I'm trying to install the GBTweaked rom on my verizon cdma xperia play r800x but every time i try to reboot into cwm recovery it just reboots normally. I saw other questions about this and tried what they said about holding down the volume button but none of them worked. It just keeps rebooting normally. Can you help me?
Also, verizon now allows their xperia plays to unlock their bootloader but when i tried to do it it said to download sdk and then go to the files adt-bundle-windows>sdk>extras>google>usb-driver. I got that far but then it said to Point to the usb_driver folder where you placed the android_winusb.inf-file, and select the Android Boot loader Interface-file. But there is no android boot loader interface-file. So if any of you have tried this method before or no how to do it please help me.

No buddy to get to cwm recovery you have to use an app called x-parts and download the apk from the xda site use v1. To get into recovery you use the volume d-rocker down (if you use the x-parts apk to install cwm recovery) and no Verizon doesn't allow bootloader to be unlocked for free you have to pay for the unlock idk where you got your information"interface-file" from.

Gbtweaked is not a custom rom it is stocked tweak rom. Which is why your running it on your locked bootloader because it is "stock".
I didn't know that thanks for the info but can someone post the instructions on how to unlock the boot loader because the Sony instructions aren't updsted

Just pay for the bootloader unlock like I did. The R800x is requires a different procedure for the bootloader to be unlocked.
But Sony says the r800x is supported now and I got the unlock key and everything the only problem is that I got confused while following the steps because one of the files was missing. I also don't want to pay 20 dollars to unlock it when there is a free way. Does anyone know how to do it?

The only thing that was outdated was the location of adb for fastboot. Everything is is correct...if your on window 7 or 8, maybe vista(Haven't. Used in years so I'm sketchy on it) restart your computer/laptop and repeatedly tap F8, then go down to Disable driver signature or something along that line and press enter....then you should be able to find the boot interface file....I'll double check later on my computer on where I put it in the sdk...

Idk about all this folder/file modifying but I unlocked mine simply using these instructions (win 7 and possibly below) :
1)download omnius SE and install it
2) hold search key on your phone and plug in the USB the phone's led should turn blue. And the PC should fail to install drivers.
3)then click the start orb and type in the search box "device manager" without quotes and open it then find your device I believe its labeled "s1 boot device" but it may not it may be in the USB serial ports area
4) click your device and tell it to update drivers then pick manually update and just browse to the omnius folder and hit install, it will then install the drivers and bam...
5) now just follow Sony's guide to unlock the boot loader and you should be good..
6) you will need fast boot installed on your PC, just find it (it should be in C:/Android SDK/platform tools) and hold shift, right click and open command window here then just type the codes for the unlocking

Were you able to find which folder the boot interface file was placed in because i was finally able to install the drivers and i disabled the driver signature like you said but when i tried unlocking the boot loader it failed. I found fastboot under platform tools folder but i wasnt sure if that was the same thing.

Check if your bootloader isn't locked and you have unlock it first.

What I would do is flash back but at first check if your fastboot is actually not working.
Turn off the device and check it, take out the battery and put it back in then hold search button and plug in usb if you have a blue light then fastboot is ok.
You also need Android ADB drivers which you need to have the Android SDK to get them or if you have flashtool there is a drivers folder which is the simplest method to install ADB bridge.
Then using flashtool (if it worked) flashed the DoomLord Kernel, if it says you have no permission to do so then you need to unlock your bootloader.

You should first download flashtool. Then use flashtool to flash the verizon firmware. I will provide a link. Then enter flashmode by turning your phone off completely. Hold the back button, and plug the usb in the computer and then into the phone while still holding the back button. A green light should appear on the top. Then flash the firmware and there. Then use superoneclick to root

Luckily you have flashtool so you do not need the Android Sdk. There should be a drivers folder in your flashtool and an executable inside that will install like a normal program. This contains all the drivers you will ever need.
On every time it installs one it will prompt you to install or not install jusf click install and you will be asked this about 20 times for each driver.

If I remember correctly, the xperia play 4g was R800at and not R800x. Well anyway you have to download the firmware for your phone. Then place it in the firmware folder inside the flashtool folder. This should be the correct firmware for your phone. http://www.mediafire.com/?qqvtl484nlz3gq0 just place the ftf in the firmware folder. Start flashtool, click flash, then choose flashmode. Select the firmware. There should be instructions on how to plug in your phone and there it should flash.

in your hard drive, go to the flashtool folder usually in the C: drive. in that folder will be another folder called "drivers" in that folder is an install file.

Drivers aren't installed then.
I had a phone that couldn't get into fastboot, R800at. I was able to get the unlock code from Sony's website, but being unable to get into fastboot meant I couldn't use it.
Power off the phone, hold the search button, and plug the usb into the computer. If the LED turns blue, then you are in fastboot mode and need to install the proper drivers. If you don't have a blue LED you can't use Sony's official unlock process - instead have to use the testpoint method.

Quick question, how do i unlock my bootloader via flashtool?
It should be fairly easy if you have the correct drivers installed... Just use either the plugin option or the icon that looks like a padlock... It will ask you to put it in flash mode... Once you put it in flash mode it will bring up menu box with 2 slots... One for your imei/meid & one for your unlock code.... Just put in your unlock code...hit unlock... It will tell you to put it in fastboot mode... The rest is completed by flashtool.

