[Q] screen protector - Galaxy Note II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys ordered note 2 for 400 euro but i am looking for a good screen protector any got some tips and is t glass available for the note

They have those more expensive ones that are made of glass. But then no spen.
Those invisible shields like zagg or other similar companies are ok. I don't like them. They usually turn yellow little by little and they peel off slowly. Also it's a wet installation.
I usually go by way of those cheap screen protectors off ebay. A pack of 6 for a couple of dollars. If it ever scratches then I just replace it. I hardly replace it. It has the benefit of having to not be perfect. I used 3 protectors today because I always get a tiny piece of dust in it or something like that. So if I had a zagg then I wouldn't have seen it until too late. And if it's glass then it would be ok...
My vote are the cheap screen protector off eBay.

i saw t glas from spigen just 2 more days then its available but are you trying to say that i cant use the s pen on t glass

I believe you can't. I could be wrong. I think I saw that someone said that it made the glass "too thick" and the phone didn't know it was tapping on the screen. I'd check the forums here to see if that's correct.

Don't waste money on...

Expensive glass screen protectors like glassTr or whatever else. I got one of the 8$ tempered glass screen protectors off eBay and. Have been rocking it about a month now. Thing looks beautiful and is tempered and oleophobic or whatever it's called. Went on perfect the first time and I love the feel if the glass. Just like the original screen. Have had zero issues with touch sensitivity or anything

I agree. Spent $5.00 from ebay and about 3 weeks shipping from China. I even purchased another one just case .
Can you post some ebay links?
John.
I'm sure these glass protectors look good initially, but what I'd be interested in seeing is how they hold up long term after several months. My understanding is some of the cheaper glass protectors have issues lifting at the edges due to poorly made adhesive. I have an iLoome incoming and I'm worried even it will have lifting issues.
This seems to be the cheapest seller currently. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Perfect-Qua...l_Phone_Screen_Protectors&hash=item51b23a2b92

I actually had a spigen glass screen protector before , removed it due to bad installation and bought a 8$ one . Found to be exactly the same. no issues what so ever.
Spigen and mime or w.e they are , are all ripoffs. just buy a aftermarket one. They also replace it for free if its not delivered to you in pristine condition.

Much sure you are applying in a relatively dust free area. Bubbles that won't come out are usually dust getting stuck between the screen and the protector. The glass protectors are less likely to get bubbles from non dust issues. I bought a MIME and while expensive at 25 bucks, it came with a tack sheet that removes any dust that you might not see.
If the cheap glass protectors work for you, great. 25 bucks is not a lot to spend on a 600+ phone in my opinion.

That is not a glass screen protector. I have had them. They are made of plastic. If you can get them on without bubbles, they work great but there is a stickiness to them that some like, I do not, so I wanted a real glass protector.

I like the water trick. Clean it up real good with the provided cleaning cloth and make sure its 100% dry. Then mist the screen with a spray bottle and apply the screen protector. Use the card to work out bubbles. Works every time.

I agree to a point. If even the smallest dust particle gets on the screen after cleaning it, you will get a bubble that is difficult, if not impossible, to remove. It is hard to have a "dust free" environement in a home.
The nice thing is I have wrecked a few of the plastic film protectors and the companies always just sent a new one.
I have had probably 20 devices over the past 2 years so I think I have tried about every brand of protector on the market
The glass protectors are the best for me. They feel like using the naked device. The plastic protectors always have a "sticky" feel to them and none lasted more than a few months before having issues with edge peel, discoloring, etc.
I had a Muvit Screen Guard for about 8 euro's.
It included two of these large protectors fitting screens up to 6.8" and you have to cut out to the right size yourself. They worked splendid for me. I sent in my HTC One for repair and the repair people scratched the screen, or rather the protector. Not a single thing on the real glass though so mission accomplished! And the scratches on the protector were pretty deep, so I agree. A cheap protector is just as good at protecting against reasonable damage done by keys or other sharp edges in say, your pocket or purse.
Now I'm using the screen protector the repair center included when sending my device back home.

A few people has posted to turn the hot water on with the shower running. Let it get steamy in there and it will take the dust out of the air. Then put your screen protector on in the bathroom and the dust element should be eliminated.

