Why does my phone give me these weird "insufficient storage" pop ups when I have free memory. I barely have any apps on my phone and I just went to update tb and it said that I have no room. Also when I move apps to sd card most of them work but some of them give me this message as well even tho I know they're lying because I know I have free memory on both the phone and sd card but I get this message and they don't let me install or move apps. Anyone have this problem before? And I've seeen it on different roms so I don't think a reflash will fix it.

First, what program is giving the error, and what segment of the memory is it trying to write to. If you are trying to write to the SD card and there is no room there, then you might have a problem with that. On the other hand, it may be another section.
Additionally, you may have downloaded a program that wants to allocate a very large chunk of space for itself. More than you have. Some games download their data when you first load them. They often check for sufficient space first. They can use well over half a gigabyte, so if your SD Card doesn't have that space free, it will error out.
I know wht you're talking about but I don't recall titanium backup needing an extra couple hundred Mbs to work lol.
Its happening with every freaking app I'm trying to download off the market or install off my sd card. And even the apps I'm trying to simply update off the market.
And I have like 4gbs free on my sd card and 500 mb free on the phones storage.

There's been several ways of going about remedying this, there's the odin to stock method, the factory reset, and the clear market data method. I've personally only tried the latter 2, and they work temporarily in my experience.

DONT REFLASH... lol titanium backup odex file is corrupt, remove it from system/app and uninstall TB, then download again
What hsppens is there are fragments of the old programs still In data that screw up the reinstall. Search with root explorer and nuke those bits. For instance if youtube app fails, search for youtube and a list of all files with that in the name will pop up. Nuke those files (don't forget to make r/w). Other option is odin and clean imstall.

yeah I got that error too
Is there a app that can automatically clean old left behind files like 1click cleanup.
Hi all, I too had that problem before when I was on stock EC05 BML and had little space on internal memory. I could not upgrade Titanuim so I got so mad that I started getting into custom roms with MTD to have more space. Also helps if you get a class 10 32gb card.
I saw that the July 15, Titanium try to download from market it failed because not enough space and I was tripping but I used the lucky and it cleaned the messed up left behind odex, then install was coolio.
I also get sometimes could not parse error on .apk and never could figure it out. I guess they are not compatible with my phone since they were not downloaded from market...

Titanium Backup is one of the most useful programs to come along for people who root and flash. It is well worht a few bucks ($6) to guarantee working updates, support the developer, freeze apps, batch work, and to save all your data. It pains me to see a program discussed here whose sole purpose is to cheat the developer out of a few bucks.

I just had to scroll back and re- read the whole thread. The second time around I saw the app you refered to by name. After Google searching it I realized what you are talking about. I agree with your statement and am a proud owner of Titanium Backup.
He says it will get rid of all 'corrupt data'?? I don't understand...?

I think that this is sometimes caused by unnecessarily re-flashing the gapps when doing a dirty upgrade upgrade on cm or aokp. It also happened to me after advance-restoring data on aokp. Duplicity seems to be the main connection here. Clean installs are good for the epic's soul.

Any help here would be appreciated. This happened twice with google maps and once with facebook. Instead of integrating, apps are being removed from phone.
I am on stangs rom the latest official deodexed gingerbread rom...never had this problem before.
Are you restoring data+apps? And if so what Rom did u back them up with?
Sent from my ADR6300 using xda premium
Nah. When I install a new rom (like this one for instance) I only restore user apps and data. I leave all the internal apps alone.
Soo after getting updates for internal apps (like Gmail/Maps/Facebook) I use the intergrate button and then **poof** the apps are removed. Icon still shows up under system/apps in Root Explorer but the app and icon don't show up anymore on phone.
So what do you guys recommend? Should I just do this manually in Root Explorer? How can I integrate on my own to save some space?
Just wanted to bump. I know I can do this the reverse way while rooted. I guess by removing the app and reinstalling again but anyone else have any ideas?
Still getting this problem.
How much free space is is /system? TB may fail on moving if there is not enough space free.