I remember seeing it somewhere that someone actually did!
I just tried to flash Revolution ICS HD the lastest version on my ARC S with a locked bootloader. I have flashed some other roms before on this device and every time something f**ks up I've been able to go back to stock with Sony PC Companion. This time how ever I can't! I select repair device and the arc s, then connect it to the pc while pressing back it connects, no problem. But Sony PC companion is now telling me that there is no software available for my phone, in the details it says that Sony Update Engine doesn't have software available for your phone.
Does anyone know a solution to this problem? Is there another way to flash anything to my phone like clockwork mod or anything so I can use this phone again?
Any answer appreciated!
Try again and see if repair works. If not, flash a stock kernel with CWM and restore a nandroid backup if you have 1.

i know unlocking the bootloader didnt cause sony companion to fail i deleted all the software in the "safe list" of bloatware to delete to get more space and one of them was update services.
Thats why i really want to install CM 10

When you unlock bootloader PC companion update don't work anymore. Forget about using it as repair software
As i said in first reply:
-power off your phone (removing battery will do the trick)
-hold back button and connect usb cable to Play
-flash stock frimware with flashtool (tutorial how to use it is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2054486
(read on if you want custom kernel/ROM)
-download ROM you want to use and place it in SD Card
-power off your phone
-hold search and connect usb cable to Play
-in flashtool, click on lighting icon, choose fastboot mode and select kernel you want to flash
-remove usb cable
-power on phone, and phone vibrate press volume down key (Volume down is for CWR, volume up is for TWRP recovery in lupus kernel, for doomlord kernel is back button)
-format system and data from recovery
-choose "install zip from sdcard" and choose ROM that you put in sc card
Keep in mind that kernel must match rom you are instaling. JB kernel for JB roms, ICS kernels for ics roms, GB kernel for GB roms
List of roms and firmwares you can find at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2184897
half sucsessful
ok so i used flashtool to install lupus cm9 kernal then i booted into recovery and installed the cm9 zip from cyanogenmod website

Hello friends,
I'm trying to install cyanogenmod and no matter what I do I consistently get the device not found error when I try to use "adb push cm-10.2.0-RC1-endeavoru.zip \sdcard\"
I know that in the cyanogenmod install guide it says it's probable that it's a driver issue. I've looked around for a good 2 hours trying to find what it might be, so I've tried reinstalling htc sync, I've tried uninstalling htc sync and using koush's universal adb driver, but nothing seems to work.
When using "adb devices" it doesn't give me the error, it just gives me "List of devices attached" which is empty. (I'm not sure if this is what it is supposed to do though)
Attached img of what I've been doing.
USB debugging is on. It's been automatically turned on whenever I connect it to my PC since I updated to 4.2.2 anyway.
I have no idea where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated.

Sorry, I'm completely new to this. Do you mean normal recovery from bootloader or a custom recovery that I should of done but completely skipped due to my ignorance? (I also haven't unlocked bootloader so I'm assuming that's a misstep as well?)
Because all I get when I do the normal recovery is a picture of a phone with a red triangle and "!" combo.
Thanks
Yeah to install a custom rom it's mandatory to unlock the bootloader and install a custom recovery. And what i can tell from your post it that you really are a novice on things. Some tips ?
1: never start without a full battery
2: learn fastboot + commands
3: always make a stock rom nandroid backup before starting flashing !
Read up in this forum. Under the stickys there are some nifty guides. If you have questions after that just ask here.

Thanks for the tips!
After a while of toiling to try and unlock the boot loader manually and getting stuck at the load error for Unlock_code.bin, I found Hasoon2000's tool, so he is my god for now.
My query that I have is, Do I need a custom recovery like ClockWorkMod to create a nandroid back up? Because all I get when I try to go into recovery from the bootloader is this (img attached, not mine because I don't have another camera in the house but luckily I managed to find one on google img.)
I can't find anything saying that I do need a custom recovery, but then again it's not working when I try without one, so I'm not too sure where to go from here.
Thanks again
Please read carefully what i write, i know exactly what to do !
You need a custom recovery !
Sorry to be back again so soon but I'm stuck again, haha.
When I try to flash cwm I get "error: cannot load 'recovery.img'". When I try to use Hasoon2000's tool kit to do it for me it doesn't work either as it just says device not found and in the second command window it says that it can't load it's .img file either.
The recovery.img is in the same location as fastboot. My phone is in Fastboot in bootloader.
I'm typing "r:\Android\adt\sdk\platform-tools\fastboot flash recovery recovery.img". Trying to auto complete recovery.img using tab does nothing (if that might indicate some sort of problem).
The only thing I can think of is that the MTP drivers never install properly but I read on this forum that it shouldn't affect fastboot.
If you are on windows you must select camera as usb option

If javaj jdk is just normal java then yes. In programs and features it's called Java 7 Update 45?
Do you mean the phone drivers on my PC?
Edit: Noticed jdk was the dev kit. Downloaded and installed. Will try again.
Edit2: Still not working, same errors.
Jre is normal java jdk is the development kit
and yes that drivers

I just updated the phone drivers (without HTC sync) from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2376761 to 4.2.0.001 from the 4.0 version I had that HTC sync had installed previously for some reason.
Shows up in fastboot devices now. Still doesn't show up in adb devices. Still getting the can't load recovery.img error.
Would it be worth it to try doing it on another computer?
Yes and plz post results

Ok so I still couldn't do it manually on the other computer. Got the same errors as with the first. I tried flashing with Hasoon2000's tool again and noticed that it was trying to flash CWM.img while the recovery for it was actually called recovery.img. Renamed it to CWM.img and it flashed perfectly.
I assume it would of done the same on the original PC I tried it on.
No idea why it wouldn't work when I tried it manually, but yolo. Hasoon2000 is love. Hasoon2000 is life.
Holy hell Hasoon2000 has saved me again.
I flashed the kernal by accident and it got stuck in boot. So i just sideloaded the rom in H2K's tool and everything turned up Milhouse.
Yay congrats

And if it says can not load recovery that means it's named differently or that it's not placed in the same dir of the fastboot files. A common error is that people hide filename extensions in windows. Then rename the recovery to recovery.img.img and then it won't be found by fastboot
