Excluding Apps from Task Manager - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I was wondering if it was possible to exclude apps from the task manager. For example i have widget locker, and i want to be able to click the "clear all" button without closing Widget Locker. How can i exclude this from closing?

I remember researching this awhile ago when I was on the 3g Vibrant, and the answer is NO. The stock tack manager is so interlaced with the tpuchwiz launcher (which BTW, did you know Touchwiz launcher is the only launcher out there that uses the SGS2's onboard GPU, when every other launcher is software driven) anyway to get back on point. It's so interlaced with Touchwiz its literally part of the launcher, while some third party task managers allow 'white' listing, the stock does not.

Dang....Thanks anyway though!

I don't understand why you want to clear all in your task manager. It doesn't actually save battery it hasn't been since eclair. I use widget locker and it doesn't even show up in the task manager. Unless I actually click the application to change the settings.

You have to just copy it to system/app with root explorer and reboot. I am pretty sure you have to use TWLauncher only as well but someone correct me if I am wrong on that.

Thanks kenny, I did exactly what you said and still no love....but I also have adw launcher. I like adw enough that it isn't worth changing just for the widget....sigh...

There is a thread that has TW apps you can flash....don't remember which of the top of my head. I have the program monitor itself and it works but no widget love with it.
On cm9....

Yeah I think the widget for that and a few other Samsung ones are tied to TWlauncher. There are other programs available from the market that have similiar widgets like Memory Booster Lite is the one I use.

I use smart launcher. no widget, very fast and it will automatically split the app into categories. try it.
Why not just freeze it using Titanium Backup?
Correct me if I'm wrong, but two launchers can't simultaneously run together can they? I mean do they run some background service or something?

They can run simultaneously but each time you click the home button it will ask you to choose. And once you choose your main launcher it will ask you to close the other one.

Is it safe to freeze stock keyboard?

Is it safe to freeze stock keyboard? Will it have any ill effects?

it's safe if you do it right.
first you need to install and activate a reliable replacement keyboard, set it as default, freeze the stock keyboard, and then reboot.
it is a good idea to install a different keyboard as system app, just in case something goes wrong at some point.

Don't freeze apps such as default launcher or keyboard. You'll always need them in case you run into problems with the 3rd party ones.
Sent from my GT-N7100 using xda app-developers app
yes you can until and unless you've got a working perfect Keyboard from play store .
I'm switching to the Google keyboard. Just hate the little icon in the notification bar.

Whats your favorite third party launcher

I was just trying to find a good third party launcher to start using. I'm on the collective ROM.

Try nova launcher. Its the fastest one I've used.
Sent from my SGH-I747M using Tapatalk
I agree with florad I use nova launcher and found it was the best and I've tried many other launcher. Lots of customization and love the ability to reduce the icon size because KitKat stock icons I find way to big and it feels light for a launcher and not power hungry! Give it a try
I'm using holo right now on the same ROM, I gave it a shot so I could change a few extra settings with xblast
