Excellent! with heavy use of ~ 200 emails a day 1h on internet and about 30min looking up news and 1-2h of calls i get 12-16h.

I tried the best I knew how and I couldnt kill the battery for 2 days. I ran everything at once (not truly everything) and it just wouldn't die.

Battery is ridiculous. After diagnosing my wifi wakelock issue and installing jedi rom I get 4 hoursish per 1% when it goes into sleep, and that's in a basement mostly with horrible reception.

im getting worse battery life ever since the multiwindow update. not sure if anyone else has the same issue, but it seems like tmobile users are complaining about the same thing. it might be due to lack of battery calibration.

Well, here's a visual. Just achieved this impressive feat. 81 HOURS on pure battery! Almost 3.5 hours of screen-on time. I choose to not utilize my phone much over the holiday weekend, so that explains the low screen-on time. Regardless, I think these results are more than impressive. Nothing was restricted on my device. Live wallpaper going the whole time, auto screen brightness (usually a high setting), WiFi going, auto-syncing from emails to Facebook to Twitter, watched a bit of "The Dark Knight Rises" in full-1080p HD, made a bunch of miscellaneous phone calls. I am more than amazed at this phone and its battery. Haven't seen anything close to this in more than five years or so. These results are after updating to 4.1.2 with multi-window, and these are the best results I've ever gotten on this device.
On a side note, if anyone is getting results like the first poster with 8+ hours of screen-on time, it would really help if you described what you typically do with your phone and what you may have done to your phone. Just posting a screenshot tells nothing. You could be web browsing all day with your screen set to 20% brightness, and nothing more. What are you doing? Watching movies? Listening to music? Emailing? Texting? And if you're rooted that makes a ton of difference, so the results wouldn't be exactly truthful or accurate I should say.

Sorry for the lack of detail, I should have included that. I was browsing the net on wifi, playing Words, emailing/texting, various phone calls, watching youtube videos, and spending time on the XDA app. (of course)
I'm rooted and using clean rom 3.5. Auto brightness is on and I'm about 50% on the slider.
Here is where I sit today: (not much youtube though)

^^^ Thanks. So, that does change things, since you're rooted. The reason why I'm making a big deal about it, is because your results (and anyone else rooted) aren't typical results of someone stock. So a person not knowing any better would assuming they'd get your battery results from stock.

How is that possible? I use my note for about 5hrs of screen time and it's at like 3%. I am on an international rom and I undervolted along with perseus 1.8ghz kernel. Even when I did not have perse us, I never got above 6hrs? What settings do you use? I'm on wifi all day with the brightness All the way down. Please let me know! I really want to get that 8hrs of screen on time!

Clean Rom 3.5, I also make sure and close out of anything I'm not using. I also use the ES Task Manager widget to clear my ram before I power down for any period of time.
That's about it, besides not having a ton of widgets running.
I didn't get much over six hours of screen time with my Jedi Rom, but in fairness to it, it was my first rom and I don't think I did it quite right, installing other things with it that probably weren't compatible.

Like Dr. Evo points out, one of the great things about custom roms is they get rid of all the bloatware from ATT and other carriers. Stock I was lucky to have 1gb of free ram at any time, now I'm always around 1.1-1.2gb free without much effort on my part.

ics and battery life

At first my girlfriend had her Nexus S updated to ics and immediately we noticed a huge difference in how long her battery lasted and she is the furthest thing from a heavy user.
So when I heard that ics ws being released for our phone my first thought was i hope that what she experienced won't be what i do as we have a better phone right?
Well I am sad to say on a stock but rooted rom I experience the same lack of battery life as her.
Now I am no beginner to Android and have changed all sorts of settings available and nothing syncs on its own and when I unplug my phone from charging in the morning I will need to plug my phone in at night before bed as my phone will be completely dead.
I have to say I am very disappointed in the battery life of thr the stock rom and hope some good kernels make it out to help.

Have you tried to find out which app/process is draining your battery? Better Battery Stats can help you identify what is using up your battery.
I had a big keep awake problem when i first installed stock ICS on my T989D. I did a full wipe of the phone and formatted my internal SD card (after backing things up of course), reinstall the same stock ICS and everything works great now. Battery life is about the same as before (stock GB w/ Synergy kernel), which is about 30 hours with moderate use.
Try CM 9. I get almost 2 days of battery life.

I've never had better battery life personally.
Sent from my SGH-T989D using Tapatalk 2
Though I am now on AOKP, I had great battery life on stock ICS as well. But, everything is subjective. How many email accounts are being synced? Do you have Facebook / Twitter / G+ updating every hour? Do you have news feeds continuously updating as well?
I have to agree with the poster above. Get Better Battery Stats and find the culprit draining your battery and work from there.
biggest thing draining the battery is the screen.
you can literally watch the battery usage drop 10-15% in a period of 10 to 15 minutes which is absurd when its set to low.

