[Q] Cant find my boot loop answer on search - HTC One X

I understand the n00b rules but for the last 3 days I cant find anything on here that helps me specifically
tried to update to Android Revolution 18.0 using youtube video, I personally think the bootloop comes from not updating hboot;
*Unlocked*
Endeavoru pvt ship s-on rl

eMMC-bootmode : disabled
CPU-bootmode : disabled
HW Secure boot : enabled

CWM v5.8.2.7
I'm trying to charge highest i get to is 3664V
When i charge from wall red light dies after about 30 mins
When I charge from usb after fastboot powerdown red light dies after about 30 mins
When I leave at "Quietly brilliant" red light dies after about 30 mins
When I leave on CWM screen goes to black after 30 mins
In any of these 4 instances is is still charging?
If I get higher what should I do specifically if I want to return to original stock?
Sorry if this stoopid but cant find anything about the redlights turning off.
My last idea was this;
powerdown from fastboot after unplugging usb,
then plug in usb
after 20 minutes long press power till "Quietly brilliant" comes on
then power and volume up to fastboot mode and repeat
This worked for a little while but then I get flashing red light and cant enter "Quietly brilliant" for about 10 minutes :/
Someone please help this N00b

Flash cwm 5.8.4.0
Fixes charging problem
It will charge in recovery but won't have light.
If too low battery to flash,
Try this
When you have enough juice you can probably flash the Rom if compatible
maXimus One X

you didnt upgrade the hboot you need an hboot above 1.31(preferably the latest) to prevent bootloops. and also you have to flash the boot.img from the rom zip file this is extremely important.
If you cant flash anything because of low battery read the post before me, and flash a custom recovery. then charge from the recovery with screen off to boost.
here is the link for both scripts.

Thanks for the reply

What is the maxium voltage this phone will hold and what voltage will it go through with a flash?

If I didn't relock it but CWM updated after flashing is it charging in the recovery? I just heard a lot of bad things from relocking but it seems to have successfully installed cwm 5.8.4.0 anyway and its currently sitting in recovery mode now.

100% should be about 4.2v
I managed to fastboot flash recovery img at about 10% I think, the bootloader screen warns you if battery too low to flash anyway

Yes for flashing recovery's and boot.img files you need an unlocked bootloader, fot flashing firmwares you need a locked bootloader
And yes the phone should charge in the cwm 5.8.4.0 recovery ....

so going forward from I here I;
>Charge phone 100%
>Lock bootloader
>Update hboot firmware
>Unlockbootloader
>Flash boot.img of new rom
>Then flash rom
Do i have to worry about kernels? I checked the CID for my phone and know which firmware to install.
P.S. Thankyou so much for this guys you really are amazing, my fiance has been so pissed at me for the last few days!

No kernels are not cid related, only the firmware. But as you said you have the right one so that's fine.
Rule 1 : always flash the kernel that comes with the rom
Rule 2 : always do a FULL WIPE if you are coming from another rom

this'll seem like a thick question but kernel= boot.img?

Correct.

So atm my phone is bubbling away getting more battery life in the meanwhile;
what sort of voltage am I looking at before it will install the firmware, I need to get this fixed fairly quickly, atm its on 3677mV
Also once I update the firmware I noticed you've previously told people this;
"fastboot oem unlock unlock_code.bin"
Do i use my origional unlock code or generate a new one?

Don't know about the voltage thing but yes you can use the code.bin file again
Fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
Is the right command

It is probably better using the real code instead of making it up
Do you know if it recharges quicker in CWM mode or by using the recharging batch file?

Cwm is a bit faster as far as i know ! And its better for the phone because its not rebooting continuously !

So finally fully updated and squeeky clean phone thank you so much Mr Hoff and other users, absolute legends

Glad it worked out ! Have fun with your clean and fully working handset

That's a good guide, but btw...
Make sure your phone is AT LEAST 50% charge.
Because, during the updating process, it will not charge with the usb cable and therefore not going to charge the phone.
If it shuts off during updating, you cannot charge the phone even if it's off.

