to get the drivers, just go to your xperia flashtool folder, then drivers then install the flashtool drivers through the applications. if you dont have it yet, download flashtool.

I have flashtool, but then what do i next, open up the command prompt, then what?
in your hard drive, go to the flashtool folder usually in the C: drive. in that folder will be another folder called "drivers" in that folder is an install file.

You cant on the R800x. The only is flashing a custom kernel and to see if your xperia play boots to the homescreen.

Actually chevyowner told me that I could do this "IF you wan't to check if your bootloader is unlocked, put the phone in fastboot mode and run "fastboot getvar secure" without parentheses
what that does is check the device security
yes is locked
no is unlocked"
I haven't been able to test it will tomorrow tgoufh

Drivers aren't installed then.
I had a phone that couldn't get into fastboot, R800at. I was able to get the unlock code from Sony's website, but being unable to get into fastboot meant I couldn't use it.
Power off the phone, hold the search button, and plug the usb into the computer. If the LED turns blue, then you are in fastboot mode and need to install the proper drivers. If you don't have a blue LED you can't use Sony's official unlock process - instead have to use the testpoint method.

Quick question, how do i unlock my bootloader via flashtool?
It should be fairly easy if you have the correct drivers installed... Just use either the plugin option or the icon that looks like a padlock... It will ask you to put it in flash mode... Once you put it in flash mode it will bring up menu box with 2 slots... One for your imei/meid & one for your unlock code.... Just put in your unlock code...hit unlock... It will tell you to put it in fastboot mode... The rest is completed by flashtool.

Hey all!
I am quite new here so yeah.. At first i post a thread about some questions but still i don't understand some.
1: How do i unlock my bootloader without SE detecting it as a unlocked bootloader. Some say use SETooL/Omnius but i am still not sure about that. I don't want SE to detect my phone's bootloader as unlock. I know if it does my warranty is as good as dead.
2: Flash? What is flash? More importantly how do i flash roms onto my LT18i? I need a clear step by step instructions. What do i need to have before flashing? ADB Drivers? PC Companion? Is there a video that can teach me how to flash roms/kernels clearly? Give me an example on how to flash using a rom that can be flashed on Xperia Arc S.
These things might be hard to answer as it is in every noobs mind. So please help me understand, these things. How? What is needed? Example? I need answers. It is hard to search for answers as i am busy with my school and i am having Common Test (Sort of an important Test that is counted in my Exams). I am willing to learn more about this Android development thing.
Thanks,

You can try using Wifi/3G/Edge
Have a Xperia Play and have been trying to root for the past week now!
I have used at least 7 different programs but none of them work.
Im afraid the problem is i cant get into fastboot mode and my blue light wont turn on.
If thats the problem is there a way to fix it?
And if its not what is the problem and can i fix it?

What I would do is flash back but at first check if your fastboot is actually not working.
Turn off the device and check it, take out the battery and put it back in then hold search button and plug in usb if you have a blue light then fastboot is ok.
You also need Android ADB drivers which you need to have the Android SDK to get them or if you have flashtool there is a drivers folder which is the simplest method to install ADB bridge.
Then using flashtool (if it worked) flashed the DoomLord Kernel, if it says you have no permission to do so then you need to unlock your bootloader.

I also need the link to the doom kernel which I might have and instructions on how to flash it.

You should first download flashtool. Then use flashtool to flash the verizon firmware. I will provide a link. Then enter flashmode by turning your phone off completely. Luckily you have flashtool so you do not need the Android Sdk. There should be a drivers folder in your flashtool and an executable inside that will install like a normal program. This contains all the drivers you will ever need.
On every time it installs one it will prompt you to install or not install jusf click install and you will be asked this about 20 times for each driver.

If I remember correctly, the xperia play 4g was R800at and not R800x. Well anyway you have to download the firmware for your phone. Then place it in the firmware folder inside the flashtool folder. This should be the correct firmware for your phone. http://www.mediafire.com/?qqvtl484nlz3gq0 just place the ftf in the firmware folder. Start flashtool, click flash, then choose flashmode. No buddy to get to cwm recovery you have to use an app called x-parts and download the apk from the xda site use v1. To get into recovery you use the volume d-rocker down (if you use the x-parts apk to install cwm recovery) and no Verizon doesn't allow bootloader to be unlocked for free you have to pay for the unlock idk where you got your information"interface-file" from.

Just pay for the bootloader unlock like I did. The R800x is requires a different procedure for the bootloader to be unlocked.
But Sony says the r800x is supported now and I got the unlock key and everything the only problem is that I got confused while following the steps because one of the files was missing. I also don't want to pay 20 dollars to unlock it when there is a free way. Does anyone know how to do it?

The only thing that was outdated was the location of adb for fastboot. Everything is is correct...if your on window 7 or 8, maybe vista(Haven't. Used in years so I'm sketchy on it) restart your computer/laptop and repeatedly tap F8, then go down to Disable driver signature or something along that line and press enter....then you should be able to find the boot interface file....I'll double check later on my computer on where I put it in the sdk...

Idk about all this folder/file modifying but I unlocked mine simply using these instructions (win 7 and possibly below) :
1)download omnius SE and install it
2) hold search key on your phone and plug in the USB the phone's led should turn blue. And the PC should fail to install drivers.
3)then click the start orb and type in the search box "device manager" without quotes and open it then find your device I believe its labeled "s1 boot device" but it may not it may be in the USB serial ports area
4) click your device and tell it to update drivers then pick manually update and just browse to the omnius folder and hit install, it will then install the drivers and bam...
5) now just follow Sony's guide to unlock the boot loader and you should be good..
6) you will need fast boot installed on your PC, just find it (it should be in C:/Android SDK/platform tools) and hold shift, right click and open command window here then just type the codes for the unlocking

Were you able to find which folder the boot interface file was placed in because i was finally able to install the drivers and i disabled the driver signature like you said but when i tried unlocking the boot loader it failed. I found fastboot under platform tools folder but i wasnt sure if that was the same thing.
I unlocked the boot loader and I'm assuming the phone automatically updated over night, because now it won't boot, only vibrates. I tried using the flashtool and even though it says it does it successfully, it still won't boot. I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1126358 referenced but the file it links to is not up. Can some one reup the file some where or give me some other advice?
Well does the led flash red 3 times?

I am pretty sure your phone can't update automatically:fingers-crossed: with Sony you have to accept the update.Try flashing ftf stock rom found hear http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1589399 this will bring you back to stock.
Hi just noticed you tried that! Follow the guides on this page http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/SE_Xperia_Play I have found them to be useful
Try to flash a kernal in fastboot then a rom, then if you want to go back to stock try that aftet.Get your phone stable first :fingers-crossed:

It only connects to my PC in flash mode. Pressing the search button doesn't do anything anymore :crying:

Whoops! No problem you can boot your phone into fastboot via flashtool/doomlord's fastboot via ADB you don't need to press search button for that.
