Hi Guys,
I'm still new to the note 2. Was wondering if our note 2 requires fast dormancy if our teleco has this feature.
You should ask your mobile operator if they use Fast Dormancy. There were some ways to see if the feature is supported by the operator on older phones but I'm not sure if it's possible on the Note 2.
Anyway, if you bought the phone from the mobile operator and it is using the operator's custom rom, it should come with the right setting already.
One way to check (might not be the most effective or easy, but it works) is to use BetterBatteryStats and let the phone idle for an hour - then look at MultiPDP & secril_fd-interface and note how many times it woke the phone and how long it lasted. Then disable Fast Dormancy with Gokhanmoral's app from Google Play (it's made for SGS3 but also works on the Note 2) and repeat the process. Compare the results and use the one that drains less battery.
And what if those 2 wakelocks wake up phone even after i have disabled FD?

its a question that i have been waiting for.
seems like any push data is affected because the app shuts down data to save battery.
I know you can set it so it switches on for a 1min every 15mins but if you have GTalk or constant emails being pushed, it means you wont get them until the app switches the data back on to reteive the emails/messages.
this is my understanding on how this app works.
if there is a program that auto switches ur phone to 2G when idle or screen is off, then i think this is a better solution.
This one does turn on when your screen does lol..
But earlier it stopped my data working even with screen on, i had to go into settings and disable then re enable and it worked! maybe it was cus i was at work and it tried to connect when i had no signal.. i dunno
Re: juicedefender
it's a known problem and the developer is working on a fix. I won't be using it until it is

Is it? Whats the fix? Just turning it off and back on? Because disabling JD didnt work..

This happened to me yesterday as well. Only way I could get mobile internet back again was to reboot
Hi,
I installed JuiceDefender two days ago. Since then, I have had wifi problems. I can't be 100% sure that they are caused by JD, but I had no wifi problems before that, using several different networks.
My phone is SE Xperia X10, but I understand that the app works the same way on both phones.
The problem is:
When wifi is enabled, it takes several seconds to enter the "wireless networks" menu in settings. It then takes 20 seconds entering the "wireless settings" menu. During this period, the screen goes black. Sometimes, I get a message that the wifi app has crashed. Also: When I connect to a network, it works fine for 1-5 minutes, but after a while the phone does not seem to receive any data, even though it says "connected". The same wifi network works perfectly on my computer.
I have tried rebooting the phone, uninstalling/reinstalling JuiceDefender, etc.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this? Any hints on how to solve the problem?
Re: juicedefender
happened again today with mobile data at work, it turned it self off. does the developer know about the bug?

I think I might just keep charging mine but leave juice installed because I like the push notifications so ill disable juice for now!

Juicedefender is not in market anymore.
I bought this a few days ago and it has been working great but i was just prompted to update to the latest beta and nows things are not running too good.....may need to disable for a while.
uninstalled mine. just cause i wasnt getting good internet at work. seems better now. still a good app in theory. better than anything winmo had to offer.
Ive left it on but dont use it anymore.. Battery seems to have improved anyway
Re: juicedefender
the developer has released a beta to try and fix the issues. looks like the different carriers are causing problems with resuming the apn connection
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk
Gotta say, seems to be working without an issue on my phone
One thing i would like to know tho is that i can see the settings to change the rules for activation of wifi and apn but i would like to set these to 1m every 30mins rather than 15mins, is this possible ?
I only seem to change it to 2m for every half hour...seems to defeat the pont in changing it...What have i missed ?
It's absolutely helped my battery life. I think it's just about doubled it overall. I haven't bought the full version yet but I do intend to. Not because I want the extra features, but to support the work done on the free version - superb!
I have 4G LTE unlimited grandfather plan on my S3. But as you all know, the battery drain pretty quick with 4G LTE. I cant even last a day with normal usuage. I am on on stock LH1 rooted rom. I've found that turn off data from the notification bar help with the battery tremendously but dont want to miss out important emails when im not near a computer.
What app/widget do you guys use to automatically turn data on and off periodically like let say on for 30 minutes then off for 30 minutes, or off/on permanently via manually override from the user?
I've searched on the market and Google but no luck..
Thanks guys!
I use switchpro widget. It has a data toggle that you can switch on and off as needed.
JuiceDefender claims to be able to do this. You can select how often data is enabled and the duration.
Batteryfu great app and free

Juicedefender just set it to activate data after you unlock the screen very helpful its under the help tab in the app.

thaks. will try it soon
any customized Samsung TW ROM with 15 toggles MOD will have Data On/Off switch.
+1 for recommending Juice Defender. I upgraded to ultimate, wasnt really necassary though you can set schedules for it to sync anywhere from reactivating your data every 5 minutes to once every couple hours and everywhere in between. Can set it to turn off your gps, wifi, blue tooth etc... Just my 2 cents
JuiceDefender is probably your best choice. I've been using it on every Android phone I've had and it gives you a great deal of customization if you upgrade to ultimate.

