[Q][CDMA]AOKP ROM Control Porting? - HTC One V

I've noticed that there are a few hybrid ROMs out there with stuff like CM10 and AOKP and I was wondering how one would go about porting some of the AOKP features to a different ROM. If anyone knows a straightforward set of instructions, I can follow them... I'd just like to build and mod my own ROM.

Learn to build from source and pull commits from aokp's git. Then you can maybe and I say maybe "port" rom control to another rom.

[Q] Can the new AOKP feature (custom icons in the touch button bar) be ported?

As I said... The feature recently included that allows you to add total of 5 icons to that bottom touch area and change their icons.. Can it be used in other ROMs via some patch?
It can be kanged with permission yes.
But its not just a simple patch. Needs building into a rom

Are there any ROMs that already HAVE this? That is what I was looking for.
Yep.
It's called AOKP.
=]
AOKP has bugs. I hate bugs.
Any other?
There are no bugs in AOKP... what in particular do you have problems with? Regardless... you can check out Axi0m Patient Zero, it is based on AOKP but has everything working perfectly.

Maybe you need a refresher on how to flash a rom, friend.
AOKP is consistently bug free.
Build 29/30 were 4.0.4 merge tests basically.
31 is back up to bug-free.

JellyBean: AOKP vs CM10?

has anyone tried both cm10 and jb aokp previews?
it would be great to know what the main features of each rom are as of now.

Is too early at this point to say which is better or which has better features. Both are very very young projects.
Boths looks like the same features, but personally i prefer AOKP because it has the option to change the nav bar dpi (euroskank aokp), but now im using paranoid based on cm10, im not using cuz' cm10 based but the awsome PA DPI configurations.

Its depend what you really want with your GNex. Each ROM have advantage
For me stock ROM that already Custom by someone is good enough

I'm testing the same thing. I just flashed the latest aokp, now I'm on paranoid android. I much prefer the toggles in aokp (I'm in minority here I know). But aokp is not working with hide nav bar app, yet cyan and all other JB roms work fine with this. So I'm sticking with PA for now.
Aokp is missing stuff still like color multipliers etc. But they have center clock etc. Cyan is missing center clock, but has screen multipliers. Cyan also has dBm signal, but aokp does not yet. So its a tough comparison. Cyan has more features. I'm staying with paranoid just to use tablet mode for now.
Can't compare the 2 like that. Both offer different things. From my experience cm has been smoother and more fluid than aokp but aokp has a lot of customization. I'd say cm is more stable but the only person who can confirm these things is you.

CM tends to be very stable and smooth , AOKP is great if your looking to make your phone a little more unique and personal.
I've found battery life on CM better than AOKP but over-all its down to what you want. Both work well, both work different.
Try both and make a decision

What's is the difference between the AOKP ROM and the official Cyanogen mod 10?

Only thing that I could think that is diffrent is the developers and one has the aokp extra settings tab and cyanogenmod has its own settings and wallpapers.
Is one better than the other and which one do you prefer?

That's about it. They're both built from source. AOKP has a couple more features. They're both really stable though and I prefer CM10.

They are fairly different...
AOKP has their own source though they do use quite a bit from Cyanogen. They offer the navbar to be enabled which Cyanogen doesn't.
CyanogenMod has a long standing history of being the first and the best... its just true. I would venture to say that their AOSP kernel is the best on the market the update almost daily with input directly from Qualcomm! The big feature that I am fond of is the profiles settings which you won't find most other places. These allow you to set custom "profiles" for different scenarios like work and home that will automatically do just about anything from turning on and off phone function s down to running individual apps. These are also able to be written to NFC tags... you can see the awesomeness?
Ok im a fanboi...

I have always thought of AOKP includes the best of AOSP an CM. I like them both but prefer AOKP. You can drill down into your device a little deeper to tweak it further in kang. Both are great ROMs though.

