Hi guys just got my note 2 but i got some questions when i go to apps and go to proces he shows kinda 400mb used and 70 mb available is this normal and my note is very hot on the back camera side is this normal? And how do you update to newer firmware and i dont understand it comes with 2gb ram but only shows 500mb and 1 gb internal store capacity please need help especially why is the note hot as hell on the back camera side it it scares the hell outta me...
And after a while the screens turns white just like its overheating then i turn the phone of and let it cool down and turn it on then its normal but after 1 hour its turns white again
That is NOT normal. It's a phone, not a portable heater. I would definitely take it back ASAP.

My upgrade comes next month and I wanna hear from those who switched from the og note to the note 2. Was it worth it to you? How is the phone performance? How about development? I've been watching this forum closely and I look forward to any input you might have. Thanks in advance.

I went from the HTC Desire HD to the Samsung Galaxy SII, and now, to the Samsung Note II.
The size takes a bit getting used to. I'm still trying to use the back button with my left thumb, which just can't reach across. I have tiny hands. But other than that, I love the screen when I'm watching or reading something. The S-Pen adds a totally new dimension that I didn't expect before. I don't mean just the handwriting recognition or being able to get your cursor where you want. Being able to do screenshots, crop and annotate them is super useful, at least to me.
Aside from that, performance is what i'd expect from a brand new phone; everything is snappy and smooth. The battery lasts me the whole day (8am to when I sleep, 11pm or so?) rather than just half a day (have to charge before I leave work). I consider myself a moderate to high user: I've used 5gb out of 6gb of my quota (around 1gb for google reader alone), but most of it was for tethering.
The Samsung stock keyboard was surprisingly useful. They snuck in that word prediction feature from Swiftkey (well, i bought swiftkey from before) and it's finally took me away from the compact qwerty layout I've been using since the first Blackberry Pearl (2006).
Lots of little Samsung'isms all over the place. Little tilt motion things, not turning off when you're reading, keeping orientation when you lie down in bed while reading ... it's useful!
Things I'm not impressed with:
Not enough S-Pen specific apps. Not really Samsung's fault, I know they've been trying to motivate developers
Screen is too bright sometimes in the dark. I think it might be me not figuring out how to set it yet
Size. Both its strength and its weakness.
TouchWiz. Okay, this is personal preference for sure. But I replaced this with one of the many 3rd party launchers available, so it's okay.
Language Support, in particular East Asian language handwriting recognition support. Again, 3rd party. Most people won't need this, I'm guessing.
Not being able to save apps to the SD card. I don't know why, But I haven't been able to find the function. I only got the 16gb one, so I'm scared it's going to fill up.
That's all I can think of right now.
Download "screen filter" to solve the brightness problem. I use it every night and every morning. Regarding the apps2sd, well you can't without rooting. Some idiot at Google decided to remove that feature which is completely insane. I only reason to do this imo is because they (Google) are planning on releasing a console in th near future. A console which would probably not sell so well after we upgrade our just as powerful smartphones after 2 years and use them as a console instead. Whatever the reasons it is bad for us, bad for developers, bad for android and bad for sd card makers. The funny thing is that Samsung boasts about the expandable storage!!
I just recently switched myself and all I can say is wow! This phone is something else. I am really starting to love this phone. (coming from iP4s by the way) Its been a week now and I have no regrets at all. I still have a lot to learn about the full potential of the phone.
I do miss some of the simplicities of the iP4s IOS but just love the performance of this phone.