When RUU 1.26 didn't work for me I tried RUU 1.28 (latest three branded RUU) And that worked.
I think you might be trying to flash the wrong RUU you need the latest version of your RUU that you have previously ran on your phone.
It sounds to me from your posts that you need the 1.29 RUU but it's your responsibility to make sure you use the correct RUU.

some advice please

hi
last night i tried to install android revolution HD 14.1 jellybean on my one x.
i unlocked the bootloader and put clockwork recovery on. I then created a backup through cwr just in case anything went wrong.
I then followed the guide on here to install the rom.
long story short it got stuck in a boot loop. I obviously didn't put the right boot.img file.
i still had access to recovery etc and continued to search online for solutions.
I decided to try and install the rom again.
so i relocked the bootloader and rebooted. i opened command prompt and typed in " fastboot oem rebootRUU" but i get (bootloader) (ERR) command error !!!
what do i do?
Did you update your HBOOT before you unlocked your bootloader?
What is your current HBOOT version?
Have you flashed the correct boot.img for ARHD 14.1?
We need a little more info on what you have done and/or not done.

You need to update your HBOOT to the latest one using this tool,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924003
You need to put your unlock tiken and Boot.img in the same unzipped file as the firmware flasher stuff. Boot your phone into fastboot, start the .bat file and let it do it's thing, it will talk you through each step as it's doing it. Then you just need to flash the rom in recovery. Make sure your CID is on the list in the first page

[Q] Q: Firmware Package HTC One X

I'm going to update my htc one x to jelly bean from ICS, using custom ROM (ARHD), it was noted that I need a firmware package, and now that I found the package for my CID because took sometime before I found it, is it really required to flash it? TIA
For JB roms you need a JB hboot those are the 1.31 and higher up. Except for the aosp JB roms, those run also on the lower ics hboots.
So if you are on a lower hboot then 1.31 then yes you need to upgrade the hboot
Now I think everything's messed up and I badly need help here, so stupid with I did.
At one moment, my phone is stuck at One tm screen, after I flash the boot.img and installed the custom ROM. I tried to restore my phone using CWM but it still stucked. It was too late before I realized how to flash the firmware package that I need to rename what I downloaded to firmware.zip. I tried flashing the firmware without knowing that I have to relocked my phone before I flash it. Now I relocked my phone and I'm stucked with hboot and I can't do anything at the moment.
With it relocked. In fastboot do
fastboot oem rebootRUU (note the capitals)
Your phone will then reboot into a black screen with the HTC logo.
Then do fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
Once completed fastboot reboot-bootloader
It will reboot into bootloader
Then unlock and flash recovery again.
Flash boot image and reinstall ROM and you should be good to go

Cannot load "firmware.zip" always shows up. My CID is HTC_044, and as far as I know I downloaded the correct firmware package for my phone according to ARHD forum. Thanks in advance.
Did you have the firmware.zip in your fastboot folder?
Yes. And I downloaded it 3 times just to make sure it is the right firmware.
Oh and sometimes you need to flash it 3 or 4 times to succeed. I had to do the command 3 times when I flashed my firmware.
So try it multiple times in a row.
Sent from my One X
Sorry but I tried several times and "error: cannot load 'firmware.zip' all the time. What could be the problem?
During at work. I thought if is it possible just to return to stock ROM? But I just can't find the proper RUU yet.
cid: htc_044
version-main: 1.29.707.11
I'm currently charging my phone using the batch file I found here in xda. I saw a lot of posts regarding flashing the current version of CWM so you can charge your battery, I think my CWM is in version 5.8.1.0, and as far as I know you have to unlock your hboot before you can flash recovery, so it's impossible for me to flash 5.8.4.0? Am I correct here or I can just proceed to the other steps?

Thank you Mr Hofs! And, should my battery level is 30% or higher before I can flash the RUU?
Yes ! If you can't get enough power with the batt script you can flash the latest cwm recovery and charge the battery in there to 100% if you want to.
Unlock the bootloader first if it is still locked

I was done in re-unlocking my bootloader, but then I still can't flash cwm recovery because it says low battery, then I tried to use the batt script again and of course it cannot work since I just re-unlocked my bootloader.
I never tried it with a unlocked bootloader, have you tried it ?
Yes, I tried it and it doesn't work.
What I did for the past hours, I tried to restore my phone again using cwm recovery, still nothing changed, still stucked at htc one logo, then I turned it off trying to charge it using the main charger and it does have light in its LED, left it for a while and now it doesn't turn on.
Try it with phone connected to the pc, it seems to make a difference sometimes....and if you are capable again to run the bat script then leave it for 2.hours or so !
Now it's working. The first time I used the batt script, I thought it could charge more than 3681mV but It didn't work as it didn't get higher than 3681mV. I HOPE it's enough just to flash the cwm recovery. Thanks Mr Hofs, will update asap.

