[Q] Google Talk authn error on Gin2Blur - Xperia Play Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK, so here's the story. I recently decided to flash my XPlay (r800x with a locked boot loader) with Gin2Blur. Over all its a very nice rom and props to the dev for his work, however, I keep encountering an error a bit into use. Google Play stops letting me download and suddenly GTalkr (which isnt even ON this rom) decides to wack out and give me errors. Because of this its immposible for me to redownload my games from market (since most have a degree of Anti-Piracy) I have tryed clearing data, reflashing, and installing the G Talk apk, which gives me package parsing problems.
Any help would be appreciated.

I never got Talk to work on gingerbread for the Play, but I don't know if that's the reason why you can't download. Make sure your dpi is set at 240 and have AccountAndSyncSettings.apk installed. I had to do factory reset to get it to work on some rom.
No issues with stock roms.

Yes, I have also been, have the same problem, but, the solution is to clear data on these specific apps, Google Play Store, Google Services Framework, and Google Play services. Reboot, then it should be fixed. But, then if you can't download apps, just wait about an half hour to an hour then apps your should be re-downloadable. Also, please use the banner in your signature, it would mean a lot.

I have tryed clearing already but ill give it another shot. And, if you knew about this bug, why wasnt it put in the bugs list on the thread. As much as I like this rom, I dont feel right supporting something that gives me problems like this, but if its fixed ill be more then happy to put it in my sig.

*solved*A bit of advice, please...

I have been trying, for a few days, to download/update some apps. A lot of the ones I try to download say "not compatible with your device". OK, may be a market/geographic issue. But when I try to update google+, it downloads the app then says the app is not signed correctly? And when I try to update Facebook I get the not compatible message? But the best thing is, when I try a factory data reset, it goes thru the motions but nothing happens, ie not signed out of Google, etc. I'm using doomlords kernel, supercharger v6 scripts, xperia apps2sd, a few build prop edits so there may be some issue there, tho can't figure it out. Any advice?
*edit* btw, not bothered too much about fb or Google+, phone functionality is great so not going to start from scratch, just want to check there's no serious issues that may cause future probs
Uninstalled market updates, signed out/in and seems to be OK. Still don't get the failed factory reset,though...

As you say, there is no point in reinstalling everything just because FB and G+ isn't updating properly... But what you can do is try to see if there is an app that you have installed that my trigger this problem. I.E Some time ago I had an app installed that somehow did not allow me to update astro... I uninstalled it and everything started to work like a charm.
My system is a untouched Xperia Arc.
Think it was the market app itself. Had installed 3.1.3 from an xda post, removed update and that's sorted. Just don't get being unable to factory reset.

[HELP REQUEST] Apps from Google Play Store won't download via wi-fi! (a brand new XP)

Hi guys,
this is driving me nuts. I've searched the webs and found some answers, but not anything I'd like to do to remedy this problem.
My brand new R800i, not rooted, won't download games from Google Play Store via wi-fi. It will just say "starting download" and then nothing happens, I can just just watch that bar indicating download as it does not move one bit. It seems some other people had this same problem, as I've found out on the internet. 3G works fine though. I had to download my games from the Play Store using 3G, which is a pain in the ass.
A few points to consider:
- I have only so far used one wi-fi point, which worked with all my previous Xperia Plays. Maybe if I try a different hot-spot, the problem will magically disappear?
- I do not want to root, unlock bootloader or do any such things with my XP.
- I do NOT want to reset my phone to factory settings, I would lose lots of savegame data.
- I HAVE tried several times clearing the cache of the Google Store app, Download Manager app and resetting the Google Talk app. Did not help.
- Downloading from any other source (Gameloft for example) works via wi-fi, it's just that stupid Google Play Store that does not.
- Some people say the problem should sort itself out after a few days...It's been two weeks and I still can't download via wi-fi from the Store.
Could any kind soul suggest a solution that does not involve resetting my phone, or rooting? Thanks for any advice.

