Here's my situation: experimented with removing some system apps today (mostly bloatware) on my rooted stock ec05 Epic and I decided to try getting rid of "System Updates 1.0.0". Then, I remembered I sometimes use the update prl function to reconnect my 3g if JuiceDefender doesn't kick it back on automatically after I wake the screen up, so I popped back into Titanium Backup to restore the app. It's been in the process of restoring it for the past 30 min and I'm not optomistic anymore. My question is this: is there a way to get this system app back short of ODINing back to complete stock? I lurk a lot on the Epic boards but I haven't experimented a lot with my Epic itself, so I'm ignorant when it comes to these tricks. Thanks for any help I receive.
Cheers

Try reflashing the rom and you cant backup sys apps with titanium
I reccomend you use sdx stock app remover it pretty easy and backups too and it doesnt take forever like titanium

Damn. I was afraid of that. It's funny because TB restores most of Tue other apps just fine, just not System Update and the drm files.
How about this: I located the apks for these three in my TB folder and extracted them to the sex backup folder. I'm trying to restore them via sex tool now, but I always get an error saying I'm out of space, and SD maid doesn't turn up anything I can delete to make room. If I could make room, would that method work, and if so, how should I make room?

The latest paid version of Titanium Backup allows the deletion and restoration of system apps. You should see a red Happy face, IIRC.

Im using Titanium right now but wanted to know if there were any others out there that did the same that are worth checking out. I want to be able to backup my apps and the apps data and be able to restore them like Titanium.
Titanium is good but I find too many errors in the backups that it makes. I want to be able to restore apps with their data.
Any suggestions?

Rom toolbox pro. It's also got root explorer, icon changer, rebooter option, app manager, and a build.prop editor. It's got nearly everything you would need.
Ill try both. Thanks for the suggestions.

The problem with titanium back up is that its"too good". It backs up the data as you currently have it much like a nandroid back up. That's great if you don't switch ROMS, cause if you accidentally delete an app then you can restore it. A lot of new ROMS don't tolerate any data at all though so it kind of renders titanium back up use less. If you do use it you will get errors because of the data it restores. Your apps need a clean install when switching ROMS. I suggest. AppBackup off the market. Its free and makes a full copy of all your apps by pulling the apk from the system and saving it as a file on your external sd. You have to re install the apps but it leaves the data alone. Unfortunately you can't save your high score onpc angry birds while switching ROMS. At least ICS ROMS.

Titanium Backup has the option to restore app and data, app only, or data only so this shouldn't be an issue. I have ran AOKP since build 32, and have never had an issue restoring user app plus data from one build to the next. I can't speak to different Roms though.
My Backup Pro.
Been using it for Months.
Excellent Backup/Restore app.
look i have used them all and by far the best for the buck is rom toolbox pro it has it all with ultimate backup built in.it will automatically backup new app if u want it to so that way if u forget before switching roms ur still good to go plus all the bonus the toolbox has makes it in my opinion the best app on the market
Astro file manager does a good job. That is what I use, it backs it up and installs your apps.

My personal favorite is "APK Batch Installer Tool" hands down! It allows for multiple back-ups to your PC, saving space on your device. Save just the APK's or APK's with data. One of the things I like best is creating folders on my PC, indicating the ROM and version. So its a no brainer if i want to restore a favorite ROM with data I simply select the appropriate folder. A hidden feature is the ability right click and choose back-up/restore all. These functions can be performed wirelessly or by usb cable. Also you can "fix permissions". With a short learning curve, frequent updates, solid performance, its become my must have app. Don't forget to show the dev some love.
The problem with titanium is that i have to use classic installer and its a pain when u got 60 apps backed up. But I still think its the best backup app out there. As for the guy saying that its incompatible when switching roms there a workaround. All u have to do is uninstall and reinstall the troubled app then restore data separately. I ran into that problem from blue kuban 1034 to 1035.

Also titanium has more options than romtoolbox btw. Not trashing on romtoolbox its still the best utility knife but just the backup functions and options comparison I have to say titanium hands down.

