rooting with CWM? - Samsung Galaxy Gio GT-S5660

Hello,
i have a question. Can you rood the galaxy gio after installing CWM recovery? If so, how do u do that?
I taught my phone was rooted and installed cwm recovery. But now it turned out that my something went wrong in rooting and cwm is allready installed.
Can i still root my phone without installing stock rom again?
I tried to go to update from sd card in the cwm recovery, but i can not choose any file.
I can only choose between no and yes install update. If i pick install update he installs something, but it is not the root file..

Hi,
You can try this, only for Gingerbread:

Use update.zip in the recovery mode.

Root + Flash Recovery was successful, but can't flash any roms?

guys help!
rooted my DHD successfully using visionary, installed ROM manager and flashed clockworkmod recovery 2.5.1.3 all fine.
when i boot into recovery i get this:
image 1
and when i try to apply a rom via sdcard:update.zip it says this:
image 2
phone just restarts and nothing is flashed...
I checked for root in Terminal Emulator and it was still there..
Seems you didn't apply S-OFF. Without it everything you do will be undone when you reboot.

he has but as he is S-ON you can't install cwm
but in Rom manager it said I had flashed to CWM 2.5.1.3 successfully....
i haven't done the s-OFF yet, i was kind of holding back on that because the guide said it was "optional"

thats the problem, without s-off you have no write access to the recovery partition, so although rom manager thought you had flashed the recovery ok, any changes made would of been reverted on boot
That was it, S-OFF was applied via One Click, then as soon as i booted into recovery, I had the proper CWM booted.
Thanks guys!

[q] cwm fail

I have done this a number of times and I know it works. I got a new phone GS3-T999. I want to insatll CWM and add a custom ROM. I go to Odin, I find my CWM.tar file, I run it and the phone reboots. NO Custom recovery, but stock recovery
The custom binary counter shows 3 (cause I ran it three times BECAUSE IT WASN'T WORKING)... and custom for Binary and Status.
I'm frustrated and have no idea what to do. This phone is new and did the OTA JB update.
Does the JB Stock ROM have something to do with this?
My question, what do I have to do the get my Custom Recovery so I can install .zip from SD card and get my custom ROM on the phone.
You need root first. Go the the link. Follow the root66 method using the odin instructions. After that download rom manager and load cwm recovery.

[Q] Can'find "install zip from sdcard" on my note 2

Helle everyone.
I am a noob here. I installed a new Android OS (i know you guys call it flashing a ROM) on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 but previously cleaned everything on my device.
Now I am running a new Android looks like the one before but I am not satisfied with it. What I want is that I could install any android version with zip file so I could install it using only the device no computers included and that's done by going into recovery by pressing power+volume up+menu simultaneously. I have done this before and installed android OS in a zip file. But now that I have installed this new android version I can't find "install zip from sdcard" when I go into recovery. Why is that? Can anyone else please help me please?
What recovery you have?
In TWRP:
Just press install and browse to file and click it then swipe to flash.
In Philz/CWM:
1. Flash zip
2. Install from sdcard
If you have non of these recoveries, then flash one of them using Odin (i don't know if Odin mobile would work)
Then try again..
Sent from my GT-N7100
I dont get TWRP or CWM
I don't understand what TWRP,Philz/CWM are? If you could please help me understand them!
I installed a firmware from a website (of course according to region)
And installed into my device using Odin on my PC. After that the recovery mode changed and I can't find some of those things i used to have
Like "install zip from sdcard" or "mount and storage" i lost those features. How can i get those back so i can install ROMs from sdcard?
You need a custom recovery like CWM. You can install it with odin. Your phone isnt rooted.
Sorry, what is a custom recovery and where can i get it? Do you have a link or a step by step guide concerning my situation?
I am using my N7100 posting this question and my phone is rooted, is there any application that can restore those things that i need ( for example, install zip from sdcard. How can i get this option back like it was before?
I think you're still using stock recovery as you don't know Twrp, cwm recovery.. They are called custom recovery. That give you more option than stock one such as flashing a new rom, install from SD card, backup your whole android system ( ROM), restoring it.. Blah blah blah...
First, have u root your phone? If so, you can go to these steps.
To install custom recovery, download latest Odin, then Google "cwm recovery for galaxy note 2 GT-N7100" and download that.. May be there'll be methods explained how to flash custom recovery.

Flash it with Odin, then you'll have a custom recovery called Twrp recovery, cwm /philz recovery. OK?

No, I am not using the stock market. I installed a new ROM (a custom one which has some nice features), and my phone is rooted (I use Titaniun backup). I flashed this custom ROM with this option "install this from sdcard" but now that i am using this ROM, I can't find that option anymore.
I'm a little bit confused why u don't know custom recovery and u have a custom rom.. To flash custom rom, u need custom recovery as far as I know...
OK.. Then, I think your recovery got some error
May be just reflash cwm recovery with Odin.. U can't flash with your phone now.. I installed cwm recovery from galaxynote2root.com.. Just Google how to install cwm recovery on GT-N7100 and look for that website.. Hope you'll be OK..

I installed an app called "recovery tool" on Play Store and helped me with what I wanted. Now I can flash with my GT-N7100.
Thanks anyway.
Thank you all for your help.

cant root phone

Hello,
I got a new note 2 today , I rooted it with cf-auto-root-tolte. the root installed and when i check it with a root checker it says rooted. So then i restart the phone like im going to install a custom os and it takes me to the factory os. How do i bypass this to install a custom rom?
If that's a custom rom it probably already has root, and anyway, the new rom can't inherit root. What you need to do is to flash a custom recovery which allows installing zip. Then flash the rom zip from the recovery.

I am unable to flash CWM or root my i9082. I followed the guide and even successfully installed cwm but when I boot into cwm it says no command found and automatically boots into stock recovery. Then when I tried to install rooting package from stock recovery it says E:Signature verification failed even though when i have not changed the name of the rooting package.
Can someone help me. I have Android 4.2.2 on my galaxy i9082 duos.
I even tried philz recovery but still same.

First of all..... you must place the "UPDATE-SuperSu-v1.25.zip" & "Fix-Recovery.zip" file in the root of external SD card....
While installing CWM using ODIN you must uncheck the "Auto reboot" option in the odin.....
after succesfull flashing of CWM remove the battery for 10 second and reinsert in after 10 sec....
now boot the phone in recovery using "vol up+home+power key" & not to the stock rom..... if you boot into rom.... the CWM will be automatically replaced by the stock recovery.....
after booting into CWM go to Install from SD card and flash the Fix-Recovery.Zip" first and then flash the super user....
and now you are done....
if you cant flash the fix recovery the after booting to rom it will again reverted to stock recovery...
hit THANKS if it helps you....