I came from the Note 1. And everything is better faster etc etc on the Note 2. On the Note 1 I had it rooted and custom ROM'd and on the Note 2 I have not felt the need to do any of that...yet. The battery is bananas...I got almost 5 hours screen time and 1 1/2 days stand by on a single charge...I also still had 25% left in the tank. That alone makes it an easy choice. The main reason I was doing the custom roms on the Note 1 was to kill some of the bloat and apps I didnt need to save battery life. With the Note 2 it doesnt seem needed.
I love everything about this damn phone. But I want everyone to share 5 things they love about the Note 2. I'll start.
1.5.5 inches of screen never gets old to me. This is perfect for anything you want to do on the phone.
2. Quad Core. Not a HUGE difference from dual core while navigating the os, but games have a direct benefit from it.
3.Removable Battery. Not that I need it cause our battery life is so awesome but I purchased 6 extra batterys off of eBay. How much you say? $25. Believe it.
4.MicroSD. My 64gb card combined with the 16gb internal makes about 73gb. That's shared space for apps, music, videos, pictures, and backups. I don't get why Google thinks 16gb is enough anymore. I wont be able to get another nexus if they put only 16gb in the next one. I know the Nexus 4s price point is sweet and everything but god dammit that's a flagship phone. And the 8gb nexus is a joke. What does that have out of the box? 5gb? Whew lol. That turned into a rant didn't it.
5. Gaming. Need for Speed, Vice City, Call of Duty, and PSX look stunning. Obviously in part to 1 and 2. But this is the main reason I never put my phone down
Extra Reason. I'm only mentioning this cause I came from the VZW Nexus. Battery life is amazing. I could do whatever I want and never be nervous about being stranded somewhere with a dead phone. No one likes that sh*t. With my nexus, I would have to literally underclock most of the day just to make it to 8 o clock. With the Note 2, 6 batterys, and great battery life to begin with, I have what I like to call "Mobile Supremacy ”.
Damn Kii keyboard. I meant 5. 10 or 5. Whichever lmao.
I'd turn that question around and ask what you don't. Because I wouldn't be able to give you an answer.
Sent from galaxy note 2, tablet in my pocket! ^_^
Yep, dumped my Nexus 4 for my Note 2 (T-Mo).
AOSP is neat, but the hardware just sucks. Not worth even the asking price. It's a simple little average phone. The Note 2 is the best phone on the market - this is a fact.
The title of this thread sounds like something you'd see on the iPhone forums.
I love the big double-D data cups because they are really fun to remove at night.
I just got a droid turbo 64gb ballistic nylon ..I am coming from a galaxy s3 and i was trying to choose between the 2 and thought maybe the note 4 might be too big but after getting home etc im having a bit of buyers remorse.. naked android is fine and all but im not really going to use the moto voice functions and the camera is meh.. the bigger note is a little imposing but if i can handle 5.2 on the turbo fine i figure 5.7 is fine as well .. i almost never 1handed use (im 6ft big hands anyways) and after seeing some s pen demos and camera shot im close to returning my turbo for a note 4... i would love some pros and cons of the note 4 and any experiences you guys have owning your note 4 thanks in advance
I would. The note 4 is a nice phone and I really like. I'm coming from a mdk S4. I had the same question as you for size. The size is perfect.
thanks my wife has an s5 and we have a galaxy tab and i bought her a gear 2 neo smartwatch for xmas i should have stayed in the family
Remember that you are in a note 4 forum so there will be some bias. I love the note. Came from the note 2. I have 0 regrets and I love the s pen. It is a game changer. Camera is pretty good. It is a larger phone but to me not too big. Although I will say I hope they don't go any bigger. One handed operation is not an issue for anyone because of the 1 quick 1 handed operation feature. All you do is swipe back and forth from the sides and it shrinks the whole screen to that side. And you can also adjust that screen. Bigger or smaller. I attached a picture but not sure how if it shows it.
Biggest deal breakers are no SD card and no battery. I love my 128gb SD card and with 5.0 allowing apps to save data to the SD card again makes it even better.
I will say that if you like to root it is not looking good. I would not get this phone on hopes that it will get root and unlocked bootloader. But to honest, I don't miss it at all. This is coming from someone who has jail broken/rooted every single phone.
Just my 2¢. Good luck.

