Hi. I bought the HTC One V on eBay - the person said it was on Virgin Mobile UK but that he wasn't sure
I'm looking to unlock this phone, so I can use it on my carrier (EE/Orange UK)
I've flashed CM10 and got all of that working, but want to revert to stock because I want to try a few things
So I've downloaded the UK RUU update for this phone, however do not want to flash it because
fastboot getvar cid
Returns
cid: HTC__001
which apparently is not UK
So I'm unsure of what RUU I need to install, I don't want a bricked device so I'm hoping someone can help?
Thanks,
Jack

i have desire SLCD S-off which i need to unroot for warranty purposes. i have tried RUU files from shipped roms website . both 2.29 WWE Ruu and .210 WWE Ruu .
on both im getting this Error 131 Customer ID error.
i dont get it. i bought factory unlocked HTC desire and it doesnt have and carrier branding. Nor did i use any gold card when i rooted my phone using unrevoked.....
any one have a clue how to unroot my phone?
hboot is 0.93 version
Edit : Turns out it was a Vodafone desire... used the RUU provided by EddyOs and its done.... thanks Alot to EddyOS
Can you still use your phone? If so, just create a goldcard now and rerun the ruu.

Where'd you get the phone and which ROM did you use?
EDIT: Try this one:
http://hotfile.com/dl/80036791/8a6c...5.09.05.30_2_release_143921_signed.exe.ht ml
It's the Asian RUU, unbranded but regional

i got it from a local store but i once put up a question on htc asia website (they ask for phone IMEI number) .... they sent me a mail saying my phone is UK version so i need to contact the customer services of htc uk. when i contacted them they replied
and its not carrier labelled ... i never had to make a gold card to root it in the first place
just tried the downgrade utility... it days i need goldcard.....
device CID is VODAP001.....
so i should just make a goldcard and install 2.10 Ruu WEE rom or do i need to look for some specific rom of some specific carrier?
also if i need to download any specific carrier branded RUU will it relock my phone to that carrier after flashing RUU? if so how to stop that.
thanks for your replies
That's a Vodafone handset, try this one:

Vodafone stopped branding the phone after the first FroYo update but it still have a Vodafone product code so you still need Vodafone RUUs

Can anyone tell me where i can find a rru for Rogers?
Hiya folks!
I unlocked my daughter Wildfire S hboot via HTC-Dev when it was first released and upgraded from 2.3.3 to 2.3.5 EU to get rid of the 3 bloatware on the original rom, I did not root at the time as it was still in its very infant stage and did not wish to give my daughter my Rooted Desire through bricking hers!
Now the time has come to root as she is constantly telling me of a space shortage...I know we've all been there..so thinking the Hboot was still unlocked I ran through HTC super tool 3 , tried a couple of times with no success so realized there must be something I've missed, I checked the hboot was still unlocked in the pink text I believe it was to find that it no longer states unlocked, locked or any extra text just,
Marvel PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.08.0000

So my question is what is the next step? can I unlock it again some how?, I've rooted and I rom hop constantly with my Desire but this phone is being a royal pain! So did the upgrade relock the Hboot? cheers in advance folks,
Android Version 2.3.5

Go to htcdev and follow instructions to unlock your bootloader.Once it's unlocked, you should see "UNLOCKED" at the top when you boot ur phone.
And then you can root the phone.

OK Ta I wondered if I had to do it again, I guess as I have already updated to 2.3.5 from the first time I can skip that part and precede to straight step 1 ?
Did you tried this? I had problem with rooting my wfs, I can't find script i used right now. I'll update this post if i will find it.
What happened is that the 2.3.5 update changed your HBOOT from the previous one.......Go to htcdev.com start the unlock process and when prompted to download an RUU........ just download the RUU with the software more than the one you are having..... in your case the Europe RUU and just follow the instructions thereafter.....
Right got 'ERROR 190 ROM IS NOT SUPPORTED' please upgrade to 2.13.401.3 to apply this RUU, can I use a different RUU csoulr66 other than EU?
Wish I'd done this in one hit rather than in parts! Thanks in advance all!!!
You're 100% sure that you grabbed proper RUU? According to error you get and htcdev it should be this:
HTC EU 2.13.401.3 PG7610000 - sry can't give you direct link because of forum limitation for users under 8 posts
have you made a goldcard????? Because you will need one to run an RUU

I have a unlocked phone but I never hear about goldcard, are you sure it's needed ?
A goldcard is used to debrand the CID. Without a goldcard, you cant install diags/downgrade/etc because the CID is branded with your carrier.
I had this problem originally, all you have to do is run a stock rom RUU (From the list supplied by football in the stickies) with a goldcard. Then go back to the HTC dev website and upgrade the hboot.