Why does my phone give me these weird "insufficient storage" pop ups when I have free memory. I barely have any apps on my phone and I just went to update tb and it said that I have no room. Also when I move apps to sd card most of them work but some of them give me this message as well even tho I know they're lying because I know I have free memory on both the phone and sd card but I get this message and they don't let me install or move apps. Anyone have this problem before? And I've seeen it on different roms so I don't think a reflash will fix it.

First, what program is giving the error, and what segment of the memory is it trying to write to. If you are trying to write to the SD card and there is no room there, then you might have a problem with that. On the other hand, it may be another section.
Additionally, you may have downloaded a program that wants to allocate a very large chunk of space for itself. More than you have. Some games download their data when you first load them. They often check for sufficient space first. They can use well over half a gigabyte, so if your SD Card doesn't have that space free, it will error out.
I know wht you're talking about but I don't recall titanium backup needing an extra couple hundred Mbs to work lol.
Its happening with every freaking app I'm trying to download off the market or install off my sd card. And even the apps I'm trying to simply update off the market.
And I have like 4gbs free on my sd card and 500 mb free on the phones storage.

There's been several ways of going about remedying this, there's the odin to stock method, the factory reset, and the clear market data method. I've personally only tried the latter 2, and they work temporarily in my experience.

DONT REFLASH... lol titanium backup odex file is corrupt, remove it from system/app and uninstall TB, then download again
What hsppens is there are fragments of the old programs still In data that screw up the reinstall. Search with root explorer and nuke those bits. For instance if youtube app fails, search for youtube and a list of all files with that in the name will pop up. Nuke those files (don't forget to make r/w). Other option is odin and clean imstall.

Is there a app that can automatically clean old left behind files like 1click cleanup.
Hi all, I too had that problem before when I was on stock EC05 BML and had little space on internal memory. I could not upgrade Titanuim so I got so mad that I started getting into custom roms with MTD to have more space. Also helps if you get a class 10 32gb card.
I saw that the July 15, Titanium try to download from market it failed because not enough space and I was tripping but I used the lucky and it cleaned the messed up left behind odex, then install was coolio.
I also get sometimes could not parse error on .apk and never could figure it out. I guess they are not compatible with my phone since they were not downloaded from market...

Titanium Backup is one of the most useful programs to come along for people who root and flash. It is well worht a few bucks ($6) to guarantee working updates, support the developer, freeze apps, batch work, and to save all your data. It pains me to see a program discussed here whose sole purpose is to cheat the developer out of a few bucks.

I think that this is sometimes caused by unnecessarily re-flashing the gapps when doing a dirty upgrade upgrade on cm or aokp. It also happened to me after advance-restoring data on aokp. Duplicity seems to be the main connection here. Clean installs are good for the epic's soul.

Dead trigger stores its data in /sdcard/Android/obb/com.madfingergames.deadtrigger/. Copy that whole folder to the same location on the new device. Other games store their data in /sdcard/Android/data, so look there for other any future apps that give you the same issue.
Good luck,

I reinstall all necessary and desired apps from the play store by sliding going to the "my apps" page, and sliding over to the "All" apps pane and individually choosing. This is because I know sometimes, depending on what rom and phone I'm restoring to, there may be some apps that I see as obsolete and choose not to reinstall. Then, using the app "Datasync" I pull down all my old settings from the apps from my dropbox account back onto my phone. Saves me 30mins of reconfiguring many of the settings. I can also automatically back up to the dropbox account using "Datasync" so that it is always up to date.
Another alternative to datasync is carbon, from clockwork recovery. And for those that are wondering, I tried setting up some "social gaming" using datasync pro on my device and a friend's, so that we could play and beat games together, like angry birds levels, etc, but datasync does a full wipe and backup for both uploads and downloads, and not partial incremental changes like I originally thought, so my social gaming idea failed.

I do this exact same thing when flashing a ROM from a clean start. Usually I do pick AdAway first from the list (I know it not on the Store anymore, so I install the APK from my SD. Then Root Explorer and XDA Premium, then whatever else I feel I want at the time.
On a side note does anyone know when the XDA app will be back up? It's been days (if not weeks?). My subscriptions don't show. That's the only (main) reason I paid for it. Easy access on the go to my threads.
