Hey guys, i want to get the zv8 update since im on zv7 and the keyboard bug is annoying. I have a unlocked bootloader though. Is there a way to relock the bootloader to update? Or should I create a more recent nandroid, use lgnpst to reset it, update, then use custom restore to put just the /data back on?
Sent from my LG-LS970 using xda app-developers app
FreeGee will relock your bootloader.
If you're using CWM, it depends on how you backed it up. Changed from the default .dup and people claim it work. I know TWRP works because thats what I use.
I'm just not sure you should restore from a backup from zv7 to zv8. I think it'll mess things up.
Or you could just wait. There are some ROM's being released VERY soon. As well as the Zv9 update.
I'd wait for the zv9 flash able zip. Or a ROM based on it
Z8 doesn't fix the messaging problem. Supposedly z9 does but there isn't a root or unlocker for it yet

Well the freegee app from the play store is paid, which someone said is the only way to relock it:/ and the update notification keeps popping up while im texting and such.

I'm almost sure you can relock it using lgnspt. Hop on the irc and ask. They'll be able to help you for sure. If I was on my comp I would definitely help you

I changed everything in the build.prop from zv8 to zv9. I noticed that when I flashed nocturnal's mod it changed the version number to zv8. So the update kept trying to install even though I was already on v9.

Would you happen to know of any way to keep that upgrade dialog from coming up every 10 minutes?
If you're rooted and on zv9 just update build.prop. if not rooted then you can't.

Anyone know how to make out go away without root access?

Don't update to ZV9. If you are rooted and unlocked with a recovery then head over to the dev section and flash the rooted ZV9 zip.

I've been fairly busy lately and haven't had a chance to play with the phone. I want to eventually root, but won't have time for a bit. I was hoping for a quick fix to the annoying update nag.
Got my sprint LGOG yesterday and took one picture, camera worked. I then rooted the phone and unlocked it. Today went to take a picture and the phone froze then got a screen that said DemiGod crash handler with 3 different options. Anyone else ever get this. I've tried it 3 times now and still crashing.

I have been having a lot of problems getting stuck at boot when flashing and restoring due to data corruption issues many seem to be having. After Reading this thread I decided to do a full internal data wipe in twrp then power down before using lgnpst to flash back to unrooted/unlocked stk jb 4.1.2..And it worked perfect with no need to factery reset after flash....rebooted at 67% ran to 85% and told me phone disconnected reconnect to finish but the phone was already booted and running fine....cant say it will work for your phone but thought it might help.

There's a couple of ways.
To get as fresh as possible, LGNPST ZVB. It has recovery built in. And kind of rooted.
The other option, if you have recovery, flash the ZVB stock or deodexed ROMS.

We always hear the bad in everything, and seldom the good. That being said, there are 100's if not 1000's of people that have rooted and unlocked successfully. But there is always that chance. That's why the disclaimers.

Yes I used freegee on two devices.. Its only a small percentage of devices that wouldn't work with the app. If by chance your device doesn't work, then you'll have to jump on irc to pick up a specially made version of freegee.. I believe autoprime has it.
