the one click and AGAT ( when they were first posted.and had some screen brightness issues) I tried a nandroid with the recovery and it nuked all my apps. I went back to the TAR (with ODIN) and have rooted stock now with no problems. Used Titanium backup to rid myself of the Sprintware. Waiting for source to droppatiently waiting :crying:waiting....:angel:
Don't give up on FK23 yet...once it is installed correctly it hits on all cylinders......

No, you don't have to reflash ICS. When you get home and if you have questions before hand, just ask.

Everything you mentioned works fine for me. Except apps disappearing from homepage, I got that too. Unless you move them to the internal sd it will keep happening. Hopefully that's fixed with FL04.. I have way too much apps and need as much on external as possible.

If you have the modem flashed already, don't worry about that one. Look on "about phone" to find out. The rooted one click will give you both kernel and rom. Are you familiar with how to do that? Not being a wise guy....just asking....

[Q] Remove Odin Mode?

I was wondering if it's at all possible to remove Odin Mode from my phone. I've been researching a good bit and haven't found anything. I've also searched here and other forums for anything related and haven't found anything, either.

Yes flash a ROM meant for another device. That will remove Odin mode and everything else. You will have the shiniest brick available. But it won't have Odin mode!

Good advice. But you forgot to mention the need for a complete wipe prior to flashing. Let's do things properly.

I came from a device that utilized fastboot as well and I was used to it so I understand where you are coming from. Unfortunately, there's nothing you can do about it.

I had a device with fast boot and I have no idea where he is coming from. Removing download mode won't do anything to benefit performance. You can't add fast boot to a Samsung device..at least that i am aware of. Download mode is just the way things are done in these parts. Removing it would only remove a potential lifeline when things get scary with soft brick. It would also remove the ability to root. If you want fast boot back, you will have to go back to a device that utilizes it.

I guess I worded it wrong. Before I even flashed a ROM, my phone didn't say Odin Mode at the very top of the download mode screen. I forget what it said, honestly, but I'm asking if it's possible to restore my phone to it's original state before I used Odin to root and mod it.

I did. It's on stock ROM and kernel, flash counter reset, and unrooted. It just bothers me that the download screen still says odin mode instead of what it used to.

Are you sure there isn't a way to disable /make unusable Download-mode/Odin-mode without breaking the integrity of the sbl?

Hmm, I just have an old personal custom kernel/rom on my old phone, I no longer use/hack it. It's totally useless, but I just want to keep my visual change forever (print my name at the boot, and some random other useless thing like that, it's juste for fun, somes little patch I make when I discovered the kernel), It is also to learn something new about the sbl-download mode, because I don't really know how it works, and I haven't found any documentations about this.
tl:dr : for fun, discover something new.

There is no way to remove download/Odin mode. To attempt to do this is absolutely retarded. I am now reporting this thread to stop the insanity. Do Not private message me again about this subject either.

Phone stuck in headset mode

Hello, recently(right now) I was eating a soup while watching a video... I know kind of stupid. And, I accidentally dropped my phone into it . So actually nothing happened, everything works fine, except one thing... my phone thinks I have headphones connected all the time when I'm not! The speakers wont work because this, only headphones work when I connect them. Please help me fast!:banghead:
Edit: I took a small wire and started moving it inside the headset port. When I keep it on the right the headset icon dissapears and it goes to speaker mode but as soon as I take it out it goes back . I even tried flashing another rom

Thats a harwareproblem, the best solution i can suggest is to look for a rom (or app) that lets you switch the sounds output between headset and speaker. Something like a widget...

I tried all the apps and none of them worked, and I already flashed another rom but that icon is still there, I don't know what to do, I think it's a problem with the port. Maybe I should take it to the service

I am not 100% sure, as I have only installed custom rom so far, but I guess you can install it by Odin, the files seem to be in .rar. Download one and see whats inside them, usually there is a .tar file if it has to be installed by Odin.
Check your phone baseband version and see if it matches one of them, otherwise wait and see what others suggest.