this. i am rocking my note 4 with 160 gb of total space and 3 removable batteries. i am selling my nexus 6 which doesnt have sdcard or removable battery. dump the turbo man. even though note only has 16 mp camera i think the software is better therefore it takes better photos then the turbo. This is my perfect phone!
I came from the Droid Turbo Ballistic 64 gig and can say without a doubt the Note4 is a better device all around. The build quality is better, the screen is larger, extSD support and the camera is quicker. I'm 6ft with big hands too and prefer the larger phone. The Turbo is a nice phone but the lack of a extSD, removable battery and no reboot option from the power menu killed it for me. Both have no root for the retail but that isn't a issue for me, there are two other rooted S5's here in case I get bored. I had the Turbo for two weeks, the stock Android got really boring and the camera lag was horrible. Both cameras aren't the best with the stock app so I would suggest a 3rd party app like A Better Camera. I ended up purchasing the app but the free version was nearly just as good. To sum it up I'm happy with my decision to go back to Samsung and the Note4.
Ok guys i pulled the trigger.. I called Verizon and i got the last black note 4 they had in stock .. (at first she told me only white then hold on a few seconds and someone just cancelled their order) I don't even have to leave my home . The new note 4 is being mailed to me and i just have to put the turbo in the box and slap on a prepaid label and im all done and its only like $2 more a month .. thanks for the feedback and i look forward to sharing my stories with my note 4
Good choice

You will love it
I like droid turbo and where Motorola is going with their devices but...they're just not quite there yet imo. Note 4 is just a better phone all around if you don't mind touchwiz
I too started with the turbo ballistic backing 64 gig version. I wanted to love that phone but turned out that the note 4 was just a better choice for me. The turbo IMO is a sweet looking phone more so than my note 4 but the wow factor didn't seem to match up with the hype I've heard people talking about . don't get me wrong it's a very nice phone but after getting used to the size of the note 3 it just seemed like the turbo was tiny which it isn't but just felt that way. I also didn't like the fact that you couldn't pull the battery and no SD slot. I liked the note 3 I had but I love the note 4 so far. It's fast has a beautiful screen and battery lasts longer than I thought it would. And another big plus with me is that all of my other phones use the same size sim as the note 4 so I can switch phone anytime I want. If I would have kept the turbo then i could only use that one phone with the sim that it took. If Verizon still had the 30 day period maybe I would have been able to really test out the turbo but only having 2 weeks I went ahead and returned it for the 4 which turns out was right f decision. IMHO if you are not a phone junky, not someone who actually uses your phone all day, or actually if your not a person who is into Android enough to read this website.... Then the Turbo is the better phone. Especially if you've been an iPhone person and this is your first Android.
BUUUUT, if you know a little, and actually understand what touch wiz is comparabley, the the Note 4 is miles ahead.
Ignorance is bliss
I just got the note 4 yday, had to exchange it cause mine was defective. While waiting, I played with the turbo and was impressed. I like the heavy duty feel it has. Makes it feel less fragile than the note and I'm really hating touchwiz right now. Really debating on taking the turbo.
had a note 2 and have a note 3. i *just* got a turbo thinking the extra battery and more accurate gps/compass (you note 3 owners know what i mean) would be more important but I already have buyer's remorse.
as much as people bag on touchwiz, the added features are something i find extremely useful. quick toggles, lockscreen shortcuts. all the settings tiles. these things are not there on the turbo and with no root it won't be happening any time soon.
i thought i could move on, and i can't. i'll be putting in for an exchange tomorrow.
and, fwiw, the compass/gps doesn't seem much better than the note 3 and the battery life is certainly not that of a phone with 3900mAh on tap. totally disappointed. its a great phone, but it i thought it would be better, and it's not.
Here are some APPs & Useful Files from the iPhone S6 with NO removable battery & SD
Most likely the Note 5 will have a 4K display but I really do hope it still comes with a removable battery and SD Card slot...
if not... honestly, I will be out of the Note Series. If the S6 is a sign of things to come... (as it usually is) then we are in big trouble my friends... (if you think the same as I do)
Anyway... regarding this thread...

