Kobo app not compatible? - T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-T989

I'm on Slim Rom......kobo in app store says not compatible with this device. Serious? Or is it a glitch??
Thanks for any help!

I'm on Slim Bean as well and just tried installing the app to see if I get the same result. It's working fine on my phone so it should install on your phone without a problem, try wiping the data/cache for the Play store app and then restart your phone to see if that fixes it.

Thanks.....didn't work tho. Wonder if being at 180dpi has something to do with it....or multi dpi playstore I'm running. Have to play around with it.

That could be it, revert your dpi back to stock 240 dpi making sure you clear the Play Store data/cache before you download the Kobo app again. Good luck!

It makes everything on your phone smaller. So technically it makes your screen bigger. If you get an app called ROM toolbox, you can do it thru there. You can use root explorer our similar app, and change the build prop manually. I like using 180. Stock is 240. 200 also looks nice. The only downfall is your market will not let you install some apps. It will say your device is not compatible. There are apps in the market that will fool the market app into thinking you are still on stock density. You can always return to stock, download the apps you want then change the density back to what you want. You may have to wipe data under Google playstore, inbetween changing it. Hope this all helps.

flashable modded market for changed DPI.

This is a modded market for people who want to change DPI from stock. I didn't mod it. I took the apk from LCD modder and made a flashable zip for you guys.

Pretty sure that's a paid app, so wouldn't this be against the rules?

I don't think so because it is a freely available apk. Anyone could mod it. If I had not disclosed the source you wouldn't know that's where I got it. MODS please correct me if I'm wrong about that.

Is there a proper way to flash this? I flashed it wiping cache and clear data under apps tab and did not work.

What exactly is the problem? Try clearing data on Google services framework.

I clearled data under play store. I'm on 190 dpi and play store is not working properly. I'll try again.

You need to revert to 240 dpi, clear data on both play store and Google services framework, reboot and try play store again.

Netflix and YouTube say incompatible at 200dpi. I flashed the zip in OP, cleared play store data, cleared framework data and rebooted. No good.

Certain apps missing in play store (cm9?)

OK so, ever since I upgraded to CM9 months ago, I have found that certain apps are not available to me from the play store. For example, when I type in Youtube, it doesn't even show up as a option to download. When I go to the play store on my desktop, it either says that the app is not compatible with my device, or my device is greyed out in the drop down menu. This is true for several other apps that I have tried downloading. I tried clearing the play store data, but I'm still limited in the apps that show up upon searching. I was able to find a youtube apk elsewhere, but am wondering what the fix is for this cause there are other apps that I want...like zen bound. I just upgraded to alpha 6...same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have put up with this issue for long enough.
I haven't had that issue and am on cm9 and was also on aokp. Which cm9 did you download and from where?

CM9 was from here. It may have nothing to do with CM9, I just can't figure out why so many apps either don't show up at all upon search (e.g., zen bound 2), or they show up in the store, but say that they are not compatible with my device. I though it might be a screen density thing, but when I upgraded to alpha 6, the screen density went back to 240 and the play store is still missing apps like youtube.
Try clearing all data for the play store and then reflashing gapps...?

That did it! Thanks button has been pushed.
Clearing play store data then re flashing gapps did the trick (i.e., zen bound 2 and youtube apps were showing up in play store). However, I woke up this morning and the play store is doing the same thing as before (missing certain apps). For example, I type in "zen bound 2" and get a white screen with the "No results found". I tried the same technique again (as suggested by shultz) and this time it doesn't work. So I'm back to the same problem. Any ideas on what the culprit is here? should I be posting this in the CM9 thread?

yes, I live at 190, but went back to 240 just in case that was the problem (is there a better setting i can try?). I let rom toolbox reset my phone after and i still couldn't get zen bound 2. By the way the above trick (clearing play store data and flashing gapps) briefly worked and i was able to download zen bound 2, but by the time the game was finished downloading, the play store stopped working correctly again....and so I have zen bound 2 purchased, but it won't let me install it cause it says my device is not compatible. This is aggravating.

DPI and play store

Can someone post the steps to get Google play store to find certain apps when it doesn't recognize my device because I have the DPI set low? I remember when I was on aokp it had the steps built into the ROM but I don't remember how. Play store either doesn't show what I was searching for or it says device not compatible. Also what is the lowest you can set it before the play store can't recognize it? Thanks!

Change dpi, reboot, clear market cache, enter market, accept.
As far as dpi for market, depends on what you consider working. As you move away from stock, you start having different things happening like movies+tv disappearing or apps being not supported. You have to mess around since no one has yet posted a list of trial and errors. To get around the apps issue, download the modified market app. It will remove the app restriction, but be careful you don't try to install something you shouldn't.
Download LCD modder pro. It gives you the option to download modded market. Works great for me
I use rom toolbox pro to change dpi, reboot, download 2 files from lcd modder pro, install and reboot. You might see a bunch of things fc while its prepping to reboot but its fine

Haha! I know the feeling!!! Just a quick note!
When you replace the files. Delete the app cache for the market and Google services framework via settings then flash the modded market. I'm gonna look into Google services framework as well and see what role that gas in market compatibility. Also after replacing files, reboot to recovery and clear bother cache partition and dalvik cache. That should help.

So after I changed DPI and rebooted, my phone wouldn't come on. I did dark side cache several times and phone wouldn't come on. Thank God I had an old nandroid. Not the current jb one. So I did follow the steps exactly like you said.

Did you change the DPI before adding the files? or did you change the files then change DPI and then reboot? It being JB shouldnt really matter as the android market is pretty universal as GB market works on ICS and etc. However they may have changed it.
Can you provide an exact step by step as to what you did?

Question about downloading apps from the market...

Anyone else having problems downloading certain apps from the play store? The error that appears where the install button would be says "this app isn't compatible with your device ".....anyone know anything about that and/or a possible solution for this problem? Its happening with apps that I have used before.

Did you change your dpi?

What app and rom? Some custom roms have apps bundled that are bot officially compatible with the pgone. Also the dpi thing as mentioned.
I'm currently running kingkang 3.2 and dpi is all set for 240 or higher. Is there a work around for this?
The app that I was trying to update was Google now...and its happening with apps like dolphin browser and mint.
Sent from my SPH-D710 using xda premium
Im actually having the same issue on ParanoidAndroid.
I'm having similar issue on Universe ics rom.
nandroid just in case. then make sure dpi is set correctly. on pa backup current settings and reset all back to original. reboot. then clear data on market and uninstall Play updates. reboot. try play store again. on pa you xan then restore your dpi backup and reboot again.