Cm10 or aokp help deciding and what versions to flash

So I am thinking of flashing an aosp rom and I am down to cm10 or aokp. Have a few questions since I am back new to rooting and flashing:
-which is more stable? I need a reliable camera and I saw there were bugs with the camera in some versions. I want a daily driver, not a nightly with bugs.
-features and themes. I know cm10 has tons of themes in the market, is aokp the same?
-gapps : do I flash the same gapps file for both of them?
-any other bugs or advantages of one over the other?
Thanks in advance

Aokp has more features than CM10 as its just bare boned aosp. AOKP ride on cm source, so any bug in CM will be present in AOKP. Flash the same gapps....the last is preference. Both are stable, unless you flash cm10.1, which has bugs.

task650 actually pointed out AOKP is based off Google source, not CM....minor clarification
And 10.1 is actually pretty stable. Camera now works and I am using it as a daily driver now. Aokp would use an older gapps than cm10.1 as it is not built off of 4.2 yet.
I am running CM10 stable release from November and I haven't had one issue. I have the the 4.2 apps installed and I love them photosphere and the keyboard are awesome. Only one single problem if you install the 4.2 apps make sure your camera is focused all the way before taking a photo or you have to reboot your phone to use the camera app again because it locks the camera app. But who would want an out of focus picture anyway. Its funny it actually helps me take better photos. Other than that not a single problem with the ROM or apps. I have the ThyrusHolo Black theme from the Play Store installed and it looks great if you like black and holo. I very little about AOKP but I know I don't want to leave CM10 at all. But I suggest running each one for a week top get a good Ferrell for each and see which one you like better.

suggest me a ROM with the following

ive been using AOKP for the last 2-3 phones. love the customization but i hate the slow speed. i could just try every single rom but why not just ask the community since im sure someone knows what rom i should be looking at
can anyone suggest a rom that offers the following without compromising speed?
- center clock
- circle battery mod
- cpu clock, io scheduler and governor adjuster
- gamma and multiplier adjuster
- reboot menu
- lockscreen weather
features id prefer but could live without:
- use volume button to move cursor
- some sort of quick torch

I'm on sourcery exp 5.13 and its smooth and snappy.

Any rom that incorporates AOKP features has the features you listed above. Take the Pacman rom, it has PA, AOKP, and CM merged. :good:
I have JellyBeer 4.1.0 on my Galaxy Nexus -- it has the ability to do the things you have in your "must do" list. It's got a bit of 4.2.2, CM10.X and PA. I've enjoyed it so far.
Disclaimer: I am a n00b! I recently unlocked and rooted by GNex... and JellyBeer4 is my first custom ROM flashed to my phone!
What arianR10 said. Pretty much every ROM other than CM, and probably with the exception of Paranoid Android since it has tablet mode options, are almost identical with other small tweaks and enhancements. Almost any ROM you switch to, will probably feel the same and have all the same options. I personally use Carbon ROM. Its seriously the fastest, smoothest ROM I have used. some of the things you mentioned though, depends on the kernel you use and not really ROM specific.
i tried
rasbean (no options)
vanir (quick but not many options)
ak47 (seems buggy, though its new)
aospa (way too slow for me)
pac (again, too slow.. i think having pa/cm/aokp in one rom slows things down)
i think i tried a few others but no luck
ill keep rom hopping til i find one im comfortable with. thanks
It's good to see that this phone is still so well supported. lent mine with CM10 to a friend. Can't wait to get it back!
Any ROM based on Stock will be very fast. For some reason AOSP ROMs are slow.

You can try my ROM which is in my signature.. D
It's based of Stock Google's Android JB 4.2.2 (Takju)
Stock kernel, but I may change the kernel to CM's kernel, then it's possible to adjust gamma and some other things..
But my ROM doesn't have center clock yet.. I have also tried to get CM's circle battery but no luck, I always get errors.. but I have included another circle battery..
It has CM's Torch app (with widget for homescreen and for lock screen..)
Lock screen weather: (Chronus), but when I have time I try to get CM's cLock (Newer version..)
And when I have time I try to get tablet mode support for SystemUI.apk, Launcher2.apk and for framework-res.apk too..
I used to run XenonHD, it had all the features you specified and more.
Have since moved on to ParanoidAndroid though, never looked back.
i suggest you xylon rom. very good rom with lots of options to customize.