Your answer is juice defender or those types of apps. Like easy battery saver and Green Power.

been using Juice Defender for a week and it does the job just like how i wanted! Battery life has been increased tremendously!! I love this app! Thanks everyone for the recommendation!
Just recently started using better battery stats , and have been receiving this as a partial wake lock. Other people have suggested it has to do with Google location access and turning it off solves the problem . I tried this but it is still occurring.
Are there separate RIL files that are supposed to be used in conjunction with the modems for ATT sgs3's? Just wondering as some other phones have the option to install these I.e the international s3

one of the biggest culprits is network location locater. I found that leaving GPS off and WiFi on, with maps/Facebook/Google now set to not auto detect or report location gives very good results.
using the cellular network alone to pinpoint the location when needed seems to consume more battery than just leaving WiFi dormant and letting the phone find its location with both cell towers and WiFi.

This does not help.
If you noticed in the OP, it was mentioned he already tried this.
Hi, all~ If anything below bothers, forgive me 'cause I'm a newbie
I'm currently using Verizon Note 4 on T-mobile network. It seemed perfect in the beginning, but a few issues have been found.
1. Touchpad not working when connected to the automated system ?
(when the phone is connected to the automated system, we are often required put a number to select an option. But, even if I touch a number, it never gets through.)
2. Wifi-Calling:
Is there anyway to use wifi-calling?
3. Mobile Hotspot:
Mobile hotspot is not activate.
If you know a solution to any of the issues listed above, please let me know.
Thanks a lot

1) I am not sure on how to resolve that issue.
2) You will never get wifi-calling on the Verizon edition as it is a feature of T-Mobile.
3) Mobile hotspot will not work either because it has to authenticate using a Verizon Sim card.
1..I suggest factory reset..had couple issues too when I just got the phone fresh out the box.. did phone factory reset helped as well as battery improvement.
2...I wouldn't mind using Google hangout slightly different but an alternative.
3..few people I've heard used foxfi..Google play..

Also, you can't flash a T-Mobile Stock Rom on the Verizon Note 4 or else you might as well brick the device. The Verizon Note 4 has a slightly different, internally speaking.
Subject says it all. Even when connected to Wi-Fi, my LTE/3G/1X icon still shows. I've literally never had a phone that does this. Is this normal?

Mine does the same thing, but can't answer your question. The pessimist in me thinks it could be some shady trick Verizon does to seep more data out of us for overages.
Was going to post this same question, I remember on the galaxy s4 they had the caller id app causing the issue, doesn't seem to be the case this time. Also tasker can't control mobile data on lollipop anymore, so that's out of the question.

I've seen that bussiness model before. I have a HP printer at work that uses 4 cartriges that cost roughly $180 (each) HP has set it so even if you print strictly in b/w, it still applies slight C/M/Y to the mix till it depletes the other cartridges...

It's persistent. Your wifi is on and working, if you want to you can turn off data and it will only show wifi

IMO it is the "my <insert carrier name> app"
Same happens on my tmobile galaxy s6. I think is a 5.1 thing. Sucks balls.

I had the s6 edge before this for a couple days and this phone is similar from what I've noticed some apps require carrier data to provide authentication and some phones use both Wi-Fi and lte to download faster this phone does it at times it's just not really a feature to turn on and off yet like it is on the edge.
Sent from my LG-H811 using XDA Free mobile app
I've got the H815 and can not confirm this. I never had a phone that did this, save you activated that option within an Xposed module. I did this on my Note 10.1 2014 LTE because I wanted to check the connectivity strength of my carrier even when I had WLAN enabled. But out of the box? No.
On the G2 pre-lollipop, we could change the icon set and hide data icon when on wifi.
After lollipop, it seems to stick regardless. Annoying I know.
The only downfall of the LG is the intense amount of status bar icons. I really only used xposed to hide most of those and have centerclock. Need root first though. Not sure if xposed is supprted without a custom recovery yet. They disabled activation through the app until testing was complete.

Same to me, im on T Mobile galaxy S6, i just update mine to 5.1.1 and this anoyin bug start to show.
When im on Wifi the Data icon show up randomly:crying:
For what it's worth, I set up a tasker profile along with autoinput for when I connect to my saved wi-fi access points it would turn my mobile data off. Now it's not a smooth as tasker before lollipop, but it gets the job done.
That's a Verizon thing, same appears on my Moto X. Doesn't bother me, I'm always interested to see signal strength available even if I'm using data via WiFi.
This is how every Verizon phone has been for the past few years. This is intended and I honestly prefer it.
