I think nobody asked this question before since I didn't find it even loking in Google
Since I got mi Desire I realised that not every charger works for it, I have an USB charger that went with a bluetooth dongle I bought (with same specs) but seems to be a lie because the battery keeps draining when plugged in, but that's not the problem I actually have.
My original HTC charger broke after three weeks of normal use , since there are no HTC stores in my country I went to an Apple store and bought and Iphone charger wich has the same specs as the broken stock one (Output 5V 1A). The problem is that sometimes when I plug the phone (usualy I charge my phone overnight), the screen becomes buggy, sometimes not responsive and sometimes over responsive (eg. if I click on an icon to move it into the home screen, it responds as if I clicked that icon several times very quickly). At first I thougt it was a ROM issue, but at this moment I already tried LeeDroid, OpenDesire and now I'm on teppic74's rooted Froyo and had similar issues in everyone of them. It's not really a mind breaker since I am ussually sleeping while charging, but I wonder if I'm not killing the battery or causing any kind of damage to the phone.
Can anybody give me a hand on this?
Thanks
Why not just order a charger online?
I don't know if it hurts the phone or the battery.
But if my screen went super-laggy and over-responsive by charging it..
I'd throw the charger out.
Already ordered, but I was wondering if someone happened to know a technical reason for this to happen, the phone doesn't overheat and the charging process works as a charm, the only issue is the screen wich sometimes behaves perfectly normal
Guess I will give the charger to any iphone owner when I get the original one (I have to buy in the UK store.. totally overseas)
My phone does the same thing if I use a PS3 charger (Just the usb to wall socket part). When I was in a phone shop, I noticed their Desire HD that was on display did the same thing. From what I can gather, it doesn't do any damage and happens with a lot of aftermarket chargers. Don't take my word for that though, hope I shed some light
Hello
Have same problem with my recently buyed HTC Desire while charging with non-original charger (from Nokia).
First time I'm worried about phone, but after reading charger's characteristics I found some difference in power.
So I think while phone charging it's receives less power than needed for normal work.
Hi,
My Desire that I've had for around a year and a half has stopped charging.
I have tried with 2 different HTC charges and have bought a new battery but now it won't even charge past 0%
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Henry
Does the led light come on at all? If not your usb port on your phone is probably dead r some kind of hardware problem inside the phone. Do you have any warranty for it? If so send it to htc, think htc give you a 2 year warranty with the phone.

I bought one of these 5000mAh external battery packs that I use when I am on a trip with limited access to mains chargers.

It works well on most of my phones (HTC touch Diamond 2, HTC HD mini, Galaxy Ace) but it does not work on my Sony Neo V and Motorola XT532. It seems these phones stop the charging after connecting which makes the battery think/decide that charging is not needed and it automatically switches off.
On my Sony, i don't see anything happening when trying to charge. on my Motorola I see it blinking for one second (with the charging sign on) and then it stops.
Any idea why this is happening? Is this something in the battery driver?
thx

Hello!
I have recently had some problems with my old HTC M8, I was round a friends house and decided to use his wall charger to charge my phone (bad idea).
I left my phone on charge all night and when I picked it up the next day it was stuck on the HTC boot splash image, I tried a few things at the time and wrote the phone off as buggered because it wasn't connecting to any PC and Fastboot said there wasn't a USB connection (charge only).
I'v been using an old Moto G for a while now and i'm really missing my M8. I have repaired a few smartphones in the past so I bought a new USB logic board for the M8 and replaced it.
This didn't solve my issue...
What I have tried:
New USB logic board
"Battery calibration" (hold down all buttons for 2mins+)
Leaving the phone on charge for hours at a time
My current situation:
The phone is 100% lifeless when not plugged in.
There is slow flashing orange light when plugged in
Because the phone is clearly not charging and it is also stone cold after a day on charge, I think that the battery could need replacing? Or is this phone a write off?
Any help is much appreciated.

You are right, try replacing battery if it's financially viable (considering how much you already spent).
If replacing battery doesn't work just throw it out and buy the HTC 10.