I 'wasted' my money on a GlassTr screen protector for my One. Was a little suspicious of the Ebay ones - probably wrongly so. It was I think very expensive but has fitted well and thus far working well. I'll never go back to those plastic 'things' again. Managed to get one spec of dust trapped under but other than that it's crystal clear, very smooth to the touch and phone just as responsive to the touch. Too early to comment on how it's wearing but looks good so far.
I got one of the cheapie eBay ones. I've had it about two months and haven't had any issues, save one... The glass doesn't completely cover the screen. You would think it would cover the entire black area on the face, but mine was cut about 1mm too short! Since it does cover the entire visual area, I decided it didn't bother me enough to go through the process of replacing it.
I used the hinge method, and did not have any issues with bubbles or dust on the screen.

Normally the saying goes, you get what you pay for. True for many things, however there are always exceptions. Going to try one of these! Thanks
I took the advice every one has suggested to fit screen protector tape down one side as hinge in bathroom with hot water running washed hands cleaned phone and screen even cleaned screen protector before removing plastic and it went on like a dream. Bought my screen protector from empire but can't recommend them due to carry on getting sent a protector packaged in thinner cardboard than a cereal pack so received it smashed then they sent me another in better packaging but doesn't say empire anywhere so not sure if it's there's but it works and iam happy although mine doesn't fully cover black area it's out about 2 to 3 mill but doesn't bother me .

Yeah I Agree
I've got the iloome, it's been on two months now and I've not had one problem.
I got a glass protector from ebay and I have a huge bubble in the lower left hand corner. Do those go away or should I reapply?
You could just buy tech amor screen savers from amazon, free replacements for life. I requested a new set of 3 and I got it for free, didn't pay postage or anything. Basically free screens for a while.

The best Tempered glass screen protector?

Anyone found a tempered glass screen protector for the HTC One (that works). Only one I can find is this Tempered glass screen protector.
Are all the tempered glass screen protectors the same?

I bought one off ebay not too long ago. Anyway, its a quality tempered glass screen protector. Scratch free and no touch issues whatsoever. Long story short, for the most part they are most likely all the same.
Here's the one I purchased :
http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Premium...l_Phone_Screen_Protectors&hash=item565ffcf158
Did yours match the size of the screen exactly? I bought one off ebay a few months ago, and it works fine but it's about 1mm shorter than the black area. I've sent mine in for the pink camera noise issue, and if I get it back with a bare screen I'd like to replace it with one that fits.
size
It's normal, that the protector is slightly smaller than the acutal screen. If they were spot on the same size, it would be almost impossible to put the protector on, without any air bubbles underneath it.
Brando Rounded Tempered Glass protector
I've had this... http://shop.brando.com/Brando-Works...Rounded-Edition-HTC-One-_p09083c1531d008.html on my phone for about 9 months. Not a mark on it and fits perfectly.
Bit more expensive than some, but it's 9H glass (Diamond is 10H!) & just watch the videos... They have a go at it with knives & a drill! (I've tried a knife myself ... Not a scratch!)
Worth a bit extra cash in my opinion.

The one I purchased fits the screen perfectly. Maybe a extremely small gap at the top but literally unnoticeable
I have the MIME ghost glass protector and love it! Does not have that sticky feel that PET protectors have, I'd never go back to plastic again.
http://mimeusa.com/product/htc-one-ghost-glass-tempered-glass-screen-protector/
Well, my One is back and the screen is nakies so it's time for a new screen protector. They must have replaced the screen, since it had a tiny hairline scratch when I sent it in and it's gone so I can't complain too much. Hopefully the new screen protector fits better than the last.
Mime Feather on mine and I love it.
Covers the screen perfectly and I had no trouble installing it. The only way you know it's there is because it's slightly raised above the phone (0.15mm, they say).
The iloome Flex is pretty good, I have one myself. It's easy to install, because it's flexible unlike other glass screen protectors and they also give you some tape if you want to use the hinge method. It's pretty hard (8H) and thin too.
revised review, now very negative about Mime

