That Rom is based off Kobridges FL16 deodexed JB Rom. Since we do not have source, the stock kernel only has stock recovery. In other words, you will not have cwm after flashing because of the stock kernel. What everyone is doing if they want to load zips is use mobile Odin to flash EL29 direct boot cwm or el26 cwm. Then flash whatever zip you need then flash stock TW JB kernel and reboot. Once you flash the stock kernel, it removes cwm.
Steps how I do it
DL EL29 direct boot cwm, save on sd
DL any zips you want to install
DL mobile Odin
Use mobile Odin flash EL29 direct boot cwm
When phone reboots to cwm, flash zips
Flash stock FL16 KERNEL
Reboot

[q] cwm fail

I have done this a number of times and I know it works. I got a new phone GS3-T999. I want to insatll CWM and add a custom ROM. I go to Odin, I find my CWM.tar file, I run it and the phone reboots. NO Custom recovery, but stock recovery
The custom binary counter shows 3 (cause I ran it three times BECAUSE IT WASN'T WORKING)... and custom for Binary and Status.
I'm frustrated and have no idea what to do. This phone is new and did the OTA JB update.
Does the JB Stock ROM have something to do with this?
My question, what do I have to do the get my Custom Recovery so I can install .zip from SD card and get my custom ROM on the phone.
You need root first. Go the the link. Follow the root66 method using the odin instructions. After that download rom manager and load cwm recovery.

[Q] Won't boot rom or cwm recovery - only download mode

Hi! I have encountered a problem, and really hope someone can help me!
Two days ago i flashed Omnirom Nightly on my n7105 to get Android 4.4. I was running cmw recovery but couldnt get the ota updates to work, so i was trying to flash open recovery instead. I used an apk that was supposed to install a script.
When i rebootet my phone, all i could get was the Note 2 boot image. It wont boot into recovery mode, or the rom. I am however able to boot into download mode.
Custom Binary download: Yes (4 counts).
Current binary: Custom
System Status: Custom.
How should i proceed? I've already tried to reflash cwm recovery, which did work, but didnt solve the problem. I am currently downloading stock firmware, but the file is 1.2 GB so it will take i while. Figured i should ask here in the meanwhile.
I'm not an expert at Android at all, im just a guy enjoying having custom roms and playing around a little. I do know that there are a lot of very talented people in this forum, and i really hope someone can help me find a solution. I've been googling for hours, but cant find anything that seems to work for me / or i dont fully understand and wont risk try before someone approves it.
Thank you, Vetle
EDIT: Is it correct that i cant flash any custom rom trough Odin? Or could i just flash omnirom again trough Odin?
If i manage to flash the stock rom and the bootloop goes away, will everything go back to normal, so i can flash cmw again and then a custom rom again?
No custom rom can be flashed through odin, as most of them are zip cwm/twrp base.
When u can only go to download mode, an official firmware only can help u through odin.
Sent from SM-N9005 with xda-app
Thanks for the answer!
Yup, i have flashed a stock rom now and i got the stock recovery. Everything was working fine.
Then i proceeded to do a factory reset in the stock recovery and flashed cwm trough Odin. When it was done, it wouldnt let me into recovery again! I can still boot up the phone tough.
I've also tried Open recovery. CWM via Rom manager. Open Recovery trough Goo Manager... Still cant get recovery to work, the stock rom works tough.
Any ideas?
Okay, i tried to flash the stock rom again and installed Rom Manger.
It still showes TWRP and CWM under installed recovery and i guess these its these two who makes the problem.
My plan now is to figure out how to completely remove them. I've never done anything related to adb before, so i hope it possible to remove them in another way?
This is so weird. Somehow i managed to install CWM Touch via Rom Manager and it booted. When i choose reboot /pull battery it will only boot straight into CWM again. I tried to flash TWRP via Odin, wich sucseeds, but then it reboots into CWM again!
I am soo lost its almost funny!
EDIT: Since i could get into cwm now, i tried to flash omnirom, but it aborts and all i get is status 7...?
EDIT2: Latest now is that i suddenly managed to install TWRP via Odin, but i still cant install the latest omnirom, all it says is "updating partition details".

I had recovery problems in the last few days also.
Installed DN3 rom using philz recovery, because its capable of prepare the phone to a new rom in a easy way.
It all went fine until first reboot.
I had a recovery boot loop. All I could see were some buttons and then reboot again.
Like you I had download access and flashed philz with Odin, but no luck.
Installed twrp via Odin and all was fine, and flashed philz new version.
Then I had to flash a new kernel (to be able to access wifi) and it all started again. Now I'm back on twrp.
Let's see what happens on my next flash.
My suggestion is to flash the recovery, and if that's OK flash the rom and use it
Next time you need recovery get Odin to help, but not all the way from an original rom. Just the custom recovery.
But if you want to get rid of your strange recovery configuration, and you are not already on new 4.3 recovery(which in your case could explain some of the problems you had) , with knox, install an older original rom, 4.1, and make all the steps, root it, install a custom recovery, and from there the room you want.
Reading your path sorting this problem, that was what would do next
Best regards

[Q] Android 4.3 update via odin fail

Hello everyone,
I decided today to try and switch from aokp android 4.4.2 rom back to the official 4.3 update. I Factory reset and cleared cache, and then flashed the .tar file via odin, and it said it passed. Unfortunately, it gets to the flashing Samsung logo, and gets stuck there.. any suggestions on how to fix this?

