Tasker?
Via the XDA app for the HTC Inspire
Cyanogenmod 7 allows you to remap the search button but that requires you to flash a new rom.
Bump
Anyone?

Excluding Apps from Task Manager

I was wondering if it was possible to exclude apps from the task manager. For example i have widget locker, and i want to be able to click the "clear all" button without closing Widget Locker. How can i exclude this from closing?

I remember researching this awhile ago when I was on the 3g Vibrant, and the answer is NO. The stock tack manager is so interlaced with the tpuchwiz launcher (which BTW, did you know Touchwiz launcher is the only launcher out there that uses the SGS2's onboard GPU, when every other launcher is software driven) anyway to get back on point. It's so interlaced with Touchwiz its literally part of the launcher, while some third party task managers allow 'white' listing, the stock does not.

I don't understand why you want to clear all in your task manager. It doesn't actually save battery it hasn't been since eclair. I use widget locker and it doesn't even show up in the task manager. Unless I actually click the application to change the settings.

Multitask UI button (left button on your nav bar). Swipe away to close apps that behave. Long press and go to App Info to kill only if necessary. To get there manually go to Settings > Apps and swipe right to show all running.
