Hey people
so I switched between some ROMs the last month and cant really decide on which one to stay...
the perfect match would be a smart combination of some...
for example:
I much use the SWIPE Android AOSP Keyboard on CM10,1 that allows me to use SWIPE in hebrew which i use frequently. Its the only ROM where I found this till now.
But in CM10.1 is navbar customization missing, for example i like to use the kill app function on long press the back button which can be found on Xylon or XenonHD.
So the question is if i can copy the CM10.1 Keyboard to Xylon/XenonHD - or the kill app on long press function into CM10.1
thank you
Use a 4.2 keyboard apk with Xylon/Xenon.
I dont get it. I am on 4.2.1 and the original android Keyboard apk doesnt allow SWIPE in hebrew. It's a CM10.1 mod or something like this.
Would backing up the keyboard with Titanium Backup do the job? Or would I just keeping getting Errors?
You can try that. Worst case scenario you just un install it with TB.
I am not running CM currently to verify this, but there is an option for "Kill App Back Button" in developers options in my current ROM.

I realize that the Android OS has not had a Screen Capture ability built in, however some mods and ROMs have installed/created a way to get Screen Caps by pressing the Power/Lock and Home button to get them.
I am rooted and on the latest release of the OTA 2.3.4, but I wanted to know if there was a way to install/enable the screen shot abilitly like in previous ROMs I used.
Kind of like how I installed/updated the QuickSettings control in the notifications pull down - I was hoping there was an install package to enable this screen shot ability.
Thanks!

Well there is always market apps that are capable of this. Otherwise there isn't any flashable mods that will give you this function. This mod is a mod that must be baked into a rom before it is installed. Requires a certain apk, build.prop edit, a certain lib and the android.policy.jar must be capable of this function.
I use and recommend Shooter.

I recommend Drocap2
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.gmail.nagamatu.drocap2
I used it in the past with rom that didn't had the screenshot mod and it work perfect
Sent From My Optimized HTC Incredibly Dinc
Get a CM7 nightly, it has the screen cap feature built into the power screen. Or get ShootMe. Both work
Sent from my Droid Incredible running some random CM7 nightly.
Thanks Everyone, appreciate the feedback.
I didnt want to use one of the other ROMs right now, I just went back to the OTA Rooted ROM that was posted a few days ago and figured I would wait it out until some of the ROMs were rebuilt with the new OTA release and became stable.
Thanks again for the responses!
Hello everyone, long time forum creeper, first time poster
Anyway, I'm running AOKP JB on my Sprint GS3, and I've noticed that, through a program I bought on the market, "GMD Gesture Control" It's actually possible to invoke the GB version of the Recent Application Dialogue, instead of the ICS and forward version which shows screenshots of the open apps in a list. I've never actually liked the new list, as you can see all the icons in the old dialogue, instead of scrolling through a list for what you want to find. I've just always been really annoyed that google sacrificed functionality for style. So what I was wondering was if it was possible to bind this, since it is apparently still active, but dormant in 4.1.1, to the hold down the home button action, as GMD Gesture Control really kills the battery. There had actually been an option for this in the ICS version of AOKP that I had used on my Epic 4G, followed by my Epic 4G touch, and I LOVED it. Unfortunately they have yet to merge this functionality in to their JB builds of AOKP. If anyone could help me with this I would really appreciate it, been looking for a way to do this forever! Thanks!
Hello, I created this 2 apps to add copy and paste buttons to the nabvar...
What this app does is to simulate a keypress from a service when button is pressed....
Concretely sends KeyEvent.ACTION_DOWN for CTRL_LEFT(holds that key pressed), then injects C or V KeyCode event and finally it sends KeyEvent.ACTION_UP for CTRL key(releases that key).
However, not all apps are compatible with CTRL key, so this wont work properly with these apps
This app has been tried on Xylon ROM but also it SHOULD work on AOKP and derivates.
**THIS APP DOES NOT REQUIRE ROOT**
Install like a normal APK

PASTE: https://www.dropbox.com/s/clxj83sqg76lkof/NavbarPaste_signed.apk

MORE FUNCTIONS ADDED!!!
To use this app you must sign with system signature, which can be find in its repositories

Here is the source code!

so will it work on non root stock rom?
Re: [MOD/APP][AOKP] COPY/PASTE buttons in NAVIGATION BAR!!! (Root & NON Root)
No, it doesn't work for non rooted. It installs and goes to widgets and put it on the screen and it says not installed when clicked. Plus, non rooted wouldn't be able to add those to the launcher. MAYBE 3rd party but I don't wanna do all that..

