Hi Guys i have been using the Note 2 for quiet sometime now and after the latest update of 4.1.2 my SD card keeps remounting randomly.
My Note is not rooted.
Is anyone else facing the same issue?
Any help on this will be much appreciated.

Yeah i have, but im on android 4.1 only :/ havint seen a fix yet, hoping for a fix soon via OTA..
If it is the external sd card unmounting itself, is the card damaged?
I've tried all the stock roms, and not had that issue. It does not look like many others have either.
Try a different sd card and see if the problem goes away.

I had this problem with my s3.
I copied everything off the card and then formatted it (I used the format option on the phone).
The problem stopped after that and the card works now. I'm even using it in my Note2.

Happens to me after upgrading to 4.1.2 as well. I was forced to remove my sd card. It would drain battery in a few hours due to the rescanning of the sd card after each insertion.

I have had a similar issue with my sd card. My fix was a sd card back up and format. No issues since.
I also have this problem on 4.1.1 formatted using FAT32 through computer, problem reduced but i still get this at least twice a day

My unit is GT-N7105. I discover that About device -> Update states that Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available. What does it mean as it is a brand new unit and bought it yesterday? How can I update the future firmware? Thanks
Did you rooted your device? If so then that is the reason.
You can still download the updates from sammobile. Com and flash it via odin...
Fired From My FireDevice
No, I did not do and I bought it from electrcal shop with Samsung seal.
I had the same thing, what I realised is that the ext sd card that I put into the phone still had all the files from my s3 on it including super su etc. I removed the sd card and status went back to unmodified and I could do ota updates. Dunno if that's the case for you.

I can confirm I have the same problem with my note 2. It seems it is because of the memory card. I had a bRand new SanDisk 64Gb one and one day I had the same message. Unfortunately I formated my phone and my card just to find out it was because of the card. I don't know why it does that but I'm sure it is the card. May be more people should try and check and report?

I did use my mSD card of my SGS2 on this new unit. Once I removed it, it changes to Normal Status. How can I use a mSD card on Note 2? Do I need to format it by Note 2?
Does Rooting block access to OTA updates if the official ROM isn't changed?

I tried to format my 4 GB Sandisk mSD card to FAT32 file system but the problem persists. That is to say I cannot use the mSD socket so far.

Hello,
I have installed MIUI v5 ROM form the T-Mobile Galaxy Note 2 forum.
All went well after installation except that MIUI can't recognize my 64GB external SD card. That SD card is good because when I reverted to the older version of MIUI (3.1.25) it recognize the SD card. I have emailed the developer several times about this issue but he has not yet responded.
I also reflashed the ROM but get the same result, cant access the external SD card.
How can I fix this issue, any ideas?
Thank you.......
Why would you ask this here?!

I figured it out. I formatted the SD card from the phone but that did not make a difference, MIUI v5 still did not see the SD. So I use windows 7 and an application I downloaded from Cnet to do the FAT32 formatting. After formatting to FAT32, MIUI v5 see the SD card.
Does everything else work well in the ROM with the At&t model?

The only issues I have so far with the MIUI v5 ROM is that it locked up on me about three times, which I could not recreat, it happened randumly. I also get the message to insert my SIM card unlock code. I hit dismiss and the notice goes away, but comes back at randum (not too often). I also can't get attachments in my messages, but I can receive plain text messages. Otherwise the ROM is great.

I finally see someone working on MIUI. I have not used it in a long time since the previous developer stopped supporting it. I will check out the link and see what's new.
Thank you.
has anyone had this problem, each time after installing a custom rom after first boot my sd card needs to be reformatted. so far its happened with 3 32gig and 2 16gig after format all is well till next rom. i'm using twrp newest and md4. thanks
I've been using my same 32gb sandisk SD card for the last 4 months with no problem. Haven't had to reformat it once. Maybe your device is messed up?
I have a 64gb sandisk ultra and never had this problem.

I formatted mine coming from the Evo3D so I could get rid of my Epic and Evo3D crap. But I've put 4 ROMs on this phone since then and no reformat.
Edit: On TWRP 2.5.0.0 for all of this.
everytime I poweroff my phone it takes about a good 10 min to finally turn on , itll keep going from lockscreen to Tmobile 4g lte screen, is there something Im doing wrong
Not sure what kind of response you are expecting.
You have provided no info about your device, what status it is in, if you rooted, changed roms, did some modification etc...
How can anyone comment on your issue without any info other than to say that is not normal behavior.
Sorry, well it's a Tmobile Note 3, rooted and no roms, I have some apps transfered to my SD card, and that's about it really

So... did you try moving the apps back and see if that fixed the problem? There could be issues with that plus the phone does have a lot of internal storage.

10 minutes? How many apps do you have installed? I use Go Task Manager and remove as many boot apps from start-up as possible. Speeds things up.
Try removing your sd card. If that fixes it I recommend backing up the card, reformat it on the phone then restore your data

This worked, I moved all my things to the device and reformatted the SD card and now it doesn't take long to boot at all. Thanks!

Hi Guys,
I'm on Temasek's CM11, been using this Sony 64GB microSD card for over a year, and today, randomly while the phone was in use, I saw a message pop up, SD card unexpectedly unmounted. After that, it's not using up in the file systems, all the way down to the Recovery. I'm using TWRP.
I put the SD card in another Note 3 I have and everything seems to be fine on there, all the data is here.
So just posting here to make sure that is it safe to conclude that my SD card slot is fried?
And if so... What are my options... I have had the Note 3 for over a year and brought it off of Craigslist. It's unlocked and use it on AT&T...
So any ideas or advice friends? And yes, I pressed the SD card firmly in my Note 3 many times...
Thank you!
Anyone guys?
have you tried a different sd card? Also is your phone rooted if so try to access it in recovery. if so then something in the system messed up and a restart of your phone could fix it or a new rom. good luck hope it's not fried :-\

Thanks bud for your response! Yes, another sd doesn't show up in the phone, but works in another phone. And no, Recovery does not pick it up either .
Looking to move to another ROM, want to try Android 5.0, but really want to make sure I can come back to KK if I want to. The fact that sd is not showing up in recovery is really discouraging, but also, there are no signs of sd card slot being fried either like a smell or anything.
Please keep responding folks, if you have any ideas! Thank you!
Your using CM11 killed the sdcard slot in your Note 3. No use crying after spilled milk. Stick to stock rom next time.
