[Q] Not entering into rom, stucked in boot animation - HTC Wildfire S

Im having another wildfire s... I installed MIUI ICS on it and worked fine for a while... some days later when I restarted phone It stucked in boot animation... boot animation is animating and not entering the rom.. even im getting the soft key lights starts illuminating, and sudden maximum brightness and single vibration... Im getting vibration on when touching the lower portion of the phone.. that is little away from the soft keys.... But not entering the rom ? so i flashed Paranoid android ICS same problem again.... Dont know whats the problem... please help

You did wipe data before flashing right?
Are you flashing anything else along with the ROM?
Sent from my bowl of jelly!

yes wiped data... I installed int2ext+ with it... But it works fine for the first time... after sometime when i restart the problem occurs... but i tried with wildchild rom(including int2ext+) and works fine even after several restarts by me... But I cannot install apps on wildchild.. attempting to install apks makes the rom to restart itself (from boot screen directly)... the I flashed the rom without int2ext+ script everything works fine... no problem at all..
I think it because of memory card issue... what do you think ?

Personally, I'm not a fan of these kind of scripts, you lose your apps everytime you update your ROM. I prefer s2e. It works on all cyanogenmod based ROMs (including miui) and I have been using it since I first rooted my phone and installed cm7, 1 year ago (exactly).
Could you tell me details of you sd card? Partitions, sizes, class, etc?
Sent from my bowl of jelly!

ext2 partition, 212 mb, class 4....

You should use ext4. Ext2 works fine upto gingerbread, but not above that. And if you use a data2sd script, class 4 is very low. With s2e, don't move your app data. And also remember that your phone will get stuck again if you use s2e with ext2. And isn't 212MB kinda small? The internal storage of the wfs is 150MB..
Sent from my bowl of jelly!

yes... you are correct... thats my friend's WFS... in mine Im using 16gb class 10 card,.. 400 mb ext2 partition with int2ext+ script with PA ICS... working fine... I will give a try using ext4 on his mobile... his card is only 2 gb.. so only created 212mb... is S2E only works with cm7 ???

Which Sense ROM boots fastest and is the most stable?

Hi there,
I've been using Froyo 2.2 for some time but had some SD Card issues (Unexpected SD Card removal) and decided to check if flashing a new ROM will do any good. I've installed Cyanogen Mod 7 but after using it for half a day I wanted stock Sense back so flashed AuraxTSense v8.3. It looks nice, works quite fast at the beginning (and not knowing why it becomes slower after some time - observed during mass sms deletion) but boots ~7 mins - that's way tooooo long. Which one should I try next? Or maybe there is something wrong I've done while flashing? Wiped everything but dalvik before flashing.
LeeDroid's i believe is the best sense rom.

Boots 7 MINS?
For the first time or always?
Because if you install anew ROM, it will take some time to rebulid the cache and get ready, so 7 mins at the first boot is normal.
But if it boots 7 mins always, you've done something wrong.
Also LeeDroid is fast. Boots up very quickly - at least for me it did.
Indeed it boots slower than Leedroid, but not 7 minutes. Both are good ROMs, but the current (and some of the previous) version of ROM has some memory leaks reported from some users including me. I switched to Aura in hope to find remedy for this, and been good so far.
Also both have issues with the Internet app, googling freezes the browser and it force closes itself after a minute.

yeah, it was first boot, other took something like 3-4 minutes, and that's still too long :/
what if my Desire is S-On even if I have rooted it with Unrevoked? also, Hboot is 0.93. does it make any difference when trying to flash different roms?
EDIT:
ok, trying to flash LeeDroid 2.3d A2SD, will see how long will it take.
EDIT2:
16 mins of first boot, keep fingers crossed for my problems with unexpected SD removal
I've flashed LeeDroid 2.3d A2SD for the second time and there's no A2SD actually!! or I'am so tired that I can't find settings to force apps to install in SD. all apps install in internal storage and only some can be moved to SD... sooooooo annoying, it's 3:50 am here and I am so fuc*ing tired but have to have phone fully working today :/ aaaaargh!!!!
ReflexTSense HD is pretty nice and fast
got it on SD too so I'll probably try it now as AuraxTSense had A2SD brilliantly working.
How do you inspect if a2sd is working? Coz I think u r doing it wrong. Install Quick system info and check what it says under a2sd storage and if it slowly decreases when you install apps, which means it is working. You don't have to set default install location anywhere, the script does that for you.
What you are referring to here, is Froyo's built-in a2sd which requires the app to be optimized for app2sd, that's why only some of your apps seem to be on the SD card. Furthermore, it will transfer the apps to FAT32 partition, that you don't want for it to do since Android first loads apps which need to be loaded at startup, and afterwards it mounts the SD card, which will lead to some apps failing to start after boot.
a2sd tricks the phone into thinking that ext partition is it's internal memory. Froyo app2sd != a2sd script, don't confuse those two, they are not the same.