What phone model and carrier do you use and where did you find an Odin flashable file for 4.3 JB? Do you have custom recovery installed on your phone?

I have a bell SGH-I747M, I got the zip off of sam mobile, and I did, until I flashed the rom through Odin and it removed root and cwm

The 4.3 ROM would have been better flashed as a zip file via custom recovery than Odin. I would suggest you first try booting into recovery mode and doing a hard wipe/reset. If this does not work, then you may try reinstalling the zip. Boot into download mode and flash custom recovery (cwm or TWRP) via Odin. Also copy the zip file you earlier downloaded (unextracted) onto an SDHC card or you may try another download via this link <http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319199494>. If you are able to successfully flash custom recovery, don't allow the phone to reboot but remove the battery and insert the card. Then boot into custom recovery and flash the zip from the SDHC card. Clear the cache and reset and, hopefully, your phone will be back in business.

[Q] Can I downgrade?

Hi this is a long post so I will highly appreciate it if anyone helps me even after reading this.
I was on xperia z-ized v3.4 (based on android 4.3) with mj5 as the bootloader. I was tired of that rom and wanted to try dn3 rom and downloaded the zip as well but the OP of the rom thread said that twrp recovery is recommended over cwm. So I went to thread given in the page which showed me how to flash twrp. It was just download the zip and flash it in recovery, which is exactly what I did. Now ever since then I am not able to turn on my phone, nor does it go to recovery, it just goes into download mode which made me change my decision. Now I am thinking to downgrade back to 4.1.2 and I will try dn3 rom later on. I downloaded the firmware from sammobile but just wanted to ask that given my previous firmwares and flashes, is it safe to flash or will I risk bricking my phone.
Thanks for reading this and please help me out if you can

Well if you still want to try DN3 ROM you can flash philz recovery tar.md5 via odin and then once you boot into recovery you can get twrp zip file that you downloaded previously and flash twrp over philz. That's what i do when i switch recoveries.I never used CWM except when i was on 4.1.2 but once i rooted my phone the same day i switched to philz. If you don't want to try dn3 at the moment yes you can go back 4.1.2 since you are on mj5 bootloader which makes downgrading back to 4.1.2 possible.I'm giving you links below for philz tar.md5 and instructions on how to flash it via odin incase you change your mind.
philz tar.md5
Put your phone into download mode, open odin on pc,uncheck auto reboot in odin, dont touch anything else, connect phone to pc,wait for port ID to lit up and be blue.Select the AP/PDA tab and navigate to flash this downloaded philz tar file.Click start and you are done.Exit odin on pc.Pull battery out your phone.Wait a minute then put it back in and manually enter recovery mode your newly flashed philz recovery will load. Now go and install twrp recovery zip file and select "reboot recovery" in philz advanced options.Your twrp recovery will load.Do all the wipes in twrp by going under advanced wipe (dont wipe external sd and otg) this will fully wipe your internal phone memory clean then go back to main menu and flash DN3.Enjoy.

Well try other 4.4.2 custom TW rom,dn3 isn't the only ROM available on xda for our note II.Look around and I am sure you'll find something that suits you.

Actually to be honest I want to go back to stock but I odin shows fail, so is there any workaround for that.
PS: even dn3 doesn't boot up now after flashing. Stuck on the note II logo. Tried wiping cache, dalvik cache and factory reset but to no avail

Well which recovery are you using now?TWRP?Do you have a back up of any ROM? I suggest go under advanced wipe and wipe everything except external sd card and otg. This will fully wipe your phone.Other suggestion is flashing stock 4.4.2 ROM and then trying custom ROM.

Tried whatever you said just now, still not booting up. I am on philz recovery and I did not take any backup. I only have stock 4.1.2 rom which is not getting flashed via odin and I cannot download stock 4.4.2 because my internet connection is slow..
what should I do?

AT&T Note 2 stuck in TWRP boot loop

I've had AOKP & TWRP installed for nearly 3 years. The phone started rebooting occasionally when I would go to manage apps and kill an app. It finally got hosed really good on the last reboot and it got stuck in a TWRP boot loop. I was able to use odin to reflash TWRP and after the initial flash I could get into TWRP recovery. Unfortunately I don't have any of the necessary image files on the sdcard. I then tried to flash a converted AOKP zip (now a tar converted with toolkit). I am not able to get either the toolkit or adb detect the device although I am able to flash with odin. I flashed the AOKP tar image with odin but now when it boot it stays on the Galaxy Note 2 screen and goes no further.
Now I can only get in download mode and since odin seems to be the only thing that is working for me my question is can I use it to flash AOKP and GAPPS (both of which I have on computer)? If so, what format does the AOKP file need to be? img, tar or what? Also can I convert the gapps zip file to a tar and use odin to flash it?
Much thanks in advance. I plan to purchase a new device soon but would like to get this working again as a backup.
Regards, ~metafizik
Use a stock/rooted .tar image to restore the device partition structure.
It contains the PIT for remapping...
Once a stock rooted rom is flashed and running...flash TWRP 2.8.6.0 via Odin...
Then create a nandroid backup to SD CARD..
You can then flash AOKP and GAPPS as .zip files...in TWRP
It's a bit more work....but you'll have a clean backup and a way back if trouble hits...along with fresh partitions...g
I recommend flashing back to stock, get the phone set up using stock, install TWRP, take a nandroid backup, and then flash a custom ROM.