I have to revise my opinion of Mime and their products after having gone through 3 of them on the same phone.
1. The first one felt great initially. But it scratched much too easily for it to be 9H, so I am going to have to call BS on their hardness claim.
Mime offered to send me a new one and did after about a month.
2. The second one did not stick correctly, even though I installed it in exactly the same manner as the first one.
Mime offered to send me a new one, but they were out of stock in both Ghost Glass and Feather for this phone (M7). After several weeks, the Feather was finally available again but the discount code they sent did not work and there was a further delay while Mime sorted that out. Also the Feather model cost more so I had to pay an extra $3 US plus the coupon.
3. The unit I received after ordering the Feather did not appear to be glass. It was flexible and felt, looked and scratched just like a cheap plastic screen protector. I patiently waited because I assumed this was an interim unit to hold me over until the glass ones became available again. But when I contacted Mime they assured me that was the Feather and that Mime does not stock any plastic at all to fit the M7. So apparently the Feather is no better than plastic, but costs $30 US apiece shipped.
So I asked for a refund. Mime asked me to ship it back, which I did.
Mime received it 2 weeks ago and I have not heard from them despite multiple emails.
Terribly slow customer service all around, the products are ridiculously overpriced, I definitely would not buy again.
I apologize to anyone that bought Mime products after reading my review because my opinion of Mime and their products has certainly changed since then.
Initial quality felt good, but they do not last long enough to warrant the high price and the after sale support is also not worth the price.
I could have bought 6 of the Chinese cheapie tempered glass screen protectors + shipping and still had 5 left as I am still on the 1st one vs 3 Mime duds. This is what I have done on my S5 and it was better quality than the Mime for $4.
Don't waste your money on Mime.
initial observation is below:
I also use the Mime Ghost Glass and I really like it.
It measures .32mm. You can tell it's there if you are looking for it, but so far everyone I hand my phone to has not noticed it.
Mime also makes the Feather model, as mentioned by someone else, which measures .15mm thickness. I would have probably bought that if I had seen it before I bought the Ghost Glass. They are both rated at 9H hardness, but theoretically the thicker one should offer more protection.

Just ordered the one you suggested for $6.85. It's my first ever glass screen protector, hoping it will be a fun experience. From reviews on amazon, and I belive the one on ebay that the seller is selling, is the one made by PThink, judging from the same photos. The only complaint on the cheaper ones are that sometimes the edges don't seal down the the screen, and can cause bubbles. Still, I am excited.
Here is the link once again to buy, and at time of purchase is only $6.85 with free shipping.

I'm using Mime Feather model, very happy with it, and they have excellent customer service. Word of caution though, if you're planning to use it with HTC's Double Down case it won't work, that case presses on the edges of Mime glass and causes it to rise along the edges.

I've got UAG + Mime feather. Works great though a couple of days ago I actually chipped the edge of the feather glass and my phone. But that's because I'm an idiot and keep my keys+keyring-multitool and phone in the same pocket (hence why I have a case and protector)

What is the Best LG G3 Screen Protector?

I just bought an LG G3 smartphone (going for Android) and just like in my previous phone iPhone 5 i used the Spigen Screen protector I bought from Amazon, but now with LG G3 i'm looking for a different brand, any idea if what is the best screen protector for the LG G3? I found this and bought with easy installation dubbed smart film, so far so good love it!
MOD EDIT: Link removed. Affiliate links are not permitted
But I'm looking for other alternatives for a screen protector, my wife is planning to buy one also, any suggestions?
Here are my qualifications
Should be easy to install (no water spray installation please)
will not turn yellow
bubble free
and of course it cost less

Why not stick with Spigen?
Bubbles only occur if there is dust or particle underneath. I've installed multiple screen protectors flawlessly. If there are bubbles caused by particles, I just use scotch tape and remove it.
Yellowing is very rare. Most standard screen protectors don't use water. It uses static to cling to screen. Only those "shield" require water and even those aren't smooth or clear.
It seems people are into tempered glass now. I just ordered 2 (one for me and the other for wife). I won't get my phone until Saturday. So I'll have the tempered glass and case before I'll have phone.
i am using momax glass sp...very good as it prevent lot of finger prints and smudges