All done, I could not down load any of the links from 'footballs' thread, busy..no free slots etc , so I found a Spanish site and upgraded to 'Europe_2.13.401.3_Radio_47.23c.35.3037_7.54.39.28M_release_236989' then all worked as it should following the instructions on the HTC DEV site, rooted and running SENSELESS_2.3.5_jermzii_v.1.2, thanks all!!

If you have unlocked via HTCDev the this would have removed your CID in which case yes you should be able to flash the WWE RUU on a branded device.
If you have not unlocked and are still running stock then no it wont work.
Does HTCDev unlock remove CID? Unless it changed to 11111111 you still won't be able to flash an RUU AFAIK

It does indeed. It doesn't change it to 1111111 it completely removes it altogether.
I re locked the bootloader the other day and re-flashed the WWE RUU as im sending it back (screen flickering problem) and it worked with no issues.
Vodafone Australia
I am Vodafone Australia and unlocked my phone via HTCdev. I am also facing the same problem (screen flickering)and need to send it back. I have re-locked it. As you just said "I re locked the bootloader the other day and re-flashed the WWE RUU as im sending it back" can you please explain how did you re-flash the WWE RUU? steps or link?

You need to get the vodafone au ruu. General wwe releases will not work for you. Pretty sure the correct ruu is available in the dev section.
Can't link, posting from phone.

Stock RUU for 1.28 needed
Hi there
I have effectively killed my HTC one - I unlocked via htcdev and upgraded the recovery - fastboot shows the device id when running the command fastboot devices.
However I am now stuck in a boot loop where the phone only boots to hboot (following a failed boot.img flash) I have downgraded back to stock recovery and re locked but cant find the 1.28 RUU to recover the device (and I did try the RUU for 1.26 but it wouldnt install)
Once I updated te recovery i ran the fastboot boot boot.img command
This failed to progress past the 'htc quietly brilliant' flash screen.
I dont have the rom .zip saved on my internal memory on the phone - I was hoping to be able to push it to the /data/ partition however when I try this sdb returns no connected device.
Wonder if anyone can assist in either
a - returning to stock with a RUU for 1.28
or
b - advise how to flash the files I need onto the phone (it seems that the ROM isnt booting so I assume its from the point I install boot.img and beyond I need so help)
Unfortunately I cant get the phone to boot to copy files to the memory so need to work entirely in fastboot and adb (assuming adb wil recognise the handset)
Many thanks
Gurry

But relocking it puts it back so unless you were on HTC__001 you'd be back on the VODAP001 CID

Hi all,
can anyone help to explain how to back to stock rom like first purchase condition after using this ? as i bought this used hox already rooted with leedroid.
i want to compare original condition first before do rooting. cos when do charging in turn-off condition, it'll turn-on by itself twice (i turn it of twice too as i prefer to charge battery while phone shutdown)
the seller cant help as he got it from others too.
and also how to know my hox is TW, HK etc version ?
Please help.
thanks
ps: got how to lock to early condition, but dont how to find out which RUU is mine as i dont know from where it's being purchased.
what i can inform are:
- S-ON
- HBOOT: 0.96.0000
-baseband: 1.1204.105.14
-build number: 1.29.707.11 (from fastboot getvar version-main cmd)
not sure if above will change if rooted and installed custom rom.
There are a few posts, but since I just did this here goes.
1. Find out your CID from fastbooto commands.
2. Download correct ruu for CID
3. Relock bootloader via fastboot
4. Load ruu while in fastboot
.....shazam

I have a branded o2 Htc One x, can I just flash it with a ruu file from a genric model or do I have to still unlock the bootloader ect?
I don't really want to ruin the warranty.
Flashing a s3 was easy but seems alot more when it comes to this handset and so many threads and not sure which to follow.
Help!!

you need S-off to flash any ruu, if you unlock the bootloader, flash CWM you can flash a custom rom or just delete all the o2 bloatware but it'll still have the o2 CID

You need S-Off to get super CID to flash an RUU with a CID that does not match the CID your phone came with.
If you want to be able to flash any RUU (as opposed to a few particular RUUs) you need S-Off.
