[Q] Note 2 MHL / CWM 6 - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note II

Hey all
Just bought the MHL adopter. I had omega v9.1 installed on my note 2 and the MHL did not work with that. Then I installed stock ROM and MHL started to work.
Then I rooted my phone with cwm 6 and now when I connect MHL, I only get a notification HDMI connected but no image. Is there anyone here who is using MHL adopter with note 2 and his/her phone is rooted or has a custom ROM. Any help would be appreciated.

My infuse didnt work after 2.2 with the hdmi adapter lol.
I douvt its cwm6 but rather your rom is most likely the culprit. But you say you're on stock.
Can you try a different tv? Since hdmi is a handshake thing.

Alot of issues with the mhl adapter. I just went to th3 sprint store to see a friend and get info about my phone and found out alot of mhl adapters are knock offs. Some say samsung and come from china but they dont work and if u place the product next to the real deal product ya see there r several differences. Some try to save a buck but end up with a headache due to the knock off not working.lol go to your local dealer or samsung and b happy

Some people have issues with the port on the phone from being rough and shoving plug in b gentle and it will work fine and last. To make sure its not the phone itself go to a store and have em look at it its free.if nothing wrong with the port u need the right mhl cord .sprint has the wireless adapter for note ii to connect to television

So the problem is the root...

I'm rooted with a mhl adapter and it works. This may sound crazy but have you tried resetting the ROM counter using triangle away?

MHL cuts off the WIFI and Phone signal

hi.
i just got a MHL cable for my SGS2
when i plugged it to my tv, it cuts of the wifi and the phone signal... so i can't receive calls or surf the internet ...
i tried two different phones with different roms and different kernels and got the same result...
anyone had this problem and knows how to use MHL and have WIFI and phone signal?
thanks
What cable? Samsung's or generic?
Have you tried this on stock unrooted or rooted firmware?

i tried custom roms...
one of them is 2.3.5 and the other one is 2.3.4
the two devices are rooted
I have the OEM Samsung adapter and it used to make my phone do the same thing. I sold the phone ans ended up buying another one and the second phone works perfect with it.
I am running the leomar75 rom with the ragemod 1.1b kernel
so you say this is a problem with the device itself?
I also have a generic adapter but mine works for a few seconds and then blank.....not supported. sometimes it gives green screen on my tv. I've tried on stock and custom roms. If it's the phone than it should be addressed t Samsung.
update:
I have to put my phone in offline mode to be able to use it.....
i tried the same cable on other tv...
on the other tv the phone signal stayed on (and i even received a call without any problem) but i still had no WIFI...
maybe its important, but i tried the other tv away from home..
at my home the phone signal is weak all the time
i have a stock phone w/ generic POWERED mhl cable and the wifi cuts off when plugged in. wth?
still no fix for this issue?? i just got a MHL cable yesterday and is really annoying
I called samsung and they said that it is designed to cut off wifi. it may look like u r still connected, but u will be unable to surf the net. they said the reason this was done was to prevent fickering of the video if you were browsing the net or something.
so ,there's no hope than MHL work with wifi?

dont ask me. call samsung. just telling u what they told me. the way it is designed wifi is shut off when mhl cables are used.
would be interesting to see if anyone got wifi to work w/ mhl plugged in.

I have had WIFI working with MHL connected for months. I've could surf the web AND stream flash videos in a room with GPRS coverage ONLY (which rules out the "you were surfing through packet data" variable) while connected to my Samsung HD plasma with no problems.
So I certainly have no idea what your Sammy rep was talking about.
BTW, I'm using the official, korean spec MHL cables I got from ExportPrive. But I'm positive it should work the same with the international MHL cables.
Bought a non Samsung MHL cable today and it worked perfectly fine, it even worked when providing power via a microUSB cable connected from a spare USB socket in my nearby router.
Another user on a forum I frequent has similar issues with WiFi dropping and had this solution:

Fixed my mhl problem, I think it was a lack of power as its ok with my HP touchpad 2amp charger

So maybe try a different charger?
Another OcUK user
My MHL problem is fixed now, i tested it for 15 minutes and wifi and gsm signal were fine
I was just about to post it in this thread and then saw your post haha
IF anyone decides to mess about with chargers/adapters with higher currents then do it at your own risk and read up if its ok to do so with your phone etc..!
I try with my nokia N900 charger and still nothing, I'm using the official MHL cable

Rom/kernel issue?
I'm using a Nokia AC10X (1200ma charger) + original MHL cable + Siyah 2.1rc2 (at that time, now running 2.1.1) + VR2.4.2 (don't ask) = no connection issues what so ever while in HDMI out.
Either that or it's a hardware problem with the cable or your phone.