Yes, did not help.
Besides, that just erases your user data right? Your log-in and password.
I will try it again just to be sure, but I think I did it too.
i too had same prob. but it got solved after 3 or 4 days... may be i was lucky.
Used to have this problem. Uninstall update ( this will get you back to old market) then let it update again. That's what I did.

...doesn't work for me, nor does anything else mentioned before Tried installing 3.8.15 via .apk and back to stock, clearing cache, data etc. Play Store works with UMTS/EDGE but not as good as before (takes a while before download actually starts, that behavior is new). With WiFi I don't get an error message but the download simply doesn't start. Everything else I do via WiFi works great (FTP-syncing calendar data stored on my NAS, browsing the web, file transfer via ES-FileExplorer and so on).
I use a Galaxy S3 with Siyah Kernel (1.5rc1), XXBLG8 Stock Firmware and XXLH1 modem. Same Market issue before the update (Siyah 1.4, Stock XXALE8, stock modem (May 2012)). So maybe it is not at all model related, but something with the market itself... Strangely I found just a few posts about this - here I have the most hope for help

First: I know I am in the wrong model section, as I use a Galaxy S3 but post under Sony Xperia... Sorry for that - it was just a topic that seemed Google Play Store related rather than dependant on a specific model.
Second: I tried all of this (although I don't have such a section under settings/accounts on my phone) and more. I just flashed the latest stock firmware again*, did a full wipe, used TriangleAway! and every single thing I can think of. I even went to my google-account to see if there's something wrong, but no.
Still: UMTS works, WiFi doesn't. WiFi otherwise perfectly working with all kinds of uses. Tried all tips and hints, nothing works. Problem started a few days ago with older fw/ROM, which I didn't touch for weeks and worked fine until then. I really don't have a clue what changed!
EDIT: I also checked, if my ISP or my WLAN settings (router) are off - nada. I tried to install/update an app on another Android device in my household: this one works perfectly with WiFi. So it must be the Store itself...
UPDATE: Still no real solution! In the meantime it worked for a few days without my doing and in the same way it stopped working again today. I guess the Google server software is bugged. I placed a support request at Google-Support. This was an experience I can't make public enough:
Even though I initially told them what I tried they just did a copy&paste of their own F.A.Q. This went on for four days, the didn't even read my information. And I was quite thorough. I even made a network capture file, prefiltered it with Wireshark and attached it to the e-mail. As proof that my firewall isnt't blocking the traffic. No reaction to that, no technician was asked or involved, nothing. They simply closed the ticket and left me standing there. I'm still pretty pi...ed. This kind of "support" I don't want at all. Just a waste of time. I sincerely hope for a Google PlayStore replacement so one is not practically forced to use it. I'd volunteer to pay 1$ more for each buy just to circumvent that kind of nonsense Google is playing here.
This is me again. My problem is back, I can't download via WiFi from Google play store on both my Xperia play and Nexus 7. What is strange though is that SOME apps will download while others will not. It seems that apps I paid for some amount /like GTA 3, Max Payne, Reckless Racing/ and that were never completely free, WILL download. Others that I got for free /e.g. Call of Mini Zombies, Juggernaut, Heroes Call and many others/ will not download. This seems peculiar to me. Did anyone have this kind of behaviour on your android device?