Apps2sd is working perfect in leedroid. Your reading is what fails.

with regard to first boot im always pleasantly surprised with AOSP roms esp Oxygen and Gingervillain ...they boot very fast and have gprs configured and working from the very beginning !
GV booted really fast for me.
stability is another issue
oops sorry - i read the title of the thread properly now....you meant sense roms....please ignore
leedroid roms do not take too long to boot. ap2sd feature work 100 percent..i guess the no ap2sd rom would boot up faster than the one with.
starburst is the best so far av got 700mb internal memory and rom is super fast
ok guys, it was my mistake (or rather lack of knowledge), so I'm coming back to LeeDroid. but will try No-A2SD first because I think those SD Card issues are not gone so moving Dalvik to SD would be risky.

[Q] cant receive calls ISC 4.0.3. and memory problem

so i made s-off and installed clockwork recovery touch and then i installed ISC 4.0.3.
but problem is when people call me i cant receive calls. when friends complained i tried and i just hangs up by it self. i dont even get notification and person who is calling me just hears hang up sound. not even one ring.
dose anyone has same problem and what should i do?
second problem is with memory.
i made partitions with clockwork recovery and installed it with terminal but when i try to install any app i get insufficient storage error even so in titanuim backup everything is more then free
have any advice what to do?
please. it kinda urgent!
The ics roms are beta as far as I know, so you could be having problems with a specific Rom. Would be good to ask in that thread.
As for memory, are you sure you made a proper ext partition when you installed a Rom and looking at internal storage, not just as storage?

well since my mobile stopped working cos rom crashed (miui) i had to do everything from the beginning. so i wiped everything and made partition with recovery so i dont think i made mistake while partitioning.
as far as looking which storage... well sd card is empty and i dont have any apps installed (only those which come with rom) so trust me... it's all empty. i made screenshots but i cant post outside links yet.
Switch your ROM
ICS ROMs are experimental, if you want your phone to be every day phone better switch to AOSP Built ROM's like CM7, they are more reliable then anyother ROM available.
I too have tried dozen of ROM's the stablest of them are those who don't use EXT partition of SD card and thus they should be your first choice if you want stability,
I would suggest - CyanogenMod 7.1
I see. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you did anything wrong, but the ics roms are beta stage. I have only been able to get the tiny ics Rom to boot and it was too laggy to try to call. The one for all hboot did not work too. As above, cyanogen is a good option for close to stock android. Theres also roms that are skinned to look like ics that work super fast. Hope you solve your problem of not being able to call, this is a phone afterall lol

thx guys!!
i will try cm7.1 then.
cos after whole week of trying to get it work i just dont have enough will to continue. and i really need my phone working asap
SOLVED.
all i had to do is partition my ext3 to ext4
lol. well i also changed recovery from clockworkmod touch to amon ra.
and with amon ra i wiped everything and formated ext. i also used smaller ext. from 2048 to 700 and something.
then i partition from ext3 to ext4 and installed isc 4.0.4. and now everything is working.
as for calls... will see if it happens again.

