Anyone else having problems downloading certain apps from the play store? The error that appears where the install button would be says "this app isn't compatible with your device ".....anyone know anything about that and/or a possible solution for this problem? Its happening with apps that I have used before.

Did you change your dpi?

What app and rom? Some custom roms have apps bundled that are bot officially compatible with the pgone. Also the dpi thing as mentioned.
I'm currently running kingkang 3.2 and dpi is all set for 240 or higher. Is there a work around for this?
The app that I was trying to update was Google now...and its happening with apps like dolphin browser and mint.

Im actually having the same issue on ParanoidAndroid.
I'm having similar issue on Universe ics rom.
nandroid just in case. then make sure dpi is set correctly. on pa backup current settings and reset all back to original. reboot. then clear data on market and uninstall Play updates. reboot. try play store again. on pa you xan then restore your dpi backup and reboot again.

Are these protect apps and this has a market issue or am i just missing something? I am using bamboozle 1.1
app brain, chompsms, and empire online are the one's i found so far with no install button.
It can be an issue not getting a proper ID on your phone, thus not allowing your to install some apps that have hardware requirements.
Have you tried to delete and reinstall the Market???
no
I have not. would i have to do that with root manager?
Just happened last week. I had changed my lcd desity with an app so some market pages just didn't fit. Went back to 240 setting and install returned.

If you use market 2.3.6, there isn't an lcd density check. So you can download all apps

I'm 99.9% sure its the lcd density. Dd you wipe the market cache?
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I changed lcd density back to 240 tried to clear cache but it would allow me so i forced stopped it and still greyed out. checked again still cannot download certain apps. Just tried the green market and it seems to have fixed it. or maybe i needed both since i couldn't clear the cache but the market looks a little off like it did at 200.
switched lcd density to 200 an still works

Didn't understand your post. So it worked or still didn't work? Having similar problems myself.
I rooted yesterday, if that has anything to do with it, but I went to install mightytext today and it say that it is not compatible with this phone. Can someone please try to install, or report if you have installed, mightytext? Is there anything I can try to install this app? I tried deleting all data for the market under settings->applications and that did not help. I don't know of any other specific apps that are missing at this time.
Change your dpi settings back to 240

Did you change your screen dpi? If so, change it back and try again.

Wow, that was totally it!
1. How did you know that? That seems so out of the blue. You don't have to answer that. I am sure it was personal experience.
2. How did the market website know that I had changed the resolution too? I couldn't even install it from there.
Oh well, all is good now.
You guys rock!
The new Android Market (3.3.1.1) seems to fix this issue for me allowing me to download and install without having to first reset my resolution settings.
I'm coming from an Evo 4G and never had this problem...
I've come across several apps that say "your device is not compatible with this app" and wont let me DL it... what's this all about?
I'm rooted, running Calk's ROM with EL29 kernel and build and EK02 modem if that helps
An example is the Cut and Slice app in the market and Modern Combat games
Have you changed your screen density?
Need to be at default (160) or 720p (240)... those are known Android resolutions and the app market checks for that.

Not seeing this with blazer.
Just FYI.. I've side-loaded at least one app that I needed that said it was incompatible in the market and it worked fine
Also, I restored a version of one that has a lot of data with it and it works fine also.. the backup was made on GB and this is CM9 alpha 2 --- and that's prolly a no-no, but not having that app was the only thing standing in my way of liking 4.0.4 as a daily driver
OK so, ever since I upgraded to CM9 months ago, I have found that certain apps are not available to me from the play store. For example, when I type in Youtube, it doesn't even show up as a option to download. When I go to the play store on my desktop, it either says that the app is not compatible with my device, or my device is greyed out in the drop down menu. This is true for several other apps that I have tried downloading. I tried clearing the play store data, but I'm still limited in the apps that show up upon searching. I was able to find a youtube apk elsewhere, but am wondering what the fix is for this cause there are other apps that I want...like zen bound. I just upgraded to alpha 6...same problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have put up with this issue for long enough.
I haven't had that issue and am on cm9 and was also on aokp. Which cm9 did you download and from where?

CM9 was from here. It may have nothing to do with CM9, I just can't figure out why so many apps either don't show up at all upon search (e.g., zen bound 2), or they show up in the store, but say that they are not compatible with my device. I though it might be a screen density thing, but when I upgraded to alpha 6, the screen density went back to 240 and the play store is still missing apps like youtube.
Try clearing all data for the play store and then reflashing gapps...?

That did it! Thanks button has been pushed.
Clearing play store data then re flashing gapps did the trick (i.e., zen bound 2 and youtube apps were showing up in play store). However, I woke up this morning and the play store is doing the same thing as before (missing certain apps). For example, I type in "zen bound 2" and get a white screen with the "No results found". I tried the same technique again (as suggested by shultz) and this time it doesn't work. So I'm back to the same problem. Any ideas on what the culprit is here? should I be posting this in the CM9 thread?

yes, I live at 190, but went back to 240 just in case that was the problem (is there a better setting i can try?). I let rom toolbox reset my phone after and i still couldn't get zen bound 2. By the way the above trick (clearing play store data and flashing gapps) briefly worked and i was able to download zen bound 2, but by the time the game was finished downloading, the play store stopped working correctly again....and so I have zen bound 2 purchased, but it won't let me install it cause it says my device is not compatible. This is aggravating.
I'm on Slim Rom......kobo in app store says not compatible with this device. Serious? Or is it a glitch??
Thanks for any help!
I'm on Slim Bean as well and just tried installing the app to see if I get the same result. It's working fine on my phone so it should install on your phone without a problem, try wiping the data/cache for the Play store app and then restart your phone to see if that fixes it.
Thanks.....didn't work tho. Wonder if being at 180dpi has something to do with it....or multi dpi playstore I'm running. Have to play around with it.

That could be it, revert your dpi back to stock 240 dpi making sure you clear the Play Store data/cache before you download the Kobo app again. Good luck!
