I wanted to tryout cm10 nightly build for my s3. I backed it up and installed the rom. After playing with it, I went to restore and now it says no files found?????
Any clue how to find it?
---
Created another backup, so I was able to put my original backup in the new backup folder and restored it from cwm recovery. Worked.

Sorry, was a bit shocked when it happened.
Well i found the back up, but when I go to CWM to restore it says no files here. But I can access them when I connect my s3 to my computer. Whats an alternate of way restoring this backup?
Where is the backup supposed to be? I have a feeling this is an emulation issue.

Its supposed to be in Internal Storage/S3/Clockwork Mod/Backup
When i try to boot into recovery and restore from there it says
"Couldnt open directory"
No files found
What version of CWM are you using? Check /storage/emulated/0 and /storage/legacy/0.

Hey guys, I need some help...
Last night I did a nandroid backup of my DC3.2.3 install, so I could update to 3.5 (as well as installing the WIMAX update, which I hadn't done previously).. Today, I wanted to flash back to it for a minute, so I went back into nandroid to restore it, and when I tried, I got an error "couldn't open directory /sdcard/nandroid/"
So, I booted back into android and checked it out.. No nandroid folder on my sdcard, but the backup is saved in the root of the SDCard.. So I created a folder and moved my backup into that folder.. tried again, and then got an error "couldn't open directory /sdcard/nandroid/recovery.img"
Any help?
Not trying to be a jerk or anything, but couldn't you have put it here?? http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=652

Sorry, didn't occur to me. Mods can feel free to move it.
Rooted with Simpleroot..
Did you use rom manager to back up? If so, you need to use clockwork mod to restore. You can't switch between ra/clockwork.

Got it working with Rom manager... Thanks for the tip!
I rooted my HTC Evo 4g 2 days ago using revolutionary and replaced clockwork mod with amon ra 2.3 and I flashed the Synergy - [RLS1 + GodMode 08/05/2011] rom and it worked fine.
Last night I flashed the Warm Synergy Theme For RLS1 and it didn't work and it was force closing on multiple apps like messaging, people ect. so I restored the nandroid I created right before flashing.
Now today I go to recovery and try to go to nandroid restore and it says "E:Couldn't open directory /sdcard/nandroid/"
I also had deleted the recovery zip off my SD card because I thought I no longer need it so I tried putting it back on there and nothing changed.
Anyone know whats going on? I couldn't find any threads with this same problem.
If u created nandroid with cwm then u can only restore with cwm. Same with RA
Sent From My Pocket
It was created by RA but it won't even let me go to Nandroid restore, when I try to go to it it gives me that message
Any other ideas?

I'd say to try Flashing a New Rom and start Fresh...
Did u put zip back in exact directory on SD? Also may need original name if u renamed it
Sent From My Pocket
yeah i just put it into the root and it is the same name
i thought it wasnt even necessary to keep because i followed the root for dummies gingerbread edition n it said to rename or delete it

Honestly, you don't TRULY need the nandroid backup file to resolve your issue. If your nandroid was just a backup of your stock ROM then just flash a rooted stock ROM. If it was just a previous flash of Synergy then just reflash that ROM.
lol the rom isnt the problem the only problem is that it wont let me go into my nandroid restore.
do you think that the rom is causing this?
Did you rename the nandroid restore?
I believe he said he did and put it on root of SD. That is wrong location for it hence his problem

Check the name of the backup. Make sure there is no spaces or characters, other than -
While you can add to the end of the default name that the nandroid backup is given, you cannot change or remove that name. or have any spaces in the name. Also, it has to be in the folder that it was originally set in when you did your nandroid.
For example, the name I have for my last nandroid is
BDEARS-20111008-1719_MIUI-10-7-complete
hey thanks everyone for the help but I figured out that my backups got deleted idk if I did it or not cuz I made another backup and then went to restore and it worked fine.

Try to re-flash your recovery. When I got that "something went wrong error", that worked for me.

You can change that name completely. My backups typically look like:
CM7_30_Oct
The only thing is: you can't use spaces, or invalid characters, like an asterisk. Underscores and hyphens are fair game.
And yes, you can't change the name of the HT.....[device name] or it'll say the backup is corrupted.

Seems like something is missing inside it, like the txt file, ect. Make sure the name is PC36IMG, case sensitive [use all caps].
Hi Guys
First time poster here so hello from me, need a little advice please, I am trying to unroot my HTC One M8 (ATT) and I was going along quite nicely using the unlockr guide and then got to the "Flash the Stock Nandroid Backup" part and I am stuck big time!
Long story short I just can't find the files when I boot into recovery, I downloaded the stock stock Nandroid backup unzipped them or RAR and put it in the /TWRP/backups/ folder which I had to create the Backups sub folder. Then I boot into recovery mode and nothing, it can't see the files, I have the correct files I double checked I got the correct one but it just can't see it.
Anyone had this issue, I bet I am doing something stupid I just don't know what!
Help
Thanks
Stuart
If anyone could help me with this you would be doing me such a big favour, will be traveling tomorrow overseas and hoping to get it taken care of before I go. Thanks again
Stuart
It will be TWRP/backups/youserialnumber. Go into TWRP and make a back up of your boot partition. That should create the folder that you need to install your nandroid backup zip to.
Thank you so much for the reply, I did try earlier to try make a copy of the boot partition but I have never done it before and it didn't work out very well. Any advice or apps recommended please?
Thanks
Stuart

put the nandroid you downloaded in the folder that was just created by TWRP backup.
reboot to recovery and restore the backup ... done

I will need to root and install twrp again. But like a said in the first post after restore the phone it rebooted to twrp and i could not get out of twrp without flashing another rom... but i will try my luck again.
I will be happy to donate a litt cash your way if you can help me
First thing you want to do is take the whole back up folder and COPY it to your pc incase you wipe it or muck up re-bumping the TWRP

There is a thread in dev section to solve when you are stuck in twrp.

Hi there,
I have spent hours trying to fix my issue that i am trying to fix and i was wondering if you guys could help me out?
A few weeks ago i went to go and plug my phone in as it was completely flat but for some reason it began some kind of boot loop where it would reach the lock screen for a few seconds and then power off again because it did not have enough power.
I left this on over night in the hope that it would charge my phone but when i tried to power it on in the morning it just got stuck at the Samsung logo. I did a quick web search and they suggested leaving your phone at the Samsung logo, clearing you cache/dalvic cache and finally resetting it. After all of the above failed i thought that maybe a a full restore in odin would work, the same thing happened when i tried to power it on.
I then went back into the stock recovery after the reset to find the error "E: failed to mount /efs (invalid argument)".
After quite some research into this i found a possible zip that may fix the issue from people having a similar issue but of coarse it diddn't work.
It seems as if the /efs folder/partition may be corrupted in some way.
I am really stuck on this now and i am reluctant to pay lots of money to someone to fix it
Do you have any ideas?
Many thanks,
Shenstone
EDIT: The phone has CWM recovery installed and i have attemped to flash the stock firmware with both Kies and Odin
Bro, maybe flash stock firmware will solve the prolem

Do you have the original EFS folder backed up? If so, then try restoring it and flashing a stock ROM... If you don't have your EFS backed from earlier you might have some problems, I don't know if it's possible to fix it then...

I didn't specifically backup the EFS folder, however I performed a full backup in CWM recovery. Do you know if there is a backup of the EFS folder there?
Just a quick question, is it possible to re-create a EFS folder or not?
Many thanks!
