I am going nucking futs!!!! I want to use this phone with my AT&T service and it is currently locked to T-Mobile... I hate those arses for locking their phones. Not to mention AT&T for the same practice with the iPhone. If there is an unlock (FREE) mind you, please lemme know I am willing to brick this phone trying, because as it is now it is just a pretty paper weight. It is a t-mobile dash WM6.

ummm call t-mobile. they will send you the unlock code within 5 days.
yep. i called a few days ago and they sent my unlock code yesterday. just have to have a valid account for 90 days to get it.
im also with t-mobile. they didnt even ask why i wanted the code.

They technically are not suppose to ask. Not like your answer will determine whether you get the code or not. I think they are federally told they have to if asked to give it up.
if and when i call and they do ask what i need it for what should i say/
and when unlocked i can use with any carrier???

You don't have to tell and they're not supposed to ask. If they do tell them you're going overseas

I have hunted all over to find how to unlock a sim in a t999. I can not find a way to do. Is theer a way? I cant have tmoble do it becouse my account is too young. I am month to month but need to use a differnt sim do to the areas i travel.

You can call T-Mobile and ask them for the unlock code. They will e-mail you in about 24-48 hours. Once you get the code, you put in the new SIM card, and when the phone asks for your unlock code, enter the code provided by T-Mobile and you'll be good to go.
Had to do the same thing with my phone as I travel to Canada a lot.

I was looking for that too in case T-Mobile didn't work for him.
I do find it odd that TMO would say the account is "too young".

They always say that just in case you terminate early. I go through a lot of phones, Tmobile will unlock your phone every 90 days, it just has to be a Tmobile phone. You would also need to use the new phone for a bout a week so it could register under their system.
After hours of reading i decide to post im really stresfull with this situation. i bought a phone trough ebay i live in dominican republic but when i insert the SIM CARD say " NO SIM CARD" like if i had not put anything. i saw in the post that sprint has somehting modified to dont let no one activate the phone until we call them. i was trying to call them but there are asking me for a phone number and the phone doesnt have any phone number like the CDMA always do.
PLEASE!! there is any way to remove that security and unlock the phone without call sprint ?
if there is any how can i do that because i dont want to lose the money that i paid and im very needing this phone.
i tried lot of thing like the ##3282 and enable the LTE , BAND 26 AND 41 also i have my msl code but nothings appears to work.
Do i need to sell the phone for parts or i will need to wait till someone resolve this problem bz as i think is a software solution ....

Need unlock code from Sprint for international use... they unlock over network. Still, shouldn't say no SIM card, try another.

I've tried 3, all of them say no sim card.
Bottom line you shouldn't have bought the Sprint model. Sprint sends out the unlock code/unlocks the phone over their network and you being in the D.R, you're out of luck.

It's not as complex as you are making it out to be, don't crush people's hope if you don't have facts behind it. Yes it wasn't a good idea to get the sprint one, but the deed is already done. Both the S4 and the HTC ONE were unlocked without sprint sometime after their release, I believe it will be the same case for the G2.

...and you have the "facts" that the G2 will be unlocked or you just want to "believe"? This belief of yours is based on what facts exactly? The HTC One and S4 are/were much more massively popular devices and attract much more attention. You are chastising me for being a realist yet all you're giving the O.P is your belief, just that.
I'm not crushing anyone's hope (where in blazes did you even get that from ). Why suffer through the wait for an unlock when the choice is there for O.P to get rid of it for as much as he/she can still get for it and get the GSM version.

Pretty sure sprint g2 say no sim card because it's locked. Usually a phone would say invalid or ask for a code but not the g2. Cmiiw

I'm in India and am getting a great deal on a Sprint LG G2. Only thing is that i have yet to find an unlock for it. Do the codes given by the unlock sites work? Or does anyone have any sort of idea/clue?
Please keep this thread alive. The price difference for me is substantial and I have kept my purchase of the LG G2 on hold for the moment.
If anyone can help I would be really grateful.

sometimes they can also give you unlock instructions thro email so what I would do is call sprint and ask whats the worse they can say? all they can really say im sorry but we cant help? I would really just call sprint
I just got the tmobile model I paid 100 bucks more than the sprint model on craigslist. I dont have sprint service and they told me that i have to have a 2 year contract with them. That they wont do prepaid plans to this phone.. Ridiculous but that's how they work. As Sprint i dont think they will unlock your phone since you didn't bought it from them.

Sprint's international phones get unlocked OTA (Over The Air) while registered on the network, meaning the unlock codes/mechanism are sent to the phone from Sprint itself. Unlocker websites will not work.
Other alternative is to wait for someone to develop an unlock solution like they did for the Sprint HTC One and Galaxy S4.
...or get a proper GSM LG G2 variant.

If you also read through the WHOLE thread you'll see the issues with that method...
easy fix for no sim card sign or not recognized.

Edit prop file in systen folder and remove Spr in: xxx.carrier=SPR
Basically delete SPR at the end of the line. And your sim will work. Verified.
Hope this helps someone. I get so much from this forum and hopefuly I can give back.

Download ROM toolbox which has a built in build.prop editor (You must be rooted to do this). If you're doing this, change the OPEN to spr (lower case) and then reboot, otherwise you will get system UI crashes.
But... there is now a permanent unlock for the ls980. Please check the Sprint section.

First you'll have to get it unlocked. From there you simply need to set your APNs to the carrier you're using the phone with.
The *free* unlock method doesn't work once you've updated your bootloaders (from JB). That being said, you can ask your carrier for the unlock code for your phone (worth a shot).
Sim unlocking is an easy problem to solve by getting a code. A bigger problem is enabling AWS on KK.
yeah the Sim unlock I'll pay and get it done thats no issue. the real problem is the aws. Is there any work around I can use?

I've been keeping my eye on that forum for a while, I was waiting for a permanent fix.
I picked up my pixel xl this morning and want to test out the bootloader, but don't know how to, can anyone help me out?
Just to let everyone know he has the verizon model. Oem unlock is grayed out in developer options.

OK- I got my Verizon Pixel XL 128 in today at lunch. I set it on the charger, and haven't turned it on yet. I wanted to see what was going on with the Forums before I did. I do have a spare TMobile Sim I can use. I also still have my 3rd version of the Note 7 (That hasn't even gotten the slightest bit hot)... so I am not in a hurry to activate the Pixel XL 128.
If you give me directions, I will perform whatever steps you'd like and report back. If you'd like message me... I can provide my cell and we can talk through it-

i booted with no sim and it was locked... they assured me they might have a backdoor to make me a developer. i find out first thing tomorrow morning before work. once im (hopefully oem unlocked ill share the dump wealth. put att sim in and only get HSPA not even H+ oh checking bootloader i used SKIPSOFT [TOOL] its helpful no credit to me for that tool.