[Q] Help! Need apk for original version of Android Market on Play

OK, I recently rooted my Play after promising myself to do it for about a year. I installed link2sd and was delighted to start moving stuff to my SD and freeing up internal memory which was perpetually flagging 'danger leve'l at around 38 megs free.
However, I got a bit over-zealous. I was trying to move the Play marketplace but failing - due to it being an system app that had had updates applied. I cleared the updates and converted to a user app, moving it to the SD too. Now though, it had reverted back to the original 'Android Marketplace' of course. So I thought I'd do a reboot to get it to update.
However, after rebooting it didn't seem to want to update again as I had hoped it would. No problem, I thought, and sourced a Google Play .apk (com.android.vending-4.0.27.apk) and installed it.
This seemed to work, as the Google Play store dutifully installed. All seemed well ... until I tried to install an app. As the download began, It promptly crashed with the message "The application Google Play Store (process com.android.vending) has stopped completely. Please try again."
This then happened every time I tried to launch it. Some searching suggested I try clearing the cache and data and sure enough this allows the store app to run again - however every time I try to download something it just causes the crash.
Obviously I've corrupted the installation somehow and need to get back to the original Marketplace app and try to get it to update itself. However, being a dumbass even though I had bought Ti Backup (with pro) I hadn't bothered to do a proper system backup :silly:
Anyone know where I can source an .apk that will give me the original Marketplace back again? I don't want to have to unlock the bootloader and flash a system image which is the only sure way I can think to fix it (I'm pretty sure that a factory reset will just clear the /data partition and won't do anything with the /system apps, which is what I have screwed up).
Thanks to anyone who can help me overcome my stupidity :good:

You don't need to unlock your bootlader to flash a system image. Sony PC Companion will flash the latest system image available on Sonys servers to your handset. This is what I would do. Next time don't move/delete anything integral to Android from your phone.
Cheers! Hadn't really used the Sony software much but will definitely give that a go. Next time I'll do a full Titanium backup too, before I start tinkering...
Strange that you'd even have this issue. I instantly Link2SD'ed all of Google's stuff... the play store updates, google settings and even Google's hidden services got the "get off my damn phone storage" treatment and have done a good job at bending over and doing whatever I tell them to.
Sent from my R800a using xda app-developers app
Good news - I was about to reflash the system but on a hunch decided to remove the 'Google Play Services' package and my store magically started downloading apps again!
I'm guessing that there was some sort of conflict between the two. According to the description in the store;
"Google Play services is used to update Google apps and apps from Google Play. This component gives you access to Google Settings and helps apps speed up offline searches, provide more immersive maps, and improve performance.
Apps may not work if you uninstall Google Play services. You probably need this component."
Hmmm, everything so far seems to be working and a number of updates went through since removing it so I'll wait and see. Maybe the store will install a compatible version itself at some point, when it updates next.

root access with Link2SD is an absolute must for the Xperia - it's the best thing I've done to my XP since I got it and should have rooted/installed it as soon as I heard about it.
It totally transforms the usability of the Xperia Play. What on earth were Sony thinking giving the phone such a paltry amount of usable memory?!!!

[Q] Google Play Store Keeps Crashing on Rooted Note 4, What to do?

I have a Sprint Note 4 which is rooted and yesterday I downloaded Lucky Patcher and the Modded Google Play Store to replace my stock Google Play Store. So through Titanium, I backed up the stock Google Play Store and then I uninstalled it, since the Modded Google Play Store would not let me install it without doing that. I also cleared the cache and data on Google Play Store and now it just keeps crashing all the time. When I try to download something, it starts to download and then immediately it crashes and gives me the "Unfortunately, Play Store has stopped working" error. I get the error no matter which version of Play Store I use now, whether it is the modded or the official version. I tried clearing data/cache to Google Play Services as well, to no avail. When I try to restore my backup of Google Play Store through Titanium it stays frozen with "Restoring Google Play Store 5.1.11" and I end up having to force stop Titanium. This is so annoying! What can I do? Thanks so much in advance!!!
1) Go to Application manager/All, scroll down to where you find these three: Google Services Framework, Google Play, and Google Play Services. Force stop and delete cache and data for the first two (in order given). You won't be able to force close Google Play Services but choose Manage storage and scroll to bottom to clear all data. It's annoying that they may try to restart, just clear again and reboot quickly.
2) If that doesn't work, got a nandroid backup?
3) Re-flash current ROM, if no.
4) If stock and no backup, consider another ROM or start over with Odin stock tar.
Note: options 3 and 4 may require clean install.
Note 2: I've tried to suggest from least inconvenience to most; hopefully, the easier methods will do.
Edit: you may also see an option to uninstall update to revert to the original system application; consider that as option 2 or 3 for Google Play.