Take care everyone!
Lol love how you said iPhone s6. Because that is exactly what it is !! I could care less about the removable battery. it lasts me all day anyways. But no expandable storage ?? Cmon now! Sure I haven't even used half of my GBs. But Imagine if the s6, the most expensive model 128gb for over $1000. Now imagine the NOTE series. Since its always been $150-300 MORE. I love my note 4. And if Samsung doesn't get the BIG picture that android people really don't give a crap about materials. We care about the specs and what matters to US. IPhone people only care of how there phone looks. Even tho its sporting 2012 tech with 2015 architecture. The note 4 is perfect in terms of quality. Got a super durable gorgeous phone. And if t he new note 5 comes without an SD slot of removable battery. It BETTER, BETTER have something even better to accommodate for the loss
---------- Post added at 11:26 AM ---------- Previous post was at 11:25 AM ----------
Lol sad to say if they go that route the new note 5 will cost you $1000. The cheapest...$1300 the expensive. And if they do some crap like the edge... $1300-1600 FFFFFFD THAAAAAAAAATTT
I'll just stick with my N4 for a long time since I just bought my 128gb Samsung SD and with back ups and keeping a few roms in case I get bored as well as 2k videos I can fill 128 in a good amount of time so not being able to swap it out won't work but let's be reasonable here, I won't spend that much money on a 128gb phone as it will be well over $1000 I can't do 64gb anymore, that would be stepping back, and no the cloud won't work because we're I work there is no service, it's underground so I need hard storage. I'm sure there will be plenty of people who buy it but I also love to replace my battery every 6 months with a new one, then after a year switch back to the original one, keeps it lasting longer. So long story short, no, I'll won't get a closed phone without memory expansion and, and, removable battery.
I call it SI6 the Samsung iphone 6. Very disappointed
Trust me I need my micro SD too, But it wouldn't shock me at all if Note 5 doesn't have a micro SD card. Look how google removed users rights to have write access to external storage without root.
I will go back to blackberry and back to crack berry lol
I just won't update until they get the message. If they don't get it, then I will look to the other manufacturers. If everyone is going this route, then hello Apple...
And also gave write permissions back on 5.0 lolipop. {sd card}

I read Marshmallow update will allow the SD to become actual Internal Storage or External. It is supposed to have an option. I have MM on my 2013 Nexus 7 but no sd with that to test. ..but thats the word..
Am using a Note II with DN4 ROM which has all UI and app updates till Note 4. Have been using the phone since the past 3 years now. Have got bored off it now.
Was waiting for the Note 5 but Samsung guys screwed up by not having expandable memory slot and a removable battery (non negotiable for me) So, was thinking should I wait for another year for the next gen Note (which MAY have the said options) or should I settle down for a generation old Note 4. The downside I feel is I've already experienced the Note 4 features (which are hardware compatible anyways). Would the screen and snappier processor be worh it?
Thanks
Ive used the note 4 my cousin has.. Its basically the same but a little faster which is not noticeable on daily use. The camera is better for sure, but it is not a priority for me and definitely not worth that money. I can get a point and shoot camera for much less.
And i dont want the note 5 for similar reasons.
. First.. Its almost similar again. There's nothing new
Second and third..no expandable memory and no removable battery
Fourth..no ir blaster which was one thing i really wanted on my note 2.
Fifth: glass back..ill need to spend more on screen guards.
And that is why im going for the iphone this time. Ill always have the note 2 to test all the latest cyanogen mods and others.
Ok. No.. I'm now back to comparing s6 edge plus and the note 5.
I can live with the five things note 5 doesnt have.. but i wont be able to live with the limited stuff on apple.
You cant even download a file properly there.. wtf.
The otd pen drive costs 2500 bucks. It costs 50 bucks on the android.. woth an otg cable..
The camera is better. (I've seen almosr all the shootouts.. even tho the reviewers seem oddly apple sided)
The iphone 6s is so fragile (scratch and drop tests) i drop my phone all the time..
The battery life.
Do tell me what you went with. I think I'll wait for Diwali for prices to go down a bit.