Wait for kernel development. Its underway as we speak. It will make a significant difference.
Some battery saving tips:
- use juicedefender and set it to aggressive mode.
- use romtoolbox or other programs to underclock cpu frequency.
- also try using telus stock ics. Very good battery life.

I have a brand new T989D (I'm new to Android, former iPhone user) and got the ICS upgrade the day I got it (9 days ago). Battery life is terrible, I'm lucky if I get 10 hours of moderate usage. The phone also tends to run very, very hot. Sometimes apps freeze and all I can do is either wait or, in some cases, remove the battery to reboot.
I'm open to any tips that will get this fixed! I haven't rooted yet (no time). I think I will try those wipe tools and reflash the stock ICS ROM.
First post btw - glad to have joined XDA!

Stock, not rooted, my battery life is great. Something is using your battery up, and flashing some exotic kernel isn't going to change that. The stock kernel works fine. You'll want to find the root of the problem. Keep a real-time (or 1-5s interval anyway) eye on the phone's current (mA) usage, and when it's high for no apparent reason, you'll know that whatever is sucking your battery is doing it right then. That should help you characterize the problem. I've noticed when my WCDMA/GSM radio signal sucks, so does the battery life, so I either turn off the radio or switch to GSM only when I'm in that area. If your display is what's eating your battery, well a kernel can't stop that. Turn the brightness down, leave it on auto-brightness, or just deal with it if you need the display on all the time. But if tweaking and modding makes you happy, by all means...

I have the same complaint. The "screen" battery usage is just unacceptable, especially compared to GB. My phone has been draining from a full charge for ~4.5 hours and my screen usage is 70% and battery is down to 65% with hardly 10 minutes of screen-on time.
I use an app called autostarts and you basically enable/disable apps that start running when certain events happen (phone startup, wifi being turned on, incoming call/sms/mms, other apps turning on, etc.). Just make sure you do your homework so you dont disable something critical. Hopefully this app works on ICS. You'll be surprised what different events make certain apps turn on automaticly. Screen, data/wifi, gps and bluetooth are the biggest battery drainers. No matter what Rom you are on if you don't keep control of those items your battery will drain fast. Keep ur screen on auto, let it go off @ 15 seconds ( you have to be pretty used to your phone for that setting not to annoy you), turn OFF your data or wifi when not in use. With bluetooth and gps...well u know that when you use them your battery is gonna drain faster than normal...just keep that in mind. Its all pretty much common sense.
I'm not going to tell you how much battery time I get cuz its nonsense. There are times my phone lasts till the next day and others Im charging it by sundown. Then again Im still on Juggs n Darkside kernel and Im gonna wait a bit still b4 I make the switch. Also don't go by what other people say on battery life cuz if you might not get the same results on that ROM. Everyone of our devices is unique and acts different. Everyone user uses their phone different. You can't define "light, moderate, heavy" use so don't go by that either.

After upgrading to ICS stock unrooted battery life sucked (5-6hrs). I did the whole remove battery, factory reset and still sucked.
Broke down rooted (still stock), downloaded batterycalibration from play, followed the instructions. Easily get over 24hrs before having to charge again. and when I say easily, I mean I still have over 25% left.

Bingo. Vastly different battery life between ROM's is generally BS. Every once in a great while one of these threads has merit but typically someone saying ROM X had "Killer" battery life is clueless and drinking the koolaid. Then a placebo effect takes place. And definitely someones "Heavy" use is subjective. If someone says they get a day out of an android phone they are not heavy users by my definition. It doesn't happen with heavy use. Perhaps the Razr Maxx or another phone with a very large battery but I've had 5 Android phones. If I get past noon it's because I am not using my phone that much and forget about a full day. It's never happened in the 4 years I've used google OS phones. Never.

[Q] Battery Life - What are you getting?

I don't know that I've ever seen this explicitly stated by anyone, so I thought I'd ask straight out.
What kind of battery life is everyone getting?
On average, say, per hour, with moderate use how much battery do you lose?
Are you stock or rooted? What ROM and kernel if rooted?
And... GO!
Screenshots welcome and encouraged!

I understand that everyone is going to be completely different, that's the point. The idea is that if people were to post a wide variety of conditions, along with their battery-related results, others can try to tweak their settings closest to what fits their needs.
Yes, it is easily found amongst the forums for individuals ROMS/kernels, but why not put together a one-stop-shop for reference?