Ok I just did that now when I run Play Store it doesn't crash, instead it is says " Check your internet connection and try again" It seems as if it isn't recognizing that I actually do have a connection? I heard that if you go to the files on the phone to "etc/hosts" file and put a "#" in front of the second IP address in the hosts file that it will work but I just tried that and it didn't so I reverted the file back.
Also I tried going to settings>accounts and removing my Google accounts and re adding them but Play store still says I have no connection (which I clearly do). I made sure my date/time settings are right as well. This is happening with the modded play store and the official 5.2.12 Play Store.
YouTube randomly crashes now as well and gives me "unfortunately, YouTube has stopped " Google play store is still not recognizing that I am connected. I think I have tried just about anything besides flashing back to the stock ROM
Did you try step one again after swapping the Google Play versions? Worth a try, if you didn't.
One more thing: Lucky Patcher creates an Odex file. You should use the Lucky Patcher option to remove the Odex and restore the original. If you're ROM is deodexed, Titanium may not fix this for you. You can manually check for Odex file as well. Titanium is also useful to check for unneeded dalvik-cache files.
And one last suggestion I omitted: in recovery, delete all cache and dalvik cache and reboot.

Hmmm it is working now after hours of fumbling around with settings. Both the Modded and official newest Google Play Stores started working after I turned off "Google License Verification Emulation" and I had to turn off "Google Billing Emulation". Very stressful lol but they were the default settings and I didn't really want to mess with any of the settings as I am just starting with Lucky Patcher.

Was that Google Play version 5.2.12?
I flashed that to system yesterday and everything was working except that it didn't populate my applications and notify updates until a day later. I had to search for updates that I knew were available. Today, the apps populated and I got update notification for available updates. I think it may be part of the battery savings that lollipop is supposed to be bringing; less Google Play wakes.
Consider that your manipulation results may have been skewed by Google not immediately syncing the update.
As for my experience, I did find myself doing step one and considering flashing the nandroid but waited for applications to sync. They did finally sync this morning. The longer sync of apps may have been induced locally by the use of Xposed module "Recent Apps" which can be configured to force close apps and remove from recents, reducing wake times.

The # is used in scripts to comment out; meaning ignore that line in your host file.
As far as LP, there is a help link to read. Discussion threads on LP may get closed on XDA; LP may be a useful tool but leans toward piracy. Not saying this pertains to you but there was a thread that the developer participated in that xda allowed to remain open with a warning. That should be sufficient, unless closed as well.

I know, it can be used for illegal purposes which is NOT what I am using it for just to be clear so the post doesn't get deleted because someone thinks I am using it illegally, which I'm not.. anyways, if anyone has any tips on LP id appreciate it thanks!!
Why not go to your time and date and turn off automatic time?
It worked for me!
No more check connection in google play store and youtube not loading
Google Store Crashing but only when rooted.
Why is it that when running stock lollipop 5.1.1 on Galaxy S6 Edge is it that Google Play Store constantly crashes when I'm rooted.
When no root it works fine and dandy.
Soon as rooted the bloody thing crashes constantly..
The only way I managed to keep rooted was to use stock google play store and prevent it from updating.
This I can cope with.. If anyone else has come across this issue and found a better way to fix it please let me know
My note 4 lollipop 5.1.1 device has rooted but fix problem in Google play when I update big file(like no system apps) apps so when it's completely update after start beginning wht can I do it

Error 963 downloading from play store

Having bought and attempted to download a game from the play store (they're having a sale) they took my money and then didn't give me the game, I've wiped data on play services and play store several times and even logged out of Google altogether. Still gives me this horrible error.
I'm currently running viper ROM 1.6.0.
Has anyone seen this error?, does anyone know a way to fix it?
Thanks.
Edit: now getting error 940.
Really getting on my nerves this. Can't install anything.
EDIT 2: Have uninstalled Viper for the time being, I don't know if it was the rom's fault or not but i've went with another until i resurfaces, funny thing is, this was apparently a real issue on the M8 too (I didn't own that phone) either way, will leave this here incase a fix arises.

