OK and I got a question if I had 2 touch wiz ROMs and one has multi window and one doesn't can I go into the system and framework files of the that does and copy all the multi window files and permissions and stuff to the other one and multi window would then work on that one two or do you think it wouldnt work????

I don't really mess with touchwiz so I wouldn't really know. All I can say is to make a backup after you make a ROM like that and test it..

You would need to tranfer the whole systemui and tw frameworks over to the new rom. If you wanted the theme from the one without then you need to decompile both replace all the images and theme elements then recompile before moving them to the new rom

Multiwindow involves a sh*t ton of files to work its easier to move the whole thing instead of trying to piece it back together. Miss one file and its bootloop city

-You need a xml editor for this. Something like Notepad++
-This mod is untested because I dont have the device at the moment.
-Make a backup of your current framework-res.apk and Systemui.apk files
-After 2 weeks I believe I found all of what I need for this MOD after going through the framework and Systemui of my Galaxy Nexus
-This did work on my Galaxy Note
-Please try at your own risk
How To
1. Decompile the framework-res
2. In the values folder you will find bools.xml
3. Open up the file and search for "config_showNavigationBar"
4. This should be false, change it to True
5. Open up the dimens.xml and search for "navigation_bar_height"
6. Change the value there to either one of these because im not sure how it would look (25, 30, 35)
7. Recompile your framework-res.apk
8. Extract or Decompile the systemui.apk
9. Navigate to the drawable-hdpi folder
10. Download these NavBar_Icons images and place them in that folder
11. Zip or Recompile the systemui.apk
(OPTIONAL)
After completing the above
Disable the light on the capacitive touch keys(Home-Back-Menu-Search)
1. Decompile the framework-res.apk
2. In the values folder you will find arrays.xml
3. Open that xml and search for "config_autobrightnessbacklightvalues"
4. Change all values to 0
5. Recompile the framework-res.apk
Thanks!

People have always wanted them. We were just pushed aside by those who think only their opinions matter. Its part of ics and actually a cool feature. Now those manufacturers making them hardware keys in their néw devices is just stupid. I can understand not wanting them on existing devices but new ones come on. What about the consumer

[Mod][4.1.2][TW] Ink Effect No S Pen Now with Red/Black [Darker Ink]

New Darker Ink - For those of you that like the darker ink over the stock ink I modified the colors to make them bolder. Let me know what you think.
Flash either Darker ink or Ink Effect Red and Black but not both. They override each other.
Just flash the files attached. The first is the new patched android.policy.jar which should work like the other
The 2nd is a vrtheme to add classes.dex to secsettings so that you can choose the new colors
Step 1:
Flash the ink effect that you would like. Only diffenece between v1 and v2 is the grey shadow on lockscreen.
Step 2:
Flash SecSettings RedBlack especially if you want the Red and Black options to show up in you settings menu.
That's it. Pretty simple If you want darker in pick that one, if you want the standard ink pick that one. They override each other so only pick one.
I also attached the classes.dex file so you can do it manually for different roms, just overwrite the classes.dex in the secsettings.apk DO NOT FLASH THIS ONE. IT JUST HAS CLASSES.DEX IN IT.
V2
Removed the greyish tint on lockscreen that bajanman noticed. If you like it you can keep v1 that is the only change.
I would like to give a special thanks to jarari2 for helping me get the arrays right in the smali.
Confirmed Working on
NOTEorious Prime RC1.5 JB 4.1.2 AOSP/TW Mash-up N7105

Will this overwrite the previous policy.jar? Or add to it? Things like 4 way reboot are coded into it and unless its baked in with it then it could break that functionality right?

This is for 4.1.2 only, Jedi Rom doesn't have that base until after 3.3. I think X6 is the first one

Yeah youd basically pull the systemui tw frameworks frameworks res and any themed apps and pack them in a zip similar to a rom zip but without any wipe commands in the updater and without the remainder of the system files except any you themed like contacts mms etc

Depends on what all you themed and if the base was stock or themed. If the base was a stock themed rom you may be able to get away with flashing the theme to other roms. If you want to make it more universal using a stock deodexed rom to pull the sysui and frameworks from would work with any other deodexed rom from the same build and quite possibly newer or older builds as long as they are the same android version

Building a rom

So I am still trying to build my own rom. I have been unsuccessful to date.. do I thought I would take this in smaller bites. I decided to start by incorporating mods already made into a stock rom in Hope that would give me the necessary hands on experience. So I took to mods for ma7 and attempted to meld then into my stock rom.. the first one(4 in 1 mod) worked. . I was estatic.. excitedly I attempted the second mod (all apps multi tasking) but it did not work. Got no multi tasking bar at all. . I have been digging and digging trying all different things and just can't get it. .can someone help me. .

How are you incorporating them? You might need to fix permissions when you flash them or change the permissions in the updater script. What are you using as your stock rom?
Edit: Have you run a logcat? That could give you a starting point to start looking.
Edit #2: Double check when you recompile framework/apks. Sometimes when something just doesn't show or breaks like that it didn't compile correctly with your apk-tool.

Ok you can start laughing at me now. . All I did was take the changed files out of the zip file and put then in my rom zip file ... I am just trying to figure this out and I thought it looked like all the update did was unpack the stuff I was set. . Would the permissions not being right cause it to break it all together like that. . I think I remember the update script for the all apps mod set permissions. . I will start with that and see how it goes.

That is what I would try. Aren't those mods MA5? It is possible that MA7 makes significant enough changes that it breaks the mod.

They work fine with ma7 as if I flash the mod on a base system the mod works..
I have tried exery thing. I copied over all the parts of the updater that seem relevant. I have no idea what to try next. If I flash it without wiping system the multi window works but that is clearly left over from previous rom since If previous rom had all apps than all aps are present and if not then they don't. ..

Say if I wanted to theme my stock rooted touchwiz. If I found a theme for the s4 touchwiz, I obviously can't flash it! Sorry to say, no. Here is why sir.
1. S4 is still on android 4.2 based, while Note III is android 4.3 so things will be different.
2. The layout files will be different, which is a big piece.
Dpi wont come into play, becuase they both use xxHdpi images.. so the image part should for most part be fine to drag into Launcher3.apk. Not a guareentee all will be fine.. but should.
My suggestion..
1. If you have Root, have Nova or Apex loaded and make sure works.
2. With one of the above running, you can rename your launcher3.apk
3. I would only drag images from s4 launcher into Note III launcher.
4. Replace luancher apk on Note III change permission, reboot.
5. change back to TW Launcher..
With us just getting Root. You gotta give us a bit to get things going..

You take a huge chance of messing up phone and getting fc's using apk from other carriers N3 stuff. Especially Framework/SystemUI is almost always different by each carrier. They add stuff into those files..

Just go to the Dev section and you can download the whole Deodex ROM, it's already been done for you.

You need to have:
Android SDK
A graphic program like Gimp, Paint.Net, Photoshop
Apktool Manager
Java 6 and/or 7
That would be a start. Then you need to learn how to decompile Android Apk's

This thread is not the right area to request themign to be done, Use the Theme and Apps area fro that please.
The SecLauncher4.apk is the correct apk to decompile to get to labels for the launcher. I am not sure where those are at, haven't themed the Seclauncher since two versions ago..
I might suggest Nova whch will allow you to do things as well.