IMO better to keep with the Roms/Kernels (Under development) or someone may mistake and try to add something to a rom that doesn't work. Just my thoughts, I understand the goal, and I'm always looking to improve upon my battery life for my use. Haven't had phone a day yet to have any real results yet to mine.. We'll see how the world chimes in on this too tho..
Current: The Peoples Rom, 69% battery remaining, 6 hrs 14 min on bat, 1 hr 20 min screen on. Just to start it off a bit.. Will update this evening.
I'm stock non rooted with fairly heavy useage and Juice Defender free and I'm sotting at about 9 hours and 15% battery

On wifi, about 4 minutes per percent of battery for screen on time + 2 hours per percent for extra screen off time. This is with the screen brightness very low though.
So, about 400 minutes of continued usage or 200 hours of standby.
Odex blue 1.2 ROM, Google Now off, report location in Maps off.
Alrighty, now we're rolling... Here's where I currently stand:
5h45m on battery - 47% left... Heavy use today though.
AOKP Rom, KToonsez kernel - undervolted and slightly underclocked.
Charging my phone now. But yesterday i got 27 hours before reaching 25%
ROM: Stock Jellybean Touchwiz (rooted of course)
Kernel: Ktoonz kernel for touchwiz (using Ktoonservative/noop stock voltages n touch boosters disabled)
I'm stock and can get 24 hours+ with about 3+ hours of screen on time easily. This is with brightness at about 80% and no battery saving options on.

SlimBean w/ KT747 kernel
Under -50mhz, UC to max around 1200, cm9 auto bright settings and juice defender

Now I'm in the islands where there ain't much good service to begin with so this might get a Lil tricky. Also i am unrooted. If that helps. [Q] What are you currently doing to increase battery life?

We all know our GS2 runs out of Battery at a faster rate than what we would like! I'm just curious, what steps do You take to increase battery life, if any.
-Do you use certain apps?
-Do you enable/disable certain things and certain times?

Im running FK23 leaked rooted with stock kernel. I use powersave mode that comes in stock settings app.
I don't limit cpu. I use phone to txt, play games, youtube, facebook, twitter, and instagram and google play store.
I get around 14+ hours usage.
Also, I try to use WIFI whenever I can. I turn off GPS when not needed. I dont use 4G often as 3G is pretty good on FK23.
Lasts me from 7:45AM to 10:27PM as of now on 1%.

I bought a cheap ($10) extended battery and cover, and a cheap ($9) TPU case/ At 14 hours, I still had 61% battery left. I can get a full legitimate day out of it running 2.3's, but I am going to try JB and ICS again and see where it's at.
I run KingKang with the JB tweaks package. I also modified my build.prop for both performance and battery life. Plus I toggle my 3G on only when I need it. If I have a WiFi signal I'll do the same with that. I average 17 hours but sometimes I get more than 24. Inverted apps not only look great, but help with battery too.

I did the same as you until the fk23 leak came out. Calkulin's v3.0 gb is amazing for battery life, smoothness, and functionality. I was never fully satisfied with any of the ics solutions, stock or custom.
Although the fk23 battery life isnt as good as calkulin, I'm still using it as my daily driver bc it's jellybean and cool, the phone runs well and smooth, and battery is good enough for me.
To answer the op's question, I do the following to help extend my battery life:
1. Leave off all data unless I need to use it (3g, 4g, wifi).
2. Turn of autosync and only sync as needed.
3. Remove bloatware and/or freeze any unnecessary apps (use GSM battery and OS monitor to find battery hog apps).
4. Leave off GPS unless needed.
5. Set screen brightness lower.
Here's a link to my FK23 results over in the battery thread in General:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=34924972&postcount=534
I've only owned this phone since after the ICS update, so never tried any GB ROM.
The ICS ROM I've had the most success with is Re-Calked, but FK23 takes it just a step further for me. I know some people have been reporting issues with FK23, but for me it has been rock solid and has been my DD for nearly a week now.
Blu Kuban also did well with battery life, but it is a little over-customized for my liking. I also had some stability issues with BK. I used sleshpics M'ICS build for a while too ... again, over customized for my liking. Good performance and relatively stable. Also, I have never been able to get 4G speeds on any other ROM/kernel like I'm seeing now.
If I'm in an area with a strong cellular signal, I can get over 24h with 3h+ screen time both on and off WiFi. If the cell signal is week, I burn from 5-7%/h so maybe 15-16h if I was there all day ... but that would obv. improve if I threw it into airplane mode.
I have frozen all of the bloatware apps, don't have Google Now activated. Other than that, I allow syncing to occur per default. I don't have FB app installed.
I use auto-brightness most of the time, and I have a dark wallpaper.
dim screen. stay on wifi. that is all.
Honestly, getting use to a dimmed screen made a HUGE difference!!
Is there ever a time when its better to not be on WiFi, of a WiFi is available?