I had the same problem with this error 963 when I wanted to download a certain game but I solved that as I was logging in with my computer to the google store and give a permission from there to install the game, the result a good working limbo on my HTC M9! I hope this will help you too!

Actually went ahead and re-installed the rom, all working now, I've heard of HTC devices having this issue before, namely on the M8, although I didn't have that device, could be a google issue i suppose, just never seen it before.
I'm having this issue rite now, and reinstalling rom has not helped at all. What else can I do?
Just had the same issue myself. Try initiating the download via the play store, I switched to another app and downloaded that.
Seeing as though you reinstalled your ROM, that's interesting, the can only be so much that remains consistent..
The content on your internal and external memories and your accounts.. The problem resides in one or the two, the fact that the user before you was able to deal with the issue via the internet I'd say its more an account issue..one of the problems I had with the 963 error was the download changed size in the play store.. The initial size of limbo was around 120MB and after the first error the size changed to around 27MB, what I thought had happened is a corruption had taken place in my memory and it was failing for that reason.. Personally I'd clear the downloaded data for the app that you're getting and I would initiate the download via the web. Fingers crossed it works. Good luck, let me know how it goes.

i went on my PC and installed some apps through play store on my PC, but some are still failing with some different codes. ive tried wiping play store, google play services and and frame work, but no good.
What ROM are you using? I switched from viper to leedroid but then it happened on Lee droid too. After reinstalling the ROM the issue went away. I'm really not sure what else to suggest. Could there be a flag on your Google account which is stopping it? I dont believe its luck at all, there has to be a reason why this is happening. Try this.
Disconnect your Google account, wipe data for Google framework, Google play services and Google play. Delete the nearly downloaded file. Go to recovery and wipe dalvic and cache. Boot back into the phone and sign into your Google account. Then pull the game from the play store on the web, do it in that sequence and hopefully it'll work. Hopefully someone else will chime in with a suggestion or a fix.
Also list the codes which you're getting, might spark an idea with someone else.
I'm starting to think its something installed or a corruption. Between ROMs I always wipe the internal memory and simply select key folders which I want to keep, ie: downloads, dcim, Zedge, co pilot, maybe I'm inadvertently fixing the issue without knowing it.
i believe i fixed it.
1) download a file manager then navigate to sdcard\android\data and obb and delete the files of the apps that are failing to install
2) clear cache and delvik cache in recovery
3) open play store, go to my apps, then scroll over to all apps
4) locate the apps that are failing to install and click the little "X" on the top right of the entry and delete them from account, even if they are paid for, you will still be able to re-install.
5) log on to the play store via a computer, search for the apps that wont install and install them through the play store on the PC
I think whats going on here and why we are getting errors is because we may have restored a backup and then stopped it from downloading apps or lost connection, etc, and play store thinks the app IS already installed on the phone and wont let you download it. i had about 15 apps that wouldn't install and i fixed all using this method.
Sort of along the same lines as what I said, nice one for reporting back on it I'll try this next time it occurs. Cheers fella.

i tried cleaning the apps data (play store, frame work, and services) and signing out and in etc, but i think that only made the issue worse.
This post mate.

Either way it doesn't matter, glad you've got it working. Appreciate you feeding back.

ive done this multiple times and every time i did it, more and more apps would fail, so i think doing this made it worse.
Besides removing the apps from the apps list in the play store, its no different mate. Haha let it go.

I have/had this issue. When I unmount my external sd card everything downloads fine. If I try with sd card mounted nothing downloads
This was happening to me on a bone stock ATT 32gb... It just started working again for some unknown reason..
Confirmed, unmounting sd card makes updates/downloads/installs work again.
Because google is too ****ing retarded to implement an option that gives you the option to select what storage to use when you download a certain app...
Really how hard is it to add that google?!
Press install -> get popup with either SD card or internal memory for the app -> done..
No instead we have to use ****ty apptoSD crap..
But it's all part of the typical google mindset "our way or **** off"