Thank you so much

Has anyone successfully been able to use an OTG cable with phone?

I think this feature is badass and want to use it. Broke my MacBook back in July and don't have the loot to replace it. So, I thought I would use my phone as my computer.....kinda like an experiment to see if I can use it for normal daily uses. Got the MHL cable a few weeks back it rocks.
So I ask if anyone has been able to use the OTG cable with this phone with stock or a custom ROM.
Thanks.

Can not connect my galaxy s2 to car radio

For some reason I can not connect my galaxy s2 to my car radio through the usb. Can someone help me out with this?
What kind of headunit is it? Are you sure it supports it? Most headunits only have ipod support sadly.

You actually got me curious to see if it would work with mine and it did not work with mine either. It says incompatible usb device but it does charge it. I have the Pioneer AVH p4300DVD. Its a shame that everything is geared toward Ipod/Iphone and they leave the real devices hanging out to dry!!
Well the thing is it actually worked once but for some reason it doesn't wanna do connect now. It is a kenwood mp345u deck. Cause I can connect usb drives and everything on it so I dont see why it wouldn't work with my phone.

Have you switched roms or made any modifications to your phone since the time it was working? If so I would look there that may be where the issue is.
I think if you search someone already found out our phone doesn't do audio over USB ....there was another thread with guy asking same thing

[Q] MHL troubleshoot

Got a cheap knockoff mhl. Ive been stock and only rooted. It worked completely fine for a good couple months until I stupidly accepted then MA7 update. It inevitably crashed while updating android software and now MHL to HDMI shows "HDMI connected" then instantaneously shows "HDMI disconnected" repeatedly, with no connection whatsoever. I flashed the MA7 firmware and modem, then flashed the deodexed version to reinstall the software and the cable still has the same results. Is there any way I can fix this without buying the samsung cable [ROMS, resets, cut and paste system files, etc]....?

I found that the only MHL adapter that works reliably is the one from Samsung. I've tried several others... Half don't work at all, and the other half are real buggy. I got the Samsung adapter and it works great.
* I'm Rick James, *****! *
I don't know if I've tried the MHL adapter on MA7. I'll try it later when I have more time.
I don't like the fact that your GN2 crashed when updating. It may be more prudent to do a wipe cache, davick, and system and reflash your firmware.
It sounds like you may have a short in your MHL setup--HDMI cable, adapter, etc. I've had it happen to me, and it was usually a loose connection somewhere between the MHL adapter, hdmi cable, or 5-11pin adapter.
I tested out the HML on my GN2 that is a MA7 deoxidized stock rom. It worked fine for me. Below is a video as proof.
I'm running Perseus kernel from March 3, Alpha 33. Beyond it's all mostly generic monoprice stuff--hml adapter, hdmi cable, 5-11pin microUSB adapter--and the USB charger and cable that came with the phone.

[Q] Galaxy Nexus Nexus MHL

Hi there, I bought an MHL cable from Ebay and was trying to connect the phone with TV. I have connected the power cord and did all the setup as required. The phone was charging, but the TV was just showing 'No Signal' as it was not detecting the phone. The adapter looks like a Chinese import at 8$. I tried many suggestion as people have posted here including the connection order of TV, Phone etc and but with no luck. Can someone please help me out here? GNexus is not officially launched in India, but S2 is. So do you think buying the original Samsung S2 adapter will work for Nexus? Thanks in advance!
I have no luck with MHL on this phone. Broken on 99% if not 100% of custom ROM and kernels. Every time I sought support for it I was just told to "use stock ROM and kernel"
Even on doing that my screen glitches and boom. Reboot. Bootloops until I unplug it. I wish you good luck and if you figure out how to get it working, shoot me a pm