Hmmm I bet you are on to something. Only about 3-4 mb free. Even though I can free up about another 40 mb by deleting an app.disabled folder I created. Thanks man I bet this is why.
Does anyone else have this problem? This happens when I make a nandroid backup. I just want to make sure that this is not something that will hurt my phone or keep me from being able to restore a rom. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanksyall

I believe a nandroid only backs up your internal sd card. Its nothing to worry about. It wont hurt anything and wont cause any problems restoring a backup.
That means you don't have sd-ext is present on your sd card. EXT is simply a partition of a sd card so that you can dedicate the space to apps. Example, if you have a 2GB SD card and you partition your card to so that the 1GB will be available to apps. Other 1gb you can access it on explorer to store files, etc
Thanks for the info. How do I go about fixing it?

You don't need one....you aren't fixing anything.
EXT used to be used back in the days of the G1 because it had limited space. Now a days, phones have a ton of space and it is not really an issue.
OK. Still confused ...what do I need to do to have my sd-ext recognized.?
Sent from my SGH-T989 using xda premium
You don't need to do anything. Its OK because the phone already has enough memory. This is for phones that don't have a large amount of memory. For example, the HTC G1 had like ~85 MB of memory for apps. So one had to create a separate partition on the memory card, EXT 3 or EXT 4 with at least ~500 MB to store more apps. With this phone, we get about ~1.90 GB. So there is no need for that. Anyone correct me if I'm wrong.

It's attempting to back up something that no longer needs to be backed up because the information that was previously stored there is now being stored on your internal sd which IS being backed up. You don't need to do anything or worry about it, everything on your phone is being backed up except your external sd card (which no flash should touch and thus shouldn't need to be backed up). We all get the same message, it's nothing to worry about.
Wow lmfao this is comical xD answer the dude 3x n he still disnt get it xD
U want it fixed? Boot to cwm, Reformat sdcard, wen it asks for ext size put 512, swap size 0, issue "fixed" basicly useless tho on this phone, n the ext will probably b slower then the system storage, but u obviously want it to stop showin onn the log so there ye go, done
OK. Thanks for everybodies help.

Hello forum, I just joined today mainly for the issue I'm going through right now. I have a Motorola Triumph from Virgin Mobile that runs Froyo 2.2. Lately, I've been getting low storage space notifications and it was driving me nuts. So I went on Playstore and downloaded Data2sd and to be honest, I really didn't know what I was doing. I launched the app, granted the superuser permission, and I created a 300mb partition onto my sd card. Then I selected data on the menu option and started selecting all the movable directories to move into my sd card. Everything seemed fine since I was keep getting the "moving succeeded" message, only until I rebooted my phone. That's where my problem is. I noticed my wallpaper was gone and the android launcher was keep crashing, not letting me do ANYTHING at all. I'm so frustrated and I really dont know what went wrong. Please help! I don't wanna reset my phone because I dont want to lose all of my important contacts! I apologize in advance if this has a simple solution, I'm still kinda a noob at modding android phones. Thanks.

If the contacts are the only problem, i believe you can backup them via ADB. Also, try uninstalling Data2sd. If you want a guide ask me

Nevermind, i got it fixed! all i did was somehow manage to open my browser and download home++ beta launcher. Through that, i was able to back up my contacts and whatever I needed, and did a factory reset. That fixed the problem! now I've found a better app than data2sd and that is links2sd. That works like a charm thanks for taking your time to help

I've always used ROM manager to make, rename or delete a nandroid. The app shows that there are no backups but when I go into CWM it shows there are 6! I tried to save my current setup and was unable to because there is no available memory.
Those 6 are clogging up potential available space does anybody know how else I can delete them?? I searched a bunch of files in Root Explorer but couldnt find anything. I want to check out TWRP because I hear a lot of hype about it but need to get this situation dealt with first.
Any pointers will be greatly appreciated

I just went through and cleared a few gigs of crap and old backups off my internal storage, but when I check how much space is available, it doesn't reflect this. It says I only have 700mbs available still, but the bar and numbers clearly indicate I should have more than that. Here's a screen shot for a better idea of what's going on http://www.imgur.com/sIt8G.png