I got the Skinomi glass protector:
http://www.amazon.com/Skinomi-Tech-...TF8&qid=1406120489&sr=1-1&keywords=g3+skinomi
I had one for my G2 as well. I didn't notice the iCare one; it seems to be half the price, and seem identical from what I can see. You can't even tell it is on, it never scratches (I problem with the plastic films, you eventually get nicks, etc). I had no problems with knock on/off or sensitivity (it has the appropriate cutouts - earlier versions of the G2 one didn't and that caused problems, IIRC). Great investment, you'll likely never need another protector (I had to replace my Spigens every few months on other phones).
For the price difference between the Skinomi and iCare: not sure why. I know if the Skinomi comes with a an alcohol swab and microfiber cloth as well as a large screen-sized sticker for pulling off any dust right before you put on the glass. Not sure if the iCare comes with those, but they were handy. Not sure if they were $6 handy...
I never had an issue with regular screen protectors. I put them on my phones and they last for the 2 years+ until I get a new phone.
Most I paid for the flimsy screen protectors is probably $15 for a 2 pack from reputable brands. This is my first time buying a tempered glass. This may make me buy tempered glass for all my phones in the future.
I bought that same ICarez one a few day ago and to be honest Im happy with my purchase. Its a good fit, no too thick and doesnt effect the screen sensitivity too much. As for fingerprints its the same as the actual screen glass ie fingerprints do get on it but wipe off very easily.
thinking about trying this
http://www.invisiblewaterproofing.com/
Maybe it's cliche but I got the Zagg HD put on mine and it's spot on. The fact that it self-heals is a big help. I also kinda like the slight grip.
I have the Spigen tempered glass on mines. Flawless! I got lucky and lined it perfectly on the first try. It also doesn't bubble up with any case on. The only con is that it's quite expensive, but it performs as advertised so I'm satisfied with it.

I ended up buying the tempered glass from the Verizon store (didn't wanna change my phone while I waited for one).
Plays well with my otter box after removing built in screen pro, and my ballistic. Can't even tell it's there. .
Not to mention I seen someone drop a 15lb weight on their phone, and just the tempered broke. Your results may vary, just passing it along.

I got a tiny scratch that you barley on my G3 and bought a glass screen protector right away, its great, and I don't really notice it, well worth the money,
What people don't understand about gorilla glass is that its still glass no matter how strong it is, all those videos of knives on the screen don't make sense since metal doesn't usually scratch glass anyway, but put some sand near it, even one grain and you got hella scratches, I'd do it, but only the glass screen protector, plastic ones are ugly, leave bubbles and are hard to apply.
Trust me my S5 got scratched within a month all over + my s2 as soon as I took off the protector, Just from keeping it in my pocket
I put one on straight out of the box.
Currently got a plastic one on. No bubbles if you put it on properly.
Probably will get a glass one though when I know the phone has no faults and doesn't need to be sent back.

Haha that's dedication using the phone with the original screen cover on!
I took the original cover off and put a Spigen protector straight on. Didn't even have to wipe smudges or dust off, a lot easier like that [emoji3]
I've been using the stock protector from Verizon-- never pulled it off, it only blocks a little bit of the bottom buttons, and while it's a bit of a fingerprint magnet I figure it's perfectly applied/aligned (no dust specks or bubbles), etc. That said I don't expect it to look pristine for too much longer.
I ordered some of the Illumishield protectors from Amazon, I know someone who's used them and it looks nice. If the Verizon one's fingerprints start getting to me (or the "Audio Jack" and "Charging port" writing gets too obnoxious) I'll try one. Not sure I am ready to make the jump to tempered glass yet...
I've been using skinomi on all my phone's. Nice screen protector.
I put one on my device the second I got it, but I noticed a scratch on my screen when switching screen protectors, so I just run 100% naked now.

Get tempered glass if you can! Totally worth it!
I put a Zagg glass on the day I got the phone...best screen protector I have ever used!!
It's better to have a screen protector. Unfortunately it doesn't have the gorilla glass. I just bought the ZAGG glass invisible shield. It's wonderful. It feels more like the phone screen than plastic

So it's available for our phones now? I looked on their website yesterday and it said not yet available. I guess I'll have to look again.

