I am getting random lockups anyone else? - Sprint Samsung Galaxy Note II

I have been getting random lockups on my stock rooted note 2, has anyone else ran into this problem?
Sent from my Note 2 on xda premium

Just today my random lock ups started on MIUI. Out of no where.

I think it only happens with certain apps for me. Like dolphin and Swype beta. Might have to do with having flash enabled? Also had two reboots since yesterday and got put in safe mode once. Stock rooted...

Always backtrack just when the problem started. Last apps or mods installed. Reverse and undo what was done. The phone itself should not randomly freeze lockup or reboot on its own. I've been running Lk8 stock rooted deodexed since the op released it. I've installed many apps and mods, never rebooted or froze. Rock solid so far.

[Q] Recurring Logcat ERROR with FD24 (sfhub ODIN NoData)

Finally moved up from my ODIN oneclick EL29 install from sfhub to his FD24 one (NoData). No mods were made to EL29 at all from time of install, just program installations.
Overall, FD24 seems to work well except for:
- the weird scrolling style now
- no scrolling wallpaper (even static ones)
- and a Home button that feels SLIGHTLY more unresponsive than EL29's
When I opened up aLogcat to take a look if there were any messages popping up at all, I was surprised to see the line:
"E/ ( xxxx): URE: SkPaint in getMeasureCacheProc index: 2"
recurring every few seconds (normally in little bursts of 5-10 messages). At first I thought it had something to do with aLogcat itself, since the "xxxx" number at the time matched aLogcat's PID. However, I uninstalled and tried CatLog from the Market instead, and it's still showing the same behavior. Never saw this message before with EL29... just wondering if anyone else is seeing the same?
Thanks in advance.
I have been getting that on all the ICS leaks

Okay, good to know it's not just me then. Probably won't bother with a Full Wipe restore if that's the only big thing I see.

I have the official Samsung/Sprint ICS (no custom ROM; not rooted) and I'm getting this error. quite annoying.
Why are you running such an old version. Ff18 is the newest build.

Okay now I see you posted this months ago and someone just responded so it popped up again.

And still months later, Sprint *still* has this error ripping out every second or so on their stock ICS load making it really difficult to debug apps my team is developing. Any good updates that won't change my handset around too much? I've tried an AOKP JB build, looked for a CM build, and that's about it. The AOKP rom seem to "cost" too much (battery life cut in half, camera acts weird, radio reception seems horrible (I mean worse than Sprint usually does!). Suggestions - this is the D710 handset and it seems like other versions of the SGSII are better supported out there.
This is fixed in the official JB builds. Should be out pretty soon now, but GB08 works great already.

[HELP] HOT REBOOTS ON CM10 and AOKP

So I flashed AOKP JB Milestone 1, and it ran great (fast, smooth, etc). However, after about 10 minutes of using it I started getting Hot Reboots about every 10 minutes. I could not figure out how to fix it, so I decided to flash the latest CM10 Nightly, and it was the same issue, ran fine for 10 minutes then started Hot Rebooting every minute or two. I could not fix it in CM10 either.
Because of this I had to go back to my modified Stock Nandroid. I do not want to be using stock anymore though and would really like to figure out what was causing these Hot Reboots. I made sure to clear my Wallet Data before I flashed the new roms...I did clean installs with wiping the phone multiple times...
Does anyone have any idea as to what might be going on here? Is there a superwipe zip for the d2tmo that might help?
ANY SUGGESTIONS ARE APPRECIATED!
Wipe data factory reset, wipe system flash ROM of choice then instal ONE app at a time and test it for about an hour or more. Should help solve your issue.

Make sure you're using a compatible kernel. Then try other ones as well.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app

Yeah, I just wanted to throw that out there since a lot of people don't stick with the kernel thst comes with the rom. If you're still having trouble id say try elesbbs suggestion a few posts back.
Good luck!

SG3 Rookie...help me piece together a ROM

Was only on stock for less than a day, rooted, installed a couple renditions of goodness and a random other and just haven't found what I want to be my daily. I've been on goodness 9.0.4 for quite some time but the headaches I've experienced just aren't what I'm used to. Before anyone asks, I always fully wipe phone sometimes twice before I sample. Did the same in my HTC Evo days. Which brings up were I'm going with this. On my original Evo I ran swagged out stock.....beautiful, and my Evo LTE, worse phone I've ever paid $200 for, I ran MeanBean...another great ROM to my suiting. For anyone unfamiliar with those 2 they are mostly stock ROMs with just the right amount of extras, custom boot animation, maybe a slightly tweaked drop down menu with a couple popular apps or settings added, the must have Super User and WiFi Tethering, and one of my favorites the ability to reboot into recovery from the power off menu, not sure what that's called but its priceless. So I begin by offering up my willingness to try other ROMs out there based on suggestions you, the experienced, throw out. But I can't help but wonder if all I really need is stock with a few extras. That's where I'm lost, I couldn't find a gs3 mod that would work for me and stopped before I broke something. Open for suggestions, and appreciate everyone's time. As well I am greatfull for all the hard work that the details s have put into the Roms I've tried, your incredibly talented people and your time and knowledge are above and beyond.