That's what I meant, the navbar. Not launcher.. But I don't know how to make it work.

You can see in screenshots, go to settings > UI settings > navbar settings (Depends on your rom) and add new icon> custom application... it should appear there

Hi.
Can you make similar buttons but with different functions?
I would like to hide navbar and use aokp pie instead but I need few buttons.
Menu
Back
Home
Recent apps
And if this is possible - forward buttons (for Internet browser)

Sorry, i am a bitb busy for now with other projects(see my signature), but i will see if i can...
Maybe i will do it in the next hours, i am at the gym right now
Well its done... It can emulate back home menu search play/pause skip track power button and camera button
This is looking really cool. I love aokp nav bar mods and this seems quite similar.
Is there a function in there for "last app"? That's probably my favorite thing to have on the nav bar.

Thanks for trying but buttons doesn't work.
Every time I press added button I'm getting message "unfortunately app stopped"
I'm running 19feb unofficial aokp by bigxie on n4

It said in op... You must sign apk with system signature and install as system app... There are some tutorials out there
Yep
My bad
Tried to find some info hot to sign this app as system app but can't find simple way.
What kind of files do you need to make this app working in AOKP by bigxie?

For example, for xylon rom you have to use these platform.pk8 and platform.x509.pk8... You get them here
https://github.com/XYAOSP/android_build/tree/jb-mr1/target/product/security
To sign you can use a program called "apk signer" (i think)
Hello There
I just wanted to know, how can i add softkeys to my at&t s3 i747 like nexus devices. my bottom keys stopped working after a fall & all that works is HOME button neither MENU or BACK button lightup or work.
Searched this forum a lot found this line "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" to add to build.prop but whenever i did that the phone just keeps restarting with every rom that included stock, aosp, cm11 & other derivatives.
Good old captivate used to have this option with CM9 but i cant find an option to enable it anywhere. So im here to ask if there's any module to get those softkeys.
Tried all apps from playstore nothing seems to work.
Nothing can be done???
Self BUMP!

The "qemu.hw.etc..." should work fine as long as you save correctly and reboot after. If you're willing to use 4.3, use an AOKP ROM like Task650's, PAC, or Paranoid Android which comes with a persistent navigation bar option if I'm not mistaken.

Well hello Lads and Gents,
I've been using the PACman ROM, which unfortunately hasn't been updated for a year, for a long time and I was amazed by the variety of functions available in this All-in-One ROM! But a weird bug in the ParanoidAndroid options (will talk about it later) annoyed me, so Mustaavalkosta's CM11 release got my attention.
I have to say that KitKat is pretty cool! But for some odd reason, my Google Calendar isn't syncing at all, the extended desktop feature doesn't change a thing, Trebuchet went full retard so I had to delete and replace it with a version designed for non-rooted phones, random freezes, etc. (will add more when I find more)
Nevertheless CM11 features nice data protection options and other little things that I didn't have in the PACman ROM (as it's JellyBean), while PACman ROM had nice features I don't have in CM11...
So my core question is: Is there a way to install AOKP and PA features in CM11? I really loved Pie and the notification bar customization (PA) was really cool too, even though it didn't work for me. I'd appreciate any hints on how to add new features (from other ROMs) on my phone without f*cking it up.
Also, is over the air updating possible for the nightlies?
And about that weird ParanoidAndroid notification bar customization bug: The problem was that the scaling of the settings were wrong. To be able to access the field where the color is set, I had to turn my phone to landscape mode. But when I did that the color palette which opened had its save button outside of the screen, no way to scroll. If I turned it back into portrait mode, the dialogue simply disappeared! I tried everything to fix it but I had no chance. So I've been unable to change any of the notification bar settings for ANY app.
Thanks in advance!

You could either build your own ROM with the features you want, or find replacement apps. There's not really a drag-and-drop method for adding new features.

So that means I have to learn ROM coding? Oh lord... I thought there might be an easier way to bypass just this solution.