[SOLVED] Hboot upgrade attempt failed

I'm trying to help a friend remotely fix his current brick of a HOX and would like some pro advice to ensure im telling him the right thing. Info I have:
Its S-On UK T Mobile CID T-MOB005.
He obtained a 1.39 firmware from somewhere that matched his CID
At some point in the process the firmware flash failed or partially flashed
His Custom Recovery is gone
His HBoot version has not increased (i think 1.12)
He has a security warning under the 'relocked' message in bootloader
Before he tried the firmware upgrade he flashed viper x 3.4.0 + boot.img so the phone wont boot up normally now
He has a nandroid backup from before the process.
Im going to recommend to him to download the 1.36 firmware from Mikes thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1957376 (i notice there is no 1.39 available for his CID so im suspicious this was a duff file he had for 1.39)
If he cant flash it because of low power then he should use the charging batch script first or re-unlock, flash CWM, restore nandroid and flash the boot.img from it so he can boot phone and charge it normally or from cwm.
I guess after that start to look at an RUU or a stock nandroid backup download to be able to do the firmware OTA ?
My own HOX is S-Off so im not as familiar with the process as i never worried about the correct firmware or had to flash boot.img separately from roms or nandroids.
Any tips appreciated.
Cheers
Re: Hboot upgrade attempt failed
Yeah that's about it.....only flashing the rom is not going to work because of the low hboot.
Just charge the battery and and unlock the bootloader, then reflash a custom recovery and charge the battery up in there.
With enough power he can relock the bootloader and flash the firmware
Fastboot oem lock
Fastboot rebootRUU (watch the capital letters)
Fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
Unlock the bootloader
Fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin
Then flash the custom recovery again and install a new rom !
Cheers, so out of interest what causes the Security Warning in the bootloader ? Is it because the phone knows there is a screwed up firmware flash or knows it cant boot\has low power ? It must have done something as his custom recovery was wiped even though the Hboot ver didnt change.
how does the security warning look like exactly.....i know there is a warning because the bootloader is relocked. don't know if we are talking about the same picture now
Re: Hboot upgrade attempt failed
You have to relock the boot loader to flash an updated firmware which is the point you are at and why you are seeing the security warning.
The first time you flash the updated firmware it flashes everything else.
Stock recovery, boot.IMG and sometimes other partitions.
Then it tries to flash the hboot and fails.
All you usually have to do is tell it to flash a second time and then in succeeds in updating boot.
Obviously he stopped after the first attempt which is why only the recovery changed and not the hboot.
I doubt he has a bogus firmware as the phone will not attempt to flash anything that isn't signed and cid matched.

Re: Hboot upgrade attempt failed
Ok it lives ! Was a combination of the firmware file and his battery being too low to flash so he put cwm back on, charged and then followed my instructions. Cheers for help
This is the what I sent him incase anyone else finds them useful. Assumes you know roughly what your doing and that you must get back to fastboot usb for the commands .
-----------------------------
So get phone into fastboot mode by power plus vol and choose it in bootloader., plug usb in so it says fastboot usb, then get command prompt in directory with fastboot in on pc.
1. Lock bootloader with: fastboot oem lock
2. Vol and power down to get into bootloader again
3.fastboot oem rebootRUU
4. Should now get phone with silver HTC in middle on black
5. fastboot flash zip firmware.zip where this is the new firmware for your cid.
6. Might fail first time. Do it again and it works
7. Should now see green bar completed under the htc
8. Power and vol to get to bootloader. The hboot should now be updated.
9. Now to unlock bootloader again
. fastboot flash unlocktoken unlockcode.bin (where unlockcode.bin is the file you got from htcdev)
10. Now on the phone select yes and it reboots.
11. Don't wait just use power and vol to get into bootloader.
12. Flash custom recovery again. fastboot flash recovery recovery.img where recovery.img is the cwm 5.8.4.0
13. You can now flash your chosen Rom boot.img. fastboot flash boot boot.img
14. fastboot erase cache
15. Now use recovery to flash the Rom.
16. Done