I got mine in Best Buy. They're pricey $39, but I think it's worth it.

Best buy price matches Amazon and several other online retailers. I wonder if they would price match the official ZAGG price on their website.

they might, or they might have it cheaper than Best Buy

Tempered glass screen protectors?

Can anyone recommend a good tempered glass screen protector for the note 10.1 2014 model? I can't seem to find many and the ones I do have scant and very mixed reviews at best... I've never gotten a tempered glass screen protector but I definitively want the added drop/shatter protection. The only thing that worries me is that if I accidently but a crap one, the S Pen responsiveness will be hindered or the protector will peel off etc.
Also, an antiglare tempered glass would be amazing but I've only found these to be in the plastic protectors. I could live without it to get better shatter protection, though so any suggestions on the tempered glass protector is appreciated!
Thanks in advance!
I bought one on dx.com but it seems they removed it from the page; the exact name was:
Angibabe Premium Tempered Glass Screen Protector Film for Samsung Note 10.1 2014 Edition P600

I like it very much, the tab feels natural and you can stop worrying about screen scratchs and stuff. Finger detection works perfectly. Pen functions very well with the exception of on thing: if you don't use the pen perfectly perpendicular to the screen near the edges(about .5 centimeter) the detection is moved millimeters from the actual pen tip touching the screen. This problem may be happening to all tablets and I don't know it because i wont take the protector off but it seems logic that the detection is affected that way with a some space added between the pen and the actual screen. Theoretically this could be fixed with calibration on the drivers or kernel or whatever but i am no expert.
Anyway, if you stay away from the corners and the screen borders you'll be very happy with the results a tempered glass has on this device.
I just wanted to throw my 2 cents in real quick. Ive put 4 diffrent ones on mine cause I messed up every one. Lol but make sure you turn tablet off and its not hot cause I made the mistake of playing on tablet then putting it on and a air bubble came where the screen was hot and I couldnt get out. I also messed up the others but when I did the tape on sides like a hinge it went on perfect. You can google it, there are alot of videos. I bought mine now on ebay. If you want a good one and want to spend some extra money there is ghost glass but I think its like 50 dollars. Mine was cheaper and they said it was anti fingerprint but I get fingerprints on it. They come right of with screen cleaner rag though. I just went to look on ebay but there not selling the one I bought anymore. Mine works fine with spen and fingers. I did buy the cheap one from china also, I would stay away from those. They always come broke, they will send another one but it takes some time to get.
Update.
Went to the store todsy and tried the galaxy note 12. It had the same problem i was describing above and without any protector so i am guessing it is a tablet problem and we can use protector without fearing it might affect the usage.
I use the techpro tempered glass with no problems
I got a cheap one from ebay too. It's a little thick, 4mm, and doesn't fit perfectly, probably 1-2mm gap around the edges, but the tablet works just as it did without it. I'm a heavy user of the s pen and i don't see any difference in offset. I didn't have any problem applying it...i used the home key hole to line it up.
I agree with the other poster that it does nothing to discourage fingerprints, but overall i'm happy with it and would use the same cheap ebay one again. I'd say give it a try.... $20 to try is better than $50 for the "good" one unless you really need a perfect and thin fit.
I just bought one on ebay a couple of days ago. Its called: TechPro Galaxy Note 10.1 (2014) Premium Tempered Glass Screen Protector Samsung. Itwas 21.99. Ill post pics once i receive the screen protector
Can anyone recommend any goods ones
Just got a mime glass protector and it's awesome. Fits perfectly. I've used their glass on a few of my devices. Always use their stuff when they make one for the device I'm on.

I picked it up on Amazon for $19.95 with free 2 day shipping with the student deal they are currently running. It fir great and works fine but it's not as fingerprint resistant as Zagg Glass Shields I have used in the past. Of course Zagg doesn't make a Glass Shield for our Note so that's not really an option.
This is the one I got off Amazon, I'm sure you can find it again but it's perfect around all edges and screen works great as well. Paid like 20 something for it and wish I got a couple more.

I use a protector by Skinomi. No problems with bubbles, nice feel and responds to fingers or s-pen just fine. I got it on Amazon. Real inexpensive also. All specs are on Amazon..
