I posted this in dev. In hopes someone can help. I have micro usb card and in my sgs3. I the powered at home went out and the phone drained to empty. Now the phone and others keep saying in needs to be formatted. I was able to view the files in clockwork recovery; but that's it. I just want the pics back of my children. I assume it's the mbr. Searched on how to fix. I came up with nothing. Any help is appreciated. I thanks in advance. This is an awesome community.

You probably have a bad sd card that could be the problem so you might be able to plug into a laptop or a sd card reader and check the files there.

Tried on a mac and a windows pc and says the same.... drive needs to be formatted. tried recovery software. Nada. Its there though. CWM sees it in recovery.

i have an htc evo, rooted with unrevoked and running the current fresh rom and a custom kernel, and up until now the fact that my computer doesnt read my evo didnt bother me, but now i want to add music and whatnot lol. my cable works fine, i tested it with a friends phone and my comp read it perfectly, and it also charges my phone so it cant be that. i have a feeling it has something to do with the root...but idk what exactly. anyone having the same problems?
I had that problem before rooting, it worked fine after flashing my first rom (CM6).
I think it's a fairly common, however random, problem with the Evo. If you're using a usb cable longer than ~2 feet, it will only charge.
EDIT: If you can't get it to work, you can use a wifi file explorer or ftp client to move files. I bought an app called "Websharing" or something similar because it has support for webdav which is just like plugging your phone in to the computer. You can drag and drop files through the file explorer on your computer. If you're one of those people that riots if an app isn't updated, don't bother. It hasn't been updated in over a year. I'm not sure if there are any other apps with webdav.

Why are you still using wires lol.
Have you tried going into recovery and selecting the USB-MS option? Oftentimes, when your computer refuses to recognize your device, it does when selecting the aforementioned from within recovery. Give it a try, if you haven't already.

The USB debugging is enabled so it can't be that. I've got clockwork running as my recovery but idk where to go exactly to enable the USB from recovery. Ill try that app out btw that sounds alot easier lol

It doesn't matter in recovery. ClockworkMod *should* have that option or similar option somewhere in its menu. Probably in the advanced menu, but I'm only guessing. I use amon_RA.

I had to uninstall HTC Sync, leave the drivers however. The see if it shows up as an Android Device.
I know when I had this problem I turned off usb debugging and my comp found it quickly don't know if you tried that yet nut its worth a shot

That did the trick. After playing around with clockwork i found the "mount-usb" and clicked it of course. Now my computer reads my phone Why is it though that the computer wont read it just from the plug, and that you have to go into recovery to enable it? Just curious now.

It's like that sometimes, especially if you disconnect your device from the computer before you unmount. Usually, a re-flash of the rom will restore the capability.

I'm not totally new to rooting but obviously messed up this time.
The bottom line is I get the splash screen and then black - nothing.
I'm pretty sure I can recover it but have no idea how.
Any help would be greatly appreciated for my 2 day old Sam Galaxy s2 (T Mob)

If the phone won't connect to USB storage simply remove the sd card if you have an adapter and plug into your PC and transfer that way.

Yes. But not all computers have readers. If you have one though, that is the best thing you can do.
Hello everyone,
I've searched around the forums but have yet to come across anyone with my exact set of problems.
Phone is a Samsung t999v on the Wind network.
I believe the problem started when a restore was done from a back up with no system information. TWRP tells me there is no OS on the phone.
As there isn't an OS zip file on the hard drive I cannot flash from internal card.
Odin 3.04 fails to add tar file of stock rom after repeated attempts.
drivers will not load with G s3 toolkit allowing phone to be recognized.
Connecting the phone to PC while in TWRP or even in download mode and the PC (Windows 7 ultimate wink wink) will show in devices as a modem but doesn't show up in "my computer". Drivers failed to load is the message after connecting the phone.
Last working OS was the latest AOKP build two.
I hoping someone can help me out. I do feel that this information is probably on here somewhere but I've searched with no luck.
I really trying to get an OS onto this phone and hope I haven't screw it up for a friend of mine. These forums have helped do some good works with my phone and phones of my friends that I guess I ended up thinking I knew more than I did. I should have stock with clockworkr which didn't have the option to back up without system. safer for a dummy.