[Q] Question about Slim ICS for Desire [4.0.4] [based on Beta 0.9 by Sandvold]

I installed the slim ICS for Desire [4.0.4] [based on Beta 0.6 by Sandvold] with cm7r2 hboot, dalvik2sd, 1 Gb ext3 partition. It's smooth and fast. Original Sandvold's ROM is already very nice but I wanted to see if Suiller's version would be even nicer.
My problem is that every boot lasts almost 3 minutes (2 minutes on splash screen and 1 minute on boot animation).
I wiped everything, formatted everything with Clockworkmod, reformatted the sdcard with Windows (FAT32) and resinstalled the ROM twice. Same result.
Do other people have the same issue? Where can this problem come from? Should I try to reformat the ext partition (with Linux)?
2nd question
I have another problem: although synchronisation is active (and worked perfectly on the original ROM), data isn't synchronised: for example, I don't get GMail notifications, until I open GMail and this force synchronisation. Did I miss something?

Why did you format SD with Windows ? Why not with CWM or 4EXT, directly in recovery mode and verify Zipalign ?
The issue could be there...
Merci for your answer.

Well, first I formatted with Clockworkmod but this wasn't enough, I tried Windows...
How should I use Zipalign in my case?
Don't understand why this is not enough ?
I use to format my SD directly in recovery and after, zipalign the partitions, generally without any problem. Then restore backup onto the Fat32 partition with the ROM and launch the install...

Two method to use to format and partition sdcards for ext partition
1. 4ext recovery
2. Gparted via windows.
I find clockworkmod unreliable compared to 4ext recovery.
via xda app
Thanks for your advices. I used Windows to format the FAT32 partition only. The ext3 partition has been formatted with CWM.
Since my question I reinstalled original Sandvold's and I have the same very long boot (about 3 minutes until SIM unlock screen).
Could you please tell me ho long it takes for you? What can have an impact on the duration: number of applications (150 apps)? bootanimation?
Thanks for helping

It takes about 15 mins for me to get through first boot. But that's because I was using a2sd and have around 90 apps.

it all deppends if u done things right before i do some upgrade i read very well then i go next step this rom is still beta, htc desire is little slow for ics 4.0.4 as i been testing it its laggy and 4ext recovery it is recommended if possible with sandisc brand of microsd first boot takes a while if second or third boot take 5 mins it is not normal u should discuss this problem on the forum field where u downloaded it from
peace take care, if u want good, stable, fast rom use coolexes this i have on my signature p.s 4ext recovery is obligative required

I witch my recovery to 4EXT and recreated the partitions with it. Now I am on last version (0.9). I like the slim version very much and it works very well for me.
However, at every boot, it still takes a very long time to get the lockscreen: 1m55s on the splash screen and then 55s on the boot animation.
What is weird is that I don't have this issue with the "fat" Sandvold version
How long does it take for you?
Thanks for answering.
If someone who can could post the question on the suiller official thread I would appreciate very much. Thanks.
Another question about CPU mod
Following the latest posts on Sandvold's thread, could Suiller please confirm that the min/max CPU values set in 98desire are correct?
OK, I just read suiller's answer in his thread about a similar question
One more question
Since 0.9 version, even with today's latest suiller's version, my home button doesn't behave normally. Sometimes it's unresponsive. With long pression it doesn't display running apps anymore
Missing Google Talk
Hi, very nice rom. But i'm missing Google Talk. Installing the apk from Sandvolds rom didn't work. Anybody an idea?