[Q] Cannot update bootloader after relock the phone

Hi there,
I bought a new motherboard for my HTC One X - 16 GB and after download and install via OTA the new Android, I got stucked.
After trying to install all the stuff I found on the internet, I really got stucked and I cannot go on without getting back the official version (I just need to use my phone back, because it took 4 months to the motherboard to arrive here).
When I power on the phone, the HTC quietly brilliant appears and a red message too ("This version is for development and bla bla bla"). Then, it goes to the main screen, where it says:
"
*** RELOCKED ***
ENDEAVORU PVT SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT-1.12.0000
CPDL-none
MICROP-none
RADIO-NONE
...
"
My CID is unknown now, I don't know why, but my original CID is HTCCN701.
I don't really know what to do. When I run "fastboot flash boot boot.img" with the RUU, it gives me error (batery low, even though I recharged it all night long or 000000008), and when I try it again, it runs for 20> minutes and say "too many connections".
If anyone have any tips for me, please just send it. I've waited a lot for this motherboard to arrive and now I can't use the phone. :/

I have already tried it, but it does not work. Now the phone says "battery low" and I can't even charge my cellphone, when I plug it on the usb or wall charger, it turns on and stays like this.
I already gone to FlashBoot and Power Down, but when I plug it again, it turns on and does not charge!
I'm lost... :/

Could you help me with the flash custom rom? I really don't know what to use and what version.
I know for sure that I have to install one recovery and then the rom, but I'm newbie and I don't know exactly what to do.
Depends on what rom you want that's something you have to decide for yourself. If you made a decision on which one you want to try you can come back here

Hey man, I've decided that I want to install this rom (the phone is already unlocked and I have a TWRT smooth instaled)
teamandroid.com/rom/slim-dragon-ultimate-rom-htc-one-x-android-4-2-2-jelly-bean/
But I don't know if my CID supports it (or if I'm talking ****), because I don't know if the hboot (v 1.12.0000) that is already installed supports it.
How can I know if this seed will work on my cellphone? My CID is HTCCN701, and my main version is 2.18.1407.3.
Can you help me?
No sense 5 roms and kitkat roms will not work, you need a higher hboot for that !

Please check the facts first before you send a user into the woods.....hboot 1.12 does not support the latest roms.
@FSCosta do you have a stock backup ?

Could you gently help me to install a higher hboot from the information I wrote above?
I'm looking....but it's a very rare software number. So we need a firmware or a stock backup

I have found this posts:
tomsawyer.me/325.html#.UzHgm_ldW2a (use translate, it's not the best translation but it's possivle to understand).
The version he claims to be is HBOOT is 1.36... What do you think about it?
Is that a website ?

Yes, I cannot send websites, so I removed the beginning!
yep downloaded it, i was still on my phone (now on laptop)....it seems genuine. all file sizes match oke. lets flash it
EDIT 1 : writing a tut now....make sure you start with a full battery !
EDIT 2 :
- Download the zip file and rename it to firmware.zip and place it in the fastboot folder on the pc
- Relock the bootloader with ths command :
fastboot oem lock
- Then type :
fastboot oem rebootRUU (watch the capital letters)
- Then type :
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
Sometimes flashing for the first time doesn't work, so flash firmware.zip again if the outcome is not OKE
Then type fastboot reboot (the phone probably wont boot, hold the power button + vol down button to get back to the bootloader)
Once in the bootloader you check if th hboot has changed, if so you can unlock the bootloader and flash a custom recovery and also a new clean rom (yes any of your liking)

Ok, I'll try it. Do you have any tutorial that I must follow? I've been looking for them but I'm not pretty sure which one must I use.
One I found said: rename the file to firmware.zip, relock the phone, reboot with RUU param (fastboot oem rebootRUU) and then install the firmware... is it ok?
refresh...i have written it out for you

Man, it has worked smooth! THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
I decided to install the VENOM viper X version...
They say: "MUST PERFORM FULL WIPE!!!!!
MUST FLASH BOOT.IMG IN ZIP!!!!!"
The steps I must take are:
Extract the Boot.IMG in the rar file to your fast boot folder
Set up phone in boot mode
Connect to PC
Fastboot erase cache
Fastboot flash boot boot.img
Fastboot erase cache
Boot phone in recovery mode
Wipe data/factory reset
Wipe cache partition
Wipe dalvik cache
Install zip from SD card -> pick rom
Is i correct?
Thank you for patience. I really appreciate your efforts and time.
Yeah flash the boot.img and go into the recovery
Make indeed a full wipe (wipe all you can except sdcard) so that means caches, data, system.....
Install the rom.zip and the installer will start. Make sure you choose the option "update only" and the full rom install. Nice choice you won't regret it.
I can also recommend some nice themes which you can find in my signature