Yes I can download them from the website but at times the device is still not recognized. For some reason this happens with all my Samsung products. My PC often time does not recognize them. It started months ago with my 10.1 Tab and them my i727 and this t999v. I have to contect the usb and disconnect several time before they'll connect even changing ports. But now they don't connect at all.
Since you have twrp, why don't you just flash a ROM?

I would love to but how do I get the ROM on to the phone? The phone is not being recognized by computer. I have an sd car but my other samsung phone isn't recognized by the pc either.
Uninstall the drivers you have installed (the Samsung ones) and uninstall Kies if you have that installed.
Install the drivers from my signature. They are an older version. I use them because all of the newer ones do exactly what you are describing. The PC won't see the device, etc.
If all else fails buy a card reader. One of the 10+ in 1 sd card readers. Probably should have one of those anyway; just a thought.

Thanks for the advise. I'm going to go grab a micro sd reader now, hopefully. The drivers from your signature didn't fail to install as well. Can anyone think of what the source of the issue is. My drivers failing to install is happening on both of my PC's. I didn't try to install the older drivers on my second pc however.

You can download the ROM on another phone and transfer it to an SD card, after that you can swap it to the one with no os and flash it

I have the same problem with my phone being recognized. I will sit there and plug and unplug the cable into the same usb port repeatedly, and eventually it'll be recognized.

It says MTP mode failed so I guess that's the mode. Both have happened but usually the fail happens after I plug in the device.

Sometimes peoples use port locate on the front panel of their PC.... Always use the usb on the back...... Thoses on the motherboard.
If it's not your case.... Try to switch port..

i put the sd card into my blackberry copied the rom on to the phone but he phone wont pick it up
wont recongize my phone when i plug it in as well -_-

I followed all the steps exactly and the problem still persists. KIES fails at installing drivers and same happens when I connect the phone. The only place I can there being an error was that I replaced and copied the files in Windows INF as the new files had the same names as the old ones. As for that everything else I followed the steps exactly with no luck.

Might be worth a shot but it doesn't seem likely that it's a cable issue. The cable is effectively new and PC does recognize that I'm connecting a device.

What recovery are you using to try and read the SD card?

I am using a unrooted Rogers SGS3. After I installed the latest Samsung 4.1.2 update, the phone shows the SD card is damaged, need reformatting. I plug it into computer, all my data are gone. I need a good software to recover some of contents on this SD card

If you're just worrying about pictures I use CardRecovery. It isn't perfect but it has recovered about 80% of my lost pictures. Its designed for cameras specifically but works with all sdcards
There is a recovery pro tool I've seen but it runs $200+

Before you format your SD card try this post. It works for me everytime my phone tells me I have a corrupted SD card. It might fix your issue. Good luck!

I searched the forums and I'm unable to find anything that helps. I've done something tremendously stupid and I was hoping someone here can help me out.
Like a dumbass, I went into CWM and did all of the pre-flash stuff BEFORE I moved the zip files for the new rom onto my phone. Now the phone will only go to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Logo, download mode or Clockwork Recovery.
I need to find a way to either flash back to stock or get the rom onto there. I have an external SD card but CWM isn't picking it up. When I attempt to load a zip, I just see /0, /legacy and /obb.
Any assistance (and berating for doing such a stupid thing) you can provide would be great.
EDIT: Typo....and to say that I was able to find the sdcard in CWM. I'm a little frazzled so I think this is fixable.
EDIT 2: ODIN doesn't recognize it when I plug it in while it's in Download Mode.

My fix included the ability of the device to be seen via USB...

RESOLVED.
Resolved by loading a 4.4 rom into the external SD card and flashing from that.
Unfortunately, that blew out my baseband and imei so I had no cell service. That was fixed by another post on this forum and a reset by Kies software. Now I just have to reset the flash counter and I'm good.
Thanks to the reply and anyone who viewed it and chose not to rub my nose in it. It's much appreciated.