What i want is details, not just numbers. Would definitely help a lot of users out there with everyones input.
Once again, Thanks!!
Could help if u switch it to gsm only when u don't need to surf net and 3g only when u need the Internet. It drains battery when it keeps switching

That is pretty nice, but i the first day i got the phone i had like 8,5hours on disolay dunno what was the whole time on battery, notification led on, brightness off (lowest) - this might be the main reason, gps off, always data or wifi on (i need to be connected with the world ) stock 4.1.1
Now i am using auto brightness and i get like 6-7 hours on display, sometimes 8, and everything is the same except that brightness is set to automatic, still i get full day everytime, sometimes even 1,5 day which i hate bcoz charginh in the middle of the day is nasty when you are busy with all the tasks that you get during day. All in all best battery life so far as in device, i just dont get it why somebody wouldnt want this phone with that battery life, if note III will have better life im pretty sure u will survive 2 days with heavy usage
EDIT: sometimes im working with my brother and he has galaxy nexus, we were both playing with the phones during the day and i had 56% left, he had 9% and i had more time on display, he had to charge it 3 times that day, i plugged it when i was going to sleep
I just sold
Y GNex. Hopefully will get Note 2 tomorrow
Battery life on Gnex sucks big time

Hi, can you please let us know what rom, kernel and your phone configuration?
My battery life fluctuate around 3 to 4 hours on screen. Saw some of the users have 9 hours. Dont have any idea how to get that actually
There's an entire duplicate of this thread just a few posts away.

I know. But its nothing in detail. It just shows numbers. The reason for my post is for users to contribute their detailed configuration for their phones such as ROMS, Kernels etc, that lead up to their battery life. Its all about the details.

All of which is useless in the end. My usage habits and app installs will impact battery life differently than yours no matter how "exact" our settings are at an exact moment.
Can we please move beyond this silly notion of some holy grail of configuration? Use your phone! Ignore quadrant scores and whether I get 9hrs and you get 10.5 hrs. Those numbers will never be consistent, nor should they matter. If you're getting 2hrs of battery life, then maybe you have an issue worth solving.
If there were a singular combination that made everything run on platinum and 50000 hrs of screen time, trust me: we would know about it.
I plead to everyone: stop with the quest for "best". It isn't going to happen. Find what's best for you.

Running 4.1.2 clean ROM 4.0.5 with a 1.92ghz mod and custom modem I usually get about 15-30 hours depending on screen on time. I can safely stream google music all day to my Bluetooth about 6 hours and only drain 15-20% turning WiFi and GPS off helps a lot. Also set sync to off. Here is a screen shot after a 10 hour work day
R: Galaxy Note 2 Battery life
Running wanamlite 2.5 (stock deodexed ubdll3), auto brightness, perseus kernel with overclock and undervolt. 6 hours of screen time, 1 hour of calls, 2 days of usage.

Hi guys!
I own Note2 till January but I never had good battery life! I dont know where is a problem. Can I have bad battery? My phone is rooted because on stock rom is my battery life worse.
Now Iam running Hurricane rom, bloatware I removed immediately, I used kernel mod for better battery performance but I cant get more than 3-4hours of screen time. I dont play any games, just browse the internet, mostly I am connected on wifi, sometimes Facebook or Messenger, nothing more. Please help me. Thanks

Battery.

Right, so this is driving me crazy lately.
I've been running on ParanoidKangDroid quite happily for about a year or so now before I've started questioning battery life. It was brand new when purchased.
It used to run what I'd consider fairly well, not having a 'real' smartphone before. Compared to my friend's Note 2 that lasted a lot longer, I just chalked up to battery size.
Lately I have noticed that it is ridiculously short. Once I started looking into it I have been seeing people with 15h life and 3-5h screen time. That's insane, at minimum brightness I usually get 1.5h, maybe 2h screen time max.
I've checked wakelocks, I've checked for physical battery bloat, I've now installed S3rx 4.3 Touchwiz based ROM cleanly, all without solving my issue. I don't let it run dry, I top it up frequently in order to not **** the Li-ion battery out of capacity. I've checked threads out for ideas and tips to no avail. Notice that there isn't any games sucking it dry, as I don't tend to play them!
I realise that my mobile signal isn't the best in some cases, but battery life remains same with similar usage at home or anywhere with consistent full reception. I'm just stumped. Later tonight I'm going to move-on to PAC-man or Carbon Rom, as this Touchwiz crap is driving me batty, and try a couple different kernals.
Without further ado I present thee my photos. Any suggestions?

Please install the BetterBatteryStats app. Read up first 3-5 posts from that thread. Then post a text dump on that thread.
I'll look into it.
Thanks