If you want a stock but fully customizable I would say to check out MOAR ROM or Synergy.

I was in the same spot as you for awhile. I've tried lots of roms and a lot of different setups. So far I've been on Cyanogenmod 10.1 the longest so far but that's far from stock TW. You also might want to check out Cm Rom, I really like that one. Lol But if you get the flashing bug you won't stay with any one rom for a long period of time. But good luck in you quest

Correction on this post. The rom I meant to say was "CSROM". Sorry about that lol easy to mix up.

Tried out clean bean...very fast, very debloated...first thing I noticed was an error saying something about needing to dial my number to retrieve a voicemail.....very, very debloated. This would be a great core ROM to add your personal preferences and random wants to. I'd still like to find one with a little of that already applied....I know, I'm lazy...

Any AOSP ROM you have to flash the Sprint vvm if you want it separately, or use Google Voice.
Edit: Clean bean is not AOSP but you can still load the Sprint vvm apk on any ROM that does not have it. I always keep the most updated version on my external card for any AOSP ROM that I flash. Try one of the ROMs I posted earlier in the thread.

I can't be the only one

I LOVE the feel of vanilla android, which is why I had a nexus 4, and a GNEX before that. But at the moment I am using a galaxy s3. First thing I did was root and start going through custom ROMs.
The problem I am having is EVERY aosp, aokp, cm ROM I have tried I have serious issues with WiFi. Tends to work fine during set up and for a while after that, but after a seemingly random amount of time it will shut off the WiFi and fail to turn back on until I reboot.
I have been searching for a couple hours for a solution with no luck. Has anyone else been having this problem, and if so is there a solution?
Thanks in Advance.

I had the same problem. Try LiquidSmooth.
Sent from my SGH-T999 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
I have tried liquid smooth, pacman, dirty unicorn, and a couple others. Every touchwiz ROM I try WiFi is perfect.
I use twrp to wipe data, cache, system, and dalvik several times. Then I install ROM, wipe dalvik again, reboot system. Let it be for usually 10 minutes or so, restart the phone and go. Works great for a minute, then the WiFi issues...
Update your bootloader possibly? Change your modem.

Or try the latest kt kernel. His kernels have an update WiFi driver.

use my rom, you won't know the difference
remember AOSP = open source driver's that aren't meant for this phone, they will work. just never as well

It's certainly an option. Haven't used the ROM, but it looks good.
I was mostly responding because I always insisted on using AOSP ROMs also. I just got fed up with all the issues (at the time), and went back to TW. I don't particularly like the way it looks, but I don't really see the menus. The homescreen is the exact same (Nova). All the apps are the same. What I'm saying is the aesthetics can be overlooked.
Stuff from sources are always more stable than when there isn't , understand that and you'll know the troubles that comes with it.

I've actually never had WiFi issues on AOSP ROMs. I've been rocking CyanogenMod ever since the cm9 days too.

I'll stand by this, great rom and super fast. Personally, I haven't had any wifi problems with liquid smooth though.
His rom is amazing and all, but there are differences in AOSP and twiz no matter how much we try to separate them both.

Thought I put this in Q&A, thanks.
I will try updating the kernel when I'm off work. If no luck I will try the suggested ROM.
Thanks for the tips.

[Q] Triangle Away assistance

Anyone running PA3.99 RC2 with Triangle Away?? Mine seems to stay on the Loading... After Detecting. All ready clean installed, wiped, fixed permissions.. Any help would be great. (Yes I've also posted this in the PA thread. Thanks
Sent from my SGH-T999 using xda app-developers app
Probably needs to be on touchwiz to work. Besides, it won't give much benefit on any non touchwiz roms because if you have a custom kernel or recovery, it will re-trip the counter each time you reboot.

Ok.. No longer on PA.. Back to CM10.2 nightly... I love how I have 124 views and ONE reply.. It's cool though. I've been fooling around with phones since my iPhone 2g I installed Android on and my HTC HD2 Leo the Windows phone I put Android on! .. Mod Please lock this thread! Its a waste of space and I understand! Thank you!

Probably no one else replied because they saw mine, and since it was unanswered and not disputed, they had nothing to add. If you disagree with what I posted or think I'm wrong about needing to be run on touchwiz, then say so and it may prompt more attention.
Also, while probably ok to post it here, it might be seen by more people if you posted it in Q&A. Personally, I generally only visit T&A (lol) once or twice every few days. I imagine there's others that do the same.