[Q] Desire "reboots" when installing Apps

Hello guys!
First of all I would like to thank everyone who participates at XDA Developers. Incredible Job!
Since a few weeks I'm having problems with my HTC Desire using several ROMs.
I've been using Mildwild 3.2 since a few months and it went like a charm, so there was actually no need for me to change it. But then Mildwild 4.0 was released and for some reason I thought it might be a good idea to update my Desire to the latest Version.
I took my AData 16GB Class 10 SD Card and used GParted to partition the Card like it was supposed to be. 1GB Ext3. But when I installed Mildwild 4.0 I always had the same problem that when installing Apps the phone just "rebooted".. I'm using quotation marks, as it does not completely reboot, but instead only shows the "Mildwild" Logo (not the green HTC text on white background). The app is not installed. When i completely reboot the phone it is most likely to happen, that i can install the app without any problem.
As I did not find any solution to this and Mildwild started working on an ICS ROM i decided to switch to a different ROM that i already experienced a few months ago (at leat its predecessor) - Redux2 ZM 4.4. As I always thought that the problem is caused by my SD Card i decided to buy 4EXT Recovery from market and clean up everything before installing it. I formated everything /boot, /sdcard/, etc. - everything! And repartitioned the SD Card with 1GB Ext3 and 15GB Fat32. After installing Thalamus r4 kernel and redux2 everything has been restored from google servers like a charm, but for some reason some apps could not be downloaded. When I tried to install them manually after the automatic download finished.. guess what happened? The phone rebooted with the "redux" animation..
I actually dont have any idea anymore, what the reason could actually be. Maybe you can help me with my problem, as i just want to use a stable ROM on my beloved desire.
Thx in advance and sorry if i didnt find a thread that already discusses this problem!
i suggest you unstall some apps, because i've gone through this problem. It happens when there was a little space left.
Well, it says 130 MB left on internal storage
Same problem - no solution yet
Hi - I have also been having the same problem for the last 3 or so days. However, I am on an HTC Desire using LeeDroid ROM - so it would seem that this problem is not dependent on the ROM. Would be very grateful for a solution. This is starting to drive me nuts.
Im still struggelin with the problem. I thought it might be caused be a corrupted partition table? The idea with low space might also be the problem. Actually there are like 110 MB free whenever i look it up, but there might be peaks where it is lot less.. seen 40mb space left already. But why is this possible anyway? Thought this is the reason i have a sdext partition..

Still struggling..
Me too. Just out of interest, are you running wavesecure? Long shot, but I was wondering if this is somehow connected. Nasty piece of software!
What is wavesecure?

ok, i just wiped everything, formatted everything, repartitioned everything (1 gb ext4), flashed stock hboot, wiped everything again, flashed cm7r2 hboot, wiped everything again, flashed mildwild 4.0, flashed kernel r4.. booted once, set SD-EXT to active, rebooted, set sd-ext to default installation location, rebooted again.. now apps are downloading from the google servers and everything seems to work like a charm.. no "reboots" which i had the last few weeks.. ill keep u up to date
Sry for bringing this thread up again, but looks like I'm having the same problem as mentioned in the first post. Almost everytime I try to update or download new application, phone does the same as thread author described.
I'm on stock HBOOT if it means anything, Mildwild 4.8 based on Oxygen. Do I have to update HBOOT to fix this or is there another solution ?

Changing hboot doesn't help.
Just do what the OP did. Wipe everything, repartition your sd-card, and then see what happens.
I'll give it a try, I see Nobizzle did flash cm7r2 hboot so that is the reason I asked that. Nevermind, I'll stick with stock and report result after I finish.

Keeps rebooting, whatever ROM I use...

Hello,
my Desire just keeps rebooting, only 5-60 seconds after it's started. I have been using "VJ CM10.1 Jelly Bean 4.2.2 - v4.7" for some month, and just today the phone just reboots. Tried everything; full wipe, then updated to latest v5.3, no change. Since then I've gone thru all kinds om ROMs; good old Oxygen, CM7, MildWild, you name it..
What the freak has happend?! I mean; it's the same with every rom! And I had done nothing to my phone since yesterday, this just started this morning and it's driving me crazy!! Gotta have a phone, you know..
Please help!
If its a pvt1 model, it may be a mother board issue.

yh i agree, same happened to me before using a sandisk sdcard, all roms kept on freezing/rebooting so got a new sdcard and all was fine again.
Ok, got a Pvt3. So that should not be the problem. Also got a EXT partition, but wouldn't it be strange that this problem occurs now, when I have used the same sd card, ext partition table, ROM (+ different ones), etc..?
Well, I did a few more full wipe's and all that and what's not, then flashed the latest VJ CM 10 v5.3 again, and for some reason the phone's been stable now for 1,5 hours!! Just crossing my fingers here now, that it keeps this way...
Thanks for all the help! I'll write back if things turn bad again!

iv seen recently some pvt3 models overheating aswell. it also could be ur sdcard coz when my phone started rebooting i re flashed the rom, tried different roms, partitioned my sdcard again but nothing, as soon as i put a new one in, the phone worked perfect. Sometimes sdcards just go bad and for no reason.
